How would you feel about getting this as a gift?

Non golfer buddy gave me the balls he collected from around his home (lives on the right side of the fairway on a par 5). I’m pretty pumped due to the amount of good balls in here, but some work is required.

Sifting through these now and I’ve noticed way too many of you dumbasses play pro v’s.

Or it’s the same guy that’s just very consistent and plays that course a lot

I’d be good with it…tell your buddy to keep those Pro-Vs coming!

Edit – I don’t see any Vice balls in there, so the only conclusion must be that Vice balls stay in the fairway. Gonna go buy some Vice balls now as a result!

  3. Amazing gift. Even if they were all shit balls. Someone thought of you, and your hobby, and took time out of their day to help you out. That’s cool, man.

Should buy him a 6 pack and tell him how good (lie) you played with one of the balls he gave you. New lucky ball.

Not having to buy golf balls for a couple months would be awesome.

  5. my_secret_hidentity

I think it was a kind gesture where your friend thought of you. Awesome.

  6. There are some decent balls in there. Wouldn’t be too bad.

  7. Ohyeahrightbud

get a cheap brand magic eraser and most of those will go back to perfect clean. killer score dude!

  8. I could give you that same gift! Well a similar one anyways. Always nice
    To be though of

  9. A buddy of mine will be stoked to get this as a gift from me, so I’m happy with it.

I mean it’s a couple of free range sessions at worst.

Pro V’s look good from here. Nice pick up for a gift.

I haven’t bought golf balls in the fifty years I’ve been playing
Lucky to have easy balls to find……

  13. pickoneforme

well, considering i pay money for shitty used ones, i’d be pretty stoked.

I worked at a nice course in the south with lots of long grass that was full of snakes in the summer time. Lots of signs warning people not to look for their balls.

So in winter we could finally hack it all down. After a long summer of working our butts off My boss knew me and a couple other guys were big golfers so he told us we could take a half an hour before the golfers arrived to go into the long grass behind the bush hog and grab some balls. He warned us the day before so I could come with a big rubbermade bin to fill it up.

He did this every year for his interns apparently.

In 30 minutes I found over 500 balls almost all of them were Pro V’s or Pentas and the like (it was a $200 round so people weren’t playing pinnacles). Most of them only hit a couple of times and not even water logged because it was a dry hazard area.

For Xmas that year I gave my dad 120 of them. It was his favourite present ever.

My friends don’t buy me gifts so I’d be thrilled

Depends if they’ve been sitting in water for years and then recovered.

Friend of mine works part time on a course and lets me grab a few lost and founds every time I’m over there. Gift that keeps on giving – I would be psyched for this

The equivalent of receiving socks for Christmas. Absolute treat.

  19. Hey, happy to see spare balls as a gift! Why would anyone not happy.

  20. I’ve received that exact gift from my nephew (a course caddie) on several occasions. Still using them!

  21. Clean the balls up, use the ones you want to and donate the others. There are a couple of hairy tee shots at my course, a 160m par 3 over water and a par 5 with a river crossing where the fairway slopes down into it. If I find balls I don’t want, I usually leave one or two on each of these tee boxes for people who hit the water (so they don’t need to go back to their bag to get another one)

I would try not to be a Dick about a thoughtful gift.

  23. PalmTreeCharli

Say thank cause I sliced half of my last bag in the woods 😂

  24. oskar_grouch

Clean em up, see which ones you can use in a round. Looks like some good stuff there, actually!

  25. DixieNormas011

My kids would love it. My dad even scoops them up at garage sales all summer. They’re 9 and 11, and have probably lost well over 1000 balls in the woods around the house over the last 3 summers

  26. CJ_Productions

It’s as good as being gifted a fresh set of balls. Because you know you’re going to find at least a set of mint balls, but most importantly you have a bunch left over that you can either hit away or practice with.

  27. spankysladder73

I’d feel medium about it. Not a bad gift, perhaps lacking in presentation though .

  28. babe_ruthless3

You still have a great gift, even if only 3 are playable.

  29. Legitimate-BurnerAcc

You don’t come across someone who collects a box of balls for someone else. Especially if they themselves golf.

That’s truly a box of “I love you bro”

  30. Strange-Fruit17

Love it, even if they’re crappy balls it saves money when you need to take a risky shot (for me it’s every shot I make)

  31. SpacemanPete

Cleaning them up is part of the fun. A huge box of random golf balls is legitimately near the top of my gift dreams. I love em.

  32. Willing-Log2918

My wife’s grandfather was giving away household items as they were downsizing. He golfs, I golf. He offered me a ziploc bag of *range balls*, which I gladly accepted since I won’t feel bad at all shanking these into the woods. When I get home, I realize he has a piece of tape with, written Sharpie, “Dan’s balls”.

The balls may run out, but I’ll always be able to joke about how I played a few rounds with Dan’s balls. Fantastic gift.
