okay so welcome back to another live lesson we’ve got Tim here with us 15 handicap golfer struggling to compress his irons and has a little bit of inconsistency from a directional standpoint we’re going to show you guys exactly how we’re going to get Tim to compress his irons and turn the dispersion from this into this so much more consistency now if you’re not a subscriber yet make sure you hit that subscribe button to never miss one of our weekly videos I love how he’s put me under a load of pressure here straight off the Straight Out The Gate pretty so what what we can see from this we we love the golf swing loads of power baseball player but what I’m seeing from this golf swing is that when you are swinging down that your upper body is staying back from the impact line whilst your lower body is driving through it if we think about that what’s that going to cause naturally it will cause you to hit the ground before the golf ball at some point you figured out I shouldn’t be hitting the ground before the golf ball I’ll just pick it off the top and that’s why you thin it a lot that’s why you top the odd Fairway metal I would say as well and it’s also why the dispersion is all over the place another side note on this is if we look at the down the line view we can actually see that Tim is aiming a Long Way to the left so we need to explain that first of all and understand what is going on here so basically you’re aiming a Long Way to the left but you’re kind of fooling the full swing a little bit by aiming left and then naturally swinging the club underneath so you’ve got this natural sort of draw swing which we like so is this natural draw swing causing you also to have this fault in the down swing is it causing this head to come back and down behind the GOL pole does that make sense makes sense okay perfect so the first thing we have to do is just Square you up and just see whether you actually see what happens as a result of doing that before we then get into the drills which are going to help you with your upper body notice the difference here and this is what happens all the time Andy look at this the right foot and the left foot they’re definitely different distances from that stick so bring the right foot back a little bit and then there we go that’s good that’s good it’s going to feel like you’re aiming Mars right here see have a look at the Target does that feel Mars right looks like my shoulder’s aiming directly at the Target instead of being kind of parallel to it okay well that’s actually not too bad then that’s not too far off let’s just get you hitting a few shots from there okay there you go just got to aim probably all it is ripped it straight on the target the the strange thing about this is that most golfers aren’t thinking about their aim but you the fact that you aim left forces you to swing more right forces you to do more of this so we were actually trying to almost just force you not to have to do these things oh good day it’s amazing isn’t it the most natural thing to happen in your gol swing is actually happening which is hitting the ground before the go yeah nice still a little thin yeah it’s still clean isn’t it great golf shot yeah I mean I’ll take that 4.7 de to the right on that path that’s what we’ that’s what we’re probably going to see more of definitely and just one quick one quick thing here now this is just so important for the viewers and you Tim really that what pi has talked about with your compression about you know getting the upper body doing it there’s no way that you could have really done that from your old alignment it just wouldn’t have worked cuz it would have screwed your consistency of Direction up so the alignment has to happen first cuz if you’d have changed your you changed the other stuff it has screwed the direction up that’s a beautiful golf shot that one felt good that’s really good so there’s a couple of drills that we can go for on this one but how do we get it so that we’re not here and we are more here when we’re hitting it so this lead shoulder gets up against the impact line similar to the lower body and we’re getting a little bit more shaftly and a bit more compression and the head is just spending less time over there and more time in this place here so call it the cover drill so Golf Club across the shoulders and then from here you notice what I’m doing with the club I’m getting the Leading Edge pointing up and I’m checking it I’m going to feel like I’m hitting the golf ball with the club face okay okay so go to my normal setup I do a back swing now we know that your swing from here would be lower body Drive upper body stays back the club never gets to the ball it’s like the club it never gets to the golf ball but what we would like to do from here is the lower body can still go but don’t have it as a conscious thought because you’re good at this let’s just get that upper body to rotate so we can actually get the the club face onto the ball and you’ll notice when I’m doing this the upper body now is not lagging behind so when we when we get into impact we’ll look more like this and then when we finish the shaft we both mentioned Tiger’s newest swing where he’s protecting his leg a little bit he’s getting his right shoulder forward and as and’s showing off there that lower back is not being put under strain there it’s more like that jump in there and have a go that let’s see how that works when you’re watching this at home notice what his head is doing okay it’s getting nowhere near my hand it’s moving that moving that way it’s moving forward does it feel like your upper body is moving more toward the target it does feels kind of like um pushing that way yeah okay now go again okay do it really get you feeling as if you’re moving this way okay there you go that’s it now you see how you really now feeling as if you’re moving over here yeah yeah let’s just have some swings now where you have that same feel that was great oh what was that yeah I know Turf interaction Turf interaction and was it after the ball as well yes so what I going to do I’m going to get our ball Striker towel in there and I’m going to get you hitting this off a very small te like it would just be off the ground still that one felt good yeah it was good wasn’t it