Davis Thompson shoots 7-under 64 | Round 4 highlights | John Deere

In the final round of the 2024 John Deere Classic, Davis Thompson cruised to victory with a 7-under par 64 to claim his first PGA TOUR victory.

With just five weeks remaining before the FedExCup Playoffs, the PGA TOUR heads to the Quad Cities for the John Deer Classic. Jordan Spieth returns to the John Deere Classic for the first time since 2015. Spieth is a two-time winner at TPC Deere Run including in his last appearance nine years ago when he shot a third-round 61. Spieth’s 2013 victory at the John Deere Classic was his first TOUR title. Reigning champion Sepp Straka aims to become the first repeat winner since Steve Stricker won three in a row from 2009-2011. The Austrian is currently 17th in the FedExCup standings and has four top-10 finishes so far this year. Jason Day is another contender with four top-10 finishes in 2024 and returns to TPC Deere Run for the first time since 2011. Day has never missed the cut at the John Deere Classic in five appearances, with his best finish (T15) coming in back-to-back years, 2009-10. Other names to look out for this week include Sungjae Im, J.T. Poston, Jake Knapp, Aaron Rai and Joel Dahmen.

head up to number three can’t they just use the the right te to save some steps that’s what I’m For You especially 268 to that tree in the center of the Fairway which he can carry but he hates this one he lost his t- shot at the second hole to the right and got it was very fortunate not quite as fortunate there at the fourth you’re right about choking down to the steel oh that’s just so well what a show he is putting on it is an absolute stripe show here for Davis Thompson he has another birdie opportunity after a spectacular approach shot at the par 4 to 27 under what an opening nine for Davis Thompson t- shot at 10 Frank the only Club that’s given him a little bit of trouble today is the driver missed four Fairways on his opening nine make it five now but just played as a three shotter I think you just have to play smart but the main thing is you’ve got to play games with yourself when you see yourself way in front as you said I won by 13 it was the next three holes I’m going to play the next three holes one under I’m going to hit it inside 10t on this short Par Four I was just playing games with myself and my caddy he was a big part of that as well just a perfect angle has a slope long and left he can use to bring it back but he’s taking it right at it oh a little bit of spin it is such a good shot isn’t [Applause] it sit it up in the middle of the poter hit it out of the middle chances are it’s going to go in work done hitting some lower ones um kind of the low bullet for accuracy there’s that right Miss again oh look out right this is way right fortunate to get the cart path to kick him in a generally decent Direction and it kicked it back the other way swing with the slope yeah shoulders and even hips too is that any good fantastic exclamation point yeah Tournament winning shot right there as Ian said this could be a tournament winner to get to 28 got it big birdie for Davis Thompson R this one up the very right side could be close oh what a bounce long and perfect for Davis Thompson couldn’t have driven it any better best t- shot of the day just a wedge left 325 from the T 153 into the center of the green that’s all he needed two putts for the tournament record [Applause] looking good really good lag effort he can mark that with confidence let the other guys putt out and then enjoy the moment Davis Thompson remember the name his first career PGA Tour win big hug there from Jo and here comes his wife for that congratulatory kiss and hug emotional moment so good player that doesn’t show a whole lot of motion until now where does this emotion come from uh I mean just seeing my wife um it just means a lot I love her so much and so thankful that she was able to make it and uh yeah I mean I just tried to stay present all day and when that putt finally went in just big sour relief you are now a PGA Tour winner in just your 63rd start on the PGA tour you told me yesterday I have been doing so much work behind the scenes and I’m now starting to see the results how gratifying is it to to see what all that hard work just did yeah it’s great um yeah like you said I’ve been working hard this year um it was it was okay for a while then I kind of got going this last month and uh played well last week and just kept tried to keep it rolling this week and uh was able to uh able to get the win Holly Grace also told me that you told her before this week I’m going to qualify into the Open Championship she said he did it I don’t think it’s actually that easy how important was it for you to accomplish that mission and now continue you on for the rest of the season yeah I mean qualifying for the open was a just a added incentive into this and um you know the goal was to win the golf tournament after this week or after uh getting getting here this week and then um yeah got off to a great start and was able to uh finish it off the lore now of the Trophy House continues for the third year in a row are you going to give up this house next year or we just going to see you right back here no definitely not I think I have to pay for the whole house now which which is unfortunate but um I I’ll gladly
