hello and welcome along to the Racing Post Sweet Spot brought to you by AK bets a week of Carnage on the golf and a couple of tournaments to preview the main man is on the punter’s bag again this week Steve Palmer Steve so close yet so far last week yeah I mean it’s literally all happened since we last spoke um it’s no surprise that the internet and the shed has imploded due to the strain of it all um we had two second places last week and so the golf was was pretty heartbreaking but at least we got football uh the football is uh is joyous in many ways is it well we are in the quarterfinals we are Euro 2024 uh so we got to be happy about that and um and you’re a bit horse because of the Greyhound Derby I know you get a little bit over excited on Greyhound Derby finals night um the PO count that or the pollen count po count yeah combination of the two so we got a lot to discuss Dave I’ll be directed on you on where we’re going to start right okay well I’ll tell you where we are going to start we’re going to start with uh letting you know how you can get uh some free bets and Moler the welcome offer off of AK bets now if you open an account with AK bets P your first bet on any golf Market you’ll get 50% of your stake back as a free BET up to £25 terms of conditions apply qualifying bet minimum 10 to 11 and your code Sweet Spot 25 so if you haven’t got an AK bets account get yourself one and use that code Sweet Spot 25 and get punted away on the golf right we will start then with what was a roller coaster Italian Open Steve um your man Tom McKibben was in the clubhouse a long time before everyone else the win picked up on the back nine and he was a big Runner and you telling me that just before we started rolling that he went a very short price as well yeah that 10 underpar Clubhouse Mark looked like it was going to get the job done martial cm started round four impressively but his backline performance was was abysmal he was four overp par for his first eight holes of that back nine so he’s going up the 72nd hole needing a birdie to match our man Tom mckibban in the clubhouse he’s hacked his way out that hole is it a poor drive is it a poor second but a putter the putter often gets you out of trouble don’t he had a 22 foot birdie part on the 72 hole drains that so it goes to a playoff McKibben played okay on the playoff but missed a you mid-range birdie Putt and then CM makes birdie to to win the playoffs so yeah mckin was 20s on at one point uh CM went up that final hole um the tournament finished five minutes before the England uh the England football game so yeah yeah got me yeah at least I had something to distract me after that yeah I can imagine yes see it was hugely annoying I mean Tom McKibben you know looked out of it but then Marcel cm and antoan Rosner both both imploded and um yeah I thought McKibben was going to win um and um yeah yeah we we’ll have to wait he took it he took it well didn’t he mck and all smiles did you know C went to the train station they had to they had to fetch his caty back from the train station because um his CTI assumed that they weren’t going to get the chance of a playoff so yeah dramatic events on the DP World Tour and just a good example of kind of being aware of what is going on Steve because I’m sure there are plenty of people watching the golf and not watching the in running market and not really being aware of what was going on in front of them the fact that are these they’ll pick up shots down the back somewhere and win this when really because of our conditions then and it really deteriorated it was a really tough course to play you know they were trying to they were struggling to keep it in play just in general that all of a sudden that 10 under was was a big score absolutely yeah I was texting a friend who had a had a significant bet on McKibben because you asked at the end of the podcast last week didn’t you what’s the best bet of the week and this fell likes to have just one bet like a lot of lot of golf punters do um so he he he had a significant bet on on mckb and was quite demoralized going to the final round I was texting him just saying look look at the weather forecast look at the weather forecast he had Breezy expected to be Breezy for the for the closing stretch for the leaders and the the greens were drying out as well weren’t they so you know he’d given up early doors I I texted him in the morning trying to keep his morale up and said look it’s going to be hard for him and then as it as it as it all happened it looked like um yeah it did look like McKim was going to win and then I don’t mind losing to to good ones that other punters of batch you know like that I always find solace in knowing that other punters are going to be happy but I don’t think any punters were happy with that because he’s 125 to one he’s just come back from hip surgery he’s not played well since the hip surgery I don’t think anyone’s back marel CM if if you have come into the comments section and make me feel a little bit better about what happened because um as I say I I hate it when I you know like like a Skinner beats our man you know yeah you could imagine AK in a dart room somewhere grinning ear to ear of course and you’re not a Man Steve I know for a fact that that greens up or trades out are you so you was just wearing that one I