well let’s start with the Chelsea News in the mail pot chewed up Chelsea boss out after dinner with oner Bley he felt frustrated at lack of power Blues eye IPS which is McKenna David onstein come to you first Kieran Gil reporting there that there’s a frustration from poino whereas carve solicor reporting our end that it was it was pretty amicable and that poino wasn’t worried about having not enough influence in in transfers what’s your take on it I think this has been coming for a while Teddy um and that may be a surprise to some but those of us within the industry that have uh been privy to some of the information around Chelsea uh it suggests that it wasn’t entirely happy on either side um and that’s why there was going to be this end of season review a year into a 2-year contract that had an option to extend by 12 months and despite results picking up which did make it a more interesting uh conversation and perhaps slightly less predictable outcome um I think the direction of travel has been clear and so if uh the club and the ownership and the sporting directors um weren’t seeing what they liked from Rio poino and by the looks of it merito poino um didn’t necessarily like everything that he was seeing from them then this is probably the best way to go um and it means Chelsea uh have another managerial change under the new ownership uh and the new ownership will be desperate to you know bring some consistency now some stability a long-term man in the hot seat uh which they’ve said before but they’ll hope it’s delivered with a clear style of play and identity and improve the injury situation and continue to recruit some of these great players um and I’m sure when they went into the potina relationship they would have seen him as being the long-term solution but for a variety of reasons it it just hasn’t worked out and uh it leaves us in a a fairly extraordinary situation I think they’ll be looking to make an appointment in in days rather than weeks is the word that’s coming out from Stanford Bridge tonight so um it’s a case of watched this space interesting times we’ll get to successes in just a second Mark let’s consider the back page of the sun no more M again the spelling chaos at Blues with McKenna in the Running Man United on alert to swoop and replace Eric tenh har Mark if we said that Chelsea was sixth at the start of the season could you perhaps understand it but you get given the sense of momentum is it is it slightly perplexing is this a dangerous move from Chelsea a little bit look I mean this would be the fifth managerial appointment or the managerial change at Chelsea since the the new owners came in less than two years ago so you have to say when Mar portino came in last summer Chelsea finished 12th I think bottom half of the table B loads of players and the the squad needed to settle down it was an imbalanced Squad it was a squad that needed a lot of time to kind of get in the right shape and I think poino overall has done that I think obviously during the mid part of the Season he was really struggling and they probably could have moved him on that even after such a short space of time but he certainly turned things around in recent weeks obviously the the fal defeated Arsenal didn’t help but he’s G to a cup final finished six got him into Europe you could really see some kind of pattern emerging at Chelsea bit of stability coming into play you obviously Cole Palmer’s had a great season I think Mar Gusto’s had a good season as well you just got the sense that a summer this year with maybe a couple of experienced players coming in would have helped Chelsea kick on to maybe even challenge for the title next year but this is where the Divergence comes because the the Chelsea owners want a different approach they want as we know they want to bring in younger players they just I think they just agreed to sign a player from Brazil this week for a 17y old so that’s where they want to go young players this team this squad needs a couple more experienced players just to kind of help gu the young players along and that’s what poo was probably looking for to to bridge the gap and it meant that they were on two different paths and if the owners and the managers on different paths it’s not going to work despite the fact he’s got a great pedigree now the problem Chelsea have got right now is that this job would appeal to lots of upand cominging coaches it really will you know there’s so many coaches out there that will take Chelsea despite the issues at play but I don’t see a manager coming in with the control that he would need to take the club to where they want to be and that’s the problem it’s almost like Catch 22 Chelsea want to go to a certain place but they’re not letting the manager do the job that he needs to do so you have to wonder what the aspirations of Chelsea’s owners are if they don’t think that perit potin has had a good season getting them to six they were never going to finish hi six they’ve definitely overachieved by be by finishing six it makes you wonder what sort of Club they are what sort of team they are what are their aspirations because you have to give the manager time and space to develop a team to develop players to move players out that aren’t good enough and to make the players that are there better and he’s he’s just started doing that and he’s on he’s on the way out Alan Smith reporting in the star out David Chelsea parting with porch what’s your read on and how attractive it would be for a prospective manager David in a in a sense mark obious is’s saying that perhaps it will it will deter other managers but could Chelsea’s form and the young players be be an attractive Prospect too the recent months yeah absolutely Chelsea is an attractive proposition people are saying Manchester United is a club that prospective managers won’t want to join I don’t believe that at all and in the case of Chelsea the ownership although it you know has been a bit of a tumultuous start they’ve clearly got great ambition to bring Chelsea back to the level of compe beating for the biggest trophies they want to be back in the Champions League and vying for for that honor as well as the Premier League and the domestic cups um they’re building a squad of of young and talented players that they believe um will be befitting that level um and Mark sort of touched upon it there it’s all about the structure for these new owners and they want the head coach to fit into that and be on the same page as them and very close to the sporting directors Lawrence Stewart and Paul wi Stanley and the ownership in Clear Lake capital and TOD B’s group and it’s not too dissimilar to what we’re seeing at somewhere like Liverpool with the sort of technical directors and um sporting directors and and people building um a model that just sees the the head coach slot in and and I think there’ll be many looking at it and and saying you know we can take it on even in the Abramovic era which was higher and fire they were never short of candidates to step into the role and we’re seeing tonight names like Kieran McKenna of ipswitch being linked Thomas Frank of brenford um Sebastian hernes of stutgart and you know whether or not they end up you know being dead in the frame um there will be plenty of managers coaches who see this as a brilliant opportunity with a very talented Squad and ownership that’s going to continue to invest and believe that they can be the person to get this right I’m sure someone will eventually um whether or not it happens for the for the next person in uh that’s something we’ll have to wait and see on indeed Chelsea is still attractive then David says Mark what about PO chatino is he attractive for his perspective clubs interesting piece Jason Bert and Matt Law writing in the telegraph Jason Bert saying that stock has risen United or Bayern could cash in do you think that in some ways the season has reflected well on PO chatino in a way the way it’s Ended as well yeah I think so I think he did have a very difficult job and as I said earlier on he had a really difficult patch during midseason and he could have lost his job then but he did turn it around so I think let’s be honest Maro poino is a manager with a good reputation but he hasn’t w a trophy in English football he he’s been close a couple of times but you know he’s come close with Tottenham is he a nearly man you know who knows I mean he’s he’s certainly got Charisma about him he can he can find a player but has he got that extra quality to take a team from being potential winners to Winners so I guess the biggest clubs are wonder about that but the at the outset there’s not a lot of coaches at the moment that are convincing the big clubs Bayern Munich is still struggling to find a coach man united may need a new coach in the next few weeks if if Eric tenh doesn’t survive so you know potina was was on a a Twan short list in the end with Eric tag United have missed out for different reasons variety of reasons but I guess if n is available he does shake up the the transfer market for managers this summer because you know bay will look at the guy think well he’s managed PSG he managed a big Club you know Barcelona may become available soon as well because Javi his situation seems to be under as well obviously I know that P play played rest B he said in the past he wouldn’t manage Barcelona maybe he might do if it came along so you know he’s an attractive proposition because he’s managed big clubs and managed big players but his reputation isn’t what it was five years ago when he was at Tottenham so I guess he has rebuilt his reputation a bit but I guess he’s still got to convince everybody that he can be an absolute Elite manager and win the Premier League win the champions league but you know maybe he was never going to do that at Chelsea because the situation he was in David let’s wrap up quickly by asking a two-part question question to you where you see poino ended up and where you potentially see Chelsea going next the times headline poino leaves Chelsea Argentinian departs after one season a move that will put United on alert any chance that poino swiftly replaces ten Haren wins the FA Cup and denies Chelsea Europa League spot you give me all the easy questions um I think Manchester United have been heavily linked with him for some time before ten hog like Mark says he met with inos about the n too so there’s a relationship there and I’m sure that you know now he’s available he will be in the thinking of clubs like Manchester United and I’m sure given the background a club like Manchester United will hold some appeal to him I’m not suggesting that it’s going to happen we have to wait and see what happens on Eric tenh har of course um but clearly it’s one to watch because they’re they’re the sort of club and sorry we’ve got phones ringing about this story as we speak the nature of this industry so um so yeah that’s inevitably one you’ve got to watch but you’ve got to think about you know the structure of a club like Manchester United under inos if it didn’t quite work for morito pochettino at Chelsea where they want to bring in set peace coaches and he was said to be against that and a more traditional style of management would it work at somewhere like Manchester United where they’re trying to do something similar with their sporting directors and so on maybe he’ll take a break with you know he was out of the game for quite a long time after leaving PSG and before joining Chelsea opportunities came and went and he’ll like to to see himself at that top Echelon um and he’ll have to make this decision very carefully in terms of Chelsea it seems that you know they’re going to go for one of these newer breed of exciting managers um that play a good style of football and identity they fit into their structure they uh connect with the fan base um they got a good record of keeping players fit and available and improving players we’ve seen similar criteria when Liverpool pointed on on a slot so yeah I think we’ll know pretty soon on on Chelsea but I’m not sure know so soon on pochettino’s future [Music]

