[Music] the Music City is all about [Music] Rhythm Nashville is defined by a legendary music scene that boasts the dawn of rising stars at the smallest Honky Tonk [Music] bars and as this tour rides into town we find ourselves tapping along to a new tune that’s growing into much more than just a one hit wonder nichas Anthony [Applause] [Music] morilla and while the youth movement is currently topping the charts you can never count out the classes this course is our stage each throw a performance set to the unique rhythm of flight with the latest headlining show Just One Stop away the 2024 Music City open starts [Music] now hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to round one front n coverage of the 2024 Music City open stop number six on the disc golf pro tour season big germ Paul uberry big berry commentary going to bring you all the action this week once again yeah we’re at the Music City open this place is uh known for being a little swirly in the winds MH bad weather yeah but today we might have a lull in both of those things a little a little sprinkly here and there some some winds are going left or right a little bit but uh this guy Ben Callaway coming off of a heater last weekend had a chance to had a chance to win the tournament came up a little bit short but I’m excited to see him come and play on this featured card it’s exciting to see Chris Dickerson he’s vulnerable on the internet this week about an issue that he got back from the doctors regarding his hip and he is out here competing and he’s going to be out here competing for rest I mean he’s he’s good yeah but he’s just he just got some information he didn’t want to get and but he is a Tennessee Titan he’s going to be out here kicking some butt this week and you know that’s the case Jake Heimer he’s been playing really good this season kind of having a silently good season exciting to see him here on JZ and of course fan favorite and music City’s favorite last year’s defending Champion Simon lazat trying to compete for another Gibson custom guitar which is the trophy this week coolest trophies on tour arguably who wouldn’t want one of those right hole one par 3 308 ft left to right Bender put it on a little Flex get it over to that right side and flex ex it back into the circle or I’ve seen some sidearm flip UPS if you’re Lefty you want to throw like a fairway driver that just barely flips up and maybe gets to the right side of the green give yourself a little 30 footer it’s more uphill than it appears on camera it’s the first thing that my caddy said to me this morning he like man I you just never know what the slope really is until you get to the course very true one of the tough things in this hole is the ground play see if Simon is able to figure that out it looks like he yeah that played with the ground quick after it hit the branch looked like it could have gone in the hole if it misses that on the going to leave him short Benjamin I also heard that uh Simon has played this tournament twice two wins so not just last year but wow 2015 champ okay wow that’s a cool stat and out here looking sharp as always first t- shot dull up to the give it up for Jake Heimer did you see the story this week with Jake Heimer and the snake that was in his travel van no well he first off he put it in there and then he lost it oh no yes and uh that’s the ground play we’re talking talking about here is that a tree or the ground I you you never know it kind of looked like it could have been either lost a snake if that’s not the most Tennessee thing I’ve ever I’ve ever heard it’s the most Jake Heimer thing I’ve ever heard it he eventually gets it out uh and you know on his way out it bites him in the ankle and he just kind of laughs it off I asked him about it afterwards how many times you been been bit by a snake he said oh I don’t know hundreds so even heimer’s the man you want around if you got a snake problem Chris having a ceiling issue as well left to throw the approach that’s hilarious because I feel like if you’re getting bit hundreds of times you you’re probably not good with snakes like I’ve never I don’t think I’ve ever been bit by a snake I guess I’m great with snakes incredible snake guy Ben cway from the knee a great shot yeah Dickerson left a little bit um on that you can see the ground play when you get to the right side those rocks can really affect it here’s Simon looks like just outside Circle two oh cash that’s good perfect height wow came in slow too and that is that’s a great angle cuz that is far on the strike he shoots I was going to say he putts like he’s shooting half court sh shots where he gives it a nice Arc and it’s just it’s just got a really nice touch to it Jake with a little step Hut that’s going to come up short left now to save par pretty y see that’s the Smooth release that Chris had when he was winning tour championships winning the uscgc Champions Cup once it gets a little wobble in there worry just a little bit even though he still makes them but I feel like that stroke right there Works deep you know you remember when he never used to miss a 35-footer ever sure since the era of him winning the majors that he won uh he was at a 50% alltime winning clip he is now underneath that still 159 career wins out of 343 events so Chris Dickerson’s I mean that’s nearly 50% he’s doing pretty good yeah he he knows how to how to win there’s no doubt about that on to Hole two downhill Par 3 375 ft the Drone is a little off course here this is a route but you can see here it is a lot more difficult with the low hanging branches the limbs into the flight path to this elevated basket now there is OB on the right side but more commonly seen down the left side because most players are going to be shaping the forehand Illustrated here perfectly with Simon I