sounded pretty good not bad it was a wee bit thin but actually it’s quite a good result considering it was just a bit low in the head okay guys welcome back to the channel today we’re taking a dive into Costco World Michael long awaited review of the Kirkland irons wholesale whole set wholesale whol set is that what you’re going with yeah I sound good I like it um we’ve obviously done the wedges in the past the first edition uh we actually have the full set we we may as well test them all while we’re here yeah no this will be interesting yes we have the new but I think most of our Focus we want to s look at the irons yeah I mean we’ve got the driver over there we’ve got the put we are not going to hit the put we’ll take a look at it we’ll pass an opinion on it have you seen it in in passing back in the day yeah so we’ll hit some wed shots we’ll start there then we’ll do our usual four uh seven and wedge test on the irons and then we’ll have a few with the drivers it is only coming a 105 let me just quickly check that out we have is 105 I think it does only come in a 105 yeah which obviously can be turned down with a loft sleeve so we’ll hit that as well not likely to be at our specs but let’s let’s hit it um and see what we think about the performance of it but back to the irons MH very similar in shape and look to some other brands that we’ve worked with and that we we deal with um you know there’s a Tungsten in the in the club it’s injected with a with like a urethane so um two you know two-piece Golf Club hollow body basically I think it looks from the back it looks okay I mean that Kirkland Signature is is funny to see CU you see it I’m sure every yeah I’m sure everyone who’s watching this have been gsco once in their life um yeah I don’t think it looks cheap by any means I don’t know I I I can of almost I feel like it does look I think that’s the one thing like I’m expecting them to perform reasonably well considering the specs and the you know the the kind of engineering that’s what into it if you want to call it that but I think it’s to me it’s just the Kirkland Signature on it it’s big yeah it’s big and it’s the same as on the cookie box I think that’s just what I can’t get over golf clubs ch150 hot dog and you’re good to go exactly exactly but um we’re going to we’re going to hit it and see and we’re obviously see how it stands up one of the things that to me Mike I don’t if you want to grabb the seven uh seven iron you got it right there yeah like when I was putting uh stickers on them what we got 1 two three four five six seven8 N9 10 11 it seems to me that they’re light on grooves it’s not that light on grooves you know 12 is not a lot I think 13 sort of a standard some of the the clubs now especially in the wedges are going up to 17 yeah to me I’d be concerned if I’m I’m analyzing what’s going on and and looking at it from a performance standpoint I’d be concerned about spin right okay and a lack of spin especially in in sort of poor conditions and those of you who maybe are owners of these clubs maybe chime in let us know if that’s the case definitely yeah the flyer uh flyer prevention now that you mention it yeah it doesn’t look like there’s a there’s lots of Gap there’s big gaps between the grooves yeah good point yeah okay all right other than that it kind of is something we’ve seen from many many Brands and this type of thing so it seems like to though the hardest thing with these is is that final it keep them in stock I think once they release them it’s funny I was in a Costco in the US a couple months ago and they had tons of drivers tons of Putters tons of wedges but no no iron sets um cuz I did put the driver down this the first time I saw it took a look at it but for $499 it’s a seven piece set um not bad yeah I mean yeah it’s not it’s not bad bad okay let’s start with the wedges let’s look at the Kirkland 2.0 wedges Mikey still the same makeup which I think is a little bit of a mistake um I think the the 52 5660 I think by having a 40 degree n iron a 45 degree wedge and a 52 degree gap wedge I think they’ve missed a trick there someday maybe shown a little bit of the lack of maybe golf knowledge inside the the the kind of the building when the decisions were being made in those or the molds or whatever were sort of being made I think a 50° gap wedge would have made way more sense yeah good point good Point let’s set a you and see let’s see it okay all right F we’re going to start with the 60° we do have the Kirkland ball as well that we’re using for the whole test which is nice it’s a full in-depth Kirkland review mhm quite good to do that because I think people who are shopping for the clubs are probably also keen on the ball yeah uh and what that might bring save a few bucks what’s the price of the golf ball now price of your