Use the Bunker as a Trackman for your Golf Swing Release

GRF Golf Head Coach Marcus shows Bernd and Petra how using the bunker can be used as a training and feedback tool for discovering their swing path and low point. This excellent golf exercise will lead to a lower handicap and a better score on the golf course.

so we’ve got a highway got the lane we can’t move from one side to the other we got to try and move forward we’re going to contact the ground here M then further forward in the middle and then over there but the divots are straight the last one in particular this is an extreme we’re taking you out I’m taking you outside your ranges so that the body can access the normal range much easier but we are feeling what we have to do with our body to move into that space and then when you can move into that space this space doing it is easy okay or easier should I say so then we move over here little swings shallow and then get in heavier and heavier and heavier this is the horizontal aspect of it whereabouts are we having to move laterally this is the vertical this is the the depth of the diver the timing of the release the low Point there’s going to be so much lag low Point goes down for you to go up this is like our track man so this is giving us low point before and after it’s even giving us a feel for angle of attack and the depth of the low point because you never really see your true low point no no normally because the club bouncing off the ground you can feel it in the air with the driver but we never really sense it with an iron so this is giving us we can see pretty much cuz there’s some resistance but of course we’re seeing the low point and how deep that is below the surface then we can use our vertical so we if I can do this now I can use my vertical bring which raises it and now I’ve got a shallow strike but we need this to use the vertical so these two exercises are fantastic for starting to get a sense of awareness for that right good move forward yeah very good nice that’s awesome well done and what you’ll see when you watch the video back is you’ll see your how your body movement changes yeah to get further forward suddenly the body this is where it’s taking you it’s taking you from this where you’re not having to do much yeah to this to then suddenly you’re now starting to use the movements the drop and the pop the number three and the number four to get you into this space the second was the second one the straight line little swings M moving along shallow shallow gradually deeper deeper deeper deeper deeper okay really soft and shallow and then gradually make it deeper that’s awesome good as we get deeper we don’t want to go more left ah okay yeah for this exercise so we can control that means we have to use our three a little bit more there we go that’s it so you can sense how you’re changing your swing Direction with the a orientation all right keep going it’s good I’m talk it’s good so the orientation of your body changes the swing Direction cuz you’re changing the timing of the rotation where you are at that moment in time relative to the release nice that’s fantastic and spring oh look at that there’s your dropping Puff look at that there’s the rotation of the hips got the spring you see you got the impulse that feel good Petra yes yes different feeling again yeah this is such a different feeling isn’t it yeah yeah yeah just in the middle of the stand though so this this line wants to be in the midle where the ball would be yeah so you have to move more so it needs to be forward of the line yeah so we can see so this is the tip so yeah so this is just now giving you the feedback too early in the morning it’s also like a pressure plate because you can feel your feet you it’s it’s a soft surface so you can feel where the you can feel the pressure from foot to foot to foot and the timing of it we need to get the pressure across very early yeah so like using the pressure plate the Red Dot needs to get across early now you’re in that place with the rotation yeah to get up to use the movement yeah starting the divot here and over there yeah afterwards yeah but don’t so what you’re doing is you’re cheating by moving the line back in the stance look so the B’s got to stay in the middle or where the ball would be now you’ve got it now look to making your body move that’s awesome nice now see the spring and then the hips there you go using his vertical using his Vector nice see the lag look at this look how late he leaves his leg you see look look at that it’s the swing radius is narrow and then widening so late wow there we go that’s fantastic cool then what you do is you have a nine ey in mhm I can step in now you want to be drilling this as low as you can get it getting that diver after the ball mhm and driving that like that into the ground it’s not about playing a nice pretty bunker Shar this is about through force force attack okay but through the patterns that you created oh wow wow wow wow what a move C I learn it from you yeah yeah that’s awesome that’s what we want that is fantastic what you can also see is an arc so if you you were to start making here you’re on the ark ah okay yeah so what you can do now is feel this part of the Ark yeah yeah move back a little bit so now you’re on the ark and then start to rotate the body rotate the face so you’re using it for pace and path so create the arc gentle soft shallow Arc first and then move back to where you feel you are on the into to out so come back that’s it now move your feet just move the ball shuffle your feet back for me move your feet back so now you’re on this part of the Ark mhm so that’s it now you keep that feeling mhm and just let the face rotate that’s it there you go slight a different feel yeah take that stone away no off you go so it’s a slightly different feel with the path yes there you go and that allows the arms there to rotate then and flex and superate basically that left WR yeah feel the difference yes whereas what you tend to do in your swing is you’re here yeah and then it goes yeah yeah yeah that’s still going to happen but later it’ll still be happening through impact so if you watch like Rory mroy you’re going to see the rist yeah all all the players it’s a hand coordination sport so you’re going to be in this and the RIS you’re transferring speed and the clubs taking over too so but we just don’t want that happening of course too early but this is just going to make it later and later and later all right yes we’ll get the balls and we’re going to go up to the range cool cool if you love the coaching and want to experience the effects of the training that you see with our pupils you can purchase the GFI system Yourself by following the link in the video description you’ll get all the equipment and a 2-hour download covering all the fundamentals exploring your movement and how you can use the ground and create those all important ground reaction forces and transfer them through to Club head speed and experience the gains that
