  1. Game changing bike tech & these clowns say aero tubing / group rides / UDH / U shaped spokes / single speed cx bikes…… jeez…. they should have been politicians.

  2. Quite a few flat bar 1x gravelish bikes in the background. Nice to see.. underdeveloped category. I poo pood them for ages but they’re awesome

  3. I would add the availability of production of bikes for smaller companies. The prediction that only a few, pardon the pun, giant companies would take over and the small and medium firms would disappear has not happened. In fact some of the bigger companies are in trouble. Made to order steel and aluminum bikes have made it possible for innovations to continue. And to design what people are looking for not just what can sell by the boatload.
Related to this would be direct to consumer companies. While this has added another challenge to the LBS it has made products more available to customers. And opened up markets to boutique companies and framebuilders. Like Scarab who can grow by selling around the world not just in Columbia.

  4. You can tell who is really a cyclist and who is just a a guy who happens to work for a cycling company based on the answers lol

  5. Probably has to be wider tires on road style bikes. Followed by one by drivetrains on road bikes, then wireless shifting, then disc brakes.

  6. If I could design my dream Gravel bike, it would have these features.
–50mm of suspension travel front and rear
    –1×13 drivetrain with a 9-54 600% cassette
–frame and fork clearance for up to 29×2.4 (700x 61mm) tires but also capable of running 45mm tires
–Gravel specific tires in the 2.2-2.4 width
    –internal width i30-32mm aero rims
    –aero frame
–a lot like an XC bike but with less travel, drop bars, and drop bar Gravel bike geometry

  7. Shoutout to (Rob) English Bikes! His builds are amazing. I hope someday to owe that man a lot of money.

  8. I had never heard of single speed cyclocross, but I like its ethos as described by Paul around the 7 minute mark. Funnily, I liked the takes from the older folks that were interviewed.

  9. Well done. Very, very interesting. On my daily beater,
I'm a 3x guy with a sturdy chain, toe clips, and heavy duty frame. Other than that, I try to keep my bikes as light as possible. Oh, yeah, rim brakes, baby! And gel seat covers. I like doing what works for me whether it fits the trends or not. Do a lot of my own work too.
The guy who said he and other builders pushed for something….that's exactly what's wrong with the industry. I don't mind someone trying to convince me or sell me on something, but don't push, don't condescending.
I love cnc machining, 3d printing titanium, 3d printing bike seats, trying to develop a viable non-pneumatic tire. So I like things moving forward too. I've 3d printed lugs for myself and it's fun to experiment.
    All the best.

  10. Why do we humans need bikes? At the rate things are developing robotic bikes are the future. No rider needed!
Sit at home and watch your favorite bike win the Giro and Tour!

  11. Bigger tires improve handling.. yes..on more agressive terrain, but then so do the flatbars when contreolling those bigger tires on said terrain.. so….. back to hardtail mountain bikes with some minor tweaks. Com'on folks, don't try to pull the wool over our eyes.

  12. Thanks for everyone's opinions on tech advancements, fun to hear all the thoughts and nobody is wrong, of course. And it is great to see all the options at all the prices, just as lots of long-ago tech is still serving us well and for me 3x for life. And nothing wrong with bar ends, either. And thanks to all the BMX brands in the '70s that sprung up to give Sting-Ray riders something even better to ride and race, with the mountain bike industry following in their footsteps and if gravel bikes are like '90s mountain bikes, well, that's not a bad thing, lots of those bikes were tons of fun and it wasn't all that long ago, still the Space Age and all. 😀

  13. As an old cyclist, I am 60 years old.
To me the real game changers, people like to throw those buzz words.
But game changers are ideas or inventions that basically changed the way we do or look at things.
Isaac Newton's ideas are game changers.
Albert Einstein's ideas are game changers.
Charles Darwin's ideas are game changers.
As for cycling these are my picks of ideas, technologies that truly changed it.
First, Carbon, you just have to look around.
Second, Geometry, since I started riding around 1974, geometry and its effects on how you ride has truly changed how we ride.
Third, disk brakes, disk brakes ushered a revolution in wheel building, and how you ride.
Fourth, electronic shifting, it is just faster and more precise.
Last, massive improvements in ebike technology, from batteries to motor.
Look at the, Pinion MGU Unit, that is a true game changer in ebike technology.

  14. I get the 3D printing. But with that, the costs should be LOWER not higher. They are charging for the novelty of 3D printing. It’s waaaaaay more expensive to have a run of 1 or 3 things /ideas machined or milled. But having a robot do it, I’m all for it but just reduce the prices

  15. Silca that's what it is.
A pitch. Otherwise known as a marketing technique.
From a marketing standpoint known as line stretching

  16. Anyone know what that bell was on the Hunt bicycle stand at 2:03? It's under the out-front mount and looks a bit like a Knog Oi bell.

  17. Is tires that has air inside and can be easily get puncture is the ultimate innovation for tires? For all these decades vehicle manufacturers focus only on engine, suspension etc. i hope someone can innovate a puncture proof tires that can operate like an air tires