  1. Liverpool have carried out the due dilligence on Slot for months. Utd are an embarrasment, as soon as a NAME become available they go for it without any thought whatsoever. Impulsive, useless club.

  2. I’m not a United or Chelsea fan but I’m absolutely creased at the United fans saying they would rather have EtH and creased at the Chelsea fans making it out like they have just lost a world class manager.

Both EtH and Poch are mid, EtH probably worse though

  3. For what even manchester United are more relentless with firing manager why bring him there after Chelsea fited him he can't give us a title in 2 season it makes no sense to sign him to United it's been years since we competed for anything that has got to change and poch isn't the answer

  4. For Manchester United Erik Ten Hag is the perfect coach and manager provided he is given some time!! Patience is the key word !! You don't build empires in a year!! Pep was lucky to already have many good players when he came to City, Fergie took 4 years to win the FA cup so bloody fking have some patience with the manager. If we go on changing managers i am dead sure United will reach nowhere near the top teams in Europe !!

  5. F!!!! As a Chelsea fan….

    F!!!
Man United you guys deserve way BETTER!!!
    make your voice count

  6. Porch did better than anyone expected with that team.
He took all the signings and made a team. And that took time. But he created an identity and structure.
    And finished 6th.
It shouldn’t have ended that way.
    He deserved better than that

  7. Am a Chelsea fun and I know POCH to Man U will be great and progressive decision by United because Man U is a blend between experience and young players and that's how POCH wanna work. He taken this young players 6th and above Man U. Chelsea decision to part ways with POCH does make sense and has put Chelsea back to factory reset new manager and new way. 😢

  8. Skysports as predictable as ever…… straight into the Poch to United nonsense. He wasn’t a better option than Ten Hag 2 years ago, one more sacking on his CV has changed nothing.

  9. Man utd have way to high expectations despite not being rich enough or close enough to challenge for champions league spots

  10. All this mckenna crap…he is not even premier league proven. Vincent kompany Bayern new coach lol…what is going on?

  11. Why do they xare to highlight these newspapers that little people read with these not so grat headlines? Why not just speak about the football alone?

  12. Sacking Tenhag with 2tropies with three finals, European competitions two seasons and hiring pochetino with zero trophy, finish number 9 last season with this season no European competition….what a loss…. Tenhag to Chelsea they can Win every cup
