PADRAIG HARRINGTON, SANDRA PALMER LEAD CLASS OF ’24 INDUCTED INTO WORLD GOLF HALL OF FAME

[Music] well friends let’s dive into some remarkable news from the World of Golf padrick Harrington the Irish golfing Legend has always had his sight set on the cleric jugs and the W maker trophy the World Golf Hall of Fame wasn’t exactly his childhood dream but it’s certainly a prestigious nod that he’s come to appreciate especially seeing so many of his peers like burnhard Langer and VJ Singh adorned with the Hall of Fame label reflecting on this Honor Harrington shared you kind of look at these guys and you want to be one of them you want to be part of it many of the guys on the champions tour were actually guys I looked up to when I was turning pro watching them on TV at pro events so it’s nice to be part of that crowd Harrington is set to take his place among these Legends during the World Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony now relocated from St Augustine Florida to Pinehurst thanks to the USGA it’s on the second floor of the USGA experience Building A fitting new home for such a prestigious event with 21 worldwide wins including the Open Championship in 2007 and 2008 and the PGA Championship in 2008 Harrington joins LPGA star Sandra Palmer as the only living inductees this class also honors LPGA great Beverly Hansen former open Champion Tom weof and former US Open Champion Johnny Ferell postumus adding to the honor the remaining seven founders of the LPGA are also being inducted as a group making it the largest World Golf Hall of Fame class since 2008 Harrington’s career is nothing short of extraordinary he made his breakthrough at Carusi in 2007 overcoming a double bogey on the final hole to beat Sergio Garcia and win the open a year later he clinched the open at Royal burkdale and became the first European winner of the PGA Championship in 78 years his achievements also include three other wins on the PGA Tour 12 wins on the DP World Tour and five other victories on global circuits not to forget he was part of six Ryder Cup teams and captained the 2021 matches at Whistling Straits at 52 Harrington has continued his winning ways with seven victories on the PG a tour Champions including the US senior opened 2 years ago reflecting on his career and this latest Accolade he said when you’re in your career and you win tournaments and receive Awards you always assume there’s going to be another one you maybe don’t enjoy them the way you should at the time so by getting into the Hall of Fame it brings a lot of emotions validation no doubt about it satisfaction no doubt about it it’s a deep set satisfaction that I’ve done it and I’ve done well Sandra Palmer another star of this class boasts 19 LPGA victories including two major championships Tom viov who sadly passed away in August 2022 was renowned for his 16 PGA Tour wins and his candid insightful commentary on television Beverly Hansen won 17 times on the LPGA including three majors and was known for beating some of the greatest names in golf Johnny frell previously a member of the PGA Hall of Fame was famous for his 36 hole playoff Victory against Bobby Jones in the 1928 US Open let’s celebrate these incredible athletes and their contributions to golf and hey if you love hearing about these Legends and want to stay updated make sure to subscribe to our Channel and give this video a like thanks for tuning in and don’t miss our next news update coming up on your screen see you on the GRE
