How To SHORTEN Your Swing, Without Losing Distance

*** Full Swing Master Class HERE *** https://fullswingmasterclass.porzakgolf.com/

In this video, Adam goes over how to shorten the backswing to the top without losing distance. Creating this compact swing creates more efficiency in the downswing ultimately gaining more yards on your shots. This forces the bigger body parts to do the rotating versus just your arms.

I’ve had multiple players this week that I’ve worked with that have had breakdowns at the top of their swing and I’ve got a new one I know I keep it consistent on this channel but I got a new a new little way of wording how to move it from here to here that I’m actually going to debut for you in the lesson today think of a roller coaster going up to the top what do you hear right if I’m here and I get the set position locked in a great way to get this to translate right away cuz if you think golf ball guess what’s going to happen arms break down get narrow slap at it no we need to get here not change the connection not change the distance between not change the arm structure and that’s going to happen only at one pace a snail’s pace right now and then explode right because here’s the thing doesn’t matter how slow you’re going if the connection’s the same and you’re loading yeah once you get there you should be able to still explode the same way so what I want you to do when we’re when we get in here here’s how we’re going to do this today we’re going to set the we’re going to set up perfectly we’re going to go righty rendition ready there there we’re going to nail this down and we’re literally just going to go very slow to the top and build it so you have the perfect turn paired with the nice arm structure and then you’re going to be able to athletically respond from there feel the handle and the hip Voom right through together okay set the club and hold it I don’t care how you hit this ball good just turn a little more and hit it I mean that’s that’s all we’re going to do and here’s the thing this is fantastic and all I don’t want to see for you feeling like there’s any increase of angle there I want to see you just like turn this up there feeling like I’m done that’s it and then you see when you do it normal you’re always going to have that little athletic move that you’ve had see the see the right elbow I’m sorry your left elbow it continues to run off that we got to get rid of that that swing was done back here the roller coaster analogy ready no care of hitting the golf ball not even worryed about it set do right that a boy that a boy do that and then drive the heck out of that handle and literally just going what feels like to shoulder High I mean you know it’s it’s it’s crazy like because when I do this I want you guys to know I’m literally feeling like I go right to shoulder high right here okay and those are just here and I just literally just move my shoulder from here under my chin and unwind and it’s right back to where it needs to be doing the roller coaster routine why don’t you do that for one second here where we literally pause it halfway back and watch we’re just going to go so slow and then hit it yeah so here we go get set get the set position right there Then ready that’s it yeah like that was your best one by far as far as the length of your golf swing oh dude how much better was that the length is so much better the role that your Trail arm plays in eliminating extra swing is huge when I get here and I have that arm closer to this lead arm here and that elbow’s under my shoulder and pinched in and I just feel like the funny bone stays pointed at the golf ball I can’t do anything more now ready for this that try alarm also plays a massive rle on forward shling you watch this that right arm driving in front of my body left arm for you look how it drives the handle forward if that right arm breaks down and stays on the side of my body it’s a guaranteed flip so when you get in here and you’re going from here to the top it’s that arm staying in position and then getting back in front of you that’s going to be your key so this guy will be the X Factor to what we’re working on cuz it’s one thing to say stop but when it always has that little extra give it’s coming from this guy just collapsing how about this right if that trail elbow were to get over here you see that look what that just did to that Golf Club yeah that happened Kev get in front of me again go halfway back I want I I just want our viewer to see what that did you already got the Feeling here but go back there again when I grabbed Chris’s elbow I pulled it in this way and look at the handle there it is right on behalf of Mike and I both at poor Zack offl we are so excited to announce that both of our complete Game clinics at the end of July have sold out on the East Coast with requests still coming in we had to open up one more July 29th and July 30th accommodations at Foxwood Resort and Casino golf at Lake of Isles in beautiful Stonington Connecticut you guys our clinics are awesome we have a blast doing them get in on the action and sign up today the set position you got that it’s just the extra runoff and the understanding of not letting your arms get behind you and further behind you right keeping them in front of you and then the feeling of getting them back in front of you this this advice out there of like keeping your hands passive and like doesn’t make any sense they’re traveling way farther than your body right hand speeds a thing look at every PGA Tour player they their hands fly from the top faster than the body’s rotation if I would left them let them be here’s what it would look like literally you know and I’d be literally swinging as fast as my hips rotated but the thing about it is when you look at the difference here here that was me taking it literally a ball went 40 yard from that position right here watch this even the short position watch how Asser of my hands are you know what I mean and what’s funny is that was the best one effortlessly of any of them right there and that was me thinking fast hands yes my hip opened up but those hands were caught up with it now the reason why I keep attacking the length of your back swing is because this the extra at the top gets the hands and club Behind the shoulders so that when that shoulder starts backing out the first move is going to always go this way right and that’s why if you eliminate the extra arm swing and you’re here well it’s going to go right back down in the same direction that it went back so that’s why when people watch you know my swing and they go God how do you get it so shallow and but at the same time it always comes down right on top of the golf ball well the reason being is because when I’m here my chest is fully facing my hands so when I redirect it just goes right back down if my chest wasn’t facing my hands you know it would it would obviously come over the top but it just goes up right back down when you get it I promise you it feel it feels that way beautiful dude much better yeah not a boy at poor Zack golf we take a lot of pride in having developed some of the best and most consistent golf swings on the planet we do this through Simplicity our full swing master class will take you on a stepbystep easy to understand process on how to get your golf swing better than ever join the mini before you who’ve utilized our full swing Master Class to take their games to the next level and Beyond [Music]

  1. That s for me the most difficult thing to do..Arms want to go too far behind de body..looks easy to correct but that not..
    Thank you from France.

  2. Just started watching and absolutely love your channel. I’m still pretty terrible so would love to see you do a lesson with a high handicapper!

  3. Coach Adam, I’m 5’7” generally speaking, would you recommend a flatter lie angle for irons (1-2 degrees) for my height? Appreciate it!

  4. Porzak, . Started taking golf seriously 3 years ago. Your videos are money. Went from 99 to 76 from 6800 yards. Wish you were closer to Florida. Be cool to have a live lesson. I'm 6'4" with big hands , at the top or transition is the only time I feel like I don't have full control of club all the time. Definitely feels like that's where my bad swings come from. Great videos dude!

  5. I guess each person needs different feels for their swing flaws. My tendency is to rush my transition and start my downswing by pulling on the club with my hands. This leads to improper sequencing and poor shots. The feeling of gathering everything at the top of my backswing and my hands being a bit passive in transition is what helps my sequencing and timing.

  6. Hi Adam –

I’m thinking about how to apply the “Do Do Do” rollercoaster thought with the 90%-10% feel from your previous videos.

Is it right to think that the “Do Do Do” is the same as the “90%”? I think that’s correct but in this video the “Do Do Do” portion doesn’t visually look like it’s taking up 90% of the turn

    Thank you!!!

  7. It took me 2 years to change my swing from full to 3/4 back and trough and consistently do it. Feel and real are different, when i thought I'd mastered it my 3/4 swing was actually a full swing, had to go waist high to waist high it was actually ear to ear. But was worth it, way more consistent without any loss of distance.

  8. This channel has improved my game so much. I wish I could come to the CT clinics since I live in NJ, but I will be on vacation at that time.

I would love to see a video with a high handicapper (I'm literally a 33 handicap beginner). I'm very inconsistent, I'll hit a nice 7 iron 155 yards and then duff the next shot 40 yards on the ground. Usually topping it when I have misses or sending the ball left.
