‘What a fine man he was’: Donald Trump pays touching tribute to rally shooting victim

Former US president Donald Trump paid a touching tribute to rally shooting victim Corey Comperatore at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday.

Firemen brought out a stand holding a fire helmet and a turnout coat bearing the words “Buffalo” and “Compertore”.

Trump arrived on stage, walking alongside the uniform, ahead of his first speech since surviving the attempted assassination.

During his RNC address, Trump took a moment to approach the uniform and kiss the helmet, honouring the fallen fireman.

“He was a highly respected former fire chief, respected by everybody – was accompanied by his wife, Helen, incredible woman I spoke to today. Devastated. And two precious daughters,” he said.

“He lost his life selflessly acting as a human shield to protect them from flying bullets. He went right over the top of them and was hit. What a fine man he was.”

  2. Its Blasphemous bringing up about God and showing appreciation and still want to do mass deportation to innocent immigrants 🤔

  3. This dude Trump reminds me of the Deacon in Water World both during and after their speeches. The tones and everything match. I feel bad for the events that happened and for the families affected, but this dude is a wolf in sheeps skin. Especially anytime you have a wrestler, thats been known to lie and spit racists remarks is speaking at your convention.

  4. As a retired FF EMT, this man has the love of a brotherhood backing him, it’s never easy losing a family member or parent, this man died as he lived protecting he’s family! This family is a part of history forever… how many people in this world would be so selfless? Our military veterans are and I thank them from active to discharged! You are all the reason we have the rights that we do! DJT is the only president to not start a political war in 4 years I. Office! This is the man we need running this country strong brave and selfless! God Bless President Trump! 2024 the best is yet to come😊

  5. RIP. Mr. Comperatore.
You can say anything about it being a political campaign act or so, but it's undeniably a respectful speech and a well deserved tribute to the father that died protecting his family. And beyond that, comes the attitude of raising money for the family of the victims, which is an effort with concrete results. This was perfect, no one can fairly complain about it.

  6. I'm from the UK, and I'd take trump as our prime minister ANY DAY. You watch the media try and spin the narrative on this. When it's clear to see, trump was humble, genuine, and caring here.
