event oh not live event we’re not talking about the shitty PGA event in New Orleans we’re talking about the live event tonight uh Steve on vacation uh coming from remote parts of the US what’s up buddy ah it’s okay I’m in the Outer Banks I think I told that uh said that last week uh on the show um now things are good uh as we just talked about before the show uh vacations definitely are different with two kids now instead one I can yeah I can no longer just pass one kid to my wife and say you know what I’m gonna go for a walk or I’m GNA do nine holes we go soak in the hot tub uh it’s a little more difficult now we both have certain days carved out for just us mine is Thursday because it’s the draft and I’m probably gonna do at least 18 holes maybe another nine if I have enough time the weather is gonna be absolutely horrific though not for me but for everybody else which means the golf course is going to be absolutely empty it’s gonna be great unfortunately number five remember that long par five is next to the water uh it plays up to the north it’s going to be into a 25 mile per hour wind uh are gonna card probably an eight maybe I’ll just do that and just move on at that point because that hole is gonna be absolutely impossible uh in that win but I’m looking forward to playing n head and uh not looking forward to talking about uh you know the PG T which apparently is either if Scotty wins uh or just a complete bum wins uh it’s I don’t know what we do man like I I mean look maybe I’m hoping the kids will [ __ ] him up a little bit and then we’ll see about him only winning in March and April uh by the next time the next event rolls around in May May but man it really does feel like you [ __ ] light your money on fire when you’re you’re you’re betting a tournament and you’re not betting Scotty at 4 to one like I mean all these all these guy all these casuals who just have been bet in 4 to one happier than a pig and [ __ ] because it’s like you know hitting a three team [ __ ] parlay on a Sunday you know uh yeah it’s uh it’s it’s it’s discouraging and annoying and it takes the fun out of golf for me well so I was uh I was driving down uh to the Outer Banks on Sunday and my buddy who just got into golf gambling after years of or not just golf G just gambling in general after years of living in New York with free books and just was you know refusing but you know he’s he’s got the bug but he had been losing a lot of bets lately and he complained our text thread like hey you know I’m been losing a lot and I just rep back to him like just lay the house on Scotty minus 125 to win today he’s like yeah I’m like yeah it’s gonna happen like this is completely inevitable at this point uh and hey Scotty the slump Buster so and you know if it’s help helping my casual friend uh break out of a slump that’s great for him uh was not great that I had I think uh second and third place uh for outrights this week just goes a show maybe I should just bet you know without Scotty Market it’s definitely also in frustrating that Harbor toown is supposed to be the golf course where anybody has a shot to win lots of parody because it’s not you know don’t rely on the driver lot of short iron supposed to open up the player pool and the fact that Scotty went out and W by multiple Strokes is highly highly um frustrating and concerning uh for the rest of the year yeah yeah I mean I uh I let myself not even really like I let myself get teased a little bit with windom’s front nine I was like oh he can make it run but then I started doing the math and I was like yeah it doesn’t matter and then he [ __ ] B on the 12 um I was yeah I was like when he I was this guy’s this guy could shoot a 58 and I still might not [ __ ] have enough shots to beat Scotty it is uh it is just it is just not fun okay I don’t like and he’s so boring and that’s the thing about it like he doesn’t hit any exciting [ __ ] shots like listen if you’re gonna curb stomp me every week at least make it exciting like make some crazy shots like the chip in that wasn’t exciting I almost broke my TV I was so [ __ ] mad when he chipped in an eagle I was like y there it is that’s it that’s all she wrote folks I went outside started doing [ __ ] yard workk yeah well well the thing is about Scotty and like you know people want to compare what happened with tiger and tiger you know obviously he had the off the Course St when he was actually in his prime winning no one knew about that and his post round interviews were just robotic it’s a lot like Scotty he just remember how like the me he basically Tiger’s image was so tightly managed of course the course he’s like Brady tiger and Brady I put like on the same level that that’s what they did they had a team they didn’t say anything in I don’t care if Scotty says anything in a press conference do something amazing that makes me go holy [ __ ] well that’s the thing is back then tiger was playing a completely different game than anybody else he was hit like how far and straight he was hitting it and how he would hit those long irons was just different from no one else could do what he does and Scotty listen there’s a lot of guys that can drive it just as far and straight as he can there’s a lot of guys that can hit his iron just as good as he is there’s a lot of guys can get up and down just as good as he does but the fact is he just does it all so much better combined than everybody else and tiger at least got excited and had some juice behind it when