EVERY SHOT of Marcel Siem’s Victory | 2024 Italian Open

Every shot of Marcel Siem’s final round which led to his sixth victory on the DP World Tour after defeating Tom McKibbin in a 1-hole playoff at the Italian Open.

After a three-year stay at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, the DP World Tour makes its way to Adriatic Golf Club which will host the Italian Open presented by Regione Emilia-Romagna for the first time. Tom McKibbin will be in the field this week. He made the cut at his first Major Championship in the U.S Open three weeks ago and went onto claim his fifth top ten of year – and third in his last five starts – at the KLM Open last week. He currently sits 20th in the Race to Dubai Rankings. Guido Migliozzi will also be in the field after his win in the Netherlands last week. It seemed to be coming as the Italian enjoyed a strong run of form finishing runner-up at the Volvo China Open, followed by a 24T at the Soudal Open and a tie for 8th at the European Open three weeks ago before his victory. Danny Willett will also be in Italy this week. The Previous Masters champion and eight-time winner on the DP World Tour is on the comeback trail after his shoulder injury and played well for a T29 finish last week at the KLM Open. Others to look out for include Sebastian Söderberg, Laurie Canter and Patrick Reed.

nice thank you on the it’s a good flag with this Breeze off the left you can just feed it in there it’s tight on the right hand side oh you loving a good iron shot here Marcel tried to fade it and hasn’t it’ll come up a long way left of the hole but on the surface this is off the left for Marcel a slick one will straighten up near the hole but you love two parts it’s uh not easy this to doart it’s a it’s a tricky t- shot down the breeze either way to be honest so why not tear it up and give it a rip oh nice go left left left sh heard it I think it kicked left came out hit the trees on the right and went over on the left left hand side I think so he’s got a tiny gap which he’s going to go for we know he goes for it see that’s why he’s having quite a few looks just to make sure he misses those big trees anything on the front edge would be great missed them all look at this one yeah that is tremendous just run through into that second cut of rough you can see the low hookies beenin on it and it was very very low indeed it’s a little bit sticky lie though but taking the pin out look how he plays those everybody he wasn’t too far away from holding it was he Jamie ah it’s a delight to watch it really is good to have him back on tour three I think it’s that weak grip it just allows him to throw the club under more you know he just plays those delightfully yeah I agree with that completely it’s the second shot hole this one oh that’s left that’s uh actually Frick’s trying to play his next shot I think his ball was finished next yes yes don’t be greedy oh two absolute Beauties bunkers down the left they the only Hazard really expect this to go way [Applause] left they five irons in here yesterday that is just a chip from there yeah with a pin on the right side as well Jamie it’s it’s a good angle to come in from isn’t it yeah that’s where you want to go there’s a there’s a penalty down the right haven’t seen anybody in that all week actually but uh all right Vo bra Bravo bra Master bra yeah that was a good shot from there have to take that one all day long can he get it there oh yes he can brilliant from Marcel SE two in a row so he moves ahead easy just to off and pull it a bit he hasn’t done that [Applause] thankfully you can tell from his body language just let it drift a little right just kept the club face open sticky lie he’s got his needs to get a perfect strike bit off the right uphill come on nice yeah very nicely played he often wins tournaments he’s done it three times already Marcel more short game magic for him he had 30 single puts over the first 54 holes which makes it sound like he’s putting brilliantly but actually he’s just tapping in after chipping brilliantly uhoh uhoh oh Marcel what have he done well that’s okay when you considered that the previous group both air mailed the green into the penalty are and this group have had to stand and watch it all go on they’re going to be nervous standing there aren’t they thinking what have they got so wrong little bold I didn’t think it was that hard was that hard good part for SE 14 Bogies and six doubles [Applause] well that’s position A1 in the Fairway cut cut beautiful as Jamie said life left to right shape on it ideal we said start it on the scoreboard at the back of the green she’s done and a little bit of spin just a little long half a club too much [Applause] maybe it looks pretty good pretty good oh good try so can hear that wind buffeting around going to tap that one in for a front line of 32 which in these conditions is is exceptional golf both of the guys on course were saying you know anything under par is a terrific score in these conditions and to knock it out in 32 playing in the last group that’s terrific playing just his fourth tournament back from that hip surgery and he was expecting to take a bit longer than this to get into contention good right right take that all day long I think that be must have got a rather nice bounce to the right otherwise I think he was worried about running out Fairway there pulled it wanted to go straight at it just pulled it slightly and you could see from his reaction straight away he knew he’d done