was just wearing that one yeah I I I always think like if I was at home would I have done anything would have done anything different because I was sat in a in a holiday park actually that’s got a big screen getting ready for the England game um and obviously following it on my phone and I you can’t fiddle when you’re just you know watching Sky Go on your phone because it’s a little bit behind so you don’t have a chance to trade but I wouldn’t have done anything yeah I I I kid myself if I think I would have done anything I thought McKibben was a certainty when CM because cm’s head looked like it had gone all credit for him for for stabilizing and making Birdie on that last hole I mean he’s a proven Champion that’s a sixth DP World Tour title for him at the age of 43 but he hadn’t play well for so long um but yeah we live in Lear we live in Lear Tom mckibban is a quality player um yeah he’s going to win he’s going to win more titles I don’t regret that tip at all any other takeaways other than trying to channel you in a Michael fish at some point during a final round uh no takeaways really uh I think Tom McKibben um we keep an eye on him I know I’ve I’ve got a reputation for being in love with Tom McKibben and I don’t deny that and I I don’t don’t apologize for that I do think he’s um yeah he made a slow start last week yeah that his last two tournaments he’s come on really strong at the end isn’t he shot 65 closing round in the km you know fast finish there you know just needs to be a bit quicker at the blocks next time but um that won’t be the last time we back Tom McKim no I’m sure of that right we’ll move on then to the rocket Mor mortgage classic which was won by Cam Davis second time in four years he he was findable Steve you mentioned him as well I think and uh another bit of a roller coaster they paroled um batia fre pting late on oh it was Carnage certainly finable dayve we tipped him in 2022 for this and we tipped him in 2023 for this um he’s he’s a beautiful player yeah such a glorious swing um doesn’t often putt well but did enough on on Sunday to get the job done so yeah that’s a that’s a second rocket mortgage title for him he won it he won it in 2021 um two-time PJ tour Champion uh but yeah we went for the wrong Davis there didn’t we Davis Thompson uh finished tied second uh again no regrets about putting him up at 40 to one I thought yeah I thought that was the right bet I mean he’s coming of age he was ninth in the US Open second last week Davis Thompson like Tom mckb and two players that we’ve been keeping on sight for a long time and we will continue to do so Dave just you know we always want of bet winners but just enjoyable golf to watch as well someone who wasn’t as heavily involved in as yourself you know it was it was entertainment yeah yeah nice congested leaderboard um yeah yeah the England game obviously finished on a hard and then um set settled down for the golf um and um yeah Thompson played okay very serious character perhaps need to lighten up a bit but even more so Cameron young I mean we could devote the whole podcast to this to the Cameron young Enigma um because obviously we had two players in contention on Sunday Cameron young appeared to be the one with the better chance um seven time PJ tour runner up and just such a angry man isn’t he I mean yeah we mentioned last week how unlucky he’s been in a lot of those defeats was coming against Top Class opposition and narly lost but the last two near misses he’s had a really quite disturbing uh the V bar Championship he he bogey the last really ugly bogey at the last to gift Peter ma natti Victory so obviously not up against the top class player there so that was disturbing and then last you on Sunday he’s won behind on the 14th T Dave one shot behind he pulls his Drive slightly disappointing shot and then snap his driver did you see that yeah he’s he’s had a tantrum he’s not done the full tantrum where you lob it and chop it carate chop it or whatever I’ve seen a fell I used to work at a golf club came down golf club and I saw a young lad who had huge potential but had temperament issues he he karate chopped his driver once chopped it in half because these like these graphite shafts he a bad shot went like a was someone holding it for him no no no he he he karate Cho he held it in one hand and karate chopped it with the other at such a tantrum that’s power that’s power as well there yeah but a 500 quid Club just destroyed and I doubt he’s going to make it in the game with that sort of temperament but Cameron young just forced it into the ground he was so angry he just went and then it snapped so he’s he’s n without a driver for the rest of his round he’s got five o to play one of them’s another par five he was on a par five there the 14th the 17th’s a par five and then you know mentally he’s just imploded isn’t he’s he’s he’s he’s he’s got it on the green at 15 uh sorry 17 he’s got on the green on 17 with two three Woods he’s gone three-wood three-wood and then he’s three potted for par there he’s just bogey 16 I thought he was gonna snap his poter at that point yeah should yeah if he was gonna snap anything he should have snapped his I mean he didn’t find any Fairways uh and he and he didn’t hold any putts it was an abysmal performance and Tide six um so yeah I don’t know where we go from