Lowry’s score could have been even lower if not for the adverse weather that interrupted his momentum on the 14th hole. Storms halted play, slowing down the Offaly native’s progress. Before the delay, the 37-year-old was on fire, highlighted by a spectacular 24-foot eagle putt. Throughout his round, Lowry racked up birdies on the 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 9th holes, followed by additional birdies on the 10th and 11th, culminating in an impressive eagle on the 13th. His flawless round was a testament to his top-notch golfing prowess.

Since the USPGA Championship, Lowry’s putting has been exceptional. He mentioned that his performance on the challenging Pinehurst No. 2 green during the US Open was among his finest. Carrying that momentum forward, he executed some exquisite iron and wedge shots, setting up short birdies in his second round at the $20 million Signature event. Lowry’s short game was unmatched, as he accumulated a total of 92 feet in putts. He also led the field in sand saves and scrambling, showcasing his all-around skills.

Meanwhile, Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre posted an impressive 8-under 62, marking his career-low for an 18-hole score on the PGA Tour. This event was his first Signature Event appearance since his triumph at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open. Ireland’s own Shane Lowry trails the dynamic Korean prodigy Tom Kim by just four strokes, with Kim boasting a score of -13 after two rounds. Celebrating his 22nd birthday yesterday, Kim holds a two-shot lead over Akshay Bhatia, Collin Morikawa, and the world’s top-ranked player, Scottie Scheffler.

One stroke behind them is Xander Schauffele, while Lowry finds himself tied for sixth with Sungjae Im and his playing partner, Justin Thomas. Lowry will begin his third round at 6:30 PM Irish time, once again teeing off with Thomas. The pair has shared the course together throughout the first two rounds.
