and for your Miami Marlins they give the ball to the 26-year-old South Paul out of Alabama braxon Garrett in six starts this season Garrett is two and2 with a 6.10 ra 0 and2 and he elevates the fast ball and gets Mason wi doesn’t strike out a ton but he goes down to start the ball game and here’s F Meine slowly hit towards short Anderson to his left quick release close play and save fine beats it out wonder if fine missed the bag no he didn’t touch the bag so he’s out this one should not take very long they will challenge it by the wayi is overturned the runner is out I am to retain their challenge so the Marlins retain their challenge two outs and here’s the Cardinals first baseman line into left field that was a bullet and gold Schmid a two- out single starting to sound louder and louder off Paul’s bat in recent days Nolan arado loves playing here 14 homers 46 RBI career-wise against the Marlins one ball and two strikes that’s up the middle and OT Lopez is there to get the out how about that it’s a gold glove caliber play to get the guy who’s got 10 of them Sunny gray after he got off to the great start then he had a little hiccup but now he’s back on track and he’s three and0 against the fish in his career and he’ll be on the mound tonight pitching was outstanding for the red birds at Wrigley Field that Trend we hope continues tonight Jazz with the righty on the hill is in that top spot that’s a chance didn’t going to get Jazz close play and they got him at first base at least for the moment check that one out they kept their challenge because they got the call overturned in the top of the inning he got it toes on the bag and thank goodness for the larger bases on that one after review the call on the field is over return the runner is safe Miami retains her challenge so let’s SK see if skip shoeer puts Chisum in play he stolen 133 bases and Brian De La Cruz is up De La Cruz a short hop to short Mason with a terrific play and he Glides across to complete the double play Bell next pitch grounds to First and how about that for efficiency three outs on seven pitches second inning of a scoreless game and Sanchez it’sit a rifle shot to Center back goes canani he makes the catch and then braces himself against the wall out there at the 400t marker did I say we’ve had some good defense already in this game well you can add that one to the list and that may have been the best one that ball was a rocket off the bat of Sanchez first pitch in the inning straight away center field he took a perfect route to it and twom men are down for Nick Gordon the pitch by Sunny gray pounded on the ground of the second baseman fine throws out Gordon we have a nothing nothing defensive game in Miami there’s nobody on and two out here in the third and Jose for mean will bat another Full Count line into left field there’s for means solid contact another two- out hit for the Cardinals who have three singles in the game and that brings gold Schmid up who launched one 111 milph to left his first time on the ground deep short nice pick by Anderson and a high throw and Goldie tried to slide to First and he got under the tag Anderson had more time the stab was good but he had enough time there to set his feet make a better throw and he just nonchalant did it hopefully the Cardinal can make it hurt let’s see if ronado can take advantage first chance for the Cardinals with a runner in scoring position the runners will once again take off the pitch swung on and hit in the air to left field Nick Gordon’s going back on the warning track with room makes the catch and the inning is over and for the second time tonight Nolan arado heaves his helmet down this time he didn’t even get to the first base bag and he walks Chism he certainly didn’t want to do that first walk of the ball game Runner goes Pitch Out P has throw is right on the money and Chism is gunned out the Cardinals pitch out and throw out Jazz Chism perfect throw from PES one away a bullet and a great tag at the bag by for me Josh Bells two for his last 28 at the plate and there’s Sunny Gray’s first strike out Bell is down and we’re looking forward to the Cardinals getting some runs as seani cracks one down the the right field line this might be fun it is he ambushes the first pitch and homers to right in the Cardinal strike first the second home run of the season for canani one- nothing Cardinals in the fifth inning the gray gets to pitch with the lead he will face Jesus Sanchez whom canani robbed with a twisting and turning catch gray ready and here it comes strike three oh man what a generous call for sunny Gray wow you can understand why Sanchez is upset about that it might end up being a little chirping from the Marlins Dugout on this one so back-to- back