from here stick him in the bin St you got stick in the bin I think he needs an army of sports Psych ologists isn’t he I mean he’s got anger issues he’s got anger issues and you know he gave me anger issues on Sunday because yeah he’s he’s got all the technique uh but he’s got a really suspect temperament I think you’re right I it’s tempting to Ben him but then there’s players that can turn it around you remember Windam Clark used to be terrible in contention Windam Clark’s a good example of a player that recruited a sports psychologist and then massively improved his his finishing ability and then what was a major Champion a few months later so yeah we we keep an eye on him I think you’re right give up on him for now but if you hear news that he’s got a sports psychologist in there then then get him involved but you know get get him back on side what is it he needs his he in a chimp is that the one yeah yeah yeah the chimp Paradox yeah I’ve got that book next to my bed I started reading it and um yeah yeah give up halfway around because it was um yeah it’s a bit dull but yeah it works it does work right let’s move on to the golden oldies then shall we because handy black did the business again in the US Senior Open Richard Bland doing the business he was obviously with him recently Steve and you mentioned him he was very close again you said to to have him in in the squad but he wasn’t and he he did it well again to be fair to him yeah it was the icing on the cake of a of a miserable golfing week really you know playoff loser in Europe second place in in PGA and then a you know a favorite that we really should have been invested in in in the US seniors which finished yesterday it was a delayed finish due to bad weather um huki hiruki fito was in the lead going into yesterday and then Blandy came out the traps and was um you know swamped all over and won at the fourth playoff hole in the end so made our work of it but you we were talking about the cream rising to the top weren’t we in um in the seniors events in the senior Majors if you done each way bet on Blandy top five last week you’ve had such a comfortable ride um you there’s not that many good players in in the in the senior circuit so yeah yeah delighted for Blandy yeah angry at myself I got anger issues delighted with angry with myself for not putting him up because it was between Bland Harrington and and Westwood Harrington beat Westwood but he didn’t beat Blandy miles behind Blandy yeah the sad thing is Dave not sad in comparison to some of the world’s issues but um we won’t see Blandy in the senior open because they’re not letting him in are they he hasn’t paid his fine so so I didn’t see after the did he pipe up about that again he did before didn’t he I was busy yesterday working on this week’s tournament so I I I was just following out on the internet but I would imagine he he might have had a little pop um so yeah we won’t see we won’t see Blandy or Lee Westford in the Senior Open which is in you this month um so and we won’t see Steve Stricker probably because he doesn’t usually bother jetting over for it so yeah be quite a weak Senior Open we’ll um we’ll cast our mind to that soon 51 year olds at the ready right we’ll move on to this week’s action then s we remember of course you are watching on the racing post YouTube channel do remember to like comment and subscribe as Steve is already mentioned putting your comments below how you been getting on punting away in the golf in recent weeks and who you’re on this week as well and first stop for us will be on the DP World Tour off to Munich and we’re going to be at the d uh the DP the BMW International open and tell us about the course first Dave yes Golf Club munchin ien ride Munich German 7,347 yards par 72 four par fivs it’s hosted this event 27 times most recently from 1997 to 2011 then 2013 2015 2017 and from 2019 onwards flat relatively easy the par FES all reachable in Two Shots we’ve had 11 rounds of 62 at this track which which speaks volumes cloudy and K all week a field of 156 going to post and give us an attribute key attrib for this one uh if you’re a parous who’s putting well you’re going to be you’re going to feature okay right good stuff give you a show then with uh AK bets and it is 18 the field here Patrick Reed again looking for points heads the market Ryan Fox joins him at 18 to one with AK bets Thomas Peters at 20s vburger 22s and his 28 bar how many in the team for the BMW Steve just two the same as last week we had two out of 156 last week and we almost got the winner we’re going with the same tactics who’s the lead selection Guido migoi 30 to1 with AK bets astonishingly low in the betting in opening shows in my humble opinion I had him as one of the most likely winners of this tournament but there’s juice in the price this is one of the best players on the DP World Tour when he’s in possession of his aame and the evidence of the last few weeks is is that he’s got it he signaled a return to form in the China open at the start of May finished second in that and he’s hardly put a foot wrong since results from his last five events 2 24 8122 the win came in the km open the week before last you remember he made two birdies in the playoff to beat jod Dean and and Marcus kinol last week he enjoyed playing his National open improved his score