New Titleist GT Drivers Arrive on the PGA Tour

New Titleist drivers debuted on the PGA Tour at The Memorial and pros were eager to try the Titleist GT2, Titleist GT3, and Titleist GT4. Titleist would not let me hit the new GT drivers, yet, but allowed me to film them and share them with you. Titleist is mum on the details about the new GT drivers, but based on history and what we can see, we already know a few things about the new Titleist drivers.
00:00 Hello GT Drivers!
00:16 Titleist GT2
01:51 Titleist GT3
03:59 Titleist GT4
06:26 What’s Next?

the title is gp2 gp3 and gp4 drivers are making their PGA Tour debut right here in Dublin Ohio site of the Memorial tournament at mirfield Village and while titles isn’t letting me hit them this week they are letting me check them out which means I’m going to let you check them out too let’s take a look okay so there are lots of things that we don’t know about the new Titleist GT series of drivers this is the GT2 now in previous versions of titles drivers the two designation means it’s basically your point and shoot bomber type Club that’s going to be the one that is going to have the highest Moi it is going to be the one that is based on you know basically really built for players looking for stability looking for the maximum amount of forgiveness um if we take a look here very very sort of classic design shape we’ve got one weight that’s position in the very back of the head now a weight in that position back there should be able to pull the center of gravity back and down in this head and when you do that you’re going to be increasing the stability increasing thei and so that’s why with just again that one weight in the back I would suspect that we’re talking about again a sort of more point and shoot High Moi High stability story when it comes to GT2 it has you know this very classic sort of looking face the thing that really I noticed right away is the size of the GT2 from the front to the back this is a very large driver from front to back again if you’re trying to build something that’s going to have a lot of stability if you’re going to try and increase the Moi then you need to get the weight back away from the hitting area and that means you need to extend out this portion of the golf club to put that weight back there as far as you possibly can now we do see that there is a surefit hazle mechanism here surefit hles entitles drivers and titles Woods frankly allow you to independently change the Loft as well as the lie angle and lie angle adjustments can be really really helpful for custom Fitters so this is the GT2 now I’m going to transition it into the GT3 now the GT3 is interesting because this driver I’m assuming is going to be taking place of tsr3 and tsr3 was wildly popular has been wildly popular really since the GetGo not only for the shape of that driver the aerodynamic properties of that driver also because of this area right in here and we can see once again it appears that there is a five position movable weight system that is positioned forward in the head of the GT3 now you can see T2 T1 and H1 and H2 those designations are undoubtedly for toe one2 and heel one2 neutral and this is going to allow players and Fitters to create either a fade bias or a draw bias so this is going to be left right adjustability unlike the GT2 we don’t see a weight in the back here so this is going to be much more of a weight forward situation here you can also see when I flip this around we now have a classic pearshaped driver this is the classic look of Titus drivers in the address position again gloss back finish you do get the emblem of GT right here but this is a very very classic looking driver shape and when you’ve got this kind of movable weight in a forward position this G GT3 I would assume is going to create less spin it’s going to create a lower ball flight and it’s going to create again we know with that movable weight you’re going to be able to shift the center of gravity position you’ve now got more left right adjustability than you would have in the GT2 the face of the GT3 also to my eye appears to be deeper meaning taller from bottom to top that is something that many more accomplished players and better players like to see they like the Deep face and in many Titleist drivers over the years the three Designated Drivers the ones that have more left right adjustability and are really designed for slightly more accomplished players they tend to have a deeper face to them so again you’ve got the um sh fit adjustable hosle system here this the single weight that’s going to be under here I would imagine through custom fitting that this weight can be swapped out for either a heavier or a lighter weight to give you more or less adjustability and and to be able to move that center of gravity either forward significantly or forward subtly in into these draw and fade biased positions now now I’ve got the GT4 now GT4 I’m assuming is going to be taking the place of tsr4 and this driver once again like the tsr4 has a forward weight and a rear weight now forward and rear weights mean that players and uh Fitters should be able to swap in heavier weights and lighter weights into these two positions and when you do that you’re going to be Shifting the center of gravity either forward or back so while the GT3 had left right adjustability to create basically the draw the fade the GT4 it would appear is going to give give you adjustability in the up and the down position by shifting that center of gravity back and putting a heavier weight back here in the in the far back section of the sole right where that seam of the sole meets the crown that’s about as far back as you can put it by putting a heavier weight back there you going to be pulling the center of gravity back increasing the moment of inertia you’re going to be creating a slightly higher ball flight and a little bit more spin by putting a heavier weight in the forward position up here you’re going to be shaving off spin creating a low more penetrating ball flly now the tsr4 was designed to basically be a TSR 3 and a half it was from an aerodynamic shaping standpoint very very similar and again we can see a very tall Crown right here um we’ve got that deep face not quite as deep maybe uh it’s difficult I’m just eyeballing this stuff as titles again has provided us with no details on these as of yet um it does have that deface positioning here but you really notice how the crown flares up from the Leading Edge and then swoops down and then sort of comes back in here very aerodynamic shaping here with the um the GT4 this driver when it came out as a tsr4 was designed to basically shave or reduce spin from the tsr3 but not as much as some of the other four designation drivers in the past have done with Titus Titus four series drivers have always been these really spin killing drivers and there comes a time when golf balls don’t Spin and drivers don’t create spin when you’ve just got no spin to work with and players and Fitters are basically telling titles we need something that’s not quite as spin killing because gives us the ability to do that and so the tsr4 was born it certainly looks like the GT4 is going to be taking the place of all that again looking at it in the addressed position you get that very very compact classic tidalist look um that pear shape that you can see right there nothing that’s going to visually UPSR you get a really serious mirror obviously you can see the trees and everything like that are up up behind me a really super glossed up finish on all of these drivers thanks a lot for joining me I’ll look forward to seeing you again really soon