like the low effort but that’s Annie and this digs into the ground yeah if that gets a forward skip I fear he finds that OB long two different ways to play the forehand you get the low skill and you got the high Stall oh this looks like the want and it’s going to get a good first Skip and sit there right at the circle’s Edge that’s a good shot yeah I feel like that’s what you get with the low with the low shot it’s hard to get it to go all the way to the hole if you park this hole then you were within a foot or two of going OB long that’s the way it works this one’s early but if it catches and gets through all that crud it does yeah that would be the only other way to avoid OB to just have it straight instead of going overstable looked like Jake kind of got the forehand to flip up straight a little bit and that’s why he got the great result and you can’t ah this is too much you can’t really see oh fight fight yeah decent result you can’t really see though on the right side there’s a bunch of little little tiny Limbs and trees that Jake got through see if you can see them now yeah he kind of yep you see what I mean like he got he got through that stuff I think yeah you’re definitely bringing that that into play by going for the straight shot all right Chris is going to go high on this one with a little Annie yep yeah that was that was a nogo that was a noo this will be full send from Ben and left side low gotta love those good Pace that’s why those go in good Pace yep that’s thrown harder it could it’s not going it jump out right the soft Pace allows the disc just to die on impact with the chains and a nice birdie for Jake and tappins for both Simon and Chris now Chris the only player without a birdie in the first two [Music] but I feel like both of those holes although they’re right there in front of you they feel like a good get so I think one under is a great Pace only eight players in the field able to get the first two holes it’s a lot yeah it is actually cuz those those are both not bonuses but near bonuses moving on to whole three about 315 ft to the ob line and all this area here that you see is all OB until we get back in bounds right now it is a low ceiling and an elevated platform of these rocks to get to the basket so it’s going to be a layup shot and then about a 370t carry from the prime Landing Zone to the pin yeah a little a little two-piece this one’s going to be inside but no problem yeah it opens up around the corner really no problem going that far right fact it could potentially increase the angle into the green yeah it just depends on what kind of shot you you want to throw in if the farther right you get the more dangerous swinging get in on the heer correct but then the more penetration you can get with a straight shot to get kind of up into those plateaus I like I like this angle because now he can play that Hiser which typically able to skip on the Hiser a little more mhm as long as you don’t hit the Rocks directly in the air that’s the tough part there’s a lot of things you can hit on the screen it’s not easy to get it perfect but every once in a while you throw it right you can yeah you see a lot of people get to 30 30 feet to 35t decent height got to miss those trees okay yeah got up there on the second here nice shot from Chris oh unless this just crashes and gets through I okay yeah so maybe his play is to just get to the rocks and 70% of people are going to be right there seems yeah right even if they throw a better looking shot they’re going to get right and this a little heavy on the left side and if you don’t get through that initial wall you can see how difficult it could be putting from the other side of the scruffy stuff lot to like there a lot to like there skips it on to the last little tier if you haven’t ever watched Jake Heimer play before it is a pleasure because he is able to generate so much power just such an exaggerated reach back and follow through he really gets full potential of his frame into the shot good little look there get the height a little too much height is the rare thing here Simon Circle Edge really had to put that one through a little Gap it looked like really Hiser he like spun Heiser it through there and nice putt there for Simon stabbing in the birdie to get Chris on the board count it it’s a good shot here to seeing what the players have to deal with coming into the green with the tiered rocks ground play is just kind of a roll of the dice in a way three players able to get the birdie barring some spit out oh boy don’t do that heaps it’s in there he’s under he’s under par too under to be exact see he’s he’s looking back like nice look there what Simon had to he had a pretty big gap there mhm made it look a little too dramatic yeah that’s Simon that is just Simon though cheers to helping new players to high fives and encouragement to being a positive light while helping grow the sport cheers to you Ranger team thank you whole four par four 559 so not that far but because of the angle you have to come out of the woods to hit that Gap right there makes it kind of far throw it out on as much Hiser as you can with a sidearm get cut half of it off and then you have a pretty easy shot in uh sidearms the preferred play out of the Gap but you will see some turnovers and then sidearms the prefer for play into the green but you will see some turnovers there as well yeah I think it’s really dealer’s choice forehand just because you want to look at this Gap while you’re flicking through it um but you can look you could perfect angle there for a backhand turnover for Jake or even just a straight shot really Simon getting an interesting flare but that’s just fine getting through the Gap is really all you need to do you’re on four the most birdied hole on the course oh thought about this