  1. I charged my children 1 Reece's peanut butter cup EACH to plan the route for maximum candy yield and to tow the wagon so they could swap out over laden goody bags.

  2. These numbers as a golf fan who only wants the best for the sport are absolutely embarrassing. My kid goes to college in the area so we were looking forward to attending next year, but that’s obviously not gonna happen.
    No day is worth it.
The wife is saying she won’t even watch on tv now this is so disgusting.
This sport is dealing with a “greed” crisis of sorts —which is killing ratings —and now this happens?
They will probably sell these tickets to the same people that paid way Too much for the US Open at LACC …which lacked atmosphere.
They will have a lot of people at bethpage but it will be interesting to see what kind of atmosphere people paying 750$ a day are gonna bring.

  3. I was hoping to attend but now there no way I will go at those prices. It’s honestly even soured me on the whole event, not sure I even want to watch on TV if that’s the message they want to send.

  4. its honestly ridcolous. if you include Hotel, Spending $$ and, Rental Car you are looking at 4000-5000 in total. I wouldnt be surprised if Bethpage club members get all the tickets and block out regular members. That was the situation at LACC. Its crap. Basically the superstars dont want to be behind the 8 ball in the fed ex cup standing by the time they care. But they dont have a problem playing in the fall events. Thats the situation this week with Tom Kim going for a 3 peat in Vegas. I think Utah was added at the last minute. I would expect more names to play like Utah native Tony Finau next year.

  5. $750 stops resale market, does seem very high though. Charge $50 for Miller Lite as well! But people will pay similar to see Taylor Swift and Super Bowl.

Sure players commercial contracts gives them a big bonus. Don't pay them, ruins it. Rory doesn't need extra one million.

    Great pod as usual.

  6. I have been to a Ryder Cup in 2004 at Oakland Hills. It was really awesome to be at as a golf fan. However, It is not quite the premium experience the PGA wants you to believe it is. Was it an amazing event that I will remember for the rest of my life, yes. Did I see Tiger, Phil, Davis Love, Furyk, Monty, Darren Clarke, Harrington and Garcia, yes I sure did. Having said that, I also saw the 2009 PGA Championship at the same venue. I got to see all the same players except Tiger (he was injured that year). I will also remember it for the rest of my life.

So was the Ryder Cup an experience that should cost 5 times as much as a Major championship ticket, as someone who has been to both I would say not at all. In 10 or 20 years all you will remember is who you were with, that you saw some amazing players at an amazing golf course and you will have some exaggerated stories about how close you got to your favourite player. You do not need to pay $750 for that, $250 is plenty I'd say.

  7. i'm with Lav on this one. wasn't LIV golf enough of a wake up call? the tour makes boatloads of money from networks (and fans i guess too), from top shelf tour professionals who are taking time out of their lives to ply their trade for free?? Cantlay and Schauffele were right.

  8. 750 is a fucking joke! First of all, karns said he wants to price his event like an nba finals, World Series. Does he now when you go to a golf tournament you can barely see the entirety of what is going on the course. America is just corporate entity. Fans should boycott and not attend and make it a snooze fest

  10. Sporting events pricing in most major events has stayed away from what they theoretically can charge (economically: supply vs. demand) and always tried to make them affordable. With FIFA and UEFA at the big football events, they make it a point to at least have a category of affordable tickets (and literally always state that), so they price discriminate by offering different categories (often 3 categories) and raising the prices later in the tournament instead. To make the minimum $750 is unacceptable. To your point, Rex, it's going entirely against the direction golf wants to go, which is more mainstream. Is this event about squeezing out every potential cent? Or is it about elevating the game of golf with the most popular event there is? Not to mention the PGA is technically still a non-profit. 😉 Also, at least in Europe, Taylor Swift tickets were $200-300, Adele $200-300, good world cup tickets can be gotten for $200…. $750 is just on an entirely new dimension and quadruple of the Open and other major events. Plus, at least for those that live outside the US or NY, we still have to pay for flights and hotels. Net-net, at minimum have a tiered approach, but $750 is unacceptable and reputation wise will backfire on the game of golf.

  11. Golf is a terrible live spectator sport – so is F1. Both are better on TV. Both are about the party, not the sport. (FYI – I am a season ticket holder for multiple teams. I love live sports)

  12. With that money on the pga's table, the players should be getting $1mil for their participation. No way I would ever pay that ticket price when the best views of the event can be had on the TV.

  13. This has always been a cash cow exhibition for the PGA Tour and the DPWT, nothing more.

  14. I grew up playing that course. It holds a really special place in my heart. Ever since the 2025 Ryder Cup was announced at Bethpage black I have been dreaming of seeing this event. Attending a Ryder cup has always been on my bucket list. It’s absolutely gut wrenching to hear the price of tickets for an event at THE PEOPLES COUNTRY CLUB! Absolutely disgusting.

  15. If the PGA is going to try and attract more of the snooty crowd and push away the everyday fan they might want to have a conversation with NASCAR. That approach has fared well there in the long term.

  16. They are now able to limit golf spectators to a monied and limited group. They have already limited it from some of the USA and Europe’s best golfers. It is not about growing golf, it is about growing pocketbooks. The era of popular golfers is over. The players will be less important, less recognized, and mostly ignored by the majority of people interested in golf.

I wonder out loud if this is intentional in order to kill the Ryder and make their own contests more important.
