algorithm demands these things on top of
that if you are new to the Steve banford
golf YouTube Channel please press that
subscribe button we are now within 50 I
believe of hitting 4 and a half th000
Subs so sub to the show and of course
make sure your notifications are
switched on if you want to follow me on
X at banford golf right let’s crack
on let’s move forward the CJ cup Byron
Nelson a and t are gone they are
focusing all of their efforts on the
Pebble Beach pram from now on and the
extra money they have to uh put up CJ
Logistics the South Korean business the
we used to the CJ cup have stepped in
the Byron Nelson this golf course of
course or Irving this part of Dallas
Texas it tends to be where most of the
South Korean players base themselves
they follow the lead of KJ Choy who
moved here many many years ago a
reasonable field Jordan SP is the
favorite Wills Urus and all of the South
Koreans that you would expect to be here
Jason day the defending Champion Adam
Scott in there as well a few fringy top
50 in the world type players of course
the action really steps up next week for
the Wells Fargo Championship and at
Quail Hollow which is a signature event
don’t forget you can follow me at
banford golf on X let’s get those 300
likes and subscribe to the show I know
that 50% of you are watching this are
not subscribers to show some respect TPC
Craig granch this is the fourth time
we’ve played here mckin Dallas Texas Tom
wisoff design it is easy around here
Parkland Resort level scoring Texas golf
course medium in length par 71
7,414 yards the first two years it
played as a 72 they turned a five into a
four didn’t do a great deal to the
difficulty in scoring Jason day when he
won here last year won at 23 underpar
the previous two years 25 and 26
underpar par 25 and 26 underpar by of
course KH Lee they might as well call
this the KH Lee cup Will he win for the
third time in four visits this year I
don’t think so so Jason day at 23 under
KH Le at 26 under and KH Lee 25 under
the first time he won here the course
itself holds with water hazards in play
13 number of sand bunkers 83 aces of
Fairway 35 the fairways are Cavalier Zia
grass the rough is Bermuda grass C of an
inch longer this year 2.75 in the greens
fairly chunky
6,778 Square ft on average that is quite
an anal statistic stimp 11 1 half to 12
however we are we did get a dosing of
the GOL course on Sunday and I’m
expecting another large dosing on
Thursday this golf course has played as
the fifth the fourth and the sixth
easiest on the PGA Tour the first three
years so it will be a birdie Fest now
that zoa grass angle is interesting you
want golf courses that feature zoa grass
well I’ll give them to you East Lake
where they play the Tour Championship
each year narino Country Club where
they’ve played The Zo Zozo Championship
2019 21 22 and 24 or 23 and TPC
Southwind where they’ve played very ious
wgc’s the St Jude Invitational the FedEx
St Jude classic that again zoa grass
this is a little bit more unique though
it’s not the same as East Lake it’s not
the same as South Wind because this is
Zia and bent grass greens only the
second Bentgrass green tournament we
have had in 2024 be bear that in mind B
Reeve Country Club hosted the 2018 PGA
Championship and that did feature
zoa grass Fairways and bent grass greens
weather Thursday looks a wash out if
they do play it’ll be in the afternoon
winds
up uh the forecast has changed across
Monday I’m recording this on Monday in
the UK in the shes of England
um did look very very windy now looks
part windy I think there’s going to be
sort of half days there could be some I
don’t like to say it but there could be
some kind of bias a to p.m sorry about
bashing the laptop um don’t forget you
follow me on X at Bamford golf
so I think it’s going to be easy again I
think it’s going to be sub 20 underp
power
wins
um I think there are definite angles
though you do need someone around here
that can actually putt the golf ball
I’ll go into some more information
around that in
this next section of the show right
let’s take you through the course
breakdown shall we three
renews uh I look at the Champions
there’s only been two
um where they finished with uh with
regards to those that made the
cut average it through 18th for strokes
going off the T fourth for approach that
is madly huge 22nd for around the green
that is a factor unlike uh previous
courses we’ve seen like the Valero
Houston open Strokes going around the
green this week is a factor Strokes
going T to Green is
three and strokes gained putting is
17th so let’s run that through Strokes
gain putting was 18th at the master
Strokes g at the her pting at the
Heritage was 19th just a little bit more
importance this week with the flat stick
let me go through the actual total
number breakthrough 74% of Strokes
gained total for the winners here have
been Tea Green
26% with the putter now that compares to
the Heritage the last time we were here
80% te green 20% pting and of course
Scotty Sheffer won with a neutral
Strokes gained putting performance that
isn’t the kind of number that Stacks up
here if you actually look at the first
three winners here they have gained on
average 92 Strokes game with a pter I
think you’ve got to be able to Pat team
noat not as much in effect this week at
the Byron Nelson which of course is
being sponsored by CJ the CJ cut Byron
Nelson I will get used to it now if
we’re looking at traditional statistics
and why not you know driving accuracy
greens and regular all that outdated
kind of stuff driving distance 36 not
overly important when I say 36th though
I mean KH Lee was 49th for driving
distance he still whacked at 308 yards
and we know there were players out there
that can’t get anywhere near that so I
think I think medium to longish drivers
of the golf ball not bombers who can hit
it relatively straight I say reason and
be State 302 for driving accuracy
the last two winners here be that KH
lead the second time and Jason say did
hit what rank 22nd and 34 for driving
accuracy they hit
66.1 and
64.3% of their Fairways they are wide
Fairways here by the way Greens in
regulation 11th proximity to whole 28th
scrambling 11th putting average 18th
again
scrambling important around the green
scrambling approach
straightish driving medium to longish in
terms of that total driving brakedown so
we I don’t want to see drivers that are
hitting it 335 off the te and 191st in
driving accuracy I want drivers of the
golf ball that are a lot straighter than
that and we can taper down on the actual
driving distance
itself right let’s take you through the
top 10 of this week’s predictor model
that I pull together this morning Monday
over here in the beautiful English
shes top 10 if I mention each way places
all a fif the odds 10 Keith cashmir

