When mic’d up, I still couldn’t hear the difference between them. Which is why I stay away from FB marketplace or eBay for anything expensive. 😂
I think the bottom line is, if you know that you're buying a clone then it's fine, if someone is passing them off as genuine it's a problem.
8:00 forgot one …… Beeeep….
My fake Scotty has the same style fake cover. It's also a lefty.
You have YouTubers putting real shafts in fake heads, and so it goes on. Frankly, a fake is a fake, dont touch them. If you go on temu etc and buy a $30 Scotty Cameron you know what you are getting. When put it on eBay for £200 the buyer doesn’t, the fake golf club market was forecast 15 years ago, a pal of mine was a Ryder Cup Captain and his sponsors took him to a manufacturing plant in China, they made club parts for assembly in the US, these were for many major brands. My pal said he got wind of ghost shifts, where they continue running the machines, using cheaper materials and didn’t worry about manufacturing tolerance, he was convinced the western markets would be awash with fakes. A few years later we were at a pro am in Thailand, there was a shop in the hotel, all the clubs were fake, he said “didn’t i tell you a few years back this would happen” fortunately there was a rep from a brand in our 4 ball, he was straight on it. The shop in the hotel told us about a golf mall down the road, it was fake shop after fake shop, and it was very busy. Be careful, eBay will have loads of this stuff, and lately its balls as well
Booby's point at the end says it all .If you've never seen a real SC how do you tell your being done? a good con wont be that cheap, normally a little cheaper (a second hand price)
Just banging out any old content
If the pro was reselling the fake trade in then how would you tell? You'd trust your PGA pro and that's the biggest issue. A well known sports shop in a big English city (now closed I think) was selling fake lacostes years ago. For full price. Loads of people bought the (not me I couldn't afford one thankfully). Around about 1989.
Imagine the amount of moody Scotty's on eBay god knows why people buy them 🤯🤯🤯
James…ping irons people paint the dot colours back to black mare of mine wanted black dots underneath green 😂😂😂
James…how do golf coubs for cash do.there checks on scottys pls or do they not check
You can buy them scotty stickers as well 😂😂😂🤯🤯
I can happily report that I bought a really nice, GENUINE, 2nd hand Newport 2.5 Special Select with correct head cover for a fair price. Just can't hole a damned thing with it, so I'm still using my Ping B60, which I'm deadly with.
Vanity purchases, grrr! 😁
Such a shame that this goes on, great video James
The people to blame are the numpties that buy this stuff. Buy from your pro or UK retailers and stop buying off the internet. No sales means no fakes.
Try the SC wrench on the 'weights' – my N1.5 is visually quite good, feels awful to use and the weights are just part of the casting!
pedant mode activated ! Those clubs are not fakes , they are counterfeit. They are deceiving the buyer into thinking they are Scotty Camerons. Fake would be , for example if they were named Scooty Cameroons.
Apologies for the pedantry 😁
I am not surprised. On the second hand market I see at least 10 for sale at any time from 400 to 1800 bucks . I have never seen 2 of the same model and there's 50 different ones . I wouldn't buy one simply cause I'd never be able to sort out which would be a better model to get. Pride of ownership is over rated.
Yes, there are fakes. Try to deal with reputable entities. I hate seeing anyone getting conned. It is theft.
Just avoid scotty Camerons full stop. Real ones overpriced and overhyped, fake ones fake.
A thought you were going to say it was Gaz🫣🤭😆😆
Newport style Camerons have a distinctive short milling groove on the rear of the putter , running from the top of the putter into the cavity back ….if you look at the back of the putter it runs from the top edge into the right edge of the cavity ….you can see it at 2mins 28 in the video.
If I’m spending a lot of money and it’s 2nd hand I want the original receipt. Stick with your pro.
its my biggest fear when trying to buy online, never ebay or facebook marketplace
Here’s the thing. If the putter was bought for a really good price .. does it matter if it works? No one other than a real pro would know. 🤷♂️
I probably wouldn't know the difference between a real or fake Rolex as well. Ebay is great for buying golf stuff because you can see the ratings of the sellers. I love ebay!
Putters are far too expensive, all hype. Scotty Cameron or others will not make run of the mill golfer any better. Practice will.
