  1. Sahith Theegala is a very honorable young man. To communicate the sand moving immediately, to his playing partner — and then accept the official ruling so gracefully — is very impressive. There's so much money on the line at this tournament, and he's made the climb into the Fedex Cup Top 30, after so many years of hard work. A lot of players would have shrugged it off, or not told their playing partner & the officials right away. If there is such a thing as "golfing karma," then Theegala's calling a 2-stroke penalty on himself today — which could end up costing him $1 millon, or maybe more — is going to pay him back many times over, during the next few years. I know it sounds corny, but you have to admire someone who has this much respect for the game, and his opponent, and himself. You gained a bunch of new fans today I'm sure, young man.

  2. Another one of those silly rules of golf that makes casual fans say WTF? While the rule is intended to keep players from improving their lie in the sand (a la Patrick Reed), its implementation in a case where clearly no advantage is gained is way too harsh (2 stroke penalty).

  3. ya know, the more i think about this rule about not grounding the club in traps — makes me want to make them have a rule change where they can't ground their club in the rough either. There's guys out there grounding the club in deep rough pressing the grass down (we all know Patrick Reed did it, but i highly doubt he revolutionized it).

  4. That penalty on Theegala is ridiculous. He did not improve his lie IF he moved two grains of sand. Come on rules committee. Be better!!!

  5. The current format of the tour championship is so boring with the starting score splits. Only a handful of players are reasonably in contention.
Why not have two champions, one winner of the regular season and another of the post season championship….you could still have three tourneys, eliminating players along the way but the final weekend is the same format as all others but with a bigger prize. The season winner still gets rewarded and the final weekend will actual be worth watching!!!!

  6. Theegala is such honesty young man. You have earned my respect! Unlike someone who ends up in LIV and still lying about it. Lol

  7. Sahith … I tip my hat to you and your honesty. May the golfing gods record this. Also can someone send a copy to Patrick Read..😂
