  1. Kenny played against the man. He has real time, first hand knowledge of what it took to compete when MJ was on the floor. The delusional want to make up what MJ was to the league so that they can write revisionist history for their girlfriend, LeBronnia. The problem is this revisionist history is self-serving, because no one who played agains MJ or watched him play, or was inspired to play believes the hype. LeBeyotch can play with his sons, his cousins, he dead grandfather. He can score 1M points. He can dunk the ball from the concourse, but none of that will eclipse the impact Michael Jeffery Jordan had on sports in general, and the NBA specifically. So the basketball atheists are only wearing themselves out and they have undeveloped brains if they think this is working.

  2. LeBron is a more complete player, the numbers says it all scottie an Rodman took the best player on the other teams

  3. Like Kenny said in this podcast episode (if you watch the full episode you’ll see), a lot of why players today would struggle in the game from the 1980’s and 1990’s is because of the different rules. A lot of the moves like the step backs and the eurosteps would just flat out be called traveling back then, and it would be a turnover. It’s sloppy, careless and not truly skillful – they’ve relaxed the rules so much it’s like playground rules. So since they’ve relaxed the standards, a lot of guys that would otherwise be average to below average back in the 80’s or 90’s look like world beaters today. It’s easy to score if you can take 3-5 steps after you pick up your dribble instead of just 2. Yes, MJ could average 40+ easy in today’s game. He averaged 37.1 points per game in the 1986-87 season. Without shooting 3’s. That was just shooting 2’s and getting to the free throw line. Since there’s more emphasis on the 3 in today’s game, he would have shot and made more 3’s playing in today’s rules. He didn’t shoot many then because for the most part coaches back then saw the 3 as a gimmick and it was pretty much looked down on as a legitimate strategy – you shot them only if you needed to. Everything back then ran inside out because it was a big man dominated league.

Imagine how many points at the peak of his athleticism he could have scored on average if he shot the three more, and if there was no hand checking, and if there was the 3 second rule in place. No one could touch him, the driving lanes are wide open, and there’s no one at the rim to challenge him. No Patrick Ewing, no Dikembe, no Rik Smits, no Kareem, no Hakeem. And especially if Doug Collins was the coach – he ran EVERYTHING through MJ. He could average 40 easy. He lived at the rim and the free throw line then – his attempts at the rim and at the free throw line would probably double under these rules today.

And I had never heard of the point Kenny made here before I listened to the podcast – where coaches game planned for MJ AS A DEFENDER. It does make sense. It’s kind of like Wemby today – coaches have to take him into account, probably want to get him involved in some actions away from the basket so he’s nowhere near the rim – and hope you can get to the rim quick when you swing the ball around because he can cover ground quick. With MJ, it’s the fact he played the passing lanes as aggressively as anyone and was a terrific help defender. In the 1998 Finals prior to making the game winning shot, he stole the ball from Karl Malone on the post AS A HELP DEFENDER. Dennis was guarding Malone, I believe MJ was guarding Jeff Hornacek and Jeff was cutting behind Malone along the baseline and Jordan trailed him – but then came back to swat at the ball from Malone. That was as big of a championship winning play as the shot – if he doesn’t do that, there IS no shot at the other end of the floor.

He had a high basketball IQ, he was aware of time and score, he had great instincts and fundamentals, and he had an unmatched will to win. You’d be hard pressed to find someone else that was as high in ALL of these traits as he was in his playing days. Kobe may be one, Larry Bird and Magic may be others – I don’t think LeBron is close to Jordan in all of these categories. He’s an all time great for sure – but MJ is just head and shoulders above everyone else because he was at such a high level across the board in every meaningful basis of comparison. Like the Jet said – he was the most complete basketball player there’s ever been.

  4. The guys that have won Regular Sesaon MVP from The 60's, The 70's, The 80's, The 90's and The 00's would dominate The NBA today.