golf ball is like two dozen $34.99 for two dozen threepiece your thing cover golf ball that is insane you buy gloves you buy the whole they I saw something on Tik Tok they’re going to start selling golf bags oh yeah makes sense they’ve got a whole yeah they’ve got a whole brand they’re building behind these things okay 60 yards Mikey boy [Music] bab a we bit but not bad for shape of a 60 thoughts right out of the gates yeah it’s not for me it’s definitely not for me there’s way too rounded a Leading Edge um it’s still very sharp I remember seeing that with the first version I think it’s it’s too sharp on the Leading Edge I think the golfer who’s going for this is probably going to be a slightly higher handicapper um i’llbe it the guy that you know gave us these OT like he’s you good player and stuff like that so you know it’s not just for the higher handicap but I think the the customer that they’re marketing to is a slightly higher handicapper therefore I think that design on the Leading Edge too severe yeah lots of people I’m sure find it they find them quite easy to chunk it in only 8 degrees abounds you’d think for the mass Market you’d go go higher 610 or 12 something something in [Music] that good strike you bet the snot Michel those last or three were pretty good yeah cly better strikes last two anyway anyway for a 50 y with a 60 spin wise looking for similar numbers a little more we bet higher if I just hit quickly just hit one with my own just as a little reference yeah probably quite similar yeah 81 81 so a little a fraction more yeah a bit more probably equal to the the higher ones that we saw with the Kirkland yeah just seemed like 76 I don’t see that too often like I’m having to kind of to be honest change my action a we bit here just try and like take it back really wide they definitely want to hang open a bit more don’t they yeah they Fri into the gaer uh 10 degrees of Bounce like the 56 yeah feel so the 56 have a little bit of yeah does have a little bit of heal relief yeah they’ve done a better job in the grind the uh The Sand Wedge and the 2.0 there’s a bit more going on there for open face shots I have the original wedges and I always found like the I actually buffed down one of the souls on the 56 it was too wide and and too rounded in my opinion good strike no bad yeah I’m working at that yeah working hard to turn it over yes hard just what they want to stay out there yeah last few strikes were nice yep 9100 average in in spin 9200 not bad not bad not bad okay yeah so verdict I think in the wedge is mik key not not a big change way too much of a of a Sharp Leading Edge still think they can get away with the material feels okay doesn’t feel great I mean relatively speaking um but I think if I compare which really we’re comparing you know we’re comparing top end Mercedes and and a a low end something don’t offend anyone who’s got one but like if you just look at the the difference in the so design yeah it’s very significant very significant so yeah you’re going to get what you pay for in that they Fri into the irons um obviously start pitching wedge then seven then four first thoughts on at a dress with this iron I know you love a pitching wedge shape isn’t is not it for me at all okay um no no that’s not it but uh top it’s got kind of a funny transition very rounded on on that kind of top Edge I kind of like it to be from from here to here straight line I don’t like like a big big arch uh to that so no that’s not it shapewise I mean if if I was just a look at the kind of the front of the wedge the the the Leading Edge into the front um so the hos lean Edge fine yeah absolutely fine just that top part is not ideal nice strike maybe a little low yeah a little thin very muted metallicy sound to them it sounds okay yeah isn’t just okay it’s not I was expecting this kind of echoey iron and it sounds fine no it does first couple swings thoughts on him so far not bad okay not too bad um um yeah I’ve not struck one yet that I’ve been impressed with put it that way but yeah I’m not yet ready to rule out the fact that it’s just me a better strike yeah I mean not bad six out of 10 okay right F 170 yards uh seven iron obviously didn’t love the shape of the pitching which right of the gates yeah like look at that though it’s totally different yeah totally different so there’s the straight line I was talking about from from you know the heel to the Top Line it’s literally perfectly straight just make the wedge like that yeah I mean maybe there’s I don’t know if anyone’s in there really thinking about the how high the CG is but maybe the the kind of curvature to the top end try to push the CG up a little bit to flight the wedge down be on their side a we bit but I like the I like the shape of the seven 3.2 mm of offset you’ve got more of offset you’ve