just briefly before we started recording this that we passed a bit of a milestone uh with our last epode well not even our last episode shows how focused we are on talking about Spurs we actually don’t realize how many episodes we did I think we’re up to 153 episodes of this podcast so we passed 150 kind of landmark a few a couple of weeks back and didn’t even realize just moted on through as if it was nothing but yeah I just you know what I looked back to see our first episode of this obviously we kind of we did a I started off the rough kind of Rumblings of a Spurs podcast didn’t we years back and then it kind of disappeared and then we brought it back three years ago um just under three years ago in this uh this it’s format as it is today you know golden guest talk Tottenham rather than just a kind of a general thing and I was looking back our first podcast was on 2nd of August 2021 why in the world did we launched this in the new no era how did that come about well I didn’t they just wanted uh it to go again and uh obviously we’ve lasted uh a bit longer than no now I think how many said will we’ve done when Nuno was manager probably about 42 yeah proba was about 20 yeah yeah so it’s been good uh those poor listeners though if they’ve listened to all 153 fair play they should get certificate shouldn’t they certificates of Merit and distinction for getting this far I couldn’t believe that I looked back and our first podcast title was golden guests turn up to work on the day Harry Kane apparently doesn’t just just you like what were we thinking that week and some of the names in the next few podcast titles were like Cristiano Ronaldo and and vich and Laro Martinez tongi and demele was in the second podcast title I think that pretty much is a given really that he was going to be there early on I can’t believe I just you know what shows what a bad memory I’ve got I don’t remember didn’t remember that we kind of started off in Prime noo territory just as he was going to make us proud um but yeah I think it’s 54 if you include the original trailer but no thank you so much for everyone that continues to for some reason listen to us rambling on about Tottenham hotsa um you know we enjoy doing it we try and do at least one a week when guest is not away on holiday and uh two a week if we can and uh yeah we’ve we’ve been very fortunate that we seem to have picked up a lot of listeners along the way as our people in the company keep telling us which is lovely to hear and um I didn’t even see we kind of once in a blue moon we’ll realize that we have ratings and reviews and things like that which uh are always fun to read um and thankfully we’re very well-rated which I didn’t realize till I looked on Spotify uh but yeah aside from all that thank you so much everyone for kind of sticking with us for this long we didn’t realize we’d kind of pass this Landmark if we had we might have actually done some kind of special show um but maybe that points towards how focused we just are on giving you whatever we can about hot spur that we didn’t even notice we’d passed our own Landmark yeah uh we’ll get on with today’s show anyway 1504 then you includ the trailer I think maybe 150 and I suppose yeah this is 154 sorry you’re quite right yeah would be 155 with the trailer yeah yeah uh so Tottenham back at hot spare way ahead of the new season training commenced on Saturday has ever the first day of training it’s mainly just physical and medical tests uh I think the players Absolut desperate to Begin work with the Ballers on the video footage you could see a couple of them you know kicking the ball about in the gym uh but they were back outside on Sunday so not everyone’s there at the moment there’s still uh Christian Christian Romero jvan Selsa Rodrigo bensen ker there at the cup America interestingly they could all come up against each other in the final on Sunday as Argentina and Europe U different sides of the draw then you got uh the players involved at the Euros Mickey vanen he’s still there Holland playing England on Wednesday night then there’s dragas Vicario H H who will be away on their summer breaks and returning at a later date but I think the players you know fans wanted to keep an eye on in the first training sessions uh in terms of the photos and video footage that has been released Arie gray and uh Lucas BG well yes yes and we saw the little kind of clip that they showed of an meeting Lucas bergal in the carb I’m guessing that they just rocked up at the same time he didn’t like make a little special trip otherwise Lucas burgal is going to be very quickly tagged as the teacher’s pet isn’t he like oh an friend kind of thing he’s actually going out there to see him as he arrives um he may well have done the same for Archie gray I don’t know maybe he did it same for every single player but um yeah it’s it’s cool to see the kind of the new one in through the door that’s kind of the point of getting some deals done early I know it’s not as many as everyone would like but there are uh I suppose two new faces in Archie gray and Lucas bergville I know Lucas bergville was done in um February and a returning one in Te o verer who we’ve seen in seems to be involved in training doesn’t he as well um it’s not like I did wonder with some of the injuries towards the end of the season how quickly we’d see them but certainly Teo verer I saw him kind of slinging balls across into the six-yard box and some of the