Today I get a golf lesson to fix the wrists in the golf swing. With these wrist fixes on the downswing and transition, it helps me compress the ball and gets my hips open effortlessly. My golf coach Dana Dahlquist goes over the proper way to use golf swing kinematics to do this, and we also go over golf tips and drills to achieve all this.

everyone always wants to have perfect rotation in their hips to look so open at impact like all the greatest PGA Pros but do not understand the proper way to allow that to happen I’ve spent months painstakingly trying to clear the hips and never realized how the body should be moving before to allow this to happen naturally so today I’m with one of the greatest golf coaches in the entire world Dana dalquest who coaches Bryson D Shambo Victor hlin and everyone’s new favorite golfer Jake knp who not only looks like he has the most effortless swing but also sends it 350 yards down the Fairway we go over how the proper wrist angles on the downswing helps your hips naturally react and how to educate the hands in the golf not only that but we go through the entire bag so if you need help with your 3-wood end driver definitely stay tuned lastly he teaches me how to simplify the game and why most amers don’t score well on the course and what to do instead so S2 let’s go perfect okay one more just a little observation what do you see your ball is doing like what’s the if we had to miss it’s pushing so it starts to the right it’s a little high yeah right okay let’s chat real quick okay cool so when we look at the caddy view right here um left shoulders your radius right hip we’re going to be talking about hand hand stuff today yeah turn looks fine pressure spikes left and then right about coming down if we looked here what do you notice about this angle my wrist yeah left wrist is just like it’s extended right so CED okay right elbow looks fine now um normally with like tour players the butt end of the club right here would look closer to that ball okay so what does that I’m going to let this is kind of rest here for a minute you see that so what actually does that is not you pulling the butt into the club towards the ball okay okay yeah what does that is actually the process of rotation of the body and and we’ll call it rotation but it’s process of like pushing up back and around so me pushing from the lead side up back around pulls the handle more forward to the golf ball okay yeah um we also don’t want to get the handle to be back because then the right wrist starts to unload like that and that is what’s giving you more Dynamic lofting hitting it in the air yeah so this happening so that’s kind of the first thing okay so when we look at that coming in we can see that that kind of lines up see that how the handle doesn’t have a lot of shuffling yeah as you come through okay now the argument would be like oh you just need to clear your hips mhm but the precursor was that the left wrist was open yeah so one of the things we need to understand is if the left wrist is open coming down and you don’t have a mechanism to square it yeah you’re not going to turn your hips or you’re going to hit it way way right okay so you kind of stop turning and then line the club up now when we look here so that looks fine then when you come down you start to turn the club shallows that looks fine and then right through here that face is is better it’s a little open still yeah okay and therefore you can’t pivot yeah so everything kind of looks square and then kind of stalled right there yeah that’s like I think the big problem I think we were working a lot on just like this the last time and then yesterday we kind of behind the scenes we’re working kind of on this but right now I think the sensation is like I think think I’m doing it and I’m trying to do it a lot but it just doesn’t translate and so maybe we need to you need to do it early so what you need to do this is kind of important is you need to give yourself an opportunity to create rotation of your hips okay so that’s one way of looking at it yeah if the face is open you you remove that opportunity yeah if the face starts to close earlier however you do it there’s different ways of doing it but the way you should be doing it is by the left wrist kind of going into some amount of flexion and The Mask getting down okay and if that happens then the the pivot will start happening see how my right wrist is now bent yeah so go take your setup we’ll we’ll do this okay and this is good on the grip still yeah grip looks great okay so go ahead and uh take it back for me so like your input is that this wrist is going to start flexing this way mhm and the right wrist is going to start bending okay now you’re going to do that as much as you possibly can as the toe is closing before you hit the golf ball and if you do that now the face is over there yeah now you have to Pivot the hips to get there okay see that so it’s down this way and then and then pivot the hips open there and see how it gets there anyway yeah so like your worry about over here is taken care of if you do it back here okay otherwise golf’s really really hard yeah okay that was a good lesson we’re done that’s what you need to do okay yep okay so that was already better see it was still drawing it was a little higher but that was lower than the last shot and it started more online okay so kind of your indicator and this kind of goes back to like other conversations yeah so you have a grid down okay and there’s so much like hyper for focus on mechanics and not so much on intent yeah okay so if I go okay I have this target here and this is my line right there can I see your Club yeah I know when this comes down if this face is open I’m either going to stall everything out and figure out a way to shut this so some players will either back up to give themselves time to do it some players get here and they close the face this way which would be really bad yeah you have a little bit of that going on left wrist extends and it wants