strikeouts for gray out number two M Gordon is next the pitch it’sit slowly up the first base side Sunny gray gets to it takes it to the bag himself one unassisted and Gordon has won for his last 12 gray has tossed six career complete games he might be on his way to throwing another complete game and it might be a shut out here tonight Tim Anderson has one of the two Marlins hits and now he’s got two of the three a ground ball hit sharply into center field Anderson a big turn at first he’s got a base knock leading off the bottom of the sixth inning here is a Lopez Sunny Gray’s pitch that is hit right back to Sunny gray fires to first base to get the out he looked a second and covering late it was fine so Sunny took the out at first base and the Marlins have the tying man in scoring position with one out here in the bottom of the sixth kn that is a big time blunder by the second baseman Jose fine and a Big Time Break for the Miami Marlins they have to find a way to get him in that should have been an easy 1 43 double play now the tying run is Anderson at third with two outs Jazz Chisum Jr the batter two and one and that’s a fair ball down the line that’ll tie the game and jazz on his horse on his way to Second the ball got stuck in the corner and he’s heading toward third with with an RBI Triple A little simple thing turns out to be a big problem for the Cardinals a comebacker that could have been two Sunny gray couldn’t pull the trigger and throw a second to start what could have been a double play Sunny gray out for the bottom of the seventh inning one-1 our score out number one Jus Sanchez will bat this one golfed out toward left center field and it’s going to get down off the base of the wall Sanchez finally something to show for it tonight with a one out double and now some more stress for sunny gray Cardinal starter he has not gotten a lot of run support in this game that’s for sure and now there are two men down and now just 90 ft away is Jesus Sanchez with Nick Gordon stepping to the plate and here comes the next delivery a swing and a miss he struck him out PES is going to have to throw him out at first and he does he uh strikes out and a two3 and sunny gray got a big strike out there to end the seventh second and third two down Cardinals are 0 for two with runners in scoring position tonight now it’s up to Herrera to come through with a big two out hit line to right field that’s going to drop for a base hit one run scores goalie on third the ball gets by Sanchez Herrera on his way to Second he’s on his way to third the Cardinals Take the Lead 3 to one and the Cardinal fans here in Miami are having a great time and the Cardinals hoping for more here’s Brendan Donovan another base hit Donovan adds on it’s 4 to one St Louis that’s that extra run you always want to get to make it a three-run lead Sunny gray is out there for his eighth inning of work he’s gone seven Innings twice on the season chip but this got a chance here to be his longest outing of the Season here’s a check swing strike three called on Anderson and the Cardinals throw the ball around the infield the fourth strike out for sunny gray Lopez takes a walk and here’s Nick fortez Cardinal right hand turns it Loose there’s the shot toward short win fires back to First and back safely is Lopez fortees hit it hard but he’s the second out that was one big league performance Sunny gray 84 pitches two outs of the eighth inning and listen to the Cardinal fans salute there Ace in game one he leaves with a 41 lead in Miami this is joejoe Romero who’s making his 33rd appearance of the Season he’s got a 1.8 nine ER well here is dala Cruz representing the tying run he has 11 home runs and 30 RBI eyes the starters can hardly bear to watch tying run at the plate swinging a Fly ball hit deep right center field he crushed it it’s got a chance come on baby go it’s gone we’re tied De La Cruz spikes his b on his way to first it’s a game tying three-run bomb here in the bottom of the eight and the heartbreaking nature of this the amazing effort for sunny gray will be a no decision for him two outs and Tim Anderson is two for three on three and two two outs a swing and there’s a high fly ball left center field it belongs to the left fielder Donovan cutting in front of canani Donovan makes the catch Runner Gorman goes to third he’s there with one out now for Nolan arado who’s 0 for four tonight the one-w pitch swung on and Miss strike three he went right back to the slider Aron’s down for the second time tonight if the Marlins are able to get out of this one without giving up a run you love their chances swung on lifted in the air left field and deep Gordon’s going back with room makes the catch in the inning is over the