footage they showed um Mana Solomon as well involved I don’t want to use the cliche it’s like a new signing but you know it’s a player we haven’t seen much so yeah getting to see him uh involved in things again and it’s just uh the weirdest thing for me is seeing the lone players who have had no part of Andrew’s plans whatsoever coming back into it do you always find that weird when suddenly there they are in Spurs kits and you’re kind of thinking you were not meant to be there yeah Jed Spen Sergio regon you know two players who you think probably will be moving on again there’s ELO valise he’s back as well but this is the case I was in the preseason it’s just a case of trying to move them on or whether or not they become part of the team going forward we’ll have to wait and see but to say there’s been Euro’s Euro 2024 on the schedule this summer cuper America as well there’s an awful lot of play at uh hot spur way very few uh Missing which in turn you know should Birdwell for Anan and the coaching staff opportunity to work with them you know from the get-go and hopefully make a quick starts of the Season yeah it’s weird see like a player like Ser regon kind of shows you because obviously we’re not seeing week in week out um just kind of seeing what he did times on loan at brenford and United last season but he kind of looks older is I think up in my head I see him as the guy that joined in it was 2020 wasn’t it like four years ago and I kind of see him as that fresh-faced kind of young Spaniard who was very popular cheeky chappie in the camp and now you kind of look at him and I’m not saying he’s not fresh faed anymore but he does look like one of the older players he looks like a guy who’s what probably 27 28 now something like that um and I F found that weird and even with Jed Spence when Jed Spence came back in between the leads and um genua loans last season he trained with the under 21s I did even incorporate him back into the first team so to kind of see him given a I guess a I don’t want to go as far as say a chance to start a fresh because people will maybe get a little bit um kind of take that in a different way because I think his future lies elsewhere i’ be I’d be stunned if there’s a turnaround in that and you never know I’m not going to Ru I’m gonna say 100% you never know he may be the most incredible trainer absolutely show an that he could be an inverted fullback all of this sort of stuff in the next week or two head but it looks like his future liar elsewhere but it is so weird to see these players suddenly integrating back into a a setup that they weren’t really part of and and like you mentioned there alais you know he had a stinker of a loan at Sevilla and no through no fault of his own just a terribly chosen loan for him um and it’s a big kind of moment for him to come back and I guess show a little bit of of what he’s about and maybe on a different agreed someone like James Madison you know left out of the England squad and comes back and just with a point to prove um but yeah it is it’s weird to see them all kind of thrown back together again in the new training kit as well which uh I think I like I think I like I’m not a massive fan of the kind of the sponsoring blazed across it and all of that but that’s a whole different subject but in terms have you noticed in terms of the sponsor a lot of the young players that have the sponsor on the no because they’re not 18 I know actually some of them would be is it under 21 will be I imagine because they’ll be uh they’ll get the training kit as part of the under 21’s team I imagine will’ll be what in their training room you think Oh I thought you meant as like a betting kind of thing because they might not be old enough to wear a Betting Company I don’t know he could be that know I don’t know how that works someone like Mikey Moore for example was only 16 I don’t know how that works leg there was actually an example last season uh I 15 year old played for black bur in the FA Cup and their sponsor is one of those vaping ones right vaping company and he could wear the sponsor H maybe maybe yeah it could be there you go might stumbled across the right answer somehow between us um but yeah it’s I mean yeah it’s fantastic to see the kind of the the two new Young Lads in there as well um and yeah obviously kind of got the preseason friendlies to come as well and kind of start digging around behind the scenes seeing how they’re settling in I’m sure it’s absolutely fine intrigued to see AR gray looks like he knows quite a few of the youngsters he kind of said that in his interview and I forgot because there’s a bit of moment between him and Jed Spence of course him and Jed were at leads last season and and yes there were other issues as well but technically Archie gr was also keeping Jed Spence out of the right back slot um before he he went away so a tiny bit of rivalry um but they did a very warm greeting it seemed to be between the two of them um I think with actually he arrived with d Scarlet it looks to be from uh the uh video uh when they all entered the reception at hotb way uh you were hiding in the Hedge don’t make that as a video but uh yeah was just actually having a look at look back at uh the plays I actually knows because he did mention that in his uh interview with a club that he’s played with d Dan for the under 20s once Alfie was in that team and I think the under 19s he’ played with Jamie Donley H Luca Guna