to1 with bet Fair eight Place each way
never won in the States but as we
know doesn’t win on Bermuda grass ever
better over here in Europe on on
Bentgrass greens and also on bent grass
mixed with poana so these paring
surfaces will be more to his liking
number one Tom hogi Blast from the Past
Tom hogi 40 to1 Sky Bet eight places

Schmidt five Tom hogi four mckeny Hughes
three seum two Alex naren number one
Peter guest playing some good golf is
Peter guest as he tries to get some form
of temporary membership
uh winning price is here 18 to1 Jason
day 125 to1 KH Le the second
time to one KH Lee the first time we
know although you try and find it on the
internet that this golf course is used a
lot by the South Korean and Chinese con
contingent that live around
Dallas
um makes a level of sense that their
players that play here and practice here
go well in tournaments here how that
works though now that the a Byron Nelson
is sponsored by CJ cup is interesting to
see a Korean hasn’t won the CJ cup since
it first arrived on the PGA tour and
actually when you look at the CJ Cup and
the tournaments that they’ve had of
course over at n9ine Bridges they did
some in California during Co no
real there hasn’t been a Korean that’s
gone overly close to winning yes they’ve
had the old back door top five top three
even with sir Kim but not overly in the
hunt to win whether that’s something in
the career psyche whether that will
change who knows but that’s something I
stayed away from why do I think Tom Kim
doesn’t win now I like Tom
Kim we’ve been on Tom Kim in the past
when he wins does tend to like very
short Golf Course fores I think this
might be might be a little bit too long
for him
7,414 y p
71 I don’t see that he’s got the
outright power to get the job done does
it mean he doesn’t contend doesn’t mean
he doesn’t get a good each-way return
but when you look at the statistics of
those that have won here so far I think
you might need a little bit more Mumbo
off the T clearly his approach play both
the RBC Heritage and the Masters and his
putting at the RBC Heritage was
fantastic so if he keeps the hot P going
a win could be in Bound this week it
could be inbound very very soon uh he’s
got far more of a chance this week than
he has at qu Hollow I will say that also
his Strokes going off the T numbers have
been very very negative all this year in
20124 that will need to take a major
step forward right these are the players
that I have gone for I’m not going to go
through official World Golf Ranking Min
wo Lee to each way I’ve gone points 25
to1 I’ve taken there is a lot of 28 to1
out there with coral because I’ve got 10
places each way at 50 odds minu Le
Korean Heritage you look where he’s
played well around the world tends to be
tends to be on bent grass
greens four professional victory is uh
two in Australia one in
Macau uh and one in Scotland at the
Renaissance Club decent event there 19
under 18 under 30 under in maau on a
golf course that was a bit like a pitch
in a pat 20 under the last victory this
Christmas December at the Australian PJ
Championship I think this kind of
scoring level for Min Ru Le right up his
street I do genuinely think he’s more
Bentgrass positive than Bermuda
grass uh also fourth for strokes going
off the T Augusta National last time he
played which translated second for total
driving he was 12th for Greens in
regulation and first for ball striking
in rude Health T gree needs to find a
positive patter but if he is going to
find a positive pter it’s likely to be
on Bentgrass greens that are pretty flat
that tends to be low scoring so I’m on
minu Lee 25 to1 two points each way
there is 28 to1 out there and plenty of
it but I’ve taken the full 10 places
with
coral next up a player I like on low
scoring Adventures he’s within the
world’s top 50 his name is Adam
shank he’s finished uh 15th oh away he
was 15th here heading into Sunday in 202
before finishing 34th I just think he’s
far better player than that now he
always used to start well great first
round leader bet go backwards but you’ve
got to say that Adam shank over time has
become a lot more rounded a lot better
under
pressure uh so far since we’ve come back
away from the West Coast 19th at the
Players fifth at the Valero Texas open
12th at the Masters I believe the last
two times he’s played in Texas he has
finished in the top five and that 12th
that the Masters is some incredible
performance that no one’s paid any
attention to whatsoever of course that
means again Adam shank will be playing
the
2025 Masters and fair play to Adam shank
I think he’s one of those players that
is due a maiden Victory quite quickly so
Adam shank one and a half points each
way 45 to1 I got that eight places each
way via the each way extra facility at
bet 365 another I’ve been sniffing
around recently McKenzie Hughes one and
a half points each way I got that 45 to1
eight places each way with William Hill
McKenzie Hughes was the was second after
36 holes here 12 months ago and believe
you me he wasn’t playing the kind of
golf that he’s playing right now he
eventually finished 4
but some rain in the forecast a bit of
wind a golf course that really does
respond to around the green and
scrambling and you need a hot putter
that is definitely McKenzie Hughes the
other thing I like about him
is he has gained 50 places so far in
2024 if you compare his ranking for ta
green to what it was last year and he’s
also gained 40 places off the te he’s
not as short as you think McKenzie
Hughes he’s definitely in the top F well
he’s definitely over halfway when it
comes to driving distance all drives not
the straightest I’ll give you that but
you just see recently with him he’ll put
a good round together or maybe two
rounds together one week the driver’s
great one week the approach play is
fantastic one week the usual around the
green and putting if he can just mold
the overall performance together bear it
in mind he’s running out of tracks
really that suit him on the PJ tour and
if he wants to get into um Mike we’s
team international team for the
President’s Cup he is upwardly Mobile in
that I think this week is a huge
opportunity for McKenzie Hughes on a
golf course that isn’t too long for him
I got 45 to1 with William Hill next up
again another player I do like when the
scoring is low his two victories on the
PGA tour have been on we in weaker
events he won the 2021 barbasa B grass
Greens in Kentucky also won the 2022
Bermuda Championship those winning
scores 21 under and 19 under that won’t
be a Million Miles Away uh he was
seventh after the 54 holes last time we
saw him at the AR at the signature event
level RBC Heritage finished 12th the
game’s coming back together the pter is
warming he’s finished 9th 17th and 19th
here across his three attempts he comes
here every year to Dallas
he’s fourth in terms of Strokes gain
total for those players that have been
here and played more than once Sheamus
power can he be inspired by maroy and
Larry last week I think so a point each
way 60 to one I got eight places each
way with William Hill and
finally hits it I would say he’s not a
bomber um he hits it aggressively off
the tea and he’s relatively
straight great thing about this guy is
he ranks across the last eight
weeks uh let me just run you through
these numbers he’s in the top 25 for off
the tea top 12 for pting thank you very
much and top six for current form you
heard His Name a couple of times in my
rundowns I’ve grabbed him at 100 to one
and he’s in the top six Strokes gained
total current form across the last eight
weeks 100
to1 Matty Schmid the German eight places
each why I’ve got that with William Hill
on Matty Schmidt when you look at when
he goes
well 2022 barbasol B grass greens 20123
American Express in the desert that was
23 andar Sixth and third at the 2023
Bermuda Championship 21
underpar he’s in great Nick 26th at the
player 17th the V far he’s had a couple
of top 10 in Puerto Rico and corales
this level of tournament doesn’t scare
him it doesn’t intimidate him I just
think he could go very well this week
Matty Schmid the German and when you
look at his DP well to of performances
over three years all of the better
performances are on bent grass greens or
bent po greens that’s just fact so Matty
Schmid at 100 to one I’ve got Sheamus
power at 60 to1 McKenzie Hughes at 45
to1 with Adam shank 45 to1 and Min woo
Lee 25 to1 if you’re still with me at
banford golf on X of course like the
video 300 likes I need those comments