each round by a shot finished in 22nd Place he said he’s thrilled with equipment changes he’s made this year never been happier with his bag playing great going into an ideal assignment this week it suits powerful attacking players this course last year he arrived off the back of miscuts in the km open and the European open but still managed to finish 10th the IUN ride only four players outscored him over the weekend last year this time he’s arrived at this course in in fine fettle I think we’re going to see a fifth DP world to title on Sunday for a player with proven bottle yeah I love I love the courage you must remember the 2022 French Open I I like to test you that the 2022 French Open the shot of the season was his approach to the 72nd hole Yeah it was such a brave Approach overwater at the Go na now to win that yeah we’re talking about an Italian Stallion that’s carrying plenty of undercarriage Dave you real you don’t worry about him in contention loads of bottle okay right we’re talking about stanions and undercarriage okay um you’re going for quite an aggressive attacking scoring player so I’m assuming you thinking that the the winning score is going to be a low one here Steve yeah I think so yeah cloudy and K all week you I think you have to get to at least 15 under to to to have a chance but yeah I think they go deeper than that right who else on the team the second player and our two-prong attack is Thomas Peters 20 to1 with AK Betts who almost won when he returned to the DP World Tour in the sudal open at the end of May he lost by a shot in that one we don’t get to see him much out side of the Liv he has a live He’s a Liv Rebel his form on the Liv circuit has been encouraging lately he was ninth in LIV Miami he was fifth in Liv Singapore yeah this is a range goat Dave he’s a range goat and he’s clearly been putting in some time on the Range uh living up to his uh his team name there because his swings been looking grooved in lately we’re talking about six-time DP World Tour Champion um yeah one of the best players in attendance if not the best I mean I know I’ve got a reputation for being a fan booy of Thomas Peters but yeah you struggled to you struggle to name five players better than him in this event you know you struggle to name one player better than him in this event um yeah he’s all class and and golf club munchin you know ideal for for Thomas Peters I mean the sudal open venue that he finished second at last time out in the DP World Tour is you know tight Tree Line you puts him in a straight jacket you know golf club munchin is the opposite he can open his shoulders you really enjoy himself this week and he finished second on his last visit you might remember the 2020 to BMW International how Tong Lee absolutely inspired and beat Peters in a playoff um so yeah yeah I think um Peters is a huge running this week so yeah two-pronged attack allows us to have you you healthy responsible Stakes on those two gooda and in honor of Bruce I I feel like I should just be shaking my head because I’m not sure he would condone the tip of Thomas Peters Wy oh no no no I thought you were talking about me asking you to remember things that listen that that comes with a territory of of hosting the show you can only remember what happened on on Saturday night at toaster can’t you the favorite flopping out the boxes I man they must have been gasps of Despair as the the favorite flopped out the boxes you every other the book makers not from the book makers yeah those horrible scummy book makers yeah is that going to get into out sorry they’re not scum we’re all we’re all we’re all friends in in a way trying to crush them it’s fine we yeah yeah yeah yeah that’s it they are the enemy let’s not get away from it um but yeah yeah trap free flopped out about the only favorite win at toast on Saturday yeah it was it was a bit of a FB Fest yeah just talk about some of the other players I knew without before even asking you that there was going to be no love for for Patrick Reed he’s just a favorite that you g to look to take on well he was a flopping favorite last week yeah I thought he was a terrible priz last week he finished 29th in the Italian Open uh I think he’ll be a flopping favorite again you know this suits attacking bombers you know it doesn’t play to reach strengths he’s making his course too a venue that loads of players know like the back of their hand uh so yeah no no no value for me Rey and he joint favorite in fact with Ryan Fox what your thoughts on him uh yeah Fox is jetting over from the rocket mortgage you long Trek from from Detroit uh not a player I like to back at at Short prices you know he can have cold spells with a putter um yeah just much prefer my to I think Mig oie should be jostling among the favorites and Thomas Peters maybe should be the favorite um so yeah yeah yeah I’m really happy with those two and hopefully we get a bit more luck this week so there was no one else that was sort of nearly on the list no one else on the radar no no no no I mean I I’ve left the short list in in the shed uh obviously we’ve had some issues today this is why we got this rather Bland backdrop uh I should have should have put a picture of Richard Bland on there we got a Blandy backdrop um but uh I can’t remember don’t think so no no it all clicked into gear quite