was in that and Alfie doron was on the bench and Ashley Phillips was captain of the team right so we know’s quite a fair few of them and I think there was uh a bit of a moment in one of the training videos when H he embraced with Jamie Donley so they they obviously know each other from International Duty yeah they definitely seem to be quite a kind of a closeness between those two they get on pretty well and obviously Lucas bergal is hanging around with de Dei the fellow Brahma po boy um Stockholm lad so yeah they um they seem very uh who’s it someone did that actually someone said like I think it was the um the the person that greets them on the social media videos like oh new friend kind of walk his hair is so blonde lucasg isn’t it we’re not going to have any problem from press boxes kind of seeing him on the pitch at any point and working out who had the shot or that made the pass that is a bright bit of blonde hair on his head um as I have seen up close and personal when when when I went out there last not last month the month before that may um yeah fascinated to see how they all fit in how quickly they take to it all whether they’re competing for a spot which they potentially could be um if an decides that arig gr is going to be a a number 18 uh sorry number 18 number eight um for the season or whether he’s going to be a right back or whether he’s going to be all of the above um but yeah now it’s fascinating to seeing the little things and the Dynamics between the players uh a lot of youngsters involved as well aren’t they yeah handful of them uh tyres Hull been one of them Mikey MO two plays have certainly caught andai H Jamie Donley as well yes I mean it’s always the case in preseason when there’s players missing you get a few of the youngsters joining up and the would be an opportunity there for them in these upcoming friendlies against Harts and QPR then I suppose a couple of them probably will make the trip to Japan and South Korea because that’s been the case you know when Macio pochettino was in charge Antonio Conte as well and you know a fair few of them did well uh in the postseason game in Melbourne against Newcastle uh think George Abbotts there training as well uh about Georgia so yeah there is a fair few of it and there will be like I said just looking to make a big impression uh on Andrew just got a funny feeling about George Abbott this season whether it’s at Tottenham or whether it’s on loan I think we will I think people may need just to keep an eye on him I just got a funny feeling that he’s going to be one that is going to be pushed a little bit more towards the first team this season like I say if he doesn’t end up on Alan I think there’s quite um how do I best put this I think they were very pleased with his last year of development obviously got the Premier League appearance under Ryan Mason towards the end of the previous season but I think last year and it was reflected in the fact that he became the essentially the captain of the under 21s uh for much of the kind of second half of the season um and just yeah they’re very pleased with his ability to play in various positions uh mainly a midfielder but he played at right back he actually played at Center back a couple of times as well which might come in handy as we’ll discuss on this preseason um so yeah might be one to keep we kind of so fixed ated on maybe the younger more attacking players Al likes of Mikey Moore Tyrese Hall in the Midfield as well that maybe George abber could actually end up getting some Europa League game time just because I think he’s going to be a little bit of a fixture in this um preseason certainly to begin with and then if he gets on the tour like I say as cover for those um defensive positions yeah he could um make his case for for postao quite well um I’m trying to think who else Luca Gunter of course we mentioned him um Dan Scarlet do you think he’s bulked up a bit looked a little bit kind of stronger around the shoulders all that sort of stuff yeah well I think that was the case last season uh as well is certainly bulked up you can see that I mean that was evident in the Burnley game when he came on and had a impacts in the final third in the last 15 minutes when Mickey vanen scarred it was Burnley wasn’t it yeah it was yes I think so it was I was just getting confused with the Looting game but it wasn’t pretty sure it was B but yeah H Dane certainly looks a bit bigger just need to Spurs will need to decide whether he is to remain with the club uh maybe for the first half of the season are heads out on learn once again he certainly needs them in his because I mean the H switch learn spell was you know not the best of ones in the end I think it was 12 substitute appearances but the thing is if he probably hung on a couple of weeks longer they had George Hurst that he would was out injured a couple of other uh injuries uh so he may have been given more of a shot in those early weeks of January but just wasn’t to be for him yeah they had such contrasting um loan moves some of the players there were some really successful ones and some absolute like I said earlier stinkers of loan moves that were just the wrong fit this is why they got to be so careful this summer if if some of those are heading off on loan um oh little update to the last podcast where we discussed will Lanier I think will can go out on loan I think so from what I understand I was talking to various people