and not seeing Chris go forehand on hole two and now going roller here on four makes me wonder what’s going on is he having some sort of shoulder issue or is he just really feeling more comfortable with the vertical roller as opposed to the forehand good shot there for Ben everybody out the Gap I’m guessing Chris might do the same shot then I yeah this this next shot will be telling and Simon this is just held out way too wide and too stable of a disc yep and that will be 65 ft or so very fast putt coming right back down the hill and Chris is going turnover I don’t think it’s that’s a common play from there so I’m not that concerned about it good shot I just like this play Let it hit out oh boy got to trust the width going down the going to be fine though yeah extra fine you can use the hill to your advantage you I’ve seen people Skip and roll down into that into that OB area if it doesn’t hit the bucket you don’t know how close that will stay it was probably going to be fine this is what you’re looking for yep hi yep let the hill just check it up make your P Simon coming back down the hill come on man Putter’s hot right now Paul wow all three of his birdies are well we got a 60-footer in one a 30f footer on two a 65f footer here on four I meant to say on three but yeah that this guy’s getting it done right now just a beautiful putt yeah I mean that’s a perfect putt that’s perfect that doesn’t spit out on any basket what are those ones with the Rings I don’t know mock 3es mock oh Jake that’s on his approach it’s got to be closer yep hung it out a little too wide and Chris nice birdie but no I’ll take that I want to take that back it that’s on his putting you’re on the pro tour you got to make those putts in the circle 20 28 ft I think it’s half and half but yeah it’s yeah yeah you want easier but imagine if this was one of the hardest holes on tour then we just give them a yeah and give him a pass yeah no no you got to make it for sure it’s it’s a calm wind day we don’t get a lot of those here on tour certainly not this year it’s been a very Gusty year um there were some gust Pockets out there from time to but for the most part very scorable conditions and look at that through four holes Ganon Burr and cllin are perfect so far this is a hole we played last year but we didn’t play it with that big green bar across the top hole five it’s a par 4 625 ft it’s a big forehand turnover with the overstable disc to shape the Fairway the best but they’re also as a play for the backhand flip up that just barely gets through the Gap I would say then it’s just a downhill approach that’s protected by two very gnarly trees on the left and right side of the entryway into the green I’ve also seen people layup oh okay yeah shorter the Gap instead of trying to hit the Gap yeah looks like Simon is doing that oh yeah there you go yeah it’s just hard with the back end angle with the early stuff on the left side of the te to to really get a good angle in to make that Gap in the air looks like this might be another layup yeah that’s all you need cuz from there you got about 350 in hadn’t even considered that play but it looks like let’s see what Ben’s going to do here looks like the layup play sure I wonder how many times a player might not even even practice that shot or if they all coming to the same conclusion in practice that’s it I’m intrigued by that this one’s going bye-bye I like the angle mhm will work and just splits the Gap I’ve even seen people go over the bar oh with the backhand Big Shot yes I hadn’t seen that yet couple people so now this is going to be a completely blind shot see how he easy he threw it though yeah it just hitting the Gap pretty simple and he hits the cage hm [Applause] what oh my gosh that’s why I guess you lay it up I guess that’s why that close to an eagle oh my goodness well these guys have the line yeah I’d say so Simon going with the high shot because he’s a little more left little worse of an angle that’s Bullseye wow making this look way easier than it really is folks I promise yeah that tree is a monster and if you watch our practice round you can see how how brutal it is if you’re just three or 4 feet in to that tree it is hard to get in and hard to get out Ben going with the lower trajectory but doesn’t put enough on it that’s tough not not going to be easy par no now you can see what you get if you do throw the forehand and get through the Gap you’ve got this shot here oh this looks beautiful oh boy oh hello okay all right now you get to try the putt you just had in the last hole putting it out okay okay you didn’t see it I’m like uh did it come out yeah all right that’s a shot well done yeah it’s it’s icky in there not good yeah it’s frustrating you got to get it done from there and in it’s been number one hurdle for Jake in his young career is getting it done consistently on the greens and when he does putt well it’s where you see his name in the top 10 top 15 but he’s such a good thrower of the disc that he gives himself so many opportunities yeah and he has gotten a lot better at oh he every year he improves he’s changed his style several times some people who are Jake Heimer fans probably remember the uh the Horseshoe putting days where he just kind of said I’m fed up with what I’m doing it’s not working got to change it up and then he’s reverted back to the style that he uses now the more traditional stagger stance and I’ve played with him plenty of rounds when he has just made almost everything so not necessarily normal for his putting standards at this point but the story so far Simon lazat another birdie and he is tied at the top four under through five holes I got to give a quick shout out to Guthrie Collins getting the beig eagle to on hole five big time throwing congratulations to you sir wow what a throwin