to go this way so you hit it really high and then you don’t get the pop on the ball so you have to actually get the spin Loft down you got to get this thing turning down okay some players already do it at the top but you’re going to actively feel this thing turn down so you can keep the right wrist bent now I know the face is closed my brain wants to rotate and lean the shaft okay and the more I do that it gets the ball starting on that green line instead of out to the right okay I guess just a follow-up question there when it’s up here and then I’m I’m start I’m like I’m on my left side now and then I’m basically doing this y am I leaving it here and then just turning yes or doing this and I’m like using my hands to kind of get there as well no just leave it there like yeah the hands will do what they do because you look that impact interval yeah is kind of like you’ve educated your hands ahead of time what that should do but you’re not actively trying to do that through the golf ball yeah cuz if you do you’re taking away something from here okay so do it all early doesn’t mean that it’s not going to happen but I can’t think about that I see okay I’m going try good better yeah again again okay and keep trying to hedge more of this to get the ball to start straighter over the green that was still a little too much push they’re drawing it’s just starting too far right gotcha but then so then that would mean like I’m when I’m turning this it’s right now I’m like going this and rotating but corre is it this and then no it’s the same input just this just more yeah you want to kind of so to answer your question you just added something to the input so the input was get this thing shut down so I can turn mhm M because it didn’t do it enough didn’t mean you did that you need to add more to to the whole equation it just means you need to do this more coming down like this just get that Twisted down that way okay good excellent keep doing it that should be the objective that started pretty straight and hooked a lot yeah bingo okay so that was proper Right started pretty straight it was half the height it was compressed and it drew like five yards yeah that’s ideal so keep that input going good it’s crazy how much better that looks keep going do that again yeah more of the same so try to double that input oh man is so high traces are there still a little bit there keep that that way it’s just like if you hit this thing left hard low hook you know you did it gotcha so overdo it I guess the way I think about that though is like just no no no no no no no you’re just doing it back here yeah yep so is this not moving at all I guess is this being so passive that it’s not even like it’s down here and then I’m like correct I’m not even moving correct okay so it’s not like yeah okay ball doesn’t know once the ball’s gone ball doesn’t know whether or not you did this or whether you did that doesn’t matter okay keep it simple yeah I guess I feel like when I’m doing this so much it’s it just goes like way down but no means you didn’t get forward and rotate oh okay yeah you just kind of hung back on it and I’m just like okay got it yeah just keep it keep it simple just do that again that input okay so come down come down here there good now weights left now pivot see how the handle’s ahead yeah so you won’t chunk it if you chunk it you’re going back you should be boom right there and I’ll give you a drill for that don’t worry it what did that do uh hook to the left great okay so let’s look at the let’s look at this okay so we’ll do a little before and after so this is kind of an important picture yeah okay so all of your concern is based around impact mine’s more concerned at P6 before impact that’s your release Point okay so your release point is essentially when the club is parallel to the ground yeah where that button of the club is is important so normally like I said your butt in the club was way over here yep okay I’m exaggerating you weren’t over there but visually tell it’s away from the ball yep so for me to get the club to the ball I have to do something with my body so I’m not going to go like this to do it yeah right I could pull the handle forward but that’s not pivoting yeah right so but now because your right wrist is bent and you’re rotating better and this is getting more there my handle gets forward and the only reason that’s happening is your left wrist isn’t extended mhm it’s actually it’s actually heading this way it’s torquing in this direction yeah okay and you need that so if I get this to happen I can get this pretty easy mhm right so if you look at this previous conversation you would come down to release point and then look where the button in the club was yeah behind your right thigh now starting to get up to your right thigh and you’re more forward see that so now there’s no light yeah it’s kind of on your right thigh now mhm now as that’s occurring you look at the old one you’d come in your left wrist would extend now here your shaft looks more forward whoops I keep doing that see how now your handle’s ahead when you’re hitting it see the wrist doesn’t flip yeah and then here it kind of the handle slows down Club passes see the space yeah that’s all a reaction yeah okay so now you can do that more so like the players that do that the most would be like a buo weekly so Boo Weekley is a very good iron player yeah Boo Weekley is like that now what’s funny is like in the golf instruction World you’d never take buo weekly sorry buo you’d never take buo weekly and go oh well that’s your golf swing but the reality is is he’s one of the best iron players that ever played yeah like he’s really good but he’s like that when he hits it yeah he’s not doing that okay so but that precursor is back here so he knows cuz he’s educated his hands on how that works so that his pivot can work cuz a lot of guys get into the the that your pivot has to be doing the right thing yeah but your pivot can’t do the right thing if you don’t have face awareness yeah