within the club and people outside the club as well I think and it’s a very I’m told it’s very complicated which is why I haven’t written an article on it yet because I know that I’m going to get myself tied up in loads of different rules but it boils down to apparently because he signed after the start of the season there is something within that that allows him to head off for a loan for one of those Seasons I don’t know what it is don’t ask me what to explain that any further but I was told that from two different people both who have inner workings of knowledge of all of the rules and everything like that so apparently will actually can head off on a shortterm loan or two if needed um although interestingly I was also told um that because you have to decide on these players whether they become Club trained or not sometimes you sometimes you just might get such a good loan opportunity you think okay well that play is going to be and I was told again this was from One Source I haven’t had this Second Source yet we maybe two of us have to kind of Chase this up apparently Ashley Phillips has now not going to be Cub trained because he had that loan at Plymouth because he arrived earlier before the season started apparently so yeah that’s the choice you have to make I guess as a club isn’t it it’s whether you have a player as say um just to it’s more important to their career to actually get the loan at that point which it could we might find we’re all talking about you know center backs and the like Ashley Phillips was young player of the year for half a season at Plymouth he was that good there’s nothing to suggest he might come back into this preseason POA cogy might go wow that’s been a development and a half he might come in and they might think okay brilliant that’s that’s essentially the four Center back we don’t know where that might end up slightly changing their plans at Center back especially if you’ve got someone like Ben Davies the backup we’re kind of a lot of us myself included thinking oh you probably need a fourth Senior Center back but um G to call him Alfie Divine Ashley Phillips could um have an absolute Stormer of a preseason show that he’s come on Leaps and Bounds and end up getting loads of game time in domestic Cup competitions and Europa League and things like that in which case going back to my original point it was probably a good idea to do that rather than have him as Club trained a couple of years down the line um got to do what’s best for the player at the end of the day you don’t want to be and actually we won’t send him out on L we want him to be Club train you got to do what’s best for the player and not stunt their development in the game really yeah yeah no I agree um I want not sure how that’s going to apply to all of a skip this summer but we’ll see we’ll see whether they you know I’m sure Skippy just wants to play football um but we’ll see what happens with him but yeah it’s not only the players coaching staff as well um new faces there for this preseason yeah uh Nick Montgomery uh Sergio Ray Mundo as well they were at the club Saturday to get down to work with uh and so I’m sure they’ve been looking to make their mark on the training pitch already I know Nick Montgomery you know highly rated in Australia following his s at Central Coast Mariners think qu uh White didn’t really work for him uh hibs but him and Ray Munda you know they are a bit of a a team that work together at both clubs both highly rated in the game Ray Mundo’s got a lot of experience as well started off at Benfica so you know two uh experienced figures to bring into the coaching team uh so yeah hopefully that does bwell going forward yeah and as we said before how does that Dynamic work within a coaching setup bringing in a manager and his assistant right slap bang in the middle of it I’m intrigued to see hopefully they use it to their advantage you know it’s two guys that are used to working with each other know each other’s strengths and and maybe weaknesses but we’ll say strengths um and yeah it’s uh G to be an interesting one for Matty Wills to kind of excert his authority straight off the bat um over someone that is what is he 42 43 something like that 44 maybe um certainly in their 40s when when he’s still a young coach himself um and maybe that’s part of the test maybe that’s what polu wants as well to kind of uh it’s it’s a good skill for a manager to have because often young managers will go into situations where they’ll have some of the players will be older than him I think as an had himself when he started out as a coach so maybe it’s all part of his development um yeah intrigued to see what they bring certainly seem to be two very disciplined coaches from everything that I’ve read about them so no one’s going to be able to kind of slack off or get away with anything in training sessions there’s a little military background certainly with romondo and the I think it’s the dad of Montgomery as well was in the um the Armed Forces so yeah yeah very they’re very much disciplined and organized background and that should come out on the training pitches and yeah just interested to see how a bigger coaching staff works as well um and more kind of portioning out of what they do um seen so far Matt wells in photos Millie yedinak in photos he’s almost gave Pedro porro a bit of a kind of a headlock didn’t he got him in at one point um haven’t seen the new coaches yet in thing or I