it not much is c v and is a good put self he’s just been up and down this and had a little look had a little feel of it come [Applause] on so just aart the door is open a little for Rosner once you get past the cops of trees at 280 that’s heading a little bit left it’s just been a couple of swings recently with Marc doesn’t look quite as athletic doesn’t look as the body’s quite working as hard he’s really committed normally spinning his body out of the way getting the left side to clear and those last couple have looked a little bit lackluster in that respect well that could have been worse chipping back yes he Hing back into the breeze he’s got to chip up a little slope but could hear with the contact couldn’t you how much grass cop trapped between the club face and the ball there came out completely dead hope no one’s gone to the airport yet well that’s what I was just saying to Dominic this is a popup remember for Marcel seam at 11 he hasn’t dropped a shot yet today now he’s hoping it’s just the one oh I thought I was just sneaking out the right side there but there’ll be no fist pumps there let’s see how the Body Works through this one will he be fully committed unwind all the way through impact not let it stall yeah that was better well just crept into the left R but we saw Sharma get home from a similar position he’s just knocking it down there that surprises me he needs water in front of him and all that sort of stuff to take shots on yeah when you consider How brave he was at the Par 38 attacking that extremely dangerous pin I’m along with Jamie there I’m surprised he didn’t try and get it up we just saw a scoring average graphic that suggested if you go for the green it’s slightly more favorable in terms of the score but it was only slightly sort of 4.52 to 4.7 so not much in it now that’s a long way from his best whoa sit down he wasn’t listening Jamie well he’s not been in this position for a long time has he big moment in his round he’s just dropped a shot at 11 there we go the fist pump is back that was huge I mean just dropped the shot he’s playing part having a good chance for a birdie very good perfect absolutely perfect okay time to hit a good one Marcel You’ hit three four pictures this nine 103 this is begging to be hit close down the breeze he likes this one better that’s a little more like it for [Applause] Marcel Jamie read it coming from the left and it certainly did well trying to chop one in here see I think he likes it he’s not played this whole well so far this week three over for the first three rounds and let’s hope that’s not plugged just in the bit of luck really how it comes out get it out though boy oh boy that was good couldn’t do much better than that no an intelligent shot as well as an experience shot player with less experience might have thought and I’m right in the thick of it I can’t really afford to drop a shot in his box he said try and land it in the rough over the bunker and so dangerous you either leave it in the bunker or it doesn’t run through the rough Rich you’ve got to think ahead in these situation so many of the modern players just say no I’m playing one shot at a time completely focused on this shot but sometimes you have to look at what’s going on around you what holes are to come up as well would you agree yes I would yeah have a look out on the um have a good look at that leaderboard only 530 they can reach easily here yes Jamie it shows what pressure does you wouldn’t have believed that Rosner would take four from the side of that green on the last would you it was a horrible lie though Rich that that’s a tough green that 14 but no he should have made four me it’s got to go go well at least that one’s not plugged got to know what you’re doing out of here this time oh too C it in the only option he had out dear o dear I’m afraid it’s another drop shot for Germany’s Marcel Scene Three gone on this back nine 13 under walking to the 11th T he’s now back alongside McKibben and Rosner at 10 under par in a share of the lead hanging out was going to be okay it’s okay quite a way back oh God that was so close he just sort of eased a little ahead of that one there just bubbled a bit and went right it’s been a story of two very different nines for Marcel seam out there not just today but the whole of the week he’s not played the back nine well stay right right that got to bounce that got to bounce I apologies think there was a little bit of bad language in there picked up on our microphones yeah he’s good at him though isn’t he weak grip this is his toughest so far well well well that was unexpected it is so seam back to ner he needs to Birdie the last otherwise Tom McKibben having started three hours ahead of the leaders today is going to win the Italian Open [Applause] chance to take it into a playoff oh marel same what a from the German we are going into extra time How brave was that after what he’s gone through over the last few holes that’s his first birdie of the back nine you know yes he was three ahead of Tom mban at the turn and that was the clubhouse lead made four Bogies and then came up with that moment too much too much oh he’s cut that one right up and it’s heading for me and I’ve got to get out of the way that’s way back that was not the same Club he said too much when he struck it straight down for the T and pretty much straight down the middle of the Fairway as well so Advantage McKibben I think he’s gone right at that he has look at that Bey we love that soon as he