it’s like a you got to match those two things up yeah I guess I’m I’m trying to figure out how to do it more and I don’t know where that feeling working at because for me I’m just like as yeah possible but well okay so let’s think about this so go to top your swing yeah I’m going to give you an undefinable answer here so that’s not the top go to the top so there’s a lot of players on tour that are up here like this with an extended left wrist in fact 95% of them are here yeah okay mhm the rest of them are Level to Bod okay okay now you’re level to Extended whatever mhm now if you came down to here yeah that wrist because it lags is that extended uh yes 100% right so if you have a lot of lag you’re going to have more extension in your wrist yeah it’s just a fact now now if the if the clubs flatter like back behind you it’s going to be less yep but none of that matters okay okay that’s just jargon yes all that matters is from here that this thing starts to shut mhm okay as much as you possibly can so see where the clubs behind you yeah and your right wrist is bent left wrist is bowed yes so now the only way for you to keep this and keep this is to Pivot your body now you got shling okay see that so look at Hogan so hog let me see your Club yep so Hogan was like this okay at the top yeah okay then he was like this and then he went like that he even had a whole chapter on it mhm so he had flexion and superation to hit the golf ball got it now he’s doing that here not here gotcha gotcha from here he’s doing all that so he can get here cuz this should be an afterthought I see but are you not suating then like or so is it just this and this or this and then right now if I pivot that face is shut where’s that ball going over there yeah now pivot keep the face Square so you’re not suating this through the ball or like through the ball it’ll do it you just you don’t you don’t think about that okay yeah this is all ball this club’s going too fast got it in fact the hands are actually slowing down at some point it’s going to go it’s going to line up okay let me yeah let me see keep the input on there there there as much as you can so Y and now pivot there now the handle’s ahead there you go okay keep it very linear very simple I’m just going to go like 5% speed yeah that’d be great and exagger right awesome I see how the wrist angles stayed this way yeah yeah that’s what you want it doesn’t seem like it now but there in that moment change the entire trajectory of my golf swing Dana knew it Ben Hogan knew it and I would soon know how this lesson is one of the biggest turning points to my progression as a golfer not only that but this lesson is just ramping up so stay until the end because what we talk about with the 3-wood and driver is a complete Game Changer but the absolute number one thing that is a game changer is going down below and subscribing and liking this video each one of you who do allows me to bring all the greatest golf coaches in the world on this channel to provide tips for all of you so please subscribe and like and if this video gets enough likes I’ll fly to a different state and drop a video with one of the greatest short game coaches of all time or did this already happen and now I’m just waiting for enough likes on this video H time will tell but until that let’s get back to the show so like it goes back to I said this before like you go to the driving range you want to be a good golfer yeah like okay you’re gonna hit a bunch of drivers three woods and you’re gonna hit a bunch of wedges not seven irons so good players don’t stand there and hit seven irons yeah they hit some longer stuff little bit and then they just wear out 150 to 100 yards now for 150 that’s probably a wedge or nine iron M and they flight them like they don’t stand there and hit seven iron six iron five iron cuz you never hit them yeah like a par three you do once in a while and maybe a longer Par Four but your the most bang for your buck is controlling your start line and your curve and your trajectory hitting a wedge MH so guys just don’t want to do that it’s like okay but that’s why you suck at golf yeah it’s like cuz you can’t control anything yeah just hitting seven irons all day long and like yeah I get a full blasted seven iron that goes straight up in the air that’s not doing me anything yeah it’s also not fixing what I need to do in my golf swing yeah right so do it again sick now wait a minute that ball went low and hooked yeah that’s a good thing let me try to keep doing it yes please I’m just going to keep asking this so at the top here landed left it’s starting to happen now yeah or like okay early as you can money okay that’s beautiful so look at the difference here so in this swing though like I’m so hyperfocused on my my this wrist or ucation hands is that aad okay for now yeah if you don’t like put Focus around that and you drift other things you never fix it yeah so like you hear you hear Bryson say things like I don’t know if you’ve ever heard him say this he may or may not have said this online or not but he does things called inputs so he tries to put an input into his his move now to him he’s really really good at golf so when he tries to do something he actually actually does it yeah he’s like okay I’m actually going to do that yeah and then if it works great if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work then he goes to the next thing yeah okay he’s an outlier yeah okay most guys go I’m going to give it an input MH they don’t even change it it’s like they think they did it but they didn’t do it the ball is kind of telling you yeah it’s like oh I hit a low ball that hooked and the handle was forward which is what you did here so look at the difference here at the part that makes the most sense to look at which is your release pointer P6 so right here this is before before and then whoops and then after me actually get those lines correct there you go now you hit 10 balls you finally got the button in the club to Mid mid uh quad