Eliminating Middle Confusion in Doubles – Gigi Fernandez at Tennis Congress

17-time Grand Slam Doubles Champion and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Gigi Fernandez explains how you and your partner can avoid confusion about “whose ball it is” at the net.

The key, Gigi explains, is “staggering” –with one of you slightly ahead of the other at all times, depending on which half of your opponent’s court the ball is in. The player closest to the net has the first right to the ball, while the partner staggered behind protects anything that gets through and lobs.