yeah all right par 4 720 ft this one is a toughy uh out of bounds left and right the tough part is the t- shot especially with the crosswind comes in pretty tight on the left hand side especially for backhand players it’s a really narrow Fairway when you’re trying to fit a backhand through this Gap you’re going to want to push it out right as far as you can or just throw it dead flat like this or mid-range yeah this is a great play but he’s going to be left with a long ways in J A long long ways in you’re going to see a lot more people play the sidearm Flex for the be best position I think on the whole and there’s that wide route that I was talking about get it out there let her float back in again this is going to be far it’s going to be right around 400 ft probably to the hole maybe a little bit more downhill all these guys going mid-ranges I love it and that’s why throw the mid-range and you don’t get the big skip so these guys have big brains I mean aside from from the forehand that Ben and Simon threw on hold two it looks like the game play that they’ve those three players have have thrown off the te is all been the exact same so far oh this is moving left does it have enough stability it’s going to be close oh look at The Spectator dodging out of the way and the stake helps Jake is just can’t believe that that got back in bounds this is a miracle yeah this is unbelievable once it turned over more there I thought it was dead to rights right here though okay let’s get out of the way Dodges the I mean the steak almost ruined him it was coming back no what it was no question going to come back in bounds that was wild what a break for Jake wide Heiser trying to catch the down slope and filter in let’s see if he can do it down slope that’s good that is so good Chris Dickerson man that was textbook execution and of course you know like Chris like Simon just another gameplay adaptation they’re just doing the same things in every hole just different heights yeah right big time different heights you know and Simon comes in before the second tree and but essentially you know the idea of of the whole throw slow disc in fast disc down get the roll okay in the circle fine that Clump is in the circle so you can hit that as long as you don’t go straight back and and have a circle Edge putt now after the big t- shot fairly routine forehand good roll I yeah I’m actually glad he landed there he needs to make one get it worked out yep you need to make it you make it from there and then maybe get a little momentum going forward good delivery Ben I love his putt always said it for the longest time hasn’t changed much over the years has it m it’s just always been good it’s early on his in his career I remember thinking like I I don’t know how he’s not one of the best players on the planet he was just oh no well he was just so good with that stroke and to the you know the eye test yeah with Ben oh boy the eye test with Ben is like Flawless you know there’s no there’s no flaws in his game that you could that you could see a few tournaments back right before n loss won what were we saying we were saying the best player on tour that hasn’t won a dis golf Elite Series event whether whether that be a major whether it be the national tour back in the day um was we were saying it was Nicholas right we were saying Nicholas Ana and maybe Aaron gosage and that conversation came up around Ben Callaway and he just looked at me with this like when are you going to say my name and I was like actually yeah sure why not you too like you’re right there too [Applause] [Music] buddy my I think about you all the time and I can’t see you [Music] now on the hole seven a similar hole well actually it is the same hole as we played last year it’s just a different number 375 ft and once again the Drone is taking you the hardest possible way to get to the pin the play is going to be the forehand anheiser flex play with a overstable driver that gets back and skips to the pin you might see Chris go backhand down this route here but I think everyone else is going to be flexing the forehand did you go backhand did yeah I definitely I went backhand with my make3 and parked it nice oh give him a friendly he’s making everything you don’t have you don’t have to well if he had to earn it he’d still earn it okay so Chris is going forehand the shoulder and elbow are fine he duffed it he duffed it that’s why he’s not throwing them what was that bounce reaction he hit the women’s teapad that was weird man I should say the FBO teapad I got you kway says hey Chris watch this very good that’s pretty much how you draw it up let me guess Heimer is going to put it in the circle oh he that for sure is going to be a good-look drive it’s a terrible wow did we butcher that I mean it was going to be if it doesn’t hit that bad boy yeah if it was thrown differently it would have been great m mhm this is a pretty T oh he needs it he needed that one big time he definitely is loving that that would have left him every bit of circle’s Edge very good tougher shot than it looks from there very tight yeah it it there’s no I don’t think there’s a way a camera can really illustrate how technical that shot was from Chris Ben making good four under now through seven Simon is on fire six down for that’s a good score very good cleanup for Chris you’re in hes those were not easy up and downs is that upside down he does do that from time to time I didn’t catch whether that one was or not but Jake is getting left behind right now by Simon and he has to start making those putts if he wants to remain in contention before it gets out of control cuz right now Austin Turner and Simon lazat are sixth down through seven going into the very challenging hole eight believe this is the first hole on the course that is averaging over