right quad M so that’s telling me that the pivot is rotating right cuz that’s what I said you can’t you can’t get the butt into the club forward out here if the body is not rotating I’m not going to pull the handle ahead of the ball right I’m not going to go like this and pull the hands down yeah I’m going to have some rotation to it okay and then from here because your left wrist is bowed more the right wrist is bent more look here your handles way ahead of the golf ball now yeah right if you look at those lines in comparison that’s where your shaft’s at so that gets your spin Loft see the difference yeah that’s why that ball had it compressed and look at after the ball yikes yeah okay got it got it okay and you don’t need to worry about that you’re really hyperfocused on impact past the ball but you need the precursor to do that mhm this is just I’m self-aware of what happens after I hit the golf ball look how your hips are opening gotcha gotcha okay got it cuz it cuz now you can cuz if it was open you can’t do that okay okay and so to even double down on that again I’m especially for the people watching so I’m up here and then I’m turning this but I’m not pulling it no it’s I’m just turning it and then I’m kind of just rotating yeah so like there is a deceleration like so if this is for like the golf Geeks out there yeah this is how I cover my butt okay so um because they’re go old Dana said this or whatever okay fair there is a deceleration that goes on of your segments so you have hips rib cage lead arm left wrist that’s just kind of industry standard MH so what happens is the players rotate the lower body the upper body is separated yes from that that’s a stretch cycle and then the hips keep firing but then they start to slow everything down the left arm goes faster okay it starts to speed up and then the left wrist accelerates right so it’s like 1 2 3 4 uhhuh each segment decelerates to speed up the next segment gotcha okay yeah so you don’t just go up there and just turn to Oblivion yes like we’re not saying that y but that doesn’t mean don’t turn mhm like there’s the two factions are go to the top don’t turn it’s like well there is rotation happening yeah some players need to feel it some don’t mhm okay you do yeah but this need to needs to correspond so it allows you to do it mhm okay that’s your that’s your full input there got okay so show me yep much as you can and is it it’s not like this it’s that way keep going more more more more more y more late as much as you can yep until you’re hitting low the lowest balls you’re like Dan I need to launch the ball okay yeah okay awesome that was cool yeah do that more and then turn your hips more so it doesn’t go left and uh the sequencing you said like 1 two 3 four is it so I’m landing uhuh uhuh it’s not why I said that I said that for the armchair guys at home okay okay got didn’t mean for you to think about that like that okay good pressure needs to get left yeah I feel like for that one I don’t know why there’s like a certain feeling that I have like that one I knew was going to be bad because of somehow at the top of the back swing no no no it’s cuz your pressure wasn’t left your pressure needs to go so remember it’s pressure goes left then you’re able to do that so if you’re back on your right foot and you’re thinking about your arms and your hands look at where I’m at it ain’t going to work yeah so your brain goes what’s the path the least resistance throw the face at it mhm that’s what that was so it’s pressure left and then wrists yep okay let me try Bingo and just keep Bingo more more more yeah so the simplification is just this take it back pressure goes left first wrist angles that’s it like just keep it that redundant what’s funny is like you actually were doing this a couple weeks ago yeah probably I think it was like about a month ago like there was a lot of rain if I remember correctly yeah and I got you actually to do like a lot of these yeah remember that where pressure left first and then it kind of did a lot of that and you started getting the shaft to get forward yeah for whatever reason like that went away but because you understand your pattern hopefully mhm it’s like oh okay I do this yeah right but you cannot lose like how your hands are educated to bring the club face through yeah I when we did that I think um I could get my I could get forward like I get like a shling like this but it was like still wide open like it was like this if I think about my lower body I could get to that position but then but then the face is open then you stop doing it yeah and so like trying to think about both right now is kind of hard but well priority on the face okay awesome Bingo and then you said just keep firing this to get it Square I see it’s like when I feel this you’re overthinking it it’s like uh I get to a position here where I I I don’t feel like it’s like at a solid St state to like do this I don’t know how to explain it but overthinking a little bit so just take your back swing keep looking down good so that’s fine okay now torque the shaft coming down torque the face there you go you’re fine see you’re fine just hook balls yeah do that one one more time I already got the picture so I don’t even need to film it okay you just keep doing that money see that that’s a hard hook two in a row okay now you need 10 of those like when you’re by yourself 10 of those and then pull the hook out with your pivot that’s kind of how I want you to to to do that okay okay do one more good everything was good but the pressure yeah last one just like land there these are all good bud like I have no problem with these they’re you’re not hitting block wipe cuts that it goes straight up in the air these are good you need to like get away a little bit from like in my opinion get away from am I doing this right yeah when you go home these wedges right here yeah you wear it out M like you just stand there and hit low hook wedges and get and that’ll make it flip for you instead of like am I doing