he actually made a good shot or he would show emotion Scotty you’re not really getting that and that’s you know that’s I think the key difference between you know the on you know the viewing experience of Scotty versus tiger at this point let me ask you a question though let’s just go through let’s put a little bow on this let’s go through Scotty’s just off the top of my head his schedule probably the rest of the year and how concerned are you that he’s gonna win it so he’s gonna play Quail Hollow driver heavy ball stra long iron contests is he going to go out and win that one I mean I mean I’m G to be worried until he makes not worried anymore like I like I really feel hopeless like I I don’t I don’t know how to describe it maybe that’s why I’m all [ __ ] bummed out this week like I don’t even have a tournament that I give a [ __ ] about where I can bounce back I got a shitty PGA team event where the books are goddamn criminals and all these guys are are like the Hard Rock is is an absolute criminal organization like some of these guys that are 50 to1 are like 120 to1 other books so I can’t even get excited about these bets the live bets same thing like I I got [ __ ] odds um but listen I’m at least I don’t even know what time the thing’s going to be on like I don’t know I’m just frustrated with golf as a whole and then tomorrow they’re gonna have their [ __ ] Equity meeting to find out how much richer these douchebags are gonna get like great great outstanding all right well Scotty’s schedule probably the rest way he’s gonna play Quail Hollow gonna play valhall which be honest when we do when we do the preview for Valhalla it’s gonna be like just Scotty ran all over it uh after that probably the memorial he’s had a lot of success there ball Strikers reward straighten accuracy that’s not gonna be great for that Pinehurst we were gonna put him on Bermuda and while it’s tricky around the green kimer just putted everything from off green so you can actually be a pretty bad Scrambler and do well there yeah that one I think it might be I mean listen you know anything is call calling a course not a Scotty course is a reckless opinion yeah but I don’t think he’s going to win the US Open and then the open you know he’s whenever he’s gone overseas and played on some of those slower greens that hasn’t gotten all that great from him now he has a new putter though so I think the opening Us open safe from him I think the PJ is definitely ripe for him and then he got the FedEx C playoffs where well nobody cares about those I don’t care about those no after the Open Championship golf season’s essentially over by and large but uh I think you hadit the nail on the head earlier that watch hope the baby kind of messes yeah like let’s let’s hope like so my my second youngest was Kaki and so it was me and my wife like just ships in the night [ __ ] passing each other we trade shifts I did night shift she did day shift and there was there was no sleep in the house for like [ __ ] if we didn’t have that there was no sleep in the house for like three months it was the difference is that uh Scotty so rich you can probably hire like a night nurse or something to uh handle all yeah but do you feel like I feel like uh I feel like maybe Scotty’s not that type of guy I would hope not I think that’s pretty scummy to do that I think I think probably as a new dad you probably should uh get used to being think think about how you were with your first kid you know what I mean like it was just like an awe like oh my God this little tiny thing is mine and I cannot break it and I that’s true just every little thing as a dad I was so scared to do anything like changing the diapers like oh my God I’m gonna hurt her arm putting it through the onesie you know what I mean like yeah so I hope I hope he has the same thing and he’s he should be completely distracted from golf and enjoy his his new baby whether it’s a boy or a girl I don’t know which one okay well for uh everyone’s sake especially with the gambling markers if we don’t want to be betting Scotty uh without Scotty markets uh let’s hope that baby really screws uh things up so exactly all right uh why and uh you know when you guys trade out of three dude I yeah I will not be happy D I like I’m sure you don’t remember but when M Jones got picked I was scream I was like I don’t [ __ ] want ma Jones no and then and then we a week later when we did our like you know talk you did you did it’s just like I kind of talked myself into saquan I talked myself into no you know I never really talked myself into Daniel Jones uh that’s that was a good take I never taught myself in kader’s Tony as well which was uh that’s also that’s also true that was a good take so all right let’s talk about uh where they’re gonna play this stupid live event uh this year although I I shouldn’t say that yeah this was a great that last last time I played yeah I of all the Live Events this is the most successful one because the crowd energy down there is actually palpable and I the reason why and this has been a big complaint with a lot of the Australians and why they actually went over to live was Australia was criminally underutilized by the pga2 you know they they had a w yeah they had a WGC event like way back in the day there but it’s a passionate golf country and they just never decided to they want to do excuse me a tournament there yeah and a lot of the Australian golfers cited this as a reason saying hey they want to play in front