par 777 ft but you’re going to need more than luck to get the birdie on this hole big Highs are to get yourself into play and then a second shot which is going to probably be somewhere in the 400 to 450 range depending on how big you go off the te there is out of bounds left and right the entire way [Music] down big Heiser hurry hurry bad spot to be out of bounds Paul mhm and you see they left the high grass doesn’t yeah doesn’t let you skip as much as you would think but he he made the arrow with the angle I think if that’s flatter no problem uhuh Ben going to be see this angle better it’s it’s going to move left and he’s playing it pretty safe there that’s going to be in the 450 maybe 450 plus range never seen him not like 450 on a golf course right this needs a callow’s got a ton of power and a ton of accurate power down that wood line on the left comes in quick and does avoid it it’s a good shot for Chris in the end good and keeps it in the middle deep this is deep yeah but Jake’s got the power does he have the angle does it continue to stand up straight oh goodness this is good oh man that was going to be absolutely parked what was that it’s a little it’s the only stump yeah that was a great shot from Jake again I I still think he needs to make one of these and and then he’s good yes he needs to find the stroke he’ be five under it he missed four of those putts mhm in the matter of three holes and if he made those he’d be 5 under he’d just be one back assignment right now look at this angle he’s going with this is so dangerous you hit one of these limbs he gets back foot up Simon loot Simon calm down Simon come on what a shot this guy’s like what the heck was that I’m GNA act like that’s normal yeah yeah good shot good shot Simon good shot that’s what I was thinking he just goes and tells his friends dude this guy’s an animal exactly Chris hit those okay putt it’s a putt there is a little casual uh Creek that’s holding water down there it’s not that big of a deal if you find yourself in it sneaks it through G to get away with it maybe oh the jump put right side hits the wrong end of the flutter on the putt falls out right didn’t even look like it had a chance you know the way it popped out yeah right I didn’t think about it that goes in on a lot of the buckets Ben’s putt goes in on all buckets when released like that a good par save remains at four under that’s an alltime par just such a casual that’s unable a lot of a lot of momentum a lot of confidence goes in that 420 ft on a weird little lie you could possibly do low ceiling come on Hees yep yes sir what a birdie and it’s the same distance that’s giving him fits all around good to see him make the adjustment finally and get a birdie in the basket look at this no oh my goodness that was pretty low and right to fall yeah and then it didn’t even think about it no it wasn’t even close and it wasn’t like coming in hot either four players now at six under through eight holes such a great start oh this is a tough one yeah 375 on a right to left slope right here out of bounds on the left hand side the good thing is is you can pull it out to the right as far as you’d like with no worries deep is out of bounds as well so you’re going to see wide highers the only only thing today with the muddy ground from the rain that we got last night is they’re sticking and rolling correct so it’s a good forehand play if you’ve got the distance for it yes absolutely Jake going as wide as he can good height trying to stick it and oh my goodness thank God it did yeah that is pushing it as deep as possible without going out of bounds today was tricky we’ve had headwinds every single day and so the distance you just don’t have dialed here yeah just got to be creative and know where the basket is and there’s the roll oh and our catch cam getting out of the way doing a little jig did he get out of the way he you know what he’s saying thumbs up yeah I’m sure that looks sus don’t say that you’re in your 30s Ben callway not hitting the same angle thus getting the skip finding the out of- bounds deep let me clarify you’re in your mid-30s that’s even worse somehow mhm here’s Chris and does it does it roll it tried okay good shot that looks suspicious guys is that better what a suspicious little shot there germ Jake coming back up for the birdie come on there we go I love the energy there yep finishing the front nine at three under honestly a solid nine yeah a respectable score no question then again saving par with a good putt that’s a beautiful putt guy rolling with that momentum coming last week from Jonesboro no gets a little swirly out there see and that’s what I it looked like that was wind affected but I also worry about this the rotations you know it’s coming out a little not as many rotations got to get get those rotations up rotate that disc but it definitely lifted out of nowhere yeah it felt like as soon as it came out of his hand it was not exactly the the plane he had intended for it to be released with but Simon lazat he is now tied with Paul Omen seven under on the front nine that is a smoldering hot star yeah I mean that’s as good as you can do yeah there’s a couple holes obviously nine for nine but not on this course there some tough tough bars I mean some tough birdies for sure absolutely you see this green and how everything’s rolling and our cameraman kind of kicks his his disc and then keeps it in Balance like things happen we are nine holes in the books here in Antioch Tennessee for the 2024 Music City open presented by lone stard dis we’ve got nine more holes to go today and then we got moving card moving day Saturday there’ll be cards moving around yeah we’ll see you tomorrow on the on the moving card day baby let’s go come back for the back now we’ll see you in a minute [Music] n [Music]

