MIKEY’S TITLEIST GT FITTING // Can the GT possibly beat Mike’s unfailing TSR?

Today, Mikey is in Oceanside, California to be fitted by Chris Baingo at the Titleist Performance Institute.

Looking into the new line, we will see if it’s possible to pry his current Titleist out of his hand after having one of the best driving seasons of his life with the TSR4.

The new GT line consists of three models. GT2 is designed for speed and forgiveness across the face with a higher-MOI setup. GT3 is designed for fine-tuned speed and control, maximizing distance and optimizing flight. GT4 is a low-spin, 430cc driver designed to eliminate excessive spin and deliver a fast, penetrating trajectory.

  1. I have an 8° GT3 with the Tensei 1k Blue 65X on the way… Hit it so well at my fitting. 13.5° GT2 3w turned up to 14.25° with the HZRDUS 70g 6.5 as well. Thing is a rocket.

  2. Zero gain in my fitting. TSR was faster and dispersion was better. I love Titleist but, these drivers are capped out.

  3. Not impressed at all with the numbers you guys are seeing there. Not in the zip code of 2.7 x swing speed. Just ordered a GT3 (8deg Fuji Black) and on my best drives was seeing OVER "Optimal" results in the 2.8X swing speed range. 3 yards extra carry and 6 yards extra total vs. my TSR3

  4. Fun video. Definitely some marketing at play with some of the comments around 6-7 minutes. TSR had higher numbers.

It kind of disinsentivizes me to get fit again when these guys get fit by-monthly, and they always need something different. Im way worse than both sonwhat chance do I have that the driver I fit today actually fits me tomorrow?

  5. When you look at the average of the TSR versus the GT, there’s not enough in this to consider even changing anything. The highest carry and distance came with the TSR. The new GT did not do much except on one occasion get a couple yards more. Seems like this was a fixed result.other test results on YouTube by unbiassed users have shown the TSR to be every bit is good and then some cases almost better. It’s a gimmick and way overpriced.

  6. I was fitted for GT2 11 deg (C3) with Tensei 1k Blue S 55. Got an additional 7mph ball speed and +20m distance over my old Titleist 913D2. But the real story for me was the much improved dispersion and ball speed retention on poorer swings (need all the help I can get 😅!).

  7. Different subject here. Were you able to test or use the Left Dot while you were there? Interested to see what you think if you were able to get your hands on them. Great job as always, Lads.

  8. Incredible how many people go into new equipment videos just wanting to hate new gear.

The point of a fitting is to improve misses and improve average data, which Mikey clearly did in every important ball variant… that he’s hit a 152 mph ball speed once with his TSR is absolutely irrelevant as the rest was quite inconsistent.

In fitting terms, the spin, ball speed and carry an average was all improved against TSR.

And he even said at the start of the video, “your TSR isn’t far off” which doesn’t mean the TSR is dog shit, it means it’s completely gameable, but, you could gain a bit more…

    Jesus 🙈

  9. I think the GT3 has sacrificed too much MOI this year. The actual numbers have been confirmed in the Golftec and Cool Clubs review, it's as about as forgiving as the original SIM. I think it's an elite players option and if your a 8/9 handicapper who wants to create or counter a draw/fade, I don't think GT3 is the product sadly, just not good enough on the misses compared to TSR or even TSi. Likewise the MOI on the GT2 has dropped off as well. I think Titleist are chasing ball speed gains on YouTube videos in my opinion, but over 30/40 shots and season long performance, I think the average player is far better off with the previous 2 generations.

  10. The first strike was 241 carry with tsr… and then he hit heaps of balls with the gt getting warmed up and the tsr still was right there.
Should do 5 shots with tsr and 5 with gt alternating so it's fair, but u can't sell it if it's the same 😂😂

  11. Kinda proves that TSR is literally just as good. A lot of the carry was down with TSR because of strike on the face. But had higher ball speed than the GT

  12. Mikey needs the feel of posting hard on his right leg almost straight with more left leg bend. With the feel of trying to hit a cut.

  13. Titleist is slipping in Left Dash balls with the GT to show the massive jump in ball speed and using Pro V1 balls during the baseline with the gamer.

  14. What is Mikey doing about the way too neg club path and spinning/falling backwards in the follow through? There's so much more to be gained with an inside path and posting on left side.

  15. I have almost identical swing metrics to Mikey and had similar gains in distance, ball speed and tighter dispersion with less spin when testing the GT3 1k Blue stock shaft compared to my gamer TSR / expensive custom shaft, and I also compared 100 rounds of driver data from my Arccos account. Ave total drive during the 30 minute fitting at the Titleist Studio went from 240 to 265 yards with the GT. I went into the fitting skeptical the GT could materially improve my TSR stats, but the numbers speak for themselves and potentially hitting 1-2 club lengths less from more fairways into greens was worth the investment for greater enjoyment as an avid golfer. Definitely take the time to get fitted to optimize all that the new drivers / shafts have to offer for each of our unique swings, regardless of which brand.
