  1. You can grip down the standard length driver 45 inches to 44 1/2 tf that suits you. It's the shaft that should match swing speed.

  2. I recently saw an interesting video about 3 woods and drivers. At swing speeds under 90 mph, a 3 wood had the same or even more distance as swing speed decreased. And because the 3 wood has more loft, the shots tend to be straighter, ie hits more fairways.

  3. lol what was the rant at the end about gps vs rangefinder? "Don't use the more accurate measuring device, you come up short with that. Use less accurate GPS instead and hit it further… if you can afford it"

  4. This is great advice for 99 percent of avg golfers! I took out my 3 wood years ago as I lost speed. Used a 5w. I just replaced that with a 2H. Also have a 4H instead of a 4iron.

  5. I did a Titleist Driver fitting the other day, and the fitter said that 45" would be a good length for me… imo, going to 44 1/2" wouldn't hurt me either… In fact it probably suits my swing better…

As far as wedges go, I believe I'm covered… My wedge game is solid with my Vokeys 47.10F, 52.08F (Full Swings), 56.14F (Soft Sand and Deeper Rough), and 60.04T (Hard Sand and Tight Lies)…

My putter has been letting me down lately, (Scotty Cameron Studio Design 1.5) but I just can't put it down for a Mallet… had a Fastback 1.5 and a Fitted Edel Mallet and they didn't help… I just need to put the work in…

Currently, I don't have a problem hitting long irons or my 3W cranked down to 17* but I definitely understand your point in regards to them… I will sometimes bring my 5W if I know a course well enough that it's better suited than the 3W…

Great advice, and a great video as always… Cheers…

  6. Dear Average Golfer

That was a masterclass You should have been a pro golfer If not, l'd change yoir stage name to professor golf

I will try all 6 tips

I have developed chipping yips lately with stupid blade wedges I love your tip with broad sole 56°. I will discard the lob wedge too and l have struggled with the distance 200 years distance from the tee for those tight holes from the tee Also l never knew about the new mallet putters. I have struggled too long with a blade

Thank you so much professor golf😊🙏

  7. Have a 64 degree wedge-time and time again it serves me so well from slopes, roughs to popping the ball from short distances on the green. And from the bunker, unbeatable too. Maybe not for evetyone but with the 2 iron its my favorite club. Never getting my 2,3 or 4 irons out of my bag,use no driver nor hybrids and tee off always with my long irons.

  8. I don't fat wedges because of the sole lol I do it because set up, stance or swing is out. I love my 50, 54, 60 degree RTX6 Cleveland Zipcore's and hardly ever miss hit them.

  9. Easy way to see the benefits of a shorter driver shaft. Get grip fitted that doesn’t taper so that you can comfortably choke down. If there’s any difference between a shorter shaft and choking down it will be negligible but the benefits of either will be obvious.

  10. No, I'm not getting rid of some of my best clubs! You can pry my 3i and 4i out of my cold dead hands! 😂Nemesis (5i) is up for discussion…but he still goes the distance I need even if the dispersion is horrible (if the green is a 20ish yard circle, none of them will be on it instead encircling it…only on the course too, never in the lesson).

The Cleveland wedges are fantastic. I bought a gap wedge and went back and got a sand wedge. They are very comfortable to me when I'm holding them.

  11. Cutting a driver length down is a good idea, but good luck finding a club fitter who can properly figure out how to get the proper swing weight. It’s very important to have the proper swing weight with your driver.

  12. When i had my woods fitting my fitter suggested dropping 3 wood and replacing with a 5 wood as it was only 5 yards shorter, went driver, 5 & 7 wood and they''ve been brilliant. At the other end ive ditched my Kirkland wedges an replaced them with Cleveland smartsole 50 degree and 54 & 58 CBX's wedge game has improved significantly as for putter i have my trusty Odyssey mini jailbird i wont even pick up another putter in case i upset it 😊

  13. Disagree with some suggestions:
    1) when I need more accuracy instead of length I simply grip down an inch on my driver shaft 2) my 60° is rarely used but when I need it it is essential (bunker close to the flag etc) 3) I do use a hybrid and 5-wood instead of long irons, but still carry a 3-w. My bag: 5 to 9 irons, PW, GW, SW, LW, hybrid 22°, 5W 17.5°, 3W 14°, driver, putter half-mallet – perfect when I hit it well 🤪

  14. Re. driver length, why can't you just grip down like Lydia Ko does on virtually all her shots – and maybe the extra length acts like a counterbalance? (some clubs have little weights at top of grip anyway). Just asking, I'm a newbie to golf…😂

  15. Carry a driver 5,7,9 woods but have a 69 degree wedge at 64 years old. Just won our club championship by 8 shots. Got the same putter as Scotty sheffler that I am deadly with. The irons are cobra 1 length.

  16. Driver shaft – choke up. Wedges – highly personal but yeah try a few things. Putter – totally personal, one can putt with anything. Long irons – yes, for 90% of golfers drop them. 3wood – yes, same as the long irons.
