Jasmine Moore Wins Team USA’s First Ever Triple Jump Medal, Dramatic Mixed Triathlon Relay Finish



Jasmine Moore won bronze in the triple jump, the first American ever to medal in the event.

Moore’s season best 14.67 meters was 0.35 meters behind gold-medal winner Thea Lafond of Dominca.

The 23-year-old Texan is the first American woman ever to qualify in both triple jump and long jump.

Meanwhile, Team USA won silver in the triathlon mixed relay in a dramatic finish.

The team was in sixth after Morgan Pearson’s third leg, but Taylor Knibb’s anchor pulled the team, which also included Seth Ryder and Taylor Spivey, to what appeared to be a tie with Germany and Great Britain. A review of the photo finish gave the win to Germay, 0.01 ahead of Team USA.

Team USA also won silver in the mixed 4×400-meter relay.

And Ukraine’s Yaroslavia Mahuchikh cleared 2.1 meters to win the the high jump and break the 37-year-old world record.