don’t think I’ve seen Ryan Mason stuff but then it’s one of those where that doesn’t mean they’re not there it’s a bit like Troy parrot like Troy parrot hasn’t popped up in anything yet but from what I understand he has been in the building and he was doing he certainly was doing some rehab work after a little injury had on International Duty last month so it may be that we just haven’t seen him yet um and again another one that I think um likely to be heading off ased alar seem to be leading the way for him just haven’t been able to agree a fee as of recording this um but yeah it’s very much I’m sure uh the photographer Spurs who’s a very nice chap um if we’re allowed to name him or not I don’t know how that works I probably not just in case it’s not something we’re supposed to do but he’s a a lovely Chap and uh having seen how he works he has like thousands of photos from each day he then has to a go through on his laptop and work out which are the ones he’d want to be shown anyway and then B send that to Spurs to kind of tick off what’s allowed to be shown and stuff I certainly remember this wasn’t at Spurs This was um reporting on previous clubs there were certain let’s say managers at previous clubs at a high level that uh did not want to be ever photographed in a training session from a certain side there were some managers that didn’t want to any of themselves or the players to be shown smiling during training sessions because that showed that they were having a laugh and not being being serious about it all so honestly you would be stunned at the amount of kind of um kind of hurdles and Hoops that photographers have to go through just to have a photo make it to see the light of day um some players that you know maybe one day they’re training on their own and the club don’t want that to be out there and again this is General this is not just Spurs but uh yeah it must be a fascinating life that kind of uh following around taking photos probably seeing a lot of stuff that many people will never know and taking photos of stuff that maybe I don’t know I’m sure there’s been instances over the the years when a player’s even gone as far as doing a medical and being set to sign for a club and it never happened um and that photographers probably taking the official photos that never seen the light of day I certainly know of one outside Tottenham where that all happened and it didn’t see the light of day I mean Dan jumer probably got to that stage didn’t he Everton the first time before Spurs got him uh probably I think Dan James was one as well uh at leads I think before he then went to Manu and then eventually back to leads uh but yeah that’s happened terms of the training photos did you see the ones Emerson uploaded and how he captioned it on his Instagram page the king is back the king is back well he is Royal so yeah makes sense makes sense he wears t-shirts the boss and stuff like that doesn’t he he’s got such a brilliant aura about him though hasn’t he he just comes across as the nicest guy this is one of those kind of players who whether it works out for him at Spurs or whether he ends up AC Milan this summer it’s very difficult to kind of like dislike him not that you you know I know there are some people that probably would want to dislike him but certainly he just seems such a nice guy um and he’s been desperate to do mix Zone interviews hasn’t he and they just kind of haven’t quite being at the stage yet with his English I think to really let him loose on that um but I’d imagine if he is still at the Club in preseason I wouldn’t be shocked if we end up getting an interview with him because uh he’s kind of champing at the bit to do that he’s got lot better English and I think richison who’s been there far longer in the in the country as well so uh yeah now he’s got a very funny way about him and I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about him behind the scenes whatsoever yeah uh Sonny’s back at hot spway as well wasn’t initially there I think Saturday and Sunday when the rest of the players returned he was back there on Monday and quite the welcome for him as well because it was his 32nd birthday so a number of balloons was uh waiting for him at the door and had a number of messages as well from his teammates no idea what some of them said because it was the native language they could yeah I was surprised they didn’t do subtitles yeah uh but he’s back uh yeah I think he had couple of days off extra because I mean South Korea is last friendly of the summer against China that was like June the 11th or something around ex date uh yeah so he’ll be back looking to make his Mark and hopefully lead Spurs to Glory this season yeah well just thinking about it YouTube I think automatically generates caption so we might have been able to understand what they’re saying if it was on YouTube um again talking about Emerson he did like a speech he did like a really long speech on Sonny um yeah he um got extra couple of days to kind of syn up with the slightly longer International period he had um I watched there’s a video I did a little article on it the reception he got in South Korea when he left from Indian International Airport how they found out he was going in the first place although to be fair two years ago I noticed that in in South Korea and I’m sure I’ll see it again this summer the fans over there are incredibly good at finding out where everything is and what the