Is Taylor Pendrith starting to show his potential getting first PGA Tour win?

Taylor Pendrith came out on top Sunday to win the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, his first PGA Tour win. TSN Golf analyst Bob Weeks joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss if Pendrith’s potential is starting to show after battling multiple injuries, what gave him the edge this weekend, and much more.

here’s Bob weeks uh our golf analyst to talk about this incredible win at the Byron Nelson for Richmond Hill Ontario’s Taylor pendri Bob it just sounds great to say it feels great to say that because this is a golfer who despite so much potential has really dealt with a Wrath of injuries over the last few years so how much more special does that make this Victory this weekend you know it’s I think the the waiting and the battle and the struggle to get through all these injuries and some of the weirdest things he he tore a muscle in his palm I’ve never even heard of that injury before he he he broke a rib while he was actually playing golf at the Players Championship a couple of years ago and he’s always sort of been trying to get up to full speed but never been able to so this is this is really big for him I mean I I could tell you about 10 years ago I went down to do a piece on Taylor pendrith and Cory Connors who were roommates at Kent State University and the coach there is a guy named herb paage who’s from Canada he moved down there to coach he’s been the coach there for 100 years and he told me he says you know of all the players who’ve come through through there and he pointed at pendrith and he said that’s the one that’s the guy who’s going to be my Superstar and I think we’ve all just kind of been waiting for this to happen and finally now you’re seeing it that’s so exciting and he’s always been known Bob for his driver for that driving distance you can’t win tournaments just with your driver and this weekend Taylor really put that short game together didn’t he he did it’s amazing you know he’s been able to drive which helped him because his shoulders now kind of working again properly but he chipped in four times including one on the six hole today at the uh out of the bunker he got up and down 15 out of 18 times so he missed only 18 greens 15 of those he made pars saved pars out there so his wedge and his putter have been working brilliantly and when you have both ends you have the driver working you have the short game working boy you can be awfully tough to beat so we have the President’s Cup coming up in Montreal this September as you know Bob how close is pendrith to making Mike we’s international team well he C making Mike wear have a second look I can tell you that and uh you know Mike’s I I was at an event a few weeks ago with Mike we and I said I want to give you the over and under of two and a half of how many Canadians are going to make this team and he says I think we’ll probably go with the over but he you know there could be as many as four five of the way these guys are playing right now and Taylor pendrith has now put himself in consideration he played the last time by the way the President’s Cup was going uh in Charlotte two years ago so he said this is right at the top of his goal list is to get back on that team this time around and uh we can’t forget the map Leafs of course Bob because Taylor’s from Richmond Hill Ontario little suburb of Toronto the broadcast noted after this Victory by Taylor that they hoped it made up for the fact that his Leafs lost on Saturday and he spent Saturday night watching the game Bob you’re the best thanks for this e