nicely this week no no there’s no one else you need to back good stuff right let’s move on then to the John Beer Classic and we’re off to Illinois so one one one thought just popped into my head uh sorry sorry to St um I remember I was looking at Tom Lewis quite seriously but there’s open qualifiers this week Dave um which is quite a demanding job so if you’re playing open qualifiers in Scotland and then you’ve got a jet over on a Tuesday evening to Germany um yes it’s not ideal is it so yeah I was toying with Tom Lewis at Big prices um but he’s playing an Open qualifier and I just think it’ll turn up jaded right 150 to one is with AK bets if you uh would like to see Steve more misery when Tom Lewis shoots a record record round in the uh on Sunday but there we go right as I mentioned we’re off to Illinois for the John Deere Classic on the PGA tour um TPC Deer run this track’s been used quite a few times Steve what can you tell us about it just going over to have a glass of water so far away can you just say something about grey hands for a second okay I’ll tell you what I’ll do before we get Steve’s view we’ll give you the market um for the the John Deere classic and Sun JM is is market leader at 16 to1 subst trer at 18s Aaron Roy who showed up well last week at 20s Jordan SP at 22s Davis Thompson at a pony 25s and it is uh well also 25s Denny McCarthy right that is the market with AK bets it is 16 to one the field I mention at TPC dear run are you uh fully lubricated now Steve you happy I’ve been a bit parched ever since uh Jude bellingham’s goal really I really I really let it all out when that went in um you for for betting purposes as much as anything else because I had a to qualify fourfold that involved England wow Germany England Spain and Portugal so I thought that would Cruise in it it’s even money that that’s even yeah yeah last night’s Portugal game was another one that put me through the ringer a bit but um all’s well that ends well and and England will improve from here you have my guarantee uh if Southgate can just Shuffle the pack a little bit um sorry I know this is a golf podcast but you just in case South got going on did you shed a tear like Ronaldo after he missed the pen no I was I was yeah I mean that was what was he crying about do you he was crying about his uh because he’s trying to extend that record of scoring in every tournament wasn’t he um I don’t know yeah yeah all that huffing and puffing before the free kicks I mean geez every free kick it takes about 10 minutes to get ready for and then terrible wasn’t it but I’ve seen you puffing away before we recall this so don’t even go there um right talk to us about the course then talk us about the Course TPC Deer Run Silvis Illinois 7,289 yards par 71 three par FS been held at this course since 2000 it’s one of the easiest tracks on the PJ tour strong wedge play and putting is typically the key to success but we got some Breeze in the forecast this weekday from Friday onwards uh keep an eye on the tea times could be a draw by situation um but yes some Breeze from Friday onwards means that the score going to be kept in check 156 going to post right key attribute well in the olden days you’re wantan to back players like Steve Stricker Zack Johnson Stricker won this three times so it’s like strong wedge play and strong putting was enough to get this job job done um but I just think with a little bit of Breeze in the forecast you want a slightly better ball Striker than you normally would have in this tournament so I still obviously want a hot putter but um yeah I think you’re goingon to have to golf your ball a little bit more than usual given that forecast right here is 16 to one the field and who is the selection for this John Deere classic it’s a another Sweet Spot regular is sep Striker sep Striker is 18 to one with AK bets we started back in in this year um after we finished 16th at Sor grass brilliant ball strike in display at Sor grass didn’t putt well there still finish 16th and he was 16th a month later uh in the in the Masters um fifth in the Heritage eighth at Quail Hollow fifth at Colonial fifth at Memorial last time out closed with a 61 for 23rd spot in The Travelers so Striker playing as good as anyone uh in this week’s field certainly typically underrated uh he’s become a major contender in the last cutle of year day I I think he deserves to be John Deere classic favorite I was gutted when Patrick cley pulled out um Patrick cley was in this field yesterday and has withdrawn so we’re going to have to take a slightly worse price about ster um but I think 18 to one you can’t quibble that 18 to1 with AK bets his form is superb his course record is is as well he’s the defending Champion Dave uh you might remember another testy your memory he was he was going up the last looking for a 59 last year uh he needed a birdie for a 59 ended up car the double bogey on the last do and shooting 62 but it didn’t matter because he was so far ahead so yeah stra is going to defend his his title this week day right and he is a standout price as well of AK bet so 18 to1 he’s a short has 14 elsewhere so there you go 18 to1 SE Striker is the headline selection for this one how many in the team for this team I’m sure there’s not just one three just three three right next best is yeah you’re right I mean I I