Cardinals can’t cash in the place Runner here in the 10th Anderson is at third they will pull Nick forz back and vidall bruhan will have an opportunity Kelly to be the hero popped up that’s playable on the infield Goldie at the line has all the room in the world and there’s your second out second and third two outs in the bottom of the 10th and now it’s Fernandez versus De La Cruz who has struck out 77 times that leads the Miami team here it comes swing and a miss he struck it out great work for Ryan Fernandez Alec burles will be the runner at second base for the run in red birds 3-2 he is rolled back to the mound throw to third bad throw everybody safe Burleson was dead to rights with a good throw instead nardy bounced It Wide in the bag and the Cardinals have a huge break first and third nobody out first and third infield in Dylan Carlson a Fly ball get you the lead swing Fly ball that’ll get the job done chism’s going to catch it Burleson’s going to tag here comes the throw it’s going to be cut off behind the m and Dylan Carlson comes through with a go-ahead RBI in the 11th St Louis leads it 5 to4 if you’re wondering where Ryan Helly is today remember he’s been worked a ton he’s pitched in four of the last six so it’s kitridge the veteran that is getting the nod another guy that has been been so good at the back end of this Cardinal Bullpen there’s one away in the tying run is at third infield is in here Sanchez here comes the pitch swing at the ground ball left side diving stop by canani only played at first the out is made there but we’re tied at five Meyers going on contact I think he did the right thing there I do too I don’t think he’s got a chance to throw if he goes home and the call is safe this could just mushroom out of control and it’ll be up to Mason wind to try to drive in PES got to get this run in the 02 pitch to Mason wi is hit sharply to left field backing up is Gordon looking up and it’s gone big fly Mason win in the 12th on an 02 pitch he hammered it over the left field wall gr I know he’s a rookie but he sure doesn’t play like one and he hasn’t tonight Berger is the place runner at second here in the 12th the Batters Nick Gordon swinging a line drive right field the base hit rolling into the corner burer will score easily Gordon’s on his way to Second it’ss the bag wants a triple where is the ball oh nobody can find the ball it’s stuck in the corner oh that robs Gordon of a triple the ball is lodged under the fence and right field he could have picked it up that is terrible one of the umpires has got to go remove that lodged baseball from the wall and it looks like we’re going to have a challenge over that that should be an RBI triple for Nick Gordon after review the call on the field is overturned the ball not locked in the wall we’re run from second scores the batter Runner remains at third base the tying runs at third base and there’s nobody out and Anderson’s at the plate boy what a lot of ups and downs in this game the O2 delivery is hammered into right field and Carlson’s able to catch it we’re going to have a play at the plate the throw is on its way and he is out at the plate he threw him out what a strike from Dylan Carlson in right field right on the money and the Marlins are now down to their last out what a play what a throw by Dylan ground ball to third Nolan’s got it throw across low and Goldie with a game saving snag Cardinals win it’s 7 to6 and the Cardinals defense Saves the Day in the 12th inning tonight

  1. Slick slide by Goldy, a punchout by Pages, a wide strike zone for Grey, Carlson's rope to Pages, and Goldy's scoop up of Arenado's lousy throw to close it out! It was the Redbirds night!

  2. You think we could get Sonny Gray a different belt, I’ve watched a lot of Cardinals baseball this year. Every time this dude pitches he’s adjusting his belt, tucking in a shirt, pulling his pants up. He might just need a better fitting uniform all together. Lol

  3. I liked a lot but also didn't like a lot. Winn is that dude. Pag behind the plate is like a veteran

  4. Every time one of the Cardinals did something that might raise questions, they made up for it in a big way. What a team win for them.

  5. Low key my favorite play of the game is Carlson trying to get the ground rule double on the "lodged" ball, if that had worked he doesn't have to make that killer outfield assist throw

  6. Carlson was a hero…. but let's not forget Winn's HR and Siani's HR… the heroes of the evening. And that was BS what they did with Carlson when that ball got stuck & they overturned it when he raised his hands. Carlson got even, Karma is a bitch for the Marlins…

  7. How about Skip Shumaker going 4 for 4 on the challenges? That’s gotta be close to a record.