WEA players hold hell is and stuff like that um I mean I’ve always getting various messages on various social media from from fans wherever Spurs G where are they saying where’s this happening South Korean fans just seem to know how they do it it’s incredible detective work and yeah there was this really lovely scene where I don’t know how because they didn’t entirely turn the camera on so you couldn’t see as in on them so you couldn’t see how many were there was so many fans certainly arms stretched out handing him birthday cards as he left from Soul um and someone had made a take and he blew out the candle and all this sort of stuff and he had all these kind of um like security around him he’s handing all there like this poor security guard who probably couldn’t have ever even tackled someone because he had a mountain of birthday cards he was holding anyway um but yeah just just the love they have for him is incredible it’s it’s like nothing we kind of have over here we kind of like respect players and we kind of um see them as celebrities I guess the public too but in South Korea it’s just this adoration for him and everything he’s done for the country in terms of as a player and also I guess representing the country abroad in such a great way and uh yeah it it was just so cool and then I guess he goes from that being this very kind of humble person with the fans and he goes straight into probably quite the Ladish atmosphere of the changing room and you see him mucking about with the players it’s uh yeah it’s quite a fascinating little juer position but um yeah good to have him back and I think I do think I’ve seen some people saying like you know he’s getting old needs to re replace and I just keep looking back at his numbers for last season 17 goals and 10 assists in 35 Premier League games if that’s declining wow I wish I was declining at that rate because that’s incredible um yeah I think he’s still going to have a very big season ahead left wing or up front left wing much better left wing uh I think he’s a bit wasted up front that’s not his game playing through the middle saw that time and time again towards the back end of last season much more effective uh from the left side I imagine he’ll be there Rich Allison through the middle unless they can get another new striker in through the door yeah I think so I think that’s where he’ll be um he’s that kind of position where even if he ends up losing a little bit of pace over the next I don’t know 12 24 months or whatever I just think he’s got so much Gile and ability to get past players and cut in on that um right foot to shoot as well um yeah he’ll be absolutely fine and uh yeah as the captain as well carrying on from where we left off last season yeah so you’ll be in South Korea soon so let’s see what kind of reception you get at the airport when when you step off the plane I’m sure no one will care in the slightest I think I get Oh No actually that’s that’s Tokyo first isn’t it I think I’m there in the afternoon when we come that I I I would imagine if there’s anyone there it’s because they’re waiting for the players um I don’t know if they’ll get there before or after me um and uh yeah I’ll pretend it’s for me if I come out accidentally ahead of the players or something I’ll uh yeah I’ll pretend that I’ve getting some kind of evation but uh to be fair two years ago the South GRE fans were very nice they’re very pleasant to me you know people that listen to the podcast or or or know about our work and stuff were very pleasant so um hoping that’s the same again and I don’t get like anything thrown at me or anything but no it it’ll be a great time it’s a it’s a beautiful country and it’s a very cool City so as well and looking forward to seeing Japan hoko and like yourself I have not been there before so I’m very much looking forward to that as well yeah whilst you’re away of course you’ll be using uh ND VPN weren’t you so let description box so we’re uh just over a week away from tottenham’s first official pre-season game of the summer they’ll be going to T Castle to take on hearts but they actually have a behind closed doors friendly uh on Saturday against Cambridge United Cambridge League one team H I think Gary monks they’re managing now uh so yeah that’s going to be opportunity for the Spurs plays you know let’s get the first minutes under the belt in pre-season I noticed last weekend I think Crystal Palace had played s United in the behind closed our game did look at the pictures if uh any sighting of Ryan ceson but couldn’t see him but yeah good opportunity there for quite a few at Spurs uh to get those minutes in up the fitness then they also try and catch and posa cogo’s eye yeah you just reminded me I need to check in on what’s happening with CES actually uh and find out because it’ll be wonderful if he gets a contract there um yeah Cambridge United this weekend I was kind of aware in recent months there was likely to be a be behind closed doors friendly on that first weekend he likes to kind of get them into game scenario was quite early on they don’t normally take the form of a normal game the early behind closed doors ones they’re normally and it might be different this time but often in the past we’ve had it uh split into three 30 minute segments instead um rather than the usual 245s and that way uh you can kind of stop it uh every half an hour to either change up the players depending on the fitness but also kind