of their home crowd and I you know I I think you know even if they had like couple fall events or you had maybe the PJ who were co-sanctioned the austral PGA Australian Open kind of like what the DP world I where did maybe those guys maybe maybe doesn’t happen maybe Liv ends up uh you know because they have so this Australian base and you know the need for a world tour isn’t quite as much because you still have a presence here I don’t know but uh this is at the gra country uh gra Golf Club so uh this what it’s a very Sandy piece of turf uh GF began played there in 1910 after World War I the Australian government actually allowed uh veterans of World War I to settle on this on the golf or on the piece of land and you know basically try and uh you know become Farmers but uh you know kind of like with Bay Hill the land just was pretty infertile for any growth so they actually turned it into a golf course and early in the day you know uh when they were trying to grow Turf in order to make it a golf course the grass wasn’t mature enough so they couldn’t build proper greens so they be and it became really difficult to putt on so the greens actually had or what were the greens they just put a hole in the ground with a 12in hole and an iron ring and that would be uh what you had to putt towards just a a foot diameter hole yeah um eventually they built two golf courses on the property the East and the West course and they held a couple professional tournaments there but uh it really became famous or really broke through I think in the uh the global uh sense in 1976 they held the West Lakes classic and it had a bunch it attracted a bunch of American Stars it was a pretty good feel but there was one guy in particular that captivated the world and really this became his coming out party and it was a 21y old from Queensland uh and he set the course record that week was 64 and his name was Greg Norman and Greg Norman’s first win came on the East course here now remember last podcast we were talking about the schedule about how they set up where they go and it typically is either you know something with a GRE Norman connection or something with a trump connection or something kind of adjacent to Trump World whatever and once again this is another example of a go of course with a significant Greg Norman connection this was his first win as a professional uh years later he redesigned the place and now uh this is on I believe just looking at the map I’m going to pull it up here right now um I’m pretty sure this is a composite golf course as you can kind of see here uh you know the the East course is all over here the West course is over here and it kind of is using um both golf courses here so this is a par 72 this is only 6,946 yards long a lot of these golf courses are not over 7,000 yards long how they set up on live um the problem is I tried to find a little bit what the Agronomy was the only thing I could find was it’s bent grass greens just knowing Australian golf it could be zoa Fairways it could be couch grass kind of we saw in Hong Kong uh maybe a little bit of mixture of both but you kind of see here just looking at you know up up top here lot of trees fairly narrow um you know just kind of like zooming in on this first hole here you know there just isn’t a whole lot of room off the tea and you know this golf course you know being in the sand belt here uh being this time year where there’s not a lot of rain there’s not a lot of rain in general plays pretty firm and fast they played pretty firm and fast last year uh for the Australian Open or uh for Liv Adelaide so and there just isn’t a whole lot of room to hit pull driver at a lot of these holes you know it’s going to either roll off into a bad spot here or you know you gotta it could clang around the trees and most holes are pretty much like that um you know it also has a lot of sharp bunkering on a lot of it um um you know especially around the greens actually I’m going to pull up a little later a couple pictures of what it looks like around the greens just kind of give you a little more flavor of this golf course but there’s a lot of sharp edging around the bunkers that’s what you see at a lot of Australian golf courses uh the greens have some fairly significant undulation to it they can get really quick um you know there was a lot of putts big breaking putts last year in the final round uh live Adela that you had to be concerned about uh there’s also uh the party hole which is hole number 12 this one right here uh you can’t tell from the overhead but this is all lined with stands and uh you know bunch of drunks essentially this is where Chase kepka hit an ace this was probably uh maybe the highlight of the Liv season last year when Chase hit a ace and everybody threw their beers and did shoes and um it was a good moment for live and you know like we mentioned this was a wildly s probably the most successful tournament uh they had on Liv yeah you’re just because of the crowd energy um did you watch any of this last year in the middle of the night or did you just uh kind of leader I think I did the rewatch on YouTube after the following day and then I think I woke up to find out that Taylor gu like ran away with it I was like I’m not watching that well we’ll get to the leaderboard in a little bit uh he didn’t quite run away with it first two days first two days I remember he shot like [ __ ] but he won by how many strokes did he win by won by a chunk he won by three still