felt more to the center of the club nice still on the clean side aren’t they they still yeah a little yeah a little thin still so here’s what I would say if you have this as your pattern and you say well we don’t get get to practice too much you only need 20 balls doing this 20 balls one shot five of these and then a shot five of these and then a shot and before you know you’ve done a great workout you’ve really worked at it and you’ve probably had really high quality when it comes to doing the drill this is definitely a drill I will be working on at home yeah to feel like I’m covering the ball and perfect now I have a practice swing you go there we go that’s exactly what we wanted to see cuz if if if the ball was here you’d have absolutely compressed the crap out of that that would have been perfect yeah that was a bit of noise wasn’t it it was a little behind it but maybe a little bit behind yeah ni shot good let’s have these practice swings to the side the drill’s taking shape we know we’re going to do that a lot so let’s just have like a practice swing here hit the ground and then move into the shop oo so just a quick one on quick one on that one cuz sometimes you can cheat so I felt like I threw my hands down on it so there was more of a yeah let’s just hit the ground there with with this as opposed to hit the ground by opening out the body you really want to be getting this now to to Really Turn through on the way through okay good good hold it there so you can see now he’s definitely much more balanced on that left leg without you sort of Le leaning back so much a lot more Dynamics through the ball really nice so good and we still got good height as well on these it’s still good height that’s plus 100 ft no question yeah yeah yeah how’s about if we actually got you just just introducing a bit of a turning of your Peak on your cap and let’s see if we can get the head and the shoulder to turn more towards the target a bit earlier okay I’m I’m mindful of how we go through this because I’m I’m mindful of what generally happens when we do this with a turning of the head is that actually we can sometimes catch it a little bit cleaner but I just want to see if it’s going to help the head Advance more than anything so I’ve got to be careful with this drill and it doesn’t you don’t have to go at full speed remember the faster you go the more your old pattern will come in the slower you go it gives room for the new thoughts and new patterns to start to take over very nice beautiful best swing you’ve done today how did that feel Tim cuz that was the that the best quality swing you’ve done today it felt good off the club uh and then with my head being here I definitely lost where it was going but I’ll take your word for it that it look good so so I tell you what you have to do all you have to do is when you do turn your head just make sure you look at the flag that’s where it’s going let’s get this slot out the way so we’ll get this out of the way we’re now going to test how good you are aiming consistently making sure you don’t mess that up I mean that noise was just phenomenal is that a divot a little bit best one best one that’s the best strike you’ve hit today little slower if you can let’s see if we can crunch it oh The Noise Okay the noise really really nice mean can we that was best one that one felt good for sure best one still really nice so good so good I mean let’s look at the difference here we can just see obviously we know the alignment is good but if we look actually at the difference of that impact line we can now see that the lead sh is getting to the impact line whereas it was short before and we can see that the head is actually rotated a little bit more great job thank you guys well on Tim guys if you want to go through the exact system that we’ve taken Tim through check out pure yours clicking right there and don’t forget to download the M my golf app thanks again and we’ll see you soon

Where are you located? I'm assuming you are located somewhere in Europe? Any golf clinics coming to the US? Phoenix Arizona?? 🙃🤗
great drill…I have the exact same problem, hard to fix
Hit the like button if you would like to see us do a series with one student to document the progress he/she makes over time👍
This is really good stuff. Thank you guys!
They moved to San Diego leaving the beautiful English climate behind.
I for one not falling for the good golfer lesson. His swing is way better than a 15 handicapper.
I see that you are not bringing your left hip to the target, you rather bring it back on the way through by straighten up your left leg.
If this dude is a 15 handicap I don’t think iron shots are his weak point
Well done guys 😊
07:58, That yawn shaming was savage 😂
the real reason its hard.. im a new player hcp 25 is there is so much to keep in mind when practicing that i usually train parts of the swing and when i try to combine it. For example my swing is good now. I havent really figured out if my his should start to move at top of backswing or when i start the downswing. And when i try to combine these i loose compression instead in iron shots. I see Asian golf coaches often teach when in top of swing, it looks like squat slide turn move. So if you guys could build a video on how to combine these parts with good drills i would be very happy.
Me being an ex baseball player of 17 years. This video is amazing and hits home!! ❤
The Yawn!
I’d like it if you ran a series with one student, not at the expense of these kind of one off vids tho, if your student isn’t struggling with what I’m struggling with, why would I watch with my usual enthusiasm, I’ve got enough to be thinking of, without the stuff I don’t need, yet 👍
Great lesson guys!
Really awesome stuff, I have been battling the same issue
Very good video, certainly made me think of what I am doing, am I moving forward or turning?
He has a handicap 8 swing
Once again (as always) a very useful to the point video. How about one showing how to turn wrist overs in swing with correct plane and aim etc. ,just can’t get it with any continuity.
I can attest for this drill. It’s great for the weight transfer and compression
Great video…. Horrible sound! 😮
Note sure if Piers trousers or legs is more white 😂 looks a great drill for myself 👍