got 2.7 2 in the seven hour and 31 degrees of Loft yeah the offset is pretty good I quite like the offset done pretty good not bad it was a we bit thin but actually it’s quite a good result considering it was just a bit low on the head it was one of my fears with with this club is that the wedge is kind of going like 130 so going to go 180 we keep seeing that with these Hollow Bodies hot in the middle of the set doesn’t yeah it just jumps yeah again could be a could be that groove thing that we were talking about too I mean 6,000 spin on the iron that’s not bad honestly 95 ft in the air but it just goes forever yeah it just retains a lot of speed similar that strike up the head a little bit today that’s fine that’s a strike yeah good strike where’s the spin Bean so yeah 59 on average mhm I just want to hit one with the stricks on XV right just think there might be actually a really good match with the Kirkland ball and the Kirkland irons because they spin more okay so pretty strike yeah good strike moving away from the Kirkland ball into the stxs on XV so spin down pick up a little bit of ball speed I’d be really worried about somebody playing these irons with with a low spin golf ball yeah like any any hollow body to be honest but yeah so if we look at just the previous four to that last one there yeah like between shot four and shot five we’ve got 60100 spin 50100 spin obviously 12 yards a carry difference yes it’s a big it’s a big change and that comment on the low spin ball I mean potentially someone playing these irons are obviously not going to get fit which is wrong and then they’re you know have a couple different golf balls in the bag and they play the the low spin one to to help with maybe their driver just get a bit more distance and you’ve got a combination that I mean you’re not going to hit many greens if that’s the case going to be it’s going to be the hot ball when you don’t expect it okay last but not least Z4 okay for us four iron um again shapewise you’re looking at offset at 3.4 so obviously you’re going to get a little bit more offset as you get to the kind of the lower lofted uh clubs 20 degrees of Loft on the for iron yeah strong pretty strong little driving iron it is it looks like looks it as well just looks very very straight good strike just yeah 10.8 on the launch 3500 quick it’s got some speed to it for sure just low good swing right out the middle mhm yeah good swing all right F the big dog titanium Soul titanium face carbon composite Crown he got all the makings of the big guys the top dogs in the industry off camera we jokingly said could you imagine if you hit this and it replaces the OG Sim we’ll see what happens yeah it’s it sits very shut there’s no there’s no get away from that just like I’ve got it set 105 down to 95 so it should be presenting a bit more open I mean the thing sting it’s got to be four degrees left um like I’ve seen people online testing these I haven’t haven’t heard anyone I don’t want to say tell the truth I’ve not heard anyone call out for the fact is it sits like a draw by his driver like it does there get away from that it just it sits left some people want the truth but can’t handle the truth yeah it’s very long front to back Mikey yeah looks very triangular yeah Big Driver we’ll see 105 obviously of the adjustability comes with a True Temper Even Flow Rip Tide shaft yeah lamping grip not an awful offering little bit low Mikey but low and spinny the spin and overdrive trying to get that out to the right yeah and then the launch kicks up Mega I got it in a better spot in the head to be fair that wasn’t a bad strike okay it just like I think it’s I think it might be 30 yard short of mine we’ll have to do a little little comparison after we get the collection of these not awful you’re being kind Michael you’re being kind okay a little bit fairy finder this thing yeah I need to launch it a we bit launching it so much today really low spin today yeah I’m one handing that 162 ball 10 launch yeah last one was like as bad as I can hit it m yeah right out of the bottom no competition there the Sim stays in the bag all right Mikey boy let’s lump all the wedges and IRS into one as we said that the wedges similar to what we saw before I think the only thing that the only comment criticism that we would make is just that Leading Edge is so sharp yeah so you need to accept that that’s that’s what you’re going to get um into the irons the wedge to the seven iron carry distance is a problem isn’t it big you can kind of see it right there um you know when you go from 130 to 180 that’s that’s definitely a bit of an issue yeah we assumed right you know to start it would be like a 170 Club but that one 180 and to be honest with you there was a lot there was a couple in there that were a lot further than that 180 as