you I just don’t want to see Boston win anybody but Boston so let’s go next oh let me ask you this question I mean let let’s stick on basketball for just a few seconds here because you know I’m here to talk about you know this bowl game that you got associated with Snoop Dog Jenner juice Dr Dre the ho now we gonna get into that in a little bit but you brought up your Lakers first I didn’t do that what the hell happened to them man well I mean five games Denver took him out I mean they didn’t get swapped like they did in the Conference finals last year but damn they didn’t get out of the first round this year I’m going tell you what we did we softened them up for the Timberwolves and if you watching you can pay attention to what I’m saying we showed all they loopholes all they weaknesses and we didn’t have the height to deal with them and we didn’t have the the young gangster to deal with them now they up against somebody that’s not afraid that don’t know nothing about nothing but we just going to kill everything in front of us I like a I love how he get down we didn’t have that we had the makings of and we had spurts of it we had to leave we was up by 20 and we lost that’s right they beat us two games with last second shots so that let you know that we wasn’t bad and we wasn’t far off we just didn’t have that killer instinct that the timber wolves got when they get up they kill we let people come back how you feel about doin ham getting fired I don’t think it was his fault but at the same time it’s like you know the organization I trust in Genie I know she does what’s best for the organization and at the end of the day that’s what what what the results has got to be we we used to winning championships we’re not used to being knocked out in the first round barely getting in the playoffs like it’s a it’s a certain you know level of attention and detail that we have when it comes to Lakers and as a fan she knows that you know as fans we really depend on her and them to make the Right Moves and no Championship no job I got nothing bad to say about Anthony Davis and LeBron James LeBron James 39 years of age 21st season he’s approaching I mean this brother is something special there ain’t no denying that ad played 76 games this year that’s the first time he’s done that pretty much in his career he B out and he Bal out I didn’t say nothing bad about him on Instagram I usually say a little something about him but this year I had give him all due respect cuz he played his ass off he showed up he showed out you know he came to play you know he didn’t have all those injuries he didn’t had those street clothes on Charles you got to give him a new name now stop with all thaty he can’t call Street cloes can’t call him that no more Chuck he showed up but the rest of these cats did not as far as I’m concerned but that’s why I think that bringing in the right coach who knows how to go find that young Talent this this league is Young it’s always been a young league the veterans could get it to a certain level then there always a young somebody or young team that come and knock him off and it just feel like this year it’s going to be a bunch of young teams playing for that ship CU on the west is set up like that already all of them teams over there is Young everybody the Nuggets don’t they the Nuggets is Young if you ask me they not all right and then on the East what you got the Knicks got the Pacers you got Milwaukee Boston and Cleveland just hit theeland Donovan put something on him put something on him but I’m I’m looking at your law Lakers and I’m just saying to myself look I don’t know what you can do because I do you can clear that locker room out that’s what I’m saying that’s the first thing you can do get rid of them players get rid of the ones that’s not the ones and find you some Shooters if we going to have a three-point offense that we running we have to have three-point Shooters when we had that team with Danny Green Rondo and Dwight Howard and all them we had Shooters and we had big man and we had a point guard you gave up half of them for Russell Westbrook Kyle kosman okay k Carwell Pope who won a championship with Denver last year he on that Squad this year Alex kuso walked away in free agency went to Chicago that’s what you gave away for Russell West hey man sometimes the cars don’t fall where they should you know it’s like no no disrespect to nobody with that situation it just didn’t fit like I don’t think we had the right coaching to right anything when it came to that cuz you got to know how to coach Talent one thing about great coaching you can have all the talent in the world but if you don’t know how to coach it then you just just wasting time sometimes you got to have a coach that can coach all that talent look at Phil Jackson when he had the talent what he was able to do look at certain coaches that you give him I like the coach from the Nuggets I came frontone he cocky as [ __ ] I like him right thought he should have got thrown out the other day game two cuz any other referee that you running their face and cussing them out like that but then again I had to think I said oh no this referee saying to hisself I’m going to let you take this you going to take this no no no he said it to his face I mean he wasn’t thinking it he was talking [ __ ] to him he was like get out my face take the I thought I heard him say take this ass with but I’m not sure okay it felt like it felt like that’s why he didn’t do it he was like you you trying to run to the locker room and get out of here n you going to take all of this I ain’t throwing you out no and then the the Murray thing that right there threw me for a loop yeah I got to bring it up because Patrick Beverly throw a basketball they give him four games that’s right he throw a tow then he throw the other thing which could have caused injury he heat raer yeah come on man you got to give him one game $100,000 don’t mean nothing to a man that’s making 50 million I agree but how would you feel if Minnesota and Denver going up against one another tonight in game three and Denver’s on the verge of getting swept and what you do is you compromise them because you take out their Sharpshooter you’re not compromising he he compromised himself when he did that this the NBA these rules been here for a long time you can’t throw nothing on the court and