This is the difference between pros and the rest of us hackers. When they “miss it” they mean they hit it on the outer edge of the sweet spot.

Is he selling them? Seems to be plenty of life left in the areas I use.

I had a chance to buy a set of Mizuno Pros back 20+ years ago. I can’t remember whose practice set they were but if memory serves me correctly, they were Nick Faldos. The 7-9 looked just like that.

Don’t go the range, and you never have to worry about your irons looking like that.
GuyOnTheMike
I played with a scratch golfer last month who was upset about his putting, cursed chips that ended up 10 feet from the pin, and bemoaned approaches that still ended up on the green. He shot a 76 on a fairly difficult country club course and was legit pissed about it.
Meanwhile, I was happy as a clam with my 95
EDIT: unit of measurement

No leading edge wear. Don’t even see the ruff.

If i see this reposted one more time i will freak out like that guy who took his shirt off and raged on the course

Is what valid? Th wear marks for a pro’s club? Yes, people don’t understand what a completely different level they are on.

I have some old twice handed down wedges from an assistant coach for some D1 team, same wear marks on a 58 & 60. It’s a whole different game they play.

I am the OP on this post (check my post history) and I want to say a few things about it:
1. I was wrong, my friend corrected me he never made web.com but played on a few mini tours after college.
2. Yes, he rolled up and shot a 67 at glen mills in PA (not an easy track). And yes, that is his 7 iron.
3. I’m terribly sorry for all of the golf meme pages reposting this 1 million times.
4. It got reposted so many times and so many people made fun of how old his clubs are that he went and got fitted for new irons the very next month. So I guess he has all of you to thank for that 😂

I bought a set of Titleist irons off a club pro back in the day. He’d had them maybe a couple years, and there’s a similar pattern on the 7
Not quite to that degree, but buddy – who was maybe off a 2 or a 3 – clearly was very consistent
Its nice when people see it and assume it’s my pattern, too 🙂

These are the kind of people who know when they “caught it a groove low”, or “that one was a groove high”.
When it’s anywhere ON a groove, as in not on the hosel or the shiny toe, I’m fairly content.

I bought some Titleist 712CB irons. The pitching wedge has this same wear mark but it’s still pure as spring water 💧

Where does one buy a club with wear marks like that? It’s like the ultimate mind game.
Lol_who_me
Yes. I have one of those buddies. Nike tour so a bit older. Some wear on his AP2s tho.

I also have this friend.
Ex- Nationwide Tour and college golf national championship team member, always used to say he, “would never play Augusta unless he was competing in the Masters.”
I saw him shank one once!!
Never have seen him shoot above 70…
Irons look the same.

What do you mean by “valid?”
shadycoy0303
Had a Nike 60 degree that kinda looked like this… but like a much bigger wear spot because I I’m not a pro and had it for 15 years because poor people problems

Worked to the pro shop in the ’80s. The Ben Hogan sales rep had one of Ben Hogan’s practice six irons. It had a little fingernail sized wear spot
I finally kept a set of irons long enough to do this!

Poor guy can’t even afford new clubs

Ya know back in the day I believe it was Tom Kite who during an interview called out all the guys on tour who sand papered the center of their clubs , by all means not accusing yer friend of this at all just saying it was prevalent enough to be mentioned at one time .