  1. I do feel for Ramey & Co who had to wait 3.5 hours to get to play off but couldn't be happier for Rory and Lowry this weekend. Lowry's joy about 400 fed ex points in his post win interview just about sums up the drive of these guys… Not about the money at all, all about the ambition..

  2. I will be all over Hughes and Scmid. Power seems to wilt toward the end of tournaments, but he has my eye too.

  3. with out the info on this show , it would be a lack of chance with out steve and the crew.. thank steve..maybe someday GEORGIA WILL HAVE REGULAR SPORTS BETTING.

  4. Great Content! My Sleeper is Peter Kuest (atleast for positional T-10) also CT Pan! My outright is Tom Hoge, KH Lee, Si Woooooo

  5. I was also thinking about Schenk. He did play well at the Masters. He's eventually going to win somewhere. Steve, what's the picture over your left shoulder?

  6. Great call on Sepp Straka at the RBC. I typically back your tips for top 20 … I have a feeling you have picked a winner at the Byron Nelson, I’ll go Mackenzie Hughes for the win, let’s see…

  7. 23m & 50s in i heard those magic words…. Seamus Power….. I been looking for a reason to back him and i think you just gave it to me… Ty and great show Steve

  8. Thanks Steve. Liking the 8 week tracker angle on Nate Lashley and Ryan this week. Also the Texas vibes with one of your selections Adam Schenk. Is the Pod going to be live every week now? If so great. Going to listen to it now, anyhow. 🏌