  1. Great looking drivers. Personally I took my TSi-2 driver and added 10 grams of weight with a replacement from Maltby which hugely upped my M.O.I. And I’m finding fairways like never before. Love Titleist.

  2. I actually like that Titleist and other leading brands are not copying this awful full carbon construction of Tatlormade….I tested the AI SMOKE Triple diamond and the QI10 LS driver and titanium is still streets anead of the carbon in feel and response through the hands….not raining on the Taylormade parade…i play with the TM hi toe 3 lob wedge tour grimd and its out of this world… but for me…the carbon does not work….big question is will Taylormade go back to titanium face or a new space age metal for their next season offerings. I could not believe how poor the QI 10 ls felt…but maybe its just me having played metal drivers my whole career….ive also played laminated wood to and would rather go with maple than the carbon.

  3. I think the design team have done a great job to preserve the classic, purist design cues that their fan base have grown to love, while also somehow managing to give the range a new age vibe with the GT naming and centre stripe, looks very modern and classy. Will be tempting for those with drivers that are coming up 4-5 years old to upgrade. I’m tempted to bench the sim 2 and get one of these. Oh and hey – if you own a TSI OR TSR series driver and have money then I think Titleist have probably done enough here to tempt you, go for it, I won’t judge you.

  4. Fall release to the public is stupid. People buy drivers in the spring and early summer. That's just one reason why TaylorMade and Callaway always beat Titleist.

  5. @HighSpinSwingSpeed 2 weeks – Comment, (see below) well done for your comment, it is NOT to induce fade/draw bias, it puts the mass behind the invidual swing/strike on the face. Tired of hearing this fade/draw stupid comment, do your research, any golfer with an extreme out to in swing could put a 5kg weight at the heel of the club and they will never draw the ball.

  6. I get a kick out of all the big name company's saying each years new drivers will go at least 5-10 or more yds from the previous year models . so I have a driver that's about 10 years old that I carry about 240 yds so buying a brand new one 10 years later that baby should carry about 340 yds I don't think so ??? All the company's tout it Callaway Titleist Taylor made and more .

  7. Such a great looking shape and design Im finally ditching my Taylormade for a full set of Titleist (if these are released to Earthers!)
