US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have agreed to their first debate on September 10, to be broadcast on ABC. This will be their initial face-to-face contest in a closely watched race. Trump had proposed additional debates on September 4 and September 25, to be aired on Fox and NBC News, but Harris declined these changes. She expressed enthusiasm for the September 10 debate after Trump “finally committed” to the date. The debate was originally scheduled as part of a series agreed upon with former President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the race last month. Harris, the Democratic nominee, will now face Trump in what promises to be a critical election showdown.