of use that as more like it’s almost like a not quite but almost a glorified training session of sorts uh and have a proper chat with everyone and there’s definitely more kind of instruction coming from the sidelines as well um and yeah well um it’s a funny one it’s one of those where it’s kind of unofficial so whether Spurs put anything out about it afterwards sometimes they have in the past occasionally um I’m that day I’m actually at the under 21s they’re playing uh Enfield town away that day it’s it’s kind of the first official friendly of the summer really if you’re looking at the whole club so I’m there so I’m only about whatever 5 miles down the road or whatever it is so I’m hoping I’ll hear little bits and pieces from it um but yeah they’ve said in the past though aren’t they Comm played M well during the World Cup yeah 22 uh did they actually publish highlights of that one in the end they might have done uh was that the one they actually showed on Spurs play or something like that or whatever the version was back then it could be I think they played Petra as well at some point I remember yeah but was that different because it was the World Cup type thing maybe but you know clubs do publish information on the website so Cambridge might do I suppose it depends on the result at the end of the day as well well that’s it and also because it’s a 330 minute seg if it is a 33 segment 30 minute segment then it’s quite difficult to kind of quantify that as a match it’s almost like matches in one with all the changes so uh but yeah could be a first chance to see Archer gr and Lucas bergal in the um the Tottenham colors um and playing and how well they do I remember actually one of those pre-or cup ones um Jed Spence looking really good or sorry postor cup friendlies um and yeah whether he’s involved in these or not or whether it’s a bit like last summer when you know he he wasn’t really involved in the tour games um yeah it’s uh I think they’re a week ahead in their preseason Cambridge as well so Fitness wise that’s probably quite good for the players to be up against that sort of stuff um and whether you see someone like Sonny or not because it’s quite early on and he may still be you know a few days behind the rest but uh yeah just no injuries would be great and um yeah get working before those official ones start happening and they’re quite quick succession after that as well um you got got Hearts got QPR then they fly off on the tour you got three matches over there return to play Bayern twice in a row have a double dose of Eric Dyer this summer um I’m hoping he gets put up in the press conference the Bayern press conference I’ve put down to kind of be able to go to that with the logic that maybe it’ll be Eric Dy obviously can’t see any chance Harry Kane is going on that tour um with his involvement with England at this stage but certainly Eric Dy will be there um it’ be interesting he’s done a couple of interviews since leaving which have obviously been quite open and honest and now this will be the first time technically after his contract will have finished at Tottenham as well so he could be even more open about stuff um so yeah hoping to get him out there in uh in Soul that would be fantastic but um yeah cob United is a good start it’s it’s a good uh you can’t read too much into it it’s one of those where you know the score line means nothing it’s about minutes in the legs and this is why it’s so difficult to ask poao after or any manager after any preseason match like what did you take from that game because it’s like they played they played football that’s it you know you could get a certain idea especially last summer that they were taking on aspects of his football uh that would be the interesting thing maybe for us watching on um whether we see new developments to the system and tweaks to the philosophy because he’s always said the second year is when you can start to add more layers of the tactics because the players have the idea of the system kind of more down pat so uh yeah it’ll be interesting to see whether we see little tweaks and changes in that regard and and whether we see yeah even formation changes within it at all um but yeah that’ll probably come I’d say by the tours when you’re going to start to see the those sort of stuff yeah and during these games coming up against Cambridge Hearts QPR there’s a lack of center backs currently at SP because drag SS uh played at the Euros Romero’s away with Argentina Micky Van de Ben still at the Euros with Holland uh so an opportunity there for Ashley Phillips and potentially gonna see one of Ben Davis or maybe Emison ryel operating as a center back again but I think for Phillips it’s a really good opportunity because uh the postseason friendly against Newcastle was actually his first Tottenham game because he’d signed I think probably was he just early August so he might have been on the bench for the Barcelona friendly um in Mt at the stadium I can’t actually remember but he definitely didn’t get on so it is you know coming off the back of a really good Lo spell with Plymouth There’s an opportunity there for him because if he can demonstrate that he is such a good Defender because he’s highly regarded at at Spurs and he was at blackb at Plymouth as well that you know he could potentially be that far Center back as you mentioned earlier yeah it could be like you say he was quite bright against Newcastle in that that postseason