get fed you supposed to get suspended ejected one of the two it has nothing to do with the game what what type of game if it’s the finals if it’s the last game your behavior is your behavior if it was if it was Draymond Green what would have happened he got he would have got suspended for how many games a couple who at least a couple okay well the playoffs to one game regular season at least a couple see you can’t judge it like that it’s like when the when the Super Bowl when ju guu got pulled right man that they shouldn’t have called the flag at that time he shouldn’t held him right a a call is a call now I’ll say this about the referees they make a lot of bad calls and a lot of Miss calls that what are we going to do about that how do we fix that at the end of the game when they showing you the two-minute report and all the mistakes they made what’s going to happen to them for that because the two-minute report don’t mean a damn thing it don’t cuz you ain’t doing anything it’s not like you retroactively punishing them for messing up a call or whatever I mean you stuck with it so that’s a problem they should just get rid of that cuz that’s just making them look weaker now you’re my brother and you know I got love for you and I don’t mean to depress you I care about you but I got to ask this question you know Anthony Edwards is in the West M Luca donic is in the west right Kyrie Irvin is in the west they are Denver still in the west they sent the Lakers home two years in a row I mean when you look a Sacramento hell beat y’all four times in a row the regular season every everywh I’m look everywhere I’m look Oklahoma City you see them young thorough breads we beat them 3-1 I’m saying I guess what I’m asking Snoop is that how hopeful are you for the future to Los Angeles L is considering what’s lying in their path in the Western Conference I’m hopeful if we can get us a Klay Thompson see get us that’s what you’re trying to do you’re trying to get clay I knew it I knew when you told me you had something to tell me I knew you kept that [ __ ] from me that’s who you trying to get well his daddy is Michael he works for the players playing the game no matter what you play at if you play at the Rucker you play at the park if the game is a game you got referees and it’s organized it’s a game so we win that championship and naturally we want more that’s right because that’s what we want you ain’t getting all time soon know that [ __ ] right so he gives us the title that he takes from Kareem the scoring title we can live with that then he gives us the little preseason title we can live with that we taking all see we taking all that [ __ ] everything matters so if the Knicks were the one that you wouldn’t be happy I’d Young and then I think about Caitlyn with the wi basketball when I was watching the NCAA I was watching men’s and women and both she was doing thing she was doing Caitlyn Clark doing that thing basketball but but not enough to knock off South Carolina and D Staley you know Staley got them dogs she got them she got them dogs she got them that that that’s what it’s all about right they beat me 11 is a monster he hard to deal with so you think Jaylen Brunson is gonna carry the New York Knicks to the finals I watched Steph Curry do the same thing same low point guard moving around dipping dodging shaking and baking they didn’t think he could do it he did that look man don’t get my hopes up bro I’m just telling you what I seen I seen I didn’t believe it when I seen Steph do it I watched him play but Steph pulling up from 40 but I’m saying when it happened it happened right we was watching it happen just like you watching it happen with your team right now you watching how he’s being in this field I just know that I love sports and NBC and they recognizing that and they want to make it a little bit more more Hipp or they want to make people like us pay attention to it and they want to make people understand that the Olympics is for everybody it’s not just a situation where it’s been always categorized as you hear it this way you see it this way now we’re going to give it to you a little bit different this year they got to they invested $7.8 billion over the next several years how much is that am I getting can’t be saying them kind of numbers Ste without me I’m I’m because you cover in Olympic that you going get to be somebody other than Snoop Dog and [ __ ] and you ain’t going to be able to do that you still Snoop they you ain’t going to be able to going grandfather that we got a bowl of candy in the front and they don’t let my granddaughter eat candy when she come over here I take like nine lollipops walk her in the back give her one and I say put another one up later give her another one and she go out to her face stick here Mom like what you been doing I was with Papa Snoop was did he give you candy uhuh and I give her another one like I love that relationship that I got with my grandkids my grandson and my granddaughters like they don’t look at me like every other kid look at me they look at me like their grandfather and I love that cuz that keeps me rooted did you feel that way or rather how different than that feel does that feel rather to being parent being a dad instead of a grandpa well I don’t have to watch him seven days a week 247 um the time that I get with them is precious and it’s like I get to analyze my parental skills with my grandkids the the mistakes I made with my kids I try to like not make with my grandkids like to be a little bit more attention and detail with them like I wasn’t with my kids cuz I was so busy doing shows traveling this and that with my grandkids is like I really sit down with them and I watch programs with them and I play with them and I talk with them and really get a chance to understand them so that way when they grow older they’ll have those memories of my grandpa spent time with me do you ever find yourself tempted or have you ever actually really really sat down in a defensive posture when you’re talking to your children and explaining to them over time I was doing all of this for you I was out there on the grind I was out there touring I was out there making this money creating these opportunities to make sure that you have better life I asked that question to be honest with you on a personal level as a dad or two daughters I sit up there and I’m