  5. Imagine hating on guy you don’t knw who is the best the numbers don’t lie bron ain’t the only one who played 20 years but numbers are better. Also if mike had no weaknesses why he couldn’t beat the Celtics why he didn’t beat the pistons lakers in prime year of those teams you sound crazy. The 90s was water down that’s a fact but Jordan is great and Kobe was great just now a overall all around better bron can do more and give you so much more. And Defense he had pippen lol ask magic when he dropped that triple double on mike in game one and they had to put 33 on. Him stop it

  6. Here’s the deal & it’s very simple.MJ lives in Lebron’s head rent free & Lebron (& his fans)can’t phase MJ one bit. When you know you know 💪🏾

  7. Teams also modified there defense to try and slow MJ down. It wasn't just the Pistons who implemented the "Jordan Rules"; numerous other teams adopted similar approaches. Another ability MJ had that surpasses LeBron and Kobe was his effectiveness in moving and playing without the ball in his hands. He was equally potent without the ball as he was while handling it 5 on 5 and in isolation.

  8. Why do so many people just absolutely Hate Lebron for no reason!!! Fine! You love MJ, good for you! Why Hate Lebron bc you Love the other guy! Just enjoy the man’s game. If not, don’t watch him! Dream Pro a straight Hater

  9. Kobe Bryant met and slightly exceeded Michael Jordan in my opinion as far as skill sets are concerned. Offensively and defensively.

  10. Mark Jackson's son could not use the narrative that 90s players were plumbers which is usually the last shit Lebron fans say when they can no longer refute MJ's case.

  11. I agree with the Kobe Jordan on off ball defense. They really are different players no matter what the crazy lebron fans and casuals say.

  12. Tbh, this debate is two things: 1) Not a debate. 2) Tired.
There's nothing to be said. MJ is the standard and the truth. If y'all don't like it, go touch grass and kick rocks.

  13. Kenny Smith absolutely right. Lebron is not as strong on defense and he's not that good of a free throw shooter. Oh, and Kobe was a better defender and foul shooter than Lebron also.

  14. UNDERSTAND LEBRON AS A PLAYER DOESN'T PLAY DEFENSE OR HUSTLES FOR THE BALL WAITS AROUND FOR THAT EASY SHOT', NO BALL SKILLS STRAIGHT GARBAGE ONLY MOVE DUNK LOL

  15. Lebron impactful, how???by not playing defense, creating more turovers sure 😂😂 This comparison is getting boring….Labron has to do more stunts to be considered as a goat🤡he only has leped longevity😂

  16. If you want to know who is better? You have to look at the fundamentals. Who had the better fundamentals? MJ. Why? Not cause of Jordan. Cause Dean Smith showed him what the standard was. Dean Smith showed him he was great. But his greatness didn't get him a starting spot on his team until he was fundamentally sound. Dean Smith made 80s-90s ball what it was. You don't a freshman/rookie. Because they weren't fundamentally sound yet. And he pushed him his entire freshman year to work on his fundamentals. And once you worked on those and developed those to a high enough level. Dean Smith made Jordan Jordan. Dean Smith is the GOAT!

  17. Players now are way better. Name 10 players at the SG spot when he was playing. Lets start Mj, … if ever you find 10. Then tell me what those 9 other guys would have done today. Kenny smith played in the NBA. Would he be able to compete agaisnt nowadays players.

  18. Bulls went in NBA finals without him. Case close. Weak competition, was on the best team, with the best coach. Amd people act like dudes was a golfer or a boxer.

  19. I don't think LBJ has chased anything but greatness his entire career. He realizes he & MJ are 2 different players. No matter the era, they're different. Drastically Different!! He, just like all the others before him, is the best version of himself!

  20. ***YAWN*** They're STILL talking about this? It's not even a debate, never was. Those who know, KNOW. Some of these jokers just want to argue for the sake of arguing. Need to go get a law degree and 'post up' in a 'court'room somewhere! FOH! Michael Jeffrey will never need to speak on this. No disrespect to LeBron, it's just a sign of the time and shows how weak-minded people are.
