hey Ral how you doing I got Max H here he’s somewhat of a hero to me he’s a Wells Fargo champion at my home course in Quail my son just met him like I’m a little a little nervous but uh Max first time to Pinehurst Joe your cat Joe grinder told me how much you love this place like first time coming in this week what are you thinking yeah like legitimately might be my favorite course i’ ever been to I haven’t quite finished it yet uh but this is the type of golf I like I like the Rolling Hills I like a little bit of funky around the greens I like uh a lack of deep rough I like runoffs on the side it’s just like it’s it’s beautiful every every bit of it I like it’s a little bit crazy at times and I like that to who doesn’t like a little bit of crazy all right so we’re on we’re on 13 you you said this is the first time you’re seeing the back nine did you do anything in preparation of after hearing about this golf course did you do anything different to to get ready I kind of got lucky in that uh hadn’t been driving that well when we found that when I bring my flight and my driver down it it’ss a lot straighter and and everyone was telling me hey that’s really key thing out here you’re going to be able to hit a BB and it’ll roll out just as far as maybe the high bomb so I just you know I wouldn’t say that I prepped for that but it’s it’s worked out so far so I like that and as far as chipping off of Bermuda grass that’s I mean on the PGA toour we’re a professional golf we play all over the place you’re comfortable ask you uh lud B overberg just hit uh walking up here looks like your ball maybe has found a little bit of his native area that’s exciting yeah this is great said a good one and I was like I was hoping you were in the job yeah you were right you went again and this is this is some of the thicker stuff this is actually the worst I’ve seen we’ve been pretty lucky in this I really do think you could always whack it up there and the benefit about this place and speaking to your chipping uh question is if you’re below the hole even if you have 60 ft Ian you could putt it anywhere you could hit whatever Club you want we’ve been hitting mostly putter so I just think that once you’re in here if your lie isn’t great which that one looks actually okay take a look at this let’s take a look at this lie over here m you seem to have always get always get some an area where you can get a lot of balls which is good I mean it’s not a gray lie in the world but you can get something on it I can get some on it and then if from here I can just you know figure out where I’m going to have the easiest putt or some kind of chip uh for me it’s been mostly putter so it’s really not that awful 66 hole but this is definitely the thickest stuff we’ve 66 hole looks like you got a little bit of uh interference yeah we got a little bit of couple roadblocks but honestly I think all things consider this is pretty so that’s pretty fine you have this shot the screen’s pitched up here on the 13th it’s not a crazy green it’s over the back is okay correct like what are you thinking on this process of where you want to hit the shot I think that’s exactly it is is we would figure out where the leave is it looks I haven’t been up there but it looks like short is not great so if that’s the case then 66 pin I’m going to try to probably fly pretty close to 66 and take past it okay um if it comes out 63 and gets close that’s awesome and are you adding for this lie and the interference or you just trying to make I actually have to take off a shade because I’m going to put it back in my stance to get ball first so swing wise it’s going to come out warm okay so I actually probably if anything taking off a bit more andab warm with Austin Kaiser up there wouldn’t be a bad thing and the words of Rich learner do that awesome lik it see but you can get a lot of ball on a lot of these lies so it’s not it’s it’s not good but it’s it’s gives you an option right and so you’re talking around the greens as well you had said that putter is pretty much your choice from off the greens in my opinion not making it too complicated and using like eight different clubs cuz then you got to be good with eight different clubs I’m trying to get really good with this one there’s definitely a couple times when it’s been really into the grain the putter bounces a lot as it’s rolling the ball bounce a lot when you put it take a five round and hook it a little bit so into the grain lie you’re not trying to chip a 56 it would really depend it would there’s a couple spots there’s a spot long left of seven that’s very grainy and that one yesterday we hit a couple of the five arms with a short sided pin but there’s one that’s pitched it’s a little longer and it’s pitched pretty into you and that one was pretty easy just kind of poke a 56 and let it kind of Chase in check so it really depends that but I think that’s why I like this place so much and why it’s so good is because depends where the pin is with what Chip Shot you’re going to hit and yes some lies are going to stink but it might not be bad if certain pins are where they are so you you have to be creative but in prep I’m trying just to hit a few of them a lot of times instead of a lot of them a few times that’s cool is that that that five iron shot is that something that you have in the Arsenal or is that I’ve always used I’ve always used a five iron and eight iron when I’m bumping again I try to simplify it I wouldn’t probably barely chip with a nine iron you know but I’m good at an eight and five I usually use the five like when I used to play the Honda you know or the cognizant now uh it’s so grainy you need something and it doesn’t roll that great up putting there so I I’ve definitely used it a decent amount but like I said here I’ve always enjoyed like the the Open Championship where you put everywhere so I I feel quite comfortable doing it cool well this is your first time around this golf course go do your work on the greens it’s have a great week be written for mustache looks even better up close thank you Max George back to you

  1. Johnson is killing it with these. More of this, please. Seriously. This is golf coverage in its purest form.

  2. I predict that: (1) Scheffler doesn't make the cut because his mistakes will be big and he won't be able to recover
    (2) Every shot that Woods takes will be televised; regardless of how he plays, the media will be impressed and
any bad bounces will be addressed by saying Woods is playing really well
    (3) Pre opening and 2nd round, the favorite to win will be Woods
    (4) DeChambeau will contend
    (5) The winner will be the one who plays the best over all 4-rounds and will somewhere between even and 4 over

  3. yall are just copying everything that liv golf is doing. COMING SOON: PRO V PRO MATCHES ON THE COURSE THATS COMING UP

  4. I like Max, though he walks like he's just heard some very bad news. Is very recognisable on the course.