well obviously these are averages but definitely a hot iron definitely um 4 iron 4 iron really struggled for launch like kind of Apex looking at the seven iron like apexed quite a bit lower 10 n yeah and we’re not seeing that for modern irons with with the sort of with the sent of gravity being manipulated to be very low to promote that higher launch I think this is what you would see if you didn’t see this is the perfect example of Loft jacking if it was just Loft jacking yeah because that’s pretty much all that’s going on here The Lofts are really strong we’re not getting a specific four iron CG so you’re going to get a a launch spinning speed relative to a 20° forign there is no pulling down of that CG so we’re going to get a bit of a bit of a hot one with that let’s go into the the big dog heig I found it and just it just you know closed it was easy easy to turn left yeah um delivery three and a half up three and a half out face angle was stri in like it looks low there it didn’t hang out too too low but for something that you know had a lot of left to it just High spin um obviously we compared it to your to your gamer because it I think it’s a good way to just not expose it but show the difference in obviously a well-fitted driver to you know something that’s made for the masses I’m surprised for something that sits so closed just how how it just it went it ballooned on you well it it’s kind of probably a blessing that the face was able to get closed because if with that much loft it didn’t go left I mean the spin would have been 4,000 yeah good point um never mind three so yeah if we take a driver that obviously fitted to to me and what I get from it Wella um now that was low for me spin wise again that might I’m not sure if that’s that Kirkland ball I’ve never played that ball with the driver but to keep the test equal uh we were about four miles in our quicker ball speed same launch quite different in spin spin was big yeah yeah actually with a low strike yeah interesting that is interesting and obviously car’s yeah crazy by a bit more carry so yeah management of spin not not just lower spin management of it really really tight it’s one of the reasons I love that that Sim driver but yeah I think you can get away with the irons I think you can maybe the right type of person get away with the the wedges yeah um dri a rough one slower swing speeds people who need some spin need a bit of left there’s there’s someone like that that could maybe benefit from that driver now that’s 105 open correct uh to play 95 and it still SS quite shut yeah that’s that’s not um as a starter maybe somebody starting out the game yeah it’s not the not the worst 199 bucks I think in the US so cheap not bad yeah not bad for that but when you start comparing it as we do we’re we’re we’re a channel known for sort of being more Technical and uh squeezing every last ounce of performance out of a golf club you can see where that’s lacking which is a lot that is lacking a lot all right kland some good some not so great yeah yeah but a good good test good way to run through it you’re walking out the store got to be 1,200 bucks for the for the the deal 500 for the irons 200 for the the driver the wedges what the wedges um pricewise one 69 yeah or three we got putter what’s putter Putter’s 15 maybe maybe price in the putter three wedges for the price of a putter um you basically get out there for 11,00 bucks or so yeah like you said for the for people getting into the game you know need a set then they don’t want to blow the bank I mean this is pretty good obviously you don’t have any Fairy Woods with this no hybrids I’m sure that’s coming um but yeah a a pretty good starter set and two dozen balls for two dozen B less than 40 bucks throw those in the cart just just because yeah and we are groceries for the week all right guys um yeah not not bad great it is great value you can’t get away from that is it’s great value for what you’re paying we see clients come in nowadays Canadian dollar or or US dollar you know five $6,000 us for a set of clubs customized you know 7,000 Canadian for for basically what we have behind us here so you’re literally you know a fifth a sixth yeah of that of those costs it’s pretty good yeah it’s pretty good to get you going not a bad way to start not a bad set all right guys let us know what you think uh who has who has jumped onto the the Costco the Kirkland bandwagon I want to hear who’s playing this stuff what do you think is it better than what you had before did you go custom and and it didn’t work for you in Costco went better for you you maybe need to go back to your Club have a word with them um but as far as a a beginner set goes not bad at all yeah yeah good start good stuff all right guys stay tuned for more we’ll see you again soon [Music]

