‘The Robbie’ – Final Results (HTML)
Owens Cross Roads, Ala. – Senior Elizabeth Lohbauer matched the event’s low round of 3-under par 69 to rally 10 positions on Sunday, the biggest gainer over the tournament’s final 18 holes to lead Western Carolina with a ninth-place finish as play concluded at “The Robbie,” hosted by Lipscomb at the par-72, 6,226-yard RTG Golf Trail at Hampton Cove. Western Carolina came home in fourth place to conclude the fall portion of its 2024-25 fall schedule.
Tied for 19th after 36 holes, Lohbauer charted six birdies on Sunday to counter just two blemishes to shoot 3-under-par. Opening on the back nine, she moved to 2-under par with a pair of birdies through her first six holes until a double-bogey on the par-3 16th relegated her back even. A third birdie on the par-5 17th left her making the turn for home at 1-under par.
On the front nine, the Venice, Fla., product countered a bogey on the par-4 seventh with three birdies including her last coming on the 54th hole to shoot 223. The ninth-place finish was a second Top 10 for Lohbauer this fall, matching her finish at the Tot Hill Invitational.
Lohbauer posted one of just three rounds of 69 turned in over the three-round event. The other two 69 scores were carded by golfers that finished first and third, respectively.
Freshman Annalee Caveney slipped two spots in the final standings after carding a 7-over par 79 on Sunday to finish tied for 19th with a three-round score of 231. She closed her final round with three birdies to post seven at the event. Classmate Madison Lehr slid five positions to come home 24th with a score of 233, tallying three total birdies.
Rounding out WCU’s scoring five were junior Sadler Miller and freshman Ella Kozak in a two-way tie for 25th with matching scores of 234. Miller held serve over the final 18 holes while Kozak fell two positions on the final day. Both Miller and Kozak collected the seventh birdies of their respective tournament scores on Sunday.
Playing unattached as an individual, senior Kaitlyn Wingnean advanced a pair of positions on Sunday, coming home 33rd overall with a 54-hole score of 244. She carded a pair of birdies over the final 18 holes to close the event.
Nationally-ranked Louisville led wire-to-wire, claiming a commanding 38-stroke victory over runner-up and tournament host Lipscomb, 871-to-909. Murray State was third, two strokes in arrears at 911, five strokes ahead of Western Carolina (916) in fourth place. Rounding out the field were Morehead State (937) in fifth and Bellarmine (939) in sixth.
Second-round leader Thienna Huynh of Louisville shared medalist honors with Vanderbilt’s Angelina Tolention who played as an individual at 1-over par 217. Louisville’s Millie Cottrell climbed eight spots on Sunday with a 3-under par 69 to finish a stroke off the pace in third with a three-round score of 218.
Western Carolina has concluded the fall portion of its 2024-25 schedule. The Catamounts open a five-event spring in late February with a trip to Mercer’s Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, Feb. 21-23. WCU finished 10th at the event a season ago. The spring includes a return to Puerto Rico in early March followed by a pair of in-state tournaments with the City of Oaks Collegiate in Raleigh and the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate in Morganton. The 2025 Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship is scheduled for April 13-15, 2025, at the Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, S.C.