the details proper you are you’re fine the ball’s going to tell you that got you otherwise you’re just thinking too mechanical like one input pivot hit it low see like that’s stupid how good that is that’s a golf swing that’s how your golf swing should be okay now let’s try that okay now here’s why this is hard can I actually let me show you so the reason why this is harder reason why you’re doing this with driver yeah you’re only going to do drivers and you’re doing wedges for a week okay and you’re hitting hitting them low you’re going to hook this thing appropriately too yeah so no block Cuts yeah why this is harder is you have less Dynamic Loft mhm so the feeling of having shling with a driver is a pickle yeah see that yeah but because the ball’s forward and my head’s back but my pressure’s forward and the hand decelerate it will line up okay okay but I don’t want you to do this okay at all like I don’t want you to try to do that to add Loft to it okay okay so these might come out as bullets it’s just the same feeling though absolutely absolutely so let’s go back to like your feel of release point cuz cuz that’s where your process needs to be here and then it’s yeah much of don’t worry about your elbow yeah yeah don’t worry about this just just this now how how do you hit a ball from there that yeah exactly yeah go for it so driver you to set up head in the middle of your stance which is a little bit back everything the same cool now it go right yeah okay it was hit well right yeah okay so it went right because the left wrist needs more of that no different than your seven iron it kind of fired my arms way ahead well it’s normal so most people they do that they go like this and then they slow the hands down and they go so that’s like 90% of the if not more of the golfing population like this then yep so head back a little bit more there you go Bingo that’s good right I mean that’s a good shot yeah it drew yeah anything wrong with that I mean it looked good the I just felt like I went like this okay fair but was that was a low lower draw right okay focus on the ball flight more okay you like to jump into what I felt yeah it’s like no no no just keep doing the same input and disregard how you’re feeling cuz every shot is subjectively going to be slightly different okay cuz if you play golf and you have a ball above your feet yeah okay your whole golf swing is going to feel trash yeah right this isn’t normal but you still got to hit it yeah so the principle has to be the same okay okay sick balls lower yeah okay I’m going to film that you’re going to overdo it okay little drop kick yeah do it again that’s actually a good one to look at compared to the other one okay that was a deflated look on your face why I don’t know I’m just trying to figure this out too much overthinking yeah so okay watch the difference P6 P6 okay now I want you to watch coming into impact oops I do that every time every time okay so are you getting the handle more forward yeah okay how’s the wrist there then how’s the wrist here was this the last swing or which one was this was the last swing this was the first one this one was a little more cued over here yeah that’s why it went right yeah but the handle’s better yeah I guess I’m feeling like with a driver though um and this kind of happens with the long irons it’s just like you’re trying to get Loft on it that’s all yeah I just keep like look look okay I know you that you think you’re doing and there feels you’re just it’s very linear you’re trying to put Loft on the head so what you do is you come down and then you slow the hands down early and then you do this and the wrist goes like that you hit it right or you hit it straight up in the air that’s where those block Cuts come from yeah so you can’t have that like you need to work everything going as far that way and low as you can for a while like your only goal is not and this is hard to kind to compute because you want to do things thoughtfully and also you want to have things that satisfy your intellect yeah that’s what that’s what you want okay because you’re smart but you can’t play like that like you need to be like okay I’m the job is to hit low hooks okay so do everything in your power you just hit these low Hooks and just kind of like accept that if it goes over there you’re like okay I just got to do it more and do it more do it more and then pretty soon like you’ll actually change the picture but if you skate around zero like trying to make it perfect yeah you’ll have a two-way Miss now you can’t play yeah like you need to have one way it’s just going hard hook hard hook hard hook hard hook yeah and look like that’s it now there’s a lot of different ways to do that but this is the way in my opinion you should do it yeah and and just dumb it down okay don’t try to subjectively swing to swing go I feel this I feel this just hook it okay okay do that again this is the one sport where for whatever reason this is a trend they’re like oh because the ball’s not moving if the if I was throwing a ball at you you’re like I gotta hit it like you don’t have time to think about it yeah so take it back like you do land left and then just turn that thing way down early yep tremendous okay that was easy let me try that was the first time I didn’t feel like kind of just did this and then I rotated that was dead straight I’m going to move this a little bit okay yeah I’m just scared I’m like sometimes doing it wrong just so it could do I’m like I go like this but if you did that the ball would go dead left yeah so you didn’t do that yeah in the previous ones I thought I was going like this but that one I kind of just yeah keep keep keep on it okay awesome okay you can play from there all right so um pitching wedge cuz this is more important right now yeah okay you’re going to hit this thing under 30° okay so I didn’t put trackman out but it’s going to be a lot lower than you think okay so what was that same input you just did with your driver so remember the input of a