did notice AK bets uh didn’t even make strike a favorite so um yeah yeah get get get stuck into to AK uh he’s probably still having his cigars from mckibben’s playoff losses but um yeah this this week will be our turn but yeah next best is a 28 to1 chance with AK bets and that is Maverick mcne who I thought I’d leave alone this season he’s working his way back from injury had a shoulder problem had a torn ligament in his shoulder took some time off time off actually used it very productively and became a pilot he got his pilot’s license while he was uh while he was resting his his shoulder um but from the Farmers Insurance open onwards this year he’s not missed a cut it’s been a real impressive return so that’s 13 tournaments in a row Bank in a check he was sixth in the Phoenix Open 13th in the Mexico open ninth in the PLAYERS Championship 23rd in the uspga 17th at Colonial seventh in the Canadian open so really encouraging stuff from McNeely this is a former world number one amater um awesome college player you know match records that that that Tiger Woods had set at Stanford um yeah PJ T set six ESS seemed inevitable for mcne hasn’t happened yet he’s only 28 I can see him getting in the thick of things in in Illinois he’s always been a great putter Dave um one of the best Putters in in the business so he’s got the tools for a low-scoring event like this but what’s impressed me this year is driving’s improved he’s he’s he’s driving the ball better than he ever has um so that breeze in the forecast does not concern me he’s finished 18th and eighth in the last two John Deere Classics yeah he’s a player that I I went I think about a 12- Monon period of just backing him for every single tournament I remember when he turned Pro and his dad’s worth of Fortune and he his family so I kind of felt like he’s just GNA sort of swagger in turn pro and win some events and he he always seemed to be out the frame and then shoot like a 59 from nowhere and you thought it is in there somewhere but this season as you say Steve you’re just starting to put it all together well I remember when I used to go on Racing Post Greyhound TV and they used to ask me for players to follow for the whole season that’s perhaps where you uh you picked it up there because I was saying you I was like a broken record just keep backing Maverick and you you you’ll get results eventually and um I I still think I think I said Daniel heler and Maverick mcne and Daniel hiler has got the job done on on the deeper World Tour and mcneel’s taken time but yeah it’s interesting one that and if he’s the richest player on the on the on the PJ tour he’s the richest player in golf You know despite the pr money it’s not through prize money it’s the fact he’s got a billionaire dad but you know maybe you know maybe that gives you a comfort and gives you makes you relaxed you don’t think about the prize money uh there’ll be a lot of players in this field the prize money means a lot more to um yeah yeah I’ve always had that that that theory that that must make him more relaxed In Contention but it hasn’t worked out yet yeah I went through the same period I think I was back in um Ernest Gulbis I don’t know if you know him the tennis player he’s Lan and his dad’s like the rich richest man in lva so he thought he was like taking helicopter rides to to tennis events that I think the winners prize would pay for the fuel for the helicopter you know that but I like that kind of player that is not under the C like needing to win for their livelihood because that kind of swagger and and bullishness and confidence can sometimes get you over the line yeah it’s an interesting one is it because you could look at the the other way and then would they be a bit lazier because they don’t need it as much but I think in a game like go when nerves can take hold of you so so much I think it definitely helps like you saw B here on the last hole AE B here on the last hole last week in the rocket mortgage he hadn’t missed a part under six foot all week and then he three- puted the last to to surrender the title didn’t he and very Twitchy on that that second putt so you know nerves hit him there you know McNeely when he’s in contention will not have nerves about the prize money totally irrelevant so yeah I think he’s a man to get get on side he’s made a much better return from injury than I than I thought he would um just so consistent so yeah I think we have to have him on board in this field there’s there’s there’s no reason not to back Maverick MC this week well that’s quite a statement right who is the third member of the team Steve the third and final is a Keeping the Faith job um you can probably work it out from there Davis Thompson yeah we can’t leave him alone again he’s 25 to one this week with AK bets perfectly fair you this lad is quality he served his PJ tour apprenticeship he won on the Cor f a tour in 2022 clearly ready now to win on the PJ tour um you might remember the 2023 American Express uh only John Ram was too good for him in that that was the start of last year um yeah last week only Cam Davis was too good for him he was second as well in the Myrtle Beach Classic um in May so just knocking loudly on the door of the PJ tour win his enclosure he could come crashing through on Sunday so yeah I like a three-way attack on this tournament