but I’ll show you how much he was up after two days and uh so I bet Taylor G last year I after two days I’m like all right well there’s no way he can blow this lead and uh he he almost did uh but what I want to show you right now is um you know some uh pictures of the golf course so uh this is part of the West course here you have this you know you can see kind of the sharp edging of this bunker right here this a fairway bunker pretty long here kind of reminds me a little bit of some bunker you see at TPC San Antonio that is a similar you know that’s a fellow Greg Norman design also is kind of inspired by Australian uh golf as well um this picture though this also definitely resembles a little bit of TPC San Antonio you know how like deep those bunkers are and some of the sharp edges here and you know these green complexes kind of look a little bit like that so that’s kind of an angle you might want to take is there’s you know I’ll go through last year’s leaderboard there’s some guys in the top 10 that have a lot of success at TBC San Antonio at this place so you think about TBC San Antonio when we look at the predictive skill set chart driving isn’t very predictive there because you know it’s fairly narrow everything’s really right in front of you uh I can play kind of firm it’s kind of like with this place I feel like driving you know as far as that skill because you know it’s short narrow it’s more positional it’s firm you don’t have to pull dve d a lot feel like that kind of shrinks the Gap a little bit between those guys and here I feel like just based on the short scorecard yarders going to be a lot of short irons you know and you know we kind of saw with scoring last year scoring is pretty good it’s really gonna be a lot of putting um you know guys maybe a good short game if they playing Ferman a little bit windy that’s a bit of an advantage as well so uh I mean just looking at these pictures though definitely reminds me of that Golf Course um right off the bat there so let’s look at this uh the leader board so Taylor G was up 10 after the second round 10 shots and uh felt pretty good about that but I was actually on my way to the Outer Banks last year so uh you know I had my kid in the hotel room because I was a solo dad traveling down at that point oh I forgot about that yeah so I she woke me up around I think like 11:30 or so I’m like you know what why don’t I just tune in and see how it’s going and you know I I I turned it on the lead was seven I’m like okay you know things are probably fine but then it turns to six and then four and I think the lead actually got down to one at one point Jes I’m I’m freaking out I’m like I’m I think I’m texting you at this point I’m saying I’m gonna if I can’t nail an outright with him up by 10 after two rounds what’s the point of all of this I’m like I think I text you at one point this is rigged yeah because cam Smith was making at that point we had no idea because who knew if it was rig or not yeah who knew you know but I think I said you know this is rig you couldn’t even get action on legal books yet with [ __ ] Liv no this I I was betting everything on my offshore at this point but now it’s it’s it’s on the legal but you know end of the day though you know Tay rers wins a 19 under honor Bon leui yeah finishes second at 16 under Cameron tringali yeah this is not a great leader birg Cameron trali 15 under papz 15 under cam Smith 15 under P still on live yeah he still is that he’s still a member of the Four Aces unbelievable that he’s one of the worst golfers on that tour but yes he is a member of the Four Aces Charles schwarzel 1400 Dean ber 1400 Peter Uline 14 under then DJ 13 under so yeah I mentioned TBC San Antonio as you know a little bit of a crossover Golf Course honor Bond leir’s got some good results at TBC San Antonio I think he’s got a fifth place finish there tringali was always pretty good at TBC San Antonio Pat Perez uh back in the day when he actually was a competent golfer you know he’s got a bunch of top 20s top 10 at TVC San Antonio cam Smith his only appearance F T6 there Patrick Reed I think is a runner finish at TBC San Antonio um Louis never played it Abe aners has been all right there Varner’s had a good couple good finish TBC San Antonio so you know I mean kind of look at his leaderboard here since V got that [ __ ] dewy he hasn’t done anything no he hasn’t oh in Saudi Arabia no he hasn’t no no no his DUI oh so you think there you think there’s like a connection there the fact he’s not in the sauce anymore or had to go to re no no no I I think I don’t know who knows maybe he’s [ __ ] maybe he got stressed out I don’t know who [ __ ] his old ladies in his ear you [ __ ] [ __ ] you got arrested who knows what I’m just say it’s this DUI think his [ __ ] play is falling off maybe so I guess the point is kind of look at this leaderboard last year a lot of guys are pretty good with their short irons a lot of guys I wouldn’t consider very good drivers like you know tringali or Perez or Smith or Reed um you know even Taylor gu isn’t really the strongest driver but you’re keeping driver in the bag a little bit this week give me a little more of a test of some of your shorter irons because you can hit less than driver but you know if you keep in the Fairway the ball’s going to run a little bit uh with some of these firmer greens as well uh maybe guys a little bit a better short game but you know just looking at the scoring here this is one of the easier Liv