  1. can we get a little more separation between the mens and womens leagues, i dont think the pga tries to squash the two together

  2. Funny hole 1 commentary on Hebenheimer…. yeah, comfortable with snakes, like any snake whisperer, bitten hundreds of times- of course he's fine with snakes!

  3. I feel like Chris Dickerson's putt comes out with like 2 rpm. usually goes in so ig nothing wrong with it, just funny

  4. Paul needs to stop commentating. He’s always mad, or has an attitude, not enjoyable to watch and quite frankly is always complaining. If you’re a true veteran you aren’t doing these things. Jomez, please consider my comment. He needs correction. He is acting entitled and hasn’t proven himself in recent years and it’s annoying hearing someone commenting and he himself
isn’t anywhere close to the competition.

  5. Any season of this or any pro tour should have standardized baskets and tee pads. I hope the DGPT can resolve it soon. Try not to take much of a loss by purchasing the correct equipment and making things consistent.

  6. He hit the womens teepad…i should say the FPO teepad….i got you. Seems a bit foreshadowing for what happened the next day….maybe im looking to much into it but a little hateful towards Natalie? I hope im wrong.

  7. Love me some Jomez, but also loved me some full chase card and 2nd feature card action. Why get rid of that? After multiple chase card champs this year and last, choosing to restrict coverage lessens the sport..SMH

  8. "If it was thrown different, it would have been great." Commentary knocking it out of the park 2 weeks in a row smh

  9. Wld be cool to see Jake get a W! I really wonder how much time he spends practicing putting…Im thinking a good amount! Sometimes that ish can just get in your freakin head and nobody is safe from the putter woez!

  10. Woah wait a minute Big Jerm told Uli not to say sus, but I vividly remember Big Jerm saying "sheeesh" in the Jonesboro coverage hahaha

  11. Paul I hear ya about some camera love but I feel like thats less of an issue than spectator interference. As long as you're not the first card to go out on the first round, the caddies should tell you where the camera placements are. Spectators on the other hand often stand where they shouldn't and don't pay attention or they setup a whole camp site, with lawn chairs, coolers trash bags on the ground. So when I see a pro disc hit some dip-shats cooler that setup in the perfect hyzer line, I'm saying to myself what a dick he may have just cost that person hundreds of $$$$.

  12. "He hit the women's tee pad…I should say, the FPO tee pad." I get it, because not all of them are women. Well done sir.