like I’m Unapologetic about being on my grind and working my ass off to make sure that they never have to experience the life that I have but I also find myself praying man I hope they see my intent I hope they appreciate what I’m trying to do as opposed to resenting dad for sometimes not being around the key to to that is communication though Stephen right you didn’t raise no um no people that read minds right you you raise people that communicate so you should communicate that yeah when I didn’t communicate that it was issues why you always gone why you always this then I had to sit them down and tell them this is why I’m gone so that way you can have this that’s why you have this that’s why you’re able to go to this school that’s why when you need something you never have to work that’s why this is this I said would you like me to stay home every day all day where we don’t have nothing we trying to figure it out we don’t have nothing to eat nothing do it made sense to them then how old were they when you made that 20 something you say that when they were teenag you say when they young none of that [ __ ] I got [ __ ] to do and I got way more customers before I get to you right simple and plain because that was my job as a provider because I was learning as a young man I didn’t know how to be a man I didn’t know how to be a leader a father I was learning on the job so my my main focus was to be a provider because the men in my family provided for the women they provided they were you know go-getters so I follow their lead as far as like my wife ain’t never work today in her life and I’m proud of that you know what I’m saying because I feel like that’s my job to make sure that you covered on every aspect of finances spiritual mental sexual whatever it is that that’s my job to cover that for you so that way when I’m walking through this crazy world I got stability to come home to to keep me sane and to keep me on the right path how do you feel about men in this day and age who would have a completely different approach they’d be like yo hell with paying all them damn bills hell with that I work she got to work I’m paying bill she got to pay bill bump all of that [ __ ] I ain’t trying to have I ain’t trying to do everything like that that’s how you hear a lot of men talking in this day not all not most but a lot how do you feel what do you say to men that have an entirely different attitude than somebody like you or myself when it comes to that approach I can’t say nothing it’s all about your upbringing it’s who you are be the best version of you you know what I’m saying and you’ll find somebody that will go half with you and love that 50-50 relationship what Teddy pent grass say talking about a 5050 love so you can play that game with somebody like that or you could just do what you supposed to do as a man and provide for the woman that’s taking care of you and making sure that you’re all right cuz it’s going to come a time when you in a relationship where one of y’all may not be as strong as the other one of y’all may need the other more than more more than the other and that’s when it balances out it’s not always about finances it’s about the love and the care and the being there for somebody because I don’t make money to make money I make money to make a difference speaking of that making money to make a difference that’s a perfect transition in my estimation anyway to what I’m about to bring up right now Snoop Dog happened it happened due to me being a football coach uh Snoop Youth Football League yes have my own league and then the kids that came through my league that went on to play great High School football college football NFL football and just my Association and affiliation with with the game and and I feel like college football is in a place right now where they trying to like show that they’re not the bad guys cuz for many years they’ve been the bad guys you know with the money yep with the nil with the taking Heisman back and the Banning teams and all the stuff that was associated with them and like why y’all make all the money but when we try to make the money it’s a problem so I feel like now what they’re doing is opening up the gateways to people like myself and people that can bring some flavor and show that this is a business but it’s a business of running it the right way and they know that my football league and the players that come out of my league are run the right way so it made sense for me to connect with a bowl game because I’m so tied into college football and a bowl game that’s so close to my heart because I’ve always did games in Arizona with my youth leagues playing against teams from out there so it just made sense and the brand that we got can sponsor it and support it so we just looking forward to just trying to do different things and bigger things and think outside of the box and not just be regular basic oh I’m a rapper and my when my career is over with I’m this no I want to think outside the box so that way when that young person is at home watching me he could do anything he can translate into any you know form of business that he wants to just from watching me do it I have no college degree I ain’t never went to No Business Schools none of that [ __ ] this is straight observing learning watching listening and taking it and making it MTH well you did go to school you just didn’t pay an institution to do it you went to school you went to school school that’s what it is you know but but Jin and juice alcohol being associated with a Bame that’s not something the NCAA has ever done before ever done before so I want you to paint a picture for the public out there take us to when you went because I know it’s was going to require you I know how they think ain’t no way in hell they just look you got a great team you got a great great team okay but I know good and damn well it wasn’t just your team that had to talk to them at some point in time they needed to see and hear from the man himself Snoop Dog if for nothing else to fall over you going get your damn autograph okay nothing else for that take me to that moment where you had to speak to these people cuz I know that happened man you know what’s business is handled in a professional manner it’s like they don’t need me to they need me they need me to come in and add the spices and see what their whole