he finished 31st on his John Deere debu last year um so knows the course as well so yeah yeah three-way attack on that one two-way attack on Europe lots of multiple opportunities Dave um yeah you’re very good at working out how many how many selections that is uh so we got some doubles fun to have as well well I think two times three is six so You’ got six each way doubles there yeah I wasn’t really to much some of the um some of the other Market leaders I want to start with spe sitting there at 22s why yeah well I mean I I I think it’s too short I think it’s too short yeah I mean he’s been prominent every time he tees it up he’s he’s he’s prominent in the B and and I don’t know why because this niggling wrist injury is not being solved anytime soon uh his driving has been okay well his driving has been as good as ever he used to be an erratic driver so I don’t think the wrist affects his driving you when it’s pegged up when the ball’s pegged up and there’s no danger of any pressure coming on the wrist he’s got the light yeah the drivers tend to be like the lightest Club in your bag don’t it so I think he’s got confidence in his driver swing and that’s showing but when it comes to you know taking divots with your iron play his iron play has been terrible um and I think that must be RIS related uh he needs to sort it out he needs to have surgery in in the close season in my humble opinion but he’s a two-time John Deere classic Champion yeah I mean the C will suit won’t he but he he just doesn’t win anymore no no he’s proven on the course absolutely emphatic proven on the course but yeah I can’t have him at the moment because of his iron player and his wrist issue right the favorite is SJ IM at 16s what your thoughts on him yeah wrong favorite for me you know you you sep strier should be favorite in my in my humble opinion um him just misses too many tlers for me um not a player I should be backing at 16 to1 for this I don’t think yes cold spells with the Putter and the other one Aaron Ry who obviously showed up well last week yeah he hung on in there was in that Log Jam tied for second um but yeah his accuracy is not particularly rewarded off the tea here um that’s his main strength now I can’t be backing him at Short prices okay good stuff give us a round up then an overview of your five selections this week Dave BMW International open Guido migoi Thomas Peters John Deere classic sep ster Maverick McNeely Davis Thompson and you know what’s coming if you could just have the one bet this week on the golf who would it be I didn’t know that was coming but I didn’t prepare it comes every show so you should know I need to get used to that that’s one of the these new new features that you’ve you’ve really stamp people just want to Authority on the what is the Steve Palmer best bet of the week and that I hear you I absolutely hear you yeah I think Guido migoi is is is is being chalked up at too big a price I mean he should be they should be jostling for favorit with Thomas Peters um and and he’s not so yeah yeah I’d have to say Guido migoi um yeah and then obviously England to win the European Championship you happy with that yeah we’re Fabs now clear Fabs because of the draw it’s just draw related is it yeah I mean I think Germany Spain probably is the final in it when when they play they play they play against each other in the quarters don’t they but um yeah I just I just hope we we stay in you if we make the final we’ll have some fun with it it’s more about the kids I know you got two young kids I mean both of my kids got Palmer shirts you know they got Palmer on the back English shirts with Palmer on the back and then when Cole Palmer comes on and changes the game like he has to start don’t if Cole Palmer starts my kids will be elated and I think England the whole of England will be elated because he’s you think he should start don’t you yeah he’s been brilliant absolutely brilliant pal start Palmer put sacka left back put Trent right back get Gordon on on you know Gordon on left wing if we can attack down the blanks I think it’d be totally different England side I think we’re not yeah I think it all stems from from trippier trippa is the problem um we need to get rid of trippier you know he might be injured hopefully he’s injured and then don’t wish that on someone well no I don’t want him seriously injured but hopefully got a little niggle that keeps him out for the rest of the tournament because I think all the problems are stemming from trippier being left back um and yeah but if Southgate just plays the same team again and just you it’s going to be pretty depressing but yeah I just want my kids to see England I just want myself and my kids to see England win something because uh yeah they’re they’re fully invested in now with their Palmer shirts and yeah I’m 46 I had my birthday last week there I turn 46 46 years of watching England win nothing right good stuff Steve I’m confident this week I’m confident yeah confident right two tournaments this week there are four next week as well that we’ll be getting stuck into the Ian Championship Isco Championship Scottish open and Andalucia International so Invitational so strap yourself in lie down Steve on Monday and get prepared for those four tournaments next week you have of course been watching The Sweet Spot brought to