friendly remember one really good interception he’s made um I think he had a certainly one maybe two games the under 21s right towards the end of the season um yeah I think this is an important little period for him to essentially be the go-to center back um alongside you’d think Ben Davies uh certainly if Emerson does head off um but obviously yeah with the amount of changes you have to do in the preseason FR is going to get mixed up a little bit yeah I was trying to think who else I mean r drin maybe could be back for the tour if you work out they normally get three weeks of rest after a tournament that would take him very close to the date they fly off so either he joins them to fly off or maybe meets them out there which can happen as well it’s got to be agreed really between the player and and the coaching staff and and how much they want to give him because obviously he had a brilliant Euros he was so good some really kind of physically tough games as well for Romania so I think you want to make sure he gets as much rest as possible really and also he’s kind of had that weird like in a way extended preseason with Spurs having come in January he kind of knows what it’s all about so he doesn’t have to learn too much about the system um yeah but I suppose there is a chance for him with Romero and the V be way yeah you want to you know take that opportunity in impr press and Chelsea returned to preseason training yesterday uh Miko mudrick was back on the first day his last game for Ukraine at the Euros was you know 12 days earlier so he’s quite clearly sacrificed his full summer break because he wants to impress the manager yeah it could happen yeah we we’ve seen Spurs we’ve seen them come back very quickly sometimes that 3we thing is is an option that’s there uh of which the player can take in full if they want but absolutely they don’t have to um yeah I I think coming back for the tour makes the most sense for him but whether he comes back a little bit early we’ll see I was trying to look at others that could maybe step in and help out I mean like I said George Abbott would be a good shout I think having played the role a couple of times uh for the under 21s mostly at right back or Midfield last season um towards the end is because Alfie dorington it’s such a shame Alfie dorington would definitely be getting game time this um summer in pron preseason but unfortunately because he had those couple of hamstring injuries last year the surgery for the second one I don’t know whether he’s going to be back until maybe August maybe even pushing September if they’re going to be cautious with him because he he’s I think he’s quite a quick healer but he came back reasonably quickly last time and then obviously had another hamstring problem so they’re going to be so wary this time so the people that filled in really for him towards the end of the season is dant Dante kasanova he played much of the second half of the Season at Center back for Wayne Bennett’s team and then there was also Tyrell Ashcroft uh came in uh he’s a right back mainly but he came in towards the end a couple of times for for dorington as well so there’s a few options there um or who knows Spurs could push to sign someone everything I was hearing certainly in previous weeks has been that the center back uh role you know if they were going to sign someone it would be more towards the end of the window um but then maybe you look at the situation right now and if there was someone that popped up in the market as an experienced head on a good deal maybe you bring them in but I’m a bit like you I’d like to see Ashley Phillips kind of given a bit of a chance to to show what he could do and uh you know there’s a lot of Buzz about him when Spurs signed him um so uh again we come down to this old balance don’t we new signings or give the young players a chance to prove that they can come through and be as good as anyone out there um we’ll see what posu decides yeah uh one final thing before we head off there’s uh the TV dates for the Premier League games in August and September they were announced I think it was Friday uh Spurs will be heading to Newcastle United Sunday September the 1st now no idea on what what time that game is going on the kickoff that’s uh TBC for whatever reason uh because there’s fre games that day there’s Chelsea against Crystal Palace and Manu against Liverpool neither of them uh have a set kickoff time yet so I don’t know if you’ll be heading to St James’s Park early on that Sunday morning or a bit of a later start oh I don’t know they like to like to put some there’s always a couple of really awkward way trips of the fans there’s always ones where you think why have you done that time cuz let’s be honest I think the fans are probably the last concern when they’re looking down the potential kickoff times and dates yeah uh Arsenal at home uh Sunday the 15th of September 2m kickoff I mean that’s usually the case in it Northland and Darby 2 pm uh and then end of September Sunday the 29th Manchester United away at Old Trafford 430 kickoff that’s going to be shown live on Sky Sports that is as a result of Spurs playing in the Europa League their first uh game in the new league phase is a couple of days earlier so they’re the ones that are set in stone think the Everton’s 3M in Saturday uh the first home game of the season and yeah then there’s an international break coming up straight after that Newcastle