wedge is not to move around too much okay so so just kind of anchor it left cuz you’re not trying to blast it right yeah and then do good wrist angles there we go just like that all right you ready yeah okay show me show me oh man okay good I’m going to try to slow down a little bit you’re fine that wasn’t bad just thin do it again yeah there we go so that’s how I want you to kind of think it’s it’s a little bit more look I go anchor my my pressure cuz I don’t need to hit this 190 yard yeah take it back wrist angle and react to it like don’t don’t overthink it good keep the pressure left and I keep it going back yep you kind of go like this you go like you you just anchor it here and Bam okay sick so if you thought about it so like that’s at 100 yards 105 right now okay that’s like a chippy pitching wedge yeah that’s hitting the green and that’s flying at the right to so if you did like 50 of those a day yeah you’re not exerting a lot of energy to do that you’re skillfully working between 75 to let’s say 115 hitting particular wedges that you’re going to use on the golf course you’re going to get way more looks for birdie if you do that yeah okay it’s not like you’re playing shinok from the from the black te’s right you’re playing every other golf course yeah so in my opinion that’s going to give you more bang for your buck and then hit this three woods and drivers so like that a good mix yeah where I can actually get this under control if you’re staying with six and five irons you’re probably going to get more of that yeah so it’s like okay like doesn’t mean we’re not going to get to that with a six iron or a five iron but you’re probably going to have more of that kicking in to get the ball in the air yeah it’s just not a good feedback loop gotcha so let’s do that again and lastly just not lastly just aerate when I’m going down here I’m just really not really doing too much with my arms I’m just kind of doing this just the wrist angles yeah basically that as much as you can okay yeah your arms are fine you saw where your right elbow is yeah it’s fine it’s perfect you don’t have to do anything it’s just the wrist angle it’s a face yeah gotcha so then in that case though I’m like this here and rotating and it’s going to come out like this yeah it’ll come out like that versus yeah you’re not doing that you don’t want it okay you don’t want to kind of do that but don’t worry about that okay sick pretty hard though tried to smash that a little bit Yeah out of anger yeah you’re fine nothing to be angry about all right yeah I know what I did you’re fine yeah so Jerome like as far as I’m concerned like this is pretty simplistic yeah this should match a 20 yard pitch shot to your driver yeah the same intent beautiful okay let me hit a couple more so I I asked you a question earlier like where does your frustration come from I think um and I everyone tells me obviously golf’s development is in linear and like I guess last couple weeks I felt like I wasn’t as good as I wanted to be okay and I feel like yeah putting so much time and effort and I’m just like sometimes com going back but so like this is a a really dumb answer to that but I I’ll dish it so like in those lows that’s where you learn yeah you don’t learn in the highs like Oh Yeah I broke 80 I broke 75 I broke 70 it’s like those are outcomes from all the struggle that you had prior yeah Okay the reason why most people don’t get better is they don’t go into those struggles they kind of remain comfortable mhm like and you and what I’m watching is your every human being is like this are trying to be comfortable yeah well comfortable doesn’t create any change yeah so you need to be uncomfortable so that you learn to know what it feels like to hit the ball properly mhm that’s that’s the biggest piece now the frustration comes from where though cuz you didn’t really answer it you kind of did but you didn’t maybe because of General expectations I think sometime like correct yeah yeah so it comes from like outcome yeah like you want you want to create an out MH so creating outcome in other things like if you do the dishes put them in the dishwasher run them put them away there’s no more dishes great sounds good yeah right but that’s just a task yeah you have to run a very complex machine to a a foreign thing that you’re not used to and it’s not like you were playing since you were four yeah so you have to kind of learn these new deals yeah you know every amateur golfer that’s like a 15 to 30 six handicap maybe didn’t play in high school or college yeah they need to figure that out mhm you know they’re searching for like it’s kind of like a bass fisherman with a lure right throw that thing at them and they a that’s that’s the thing I’m going to do and that’s how golf instruction is I’m going to do that yeah like okay maybe not like here’s standard do standard keep it simple got small victories so just to kind of recap basically all I’m going to be trying is get up here and then I’m landing on my left and then I’m pivoting and just kind of just turning this down as much as you freaking can until you’re hitting the lowest hot balls that you can get good dead straight see now you pivot so your hips are fine okay got it got it good technique was good one more that’s why you need a lot of wedges get that stabilization back yeah perfect okay we got that yeah yeah got it uh yes can I do uh like two more with the driver sure I don’t care just want to feel it again same same yeah same same uh te it up away from the shaft though does see you have room oh uh just go over here yeah right there there you go yep that was good yeah so that was good it was low as hooking yeah pivot oh man highe on the face do it again one more time you get to do three not two okay very good towed it a little bit but that was good okay how many of those sliced zero zero okay just keep doing that uh a lot yeah a lot and again just to kind of iterate here in order for it to not go to there it’s just the pivot just a hip turn yeah like