week will look like and what will trophy you see a bowl game you would see two teams they would go eat together and they would go to Disneyland or wherever whatever amusement park was in that City they would go there and like that kind of experience what are we going to give them that they can feel like I want to play in that ball game even even if I go to Alabama SE or whatever that’s the bowl game I want to play I feel like I’m going to bring that to the table to where this bowl game is going to be so exciting that teams may lose some games to try to get in this bowl game damn it’s gonna be like that that means you gonna have an event you gonna turn it into an event a big ass party that’s what it’s going to be if we get some big name teams up here that’ll change the game you never know man I’m looking at this right now and I know that you care not just about the game but your primary objective is the kids and the wellbeing of the kids that’s what you’ve always been about that’s why you got involved with your youth football league and and everything else that you’ve done in the aftermath of all of that how concerned are you about the state of college sports in light of the transfer portal the nil Etc and how much of a role did that play in you wanting to get involved with this and having your name attached to a PO game as big as it is I think that makes the game better when you got kids able to move like coaches it’s fair now right it wasn’t fair when Stephen A recruits me and I come play for Stephen A and then we have a bad season and then next year Stephen A don’t even talk to me but he got a job at this other college getting $100 million and I got to be stuck here with this new coach that don’t know me now I’m sitting on the bench why didn’t we have the abilities to move like they moved they was what you dealing with a grown man now instead of a boy and now you’re training me for the NFL because now I know how to handle money I’m learning financial literacy some things that I didn’t know when I got to the league 10 years ago and I got this $20 million check and I went and bought my mom house and my sister this and that and that now I’m broke and I broke my leg and I can’t make no money and the other money ain’t guaranteed cuz I didn’t have financial literacy now what the NCAA is teaching you’re handling money you have responsibility oh there’s a guy named Uncle Sam he’s going to come out of nowhere so and the more money you make he’s going to really show up so all of these things are being taught now so that’s the blessing of this move with the NCA I look at the positive things of the financial literacy because my son was playing football and he stopped playing and everybody was like man why he ain’t playing he could have been a five star this and that but his business right now is 10 star wow because he’s doing business he’s doing moves and all sorts of things and there’s a lot of players that play with him who don’t play anymore and don’t know what to do with their lives because life after ball is serious so this money game that they teaching is preparing them for life after ball because some of these guys will have a career in modeling and marketing branding when their football careers are over with and that’s still a check that’s coming in it’s still some form of business what they don’t depend on if I’m going make the team if I’m going make the roster now it’s a different mindset with this money what are your thoughts about coaches like Nick sain who’s now retired at Alabama dbo Sweeney who’s still at Clemson and various other coaches and stuff who’ve been outspoken about the Advent of all of these things how it’s changed the landscape of college Sports and how they believe it’s the detriment to the sport they have an opposite position of what I’m my my speculation and I’m just speculating MH they mad cuz they ain’t the only ones paying them off no more he used to be them the only ones that was paying them off it was no accident while the kids was going to them schools they was doing the big Payola and now to get the bag is is open and everybody can do it they’re threatened and they’re not winning anymore isn’t that crazy you’re not winning anymore because you don’t have the master key to I got all the money all the power kids from California flying all the way to your University when SC right down the street oh but SE ain’t because you got a phone and you got social media and different platforms so you just got to continue to be you and know that who you are is going to be who you are and whatever they say about you if it’s true it’s true if it’s not you got to keep doing what you do and with that being said so you talk about not being worried about anything and that’s cool the flip side to it there’s an awful lot of people that find themselves worried about a lot of things going on in this world I believe it’s because if you don’t have yourself knowledgeable about your business you going to be lost right it happened to me when I got Leto in 2009 I didn’t have a I didn’t have a backup plan I didn’t have a game plan cuz I wasn’t knowledgeable about my business let me go now I think it’d be a little bit case he was saying hey Shaq he want to be that that Alpha he want to be he don’t like big men he’s always critiquing them I’m paraphrasing of course because I don’t have the quote right in front of me and in the case of Shannon sharp said it’s about MVPs it’s about MVPs because he know Shaq should have had more than one and then Shaq came out with the Dis Track I don’t know if we could play it for Denver because I think Denver’s on the verge of being swept I hope I’m wrong because the longer series goes the more riveting it is I just don’t see it happening Saw Oklahoma City lose to Dallas I think that series gonna go seven games I think Minnesota’s going to sweep Denver even though I think think Oklahoma civity will win this series if it goes seven games Kyrie Irving in the game seven with Luca Lord have mercy I’ll be worried for OKC and in the Eastern Conference Donovan Mitchell is showing himself to be that dude that dude that I wanted on the New York Nicks by the way with Jaylen Brunson not instead of him but again I digress we’ll see what happens New York Knicks we see whether the Boston Celtics going to step up and start handling their business outside of that I want y’all
