  1. 吉莉·金 is the pronunciation of Kim Gil-li. It's Gi li Kim, not gill.. Gee li. Your going to be saying her name for several years. Since she may ultimately be the best female skater of all time, i.e. GOAT, you should learn to pronounce her name correctly.

  2. 1500 M Men Semis
04:59 Heat 1 (Jens van T Wout, Park Ji Won, W. Dandjinou)
10:05 Heat 2 (Kim Gun Woo) [Canada's F. Roussel penalty for end of straight illegal late pass, taking out Australia's B. Corey's legs and walling both of them, Corey advanced, at 16:21. Japan's D. Iwasa and Dutch S. Roes shoulder check each other at corner entry, no call, at 15:15. No call is correct because the 2 were even at the block]
    16:45 Heat 3 (Jang Sungwoo)
    21:24 Semis –> Finals List

    1000 M Women Quarters
    22:03 Heat 1 (X. Velzeboer, Choi Minjeong)
26:27 Heat 2 (K. Santos-Griswold) [Poland's K. Stormowska penalty for in the straight inside to out lane change, clipping skates with Japan's M. Nakashima while getting back ontrack, tripping Nakashima who wiped out the rest of the field on her way to the wall, forcing a restart, at 33:58]
    30:36 Restart
    34:22 Heat 3 (Kim Gilli)
37:57 Heat 4 (H. Desmet, Shim Suk Hee)
    41:22 Quarters –> Semis List

    1500 M Men Final
    41:57 Final B Intros
    43:05 Final B (Jens van T Wout)
    48:28 Final A Intros
50:33 Final A (Kim Gun Woo, W. Dandjinou, Park Ji Won, Jang Sungwoo)
    56:46 Medal Ceremony

    1000 M Women Semis
1:16:19 Heat 1 (Choi Minjeong, X. Velzeboer) [Canada TEAM KILL – Canada's F. Brunelle penalty for in the straight inside to out lane change, hip checking fellow Canadian D. Blais to the wall while getting back on track, Blais advanced to Final B, at 1:21:26]
    1:21:48 Heat 2 (H. Desmet, K. Santos-Griswold, Kim Gilli)
    1:25:07 Semis –> Finals List

    500 M Men Quarters
    1:25:54 Heat 1
1:28:26 Heat 2 (W. Dandjinou, Jang Sungwoo, Park Ji Won)
1:31:13 Heat 3 (Jens van T Wout) [False Start penalty on Italy's T. Nadalini, live film at 1:32:06. BAD CALL. Nadalini got set just a little later than everyone else but did not move after he was set until the gun went off. The ref should not have called a penalty in this situation]
    1:33:19 Restart
1:35:42 (Lin Xiaojun) [Britain's N. Treacy penalty for end of straight inside skater failure to give way, crashing with China's Lin Xiaojun, Lin advanced, at 1:39:55. GARBAGE CALL. The inside skater is required to give way only if he is behind entering the end of straight zone. Treacy and Lin were even at the red line in the middle of the straight, so the 2 were even entering the end of straight zone, so Treacy is not required to give way, and there is no penalty under Rule S8. The CORRECT CALL is no call, no advancements]

    1000 M Women Finals
    1:40:42 Final B Intros
    1:41:22 Final B (Kim Gilli)
    1:44:50 Final A Intros

    500 M Men Semis
    1:57:30 Heat 1 (W. Dandjinou)
2:00:43 Heat 2 (Jens van T Wout, Lin Xiaojun)
    2:03:35 Semis –> Finals List

    3000 M Women Relay Semis
2:18:52 Heat 1 (Korea – Noh Dohui, Choi Minjeong, Lee Soyoun, Kim Geon Hee)
    2:25:46 Heat 2

    500 M Men Finals
    [Final B – BROADCAST INTERRUPTION]
    [Final A – BROADCAST INTERRUPTION]
2:30:56 Medal Ceremony [end of ceremony only]

    3000 M Relay Final B
    2:49:42 Final B
    2:57:39 Final A Intros
2:59:20 Final A (Korea – Shim Suk Hee, Kim Gilli, Choi Minjeong, Kim Geon Hee) [This was a crazy race with many potential penalties which I will examine in the order they occurred:

    1) Korea shoulder checks Canada on a corner entry outside pass attempt, no call, at 3:05:31. Refs typically waive outside to in contact if the inside skater is not affected, so the ref waiver of the outside to in contact by Korea is defensible because Canada recovered. However, if the ref did assess an end of straight outside skater not giving space penalty against Korea, I would not have argued the call.

    2) Dutch shoulder checks Italy across the offtrack line, no call, live film at 3:01:28. The CORRECT CALL is Shared Responsibility as the Dutch went outside to in on a late block and shoulder checked Italy, and Italy committed a Rule R4 inactive skater on the track causing contact penalty, as the Italian infield skater drifted onto the track, causing the Italian active skater to swerve into the Dutch active skater.

    3) Korea shoulder checks Canada outside to in while attempting to exchange, no call, live film at 3:03:26. I think the CORRECT CALL is penalty to Canada for lane change during exchange causing obstruction, as Canada cut 2 lanes incourse and blocked the Korean infield skater from entering the track to exchange.

    4) The Italian infield skater trips the Korean infield skater while making a pass to set up the exchange, and the Korean infield skater spins onto the track and trips the active Korean skater, no call, at 3:03:33. The CORRECT CALL is penalty to Italy for Rule R3 blocking by an infield skater violation.

    5) Canada receives a penalty for end of straight inside skater failure to give way, hip checking Dutch into the wall, at 3:10:58. Under Rule S8, if the inside skater is second to the end of straight zone, she must give way and Canada did not]
