people who have maybe watched a video of mine or other people’s videos and it’s oh I’m going to try that we’ll go to here one time boom and then maybe hit it it doesn’t work and they go ah not do that I’ll try something else [Music] hey gophers and welcome back to my YouTube channel in today’s video we’re going to talk about changing your golf swing if you are somebody who wants to change your golf swing and really does want to change it I’m going to talk about what’s actually required to make that change it’s a little alarming at first but if you really want it you’re going to want to stick if there’s anything that I can help you out with in your golf game let’s get started okay we all want to change our golf swing all right unfortunately not all of us are lucky enough to come out of the wom like Rory and swinging at class you look at his golf swing when he’s in his living room as a three-year-old it’s very similar to what he does now okay so unfortunately for a lot of us we don’t have these nice golf swings I’m put myself in this as well I’ve worked really really hard on my gol swing and I’m going to talk about how I made lasting change which allows me even now not being able to play a whole lot of golf anymore but when I do go out I can still get the ball around because I’ve spent the hours and the time actually changing my swing this is something I’m really passionate about because we want everything not just you guys me too but it’s just Society we want something quick easy fix unfortunately in the goal swing that’s not the case all right so when we’re changing our swing and what we’re going to do today is we’re going to use the example of the takeaway all right now how many times maybe something in your swing let’s use the takeway as example I set up to this ball I’ve got my lesson my golf lesson I’ve seen a video I thinking right there’s where I want to be that’s that’s good why when I hit a shot then and video it do I go in here okay well that’s because that movement pattern isn’t developed okay now here is the part where some of you might flick off and think I’m not prepared to do that but for the ones that do you will find the change all right so repetition okay and I’m constantly preaching this and people are probably like oh repetition again you know change doesn’t happen after one repetition I can’t stand there and go right I want my takeway here do it one time and expect me to hit a shot and it just fall into that okay because people go my practice swing’s great that’s Grand that’s because you can you can put it in that position and then when you hit a ball your old movement pattern comes back in okay so bit of a tangent repetition 300 to 500 is when move starts to or change starts to happen to this movement pattern okay at around 3 to 500 is when your brain starts to adapt to that New Movement pattern all right we’re going to talk a little bit how to get more reps in and how those reps should be good quality and not just halfhazard reps okay now 3 to 5,000 is when the movement pattern actually develops and that is your old one’s gone the new one is developed okay now I am a testment to this because when I first find this out I said okay I’m going to get in front of a mirror and I’m going to rep this out as many times as I can I kept chart bit weird but kept a tally of how many times I had done it okay and I knew that when I reached that 3,000 5,000 that I would have achieved a new movement pattern and some people will vary you might have you know some people might get it after two some people might take six now that sounds really hard to get but if we take this takeaway example and we set up to a golf ball and I have for my simple maths if we say we’re hitting 50 balls at the range I go 50 balls and I think right I’m just going to work on my takeway well that’s not very good cuz you got 50 reps you don’t even know if the ones that you hit the ball with were the right ones when I’m trying to get the takeaway into here so before each shot I would go one then check happy with that then two good three there now the fourth one I’m GNA hit okay so I know I got three good ones and potentially a fourth good one I hit 50 balls there’s 200 now over time if you can just commit to that you’ll not take long racking up those reps like there’s 200 I’m already nearly at my 300 to 500 couple of do that I’ll try something else haven’t even give it time and I see this all the time when I’m coaching particularly when I’m changing somebody’s grip because it feels so awkward they hit the first 20 30 shots terrible now you’d have backed out ages ago only for the fact that I was standing there going it’s okay keep doing it keep doing it and then the shots start to come because your brain starts to adapt to the new move okay really important this one I know it’s probably a little bit of a rant so feel like I’m shouting at you I’m not but it’s so important I have done this and it’s scientifically proven it’s like neural circuitry and everything in the body and the brain that makes this happen so if you truly want to change your swing you have to put in the work the Reps and I know we’re all busy and but the ball the Brian doesn’t know if you’re hitting the ball or not it can literally just go all right well at home I got to get three to 500 reps say a week well if I went out a couple nights a week and just worked on this and every night I did 100 okay and you can take breaks you can do 25 take a break 25 take a break trust me it will work make sure those reps are