way earlier too is that what it is basically I wouldn’t say earlier just more just just just turn it because like right now it seems like when I’m turning I’m just like this so would it be like like that yeah it’s going to lead okay yeah but it’ll it’ll only lead if the face gets good if the face gets open you will not lead so like when you started yeah today you were like literally square with an iron like your hips weren’t open everything kind of lined up and your left wrist went like this yeah for whatever reason doesn’t matter yep now it’s getting here and all of a sudden you start looking like that yeah this is still leading cuz pressure got left first yeah and that’s it like don’t add to that Spectrum keep that Spectrum the same it’s like wrist angle pressure forward pivot and then last thing is like yesterday we were talking about constraints mhm like P6 and that’s your constraint yeah the p8 one mhm is just a reaction to having a good P6 and it’s it’s not he here no no no no it’s here just leave it alone yeah there like that you’ll be fine okay one last one don’t add to it no you’re good that’s what you’re working on okay and hit more of hit more of these things hit more wedes can I show you one 3w yeah it’s the same as your driver that Center hit or healed uh heal okay good drawing balls now do one more that was fine you showed up with like a push cut high ball now you’re hitting yeah the the last lesson before this right we were just getting this but I couldn’t figure out how to I could like get to the picture of like getting a handle ahead well you’re really worried about impact and then that’s not a good place yeah you want to worry about prior to impact not impact impacts so fast you don’t even want to think about it just put whatever input early beforehand and it does it awesome that was cool right yeah that was low hook hips were a little late but that was fine your 3-wood is probably the most important Club of your long clubs because it’s barely teed up yeah and there’s no room for air so like your three-wood you should get good at yeah you can hit a three-wood driver’s cake walk okay okay driver is the easiest Club in your bag to hit okay got it so basically until next time I just focus on that and then if it seems like it’s okay maybe like do it more I want you to come back I’m hooking it and hitting it too far okay got it don’t even worry about B low hooking and it’s going a mile okay got okay that’s what I want it’s Daniel I’m hitting my seven iron too far okay sounds good turning it into a freaking five iron okay gotcha gotta and don’t worry about the hips or anything no your hips react okay got it okay yeah you start worrying about your hips that’s a good way to suck a golf yeah but the okay got it okay if I’m worrying about how this is doing it you just drive it yeah like don’t think about it don’t worry about hinges and side bends and all that kind of stuff like that’s a good way to especially for you it’s a good way to pull the athlete out of the the pitcher yeah you know like you could say it to somebody who’s like doesn’t know what what blue is when they look at the sky but um for you like you’re too smart so you start to think about those things you need to just go okay my input is this and that that’s it yeah I know it’s tough cuz like on the course and this is like how I’m being like a generally programmed it’s like I’m just like okay I’m going to like all my shots I didn’t even think about in like Unison it’s like this this this this this you can’t do that there’s got to be some flow to it yeah you’re like okay I go on the course I step on the first T what’s my input it’s this and this I hit it no matter what it does I do not change it for 18 holes okay got it okay cuz like I’ve said in the past an amateur will go on the golf course try it for two holes and then try something else try something else try something else and then come back and say well I was trying this on the six hole I found it then I lost it on 14 I’m like what did you try and they’re like I tried this I go you didn’t actually do that like you think you did that yeah why didn’t you just do what you’re doing from your lesson and be uncomfortable and keep doing it till it becomes comfortable yeah like that’s how you want to do it just keep it like simple it’s that boom okay okay cool easy hit your irons like Boo weekly gotcha that’s the whole summary of this lesson guys yeah hit your irons like Boo Weekley hey Jerome here hope you love that video this in my opinion was one of the most important videos to my progression as a golfer but the follow-up video to this one is even crazier so definitely stay tuned but until then check out this video down below YouTube recommended this one specifically to share with you they said you would love it all right I’ll see you there

So glad I found this!!!
I love how honest Dana is about over thinking. And stopping Jerome from getting in his own way.
40:00 Such good golf and life advice being dished out right here.
Great video! Exactly what I needed. Thank you for posting these
Hey Jerome keep at it, because not to jump the gun, but when you get old, golf is like the apotheosis of cool.
The other day some guy I never met told me, he was told I was a legend, when we got paired up, though I did not play like one, until the back nine.
Hold your finish, in balance, for a few seconds.
Wow Jerome, your game has come so far. Great swing! I like the explanation
Dana has the patience of a saint to keep redirecting you when you won’t just listen to him and the point he’s trying to get across
I don't like the new vfx for the text, like at 45:46, where the S2 LESSON CHECKLIST text bumps up and the S becomes the backdrop to the list. I like the idea of displaying the information, just not the way it was done, it' takes up to much of the screen and distracts from the video. I think I preferred the previous way you did it, tho I can't remember the specifics of how you used to do it.
Great video tho! Fantastic info in this one.