  1. This conversation is a reminder that our voices matter and that we have the power to shape the narrative and drive change.🧡

  2. Thanks for fixing the TaylorMade SM10 😂
But Ian, are your Vokeys lie bent upright? Noticed your toe is down significantly in the gap wedge on all strikes. Could be the reason you were having trouble turning it over? Just an observation mate! I would have loved to seen you use the low spin ball on the driver though to make it a little more far. Spin differential was way too large between the two drivers. Great video and keep the content coming!

  3. The unconscious bias in this review is incredible to see. These irons are the subject of a lawsuit by Taylormade who allege they are basically a direct copy of their P790 irons, but listening to the commetary one would be forgiven for thinking they were some generic Far Eastern rubbish. For $499 as opposed to $1399 for the Taylormades there is no comparison. I've just watched the eviceration of a perfectly good set of irons for the average budget conscious golfer who doesn't care about brand names and wants value for money .

  4. Honestly felt like you guys were a bit harsh on the wedges and irons, they performed quite well considering the price. However, the driver looks to be absolutely horrid. For the begginer, this set is great considering a whole bag costs what just a set of normal irons cost

  5. “Not bad” haha that’s an understatement. Think of the target audience here, this is phenomenal value and engineering that is the subject of a lawsuit. Some refinements could be had for sure.. but it’s their first go.. they need to create a cool golf logo K or something KG

  6. Rip ‘em to shreds boys!! The driver is for someone new to golf. It’s an easy going shaft and draw biased spinny head. Value on irons is probably pretty good but don’t get why someone would buy them when there are other DTC options out there that are much better looking. The Kirklands are Knock-offs. Tired of hearing about them

  7. @clubchampionmedia Kirkland Signature Golf clubs is irons which based off Taylormade P790 irons. But, Taylormade Lawsuit about Kirkland golf irons a few months ago.

  8. The cult following for Costco is getting insane to the point people are attacking anyone who dares to be even a little critical

  9. Informative review. Would have liked to have seen the SIM playing at the same loft as the KSIG driver as I’m pretty sure Ian is playing his driver at 7.5 or 8 degrees vs the 9.5 for the KSIG. If anyone expected Club Champion/TXG to sing the praises of a Costco product I’ve got some prime swampland in Florida to sell you 😂

  10. Costco must be sending out their marketing test sets. Rick S just posted a similar video.

It's too obvious when the marketing sets go out because all the reviews become the same.

Wish you guys could get some Maltby. But they don't send freebies so it's a moot point with you and them 🤦🏼‍♂️

  11. Fun review. Interesting comments about the Kirkland branding on the irons. Funny thing is, the people I know who love stuff from Costco will revel in the large branding and will glow with pride as they pull out their Kirkland irons and show everyone that they can suck at golf just as much as anyone else – but for 50-70% less.

  12. Big fan of the channel but feel like you guys were looking for everything wrong instead of reviewing the clubs objectively. Obviously they are copies of P790. The numbers looked decent in the irons for the higher handicap golfer or for somebody looking for a set of clubs on a budget.

The driver is a draw biased and for higher handicap/ new golfers. So…… ease up a bit boys.

Obviously you guys are going to advocate to be custom fit but not everybody can afford $350 for a fitting plus a ridiculous up charge on components to build a set of clubs.

    I’m not angry, just disappointed.

  13. The final commentary regarding price is the reason why these clubs exist. I don't think anybody buying these clubs believes (or quite frankly cares) that these clubs will perform similar to other clubs from top golf brands, it simply boils down to cost. And as you guys stated, for the price, you're basically getting all you could ever want, if not more considering the price tag of customized clubs being what it is.

  14. Critique of the performance and looks was pretty fair considering they’re constantly working with the best of the best every day. DTC clubs are great for the golf marketplace but they just aren’t as refined of a product as the big boys. I felt like the design team caught some unnecessary strays from Ian, “not sure anyone on the design team is thinking about CG placement”😬

  15. You can get the Maltby TS1 IM Forged irons for less and get them custom made, plus will perform better.
I will keep my Ping 400 Max driver in the bag, nothing is beating that. But I do enjoy my Costco putter, only after buying the weight kit which is no longer available.

  16. I think the key with the irons matching up with the ball is important. A buddy bought the irons, and then was playing his regular Supersofts, and had next to zero spin on any approach shots. After seeing ball tests, I told him to grab the Ksig balls so he can at least try to hold greens.