scoring events of uh you know last year you know the average score is almost minus three under par and this is with kind of a worse field so I kind of went with that I I I looked more towards guys that I feel like can get hot with a putter little better with a shorter irons not necessarily has to rely more on their driving uh per se and you know I got a couple guys on the card it’s not a very exciting card to be honest I thought the odds were kind of garbage this week and I’m on Vaca I’m on vacation so uh I didn’t really do my usual grinding as I normally do hey maybe that’ll actually pay off this week it didn’t pay off last week at Harbortown when I actually did [ __ ] exactly but it’s kind what I’m going for this this week is you know guys pretty good with their shorter irons guys who may c a lot of birdies you know and and I think kind of looking at this golf course sets up a little bit like Hong Kong did where you know that was shorter positional you know and you saw like you know cam Smith you know AB aner like those guys you know were in the playoff there kind of shading more towards those types of golfers versus at Durado shading more towards like you know the drivers the bombers it’s a different it’s a little bit different strategy this week uh for this one so all right do we have another ad break or do you want to what guys been generally doing uh on live I don’t have any of the Masters results in here because like the setup of the Masters and the setups to these Live Events I I I don’t really want to throw that in here so if you want to look at how these guys did the Masters a couple of these guys I bet you know I’m going to refer to the Masters results because it was recent but overall those I I’m only want to look at like how these guys doing on live for this stuff so top of the odds board you got John R six to1 Roy Neema 10 to1 Shambo 10 to1 cam Smith the hometown hero The Narrative boy uh at 10 to1 Terell Hatton 12 to1 Gucci at 14 to1 um and we’ll go with uh um we’ll save Louie actually uh for later for 21 or over so you anyone under 20 to one this week no I haven’t bet anything yet except uh okay so you down the board I want I want to wait to talk to you what the [ __ ] are you know whatever like what am I going to do it’s not like these [ __ ] odds move like they stay the same no one’s no one’s burning up the [ __ ] live odds um I haven’t seen any move anyway um I was considering C Smith but a 10 to one a stupid narrative I don’t know like I mean look you can certainly do worse like I don’t think Bryson’s gonna do anything this I don’t care I don’t think DJ gives a [ __ ] about anything after his performance of the master he won’t be getting any my money moving forward Brooks can’t give a [ __ ] oh I’m sorry we’re still on the board uh Hatton if Hatton was a little deeper I’d probably take a look at Terell but cam Smith is the only guy i’ bet on the tornado one okay um so I’m not betting cam Smith outright I am not a buyer in the narrative I think him coming into the a like the AY ter like I you know listen I’m the same guy that’s been saying don’t bet Scotty up my face um I’m not betting the outr on Cameron however the fact that I said okay a lot of short irons driving I don’t think matters got to hit a lot of birdies I feel like I would be really foolish to just full fade cam even though he has not been hitting the ball well really for most of the year and even if you look at the Masters he didn’t hit the ball very well the Masters either so this is he hit okay two of the days right what’s up didn’t he hit it okay two of the days and he wasn’t doing with the putton I I know he lost Strokes T to Green on the week yeah for the Masters which is not great cam Smith so C so I did bet cam Smith’s top 10 it was minus one so I also did too I feel like that is just kind of just dumb to full fate cam Smith in Australia on think go of course rewards a lot of short irons and driving doesn’t matter how much it kind of sets up a little bit like live Hong Kong yeah I got even odds for a top 10 I just end up betting that yeah why not okay why not um I did bet Hatton though uh I bet him 12 to one he’s been do he’s been putting really well yeah he’s been playing great this year and I think the fact that he actually what top 10 at the Masters a golf course he hates insane which is nuts um to me it kind of gives me the impression that maybe he’s actually playing pretty good golf right now he hasn’t one in a while too and I feel like Dubai he last won in 2021 I think Dubai at Dubai double that week yeah that was the last time you [ __ ] won he did the sewoo hat and double yeah sewoo hat and double man yeah so but I feel like the days baby cash and doubles yeah but I feel like this was a good golf course for him as far as you know he’s at the you know he’s an he’s he’s a good driver but I feel like his strengths is putting mostly and a lot of his shorter than mid irons and kind of firmer conditions so I think this is a good fit for him and he and Terrell definitely fits in with that Aussie crowd no question he does he does fit in with a little bit with that vibe there so um May I’ll join yoube maybe I’ll join you on him okay uh I know our producer is be cam uh single bulleted ROM uh listen he hits a ton of outrights he is way more successful than us he probably should host his own show so uh everybody should uh just uh go with our producer uh at this what a [ __ ] heer he’s been on this yeah yeah making us look bad we gotta