Can't thank you enough for sharing your journey and instruction with us. 🙂
Another banger! Also- petition to get Jerome more than 1 shirt, feel like we always see him wearing his blue outfit 😂
Great video man! 👏
Love how the pro dumbed it down to 2 swing thoughts. ✅
The content is worth enduring the cringe thumbnails. One of the best golf channels on here. Keep it up!
love the coach
Uncle Dana serving up life lessons. You're in good hands, Jerome.
K but he didn’t explain what to do after you get the hook to be natural .
How do you bring it back to straight after that??
Thanks Jerome for sharing you have a lot of supporter♥
Excellent coaching right there.
This was a really great video for me. Keep working and improving. You're killing it!
You have single handedly made dana the most patient coach. Hahahaha… love your channel but you are waaaay to into your " feels" haha so 2024 hahaha… great improvement though
He lost me when he said “Heigth.” Its Height!!!!!
Jerome, you are trying to feel too many things and trying to breakdown the moving parts during the downswing. DD is telling you the main input, and if executed well, your pivot will respond naturally. No need to feel everything. Just follow input and and pivot will happen.
This video deals with the exact thing ive been thinking about with no concepts to apply. Great video
I struggle to hit 5 decent shots out of 50!! Them when I hit a good shot I don’t know what the heck I did different from the bad shots!!🤦♂️ Golf is hard man!!
Those are definitely the keys to ball striking. What's interesting is that you are coming full circle back to Mike Wydra's ONE DRILL video concerning the proper wrist delivery of the club into the ball (there's a punch shot in every golf shot). Mike does it differently because he drops down steeply in the downswing and then gets the wrists in the right position to get the natural draw and power produced by hands ahead, lead wrist in flexion. This shows that there is more than one way to get there but the effect through impact is the same. As Mike explained, these wrist positions get the hands ahead at impact, the club workting inside out, and the club descending into impact (for an iron), with the face squaring to the arc all through this one mechanism. It's pure magic for the golf swing! It is also one of the biggest keys to effortless power. I am very happy to see this coming into your swing, Jerome. Cheers.
This video was absolutely everything Jerome!! Thank you so much for what you are doing. Thank you for giving back to the game by sharing this with us! You da man 🙏🫡
Great videos! One suggestion: can you use 1 line at the bottom for your transition comments? T full list blocks the video.
Nobody:
Jerome: should I do like this?
Dana: yes, exactly
Jerome: but what if I do it like this
Dana: 🤔
Kinda frustrating to watch the coach simplify things as much as possible, and Jerome trying to make it as complicated as possible.
Burh, you learned all of this over a year ago. Coach Wydra had you doing this through the entire lesson (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHeKCzLPbR0&t=473s).
Coach Dana makes this amazingly simple. He says to practice hitting it straight and hook it low drawing left. Obviously one can’t play that way. Implied that’s a drill and more to come.
Where does coach explain how to fix low hook? Is it just more lateral hip shift and turn hips more?
Sounded like he was gonna do a lesson on helping straighten this big hook out.
Cheers

driver is easy? I love my 3 wood, driver is terrible. I cant hit up to save my life.
Definitely a video full of gold.
Get comfortable being uncomfortable 💯
27:43 "Pull the hook out with your pivot."
I needed to hear that.
yeah you think to much dude. and don't confirm all the words he is saying. listen and act. sssssssttt and smile
I can't watch these often because you don't just listen and enact, you always have to question and suggest, just do what the man says.
I hate coaches like this. Showing us line angles and slot lines, showing us picture of Pros. Bro, I am not a pro. Coaches that work with ones swing / game / tempo – those are the coaches amateurs should see
Having a stronger grip i think helps with not having to bow too much, can have a more neutral wrist thay way
This quite possibly may be the best lesson I've seen on YouTube. Ive applied the principles over the past 3 days and its solved several issues. One thing Jerome Keep It Simple!
Once you start manipulating the club face, the ball can go anywhere.
In my humble opinion, the key to good golf wise in the Medicus swing trainer. Once you understand how that hinge works in the shaft, you can figure out what you have to do with your hands and wrists. naturally, every instructor has their own idea of how to swing so no disrespect to this instructor. Here’s a little hint. You don’t ever swing across your body. Your right arm goes up and down in line with the outside of your right pelvis while your upper body turns back and all the way through to the left. It’s two completely separate movements synchronized into One golf swing. Manipulate the face and you will find yourself in the trees on the right or the water on the left at the worst possible time.
Well, i just got back from the range. No trouble moving the ball left and yes driver trajectory is better when it is timed up. To me it seems i now have a major sequence problem to get the ball down the middle. I cant play with this.
the left wrist (right wrist for lefties) / wrist roll emphasis before coming around and rotating through emphasis has helped me a lot with better shaft lean and contact giving more distance too
