third round action of the Genesis
Invitational the third signature event
of the Season $4 million up for grabs
for this week’s winner well how about
zand chule one of the low rounds of the
day started six shots back of our leader
Patrick Klay we find him now on 11
from
275 yd out able to fly it all the way
into the middle of the green and get
that to chase back onto the correct
level got up to a really nice start
today with two P for birdie moved to 10
under now just three back of the lead
well buela Tores also start of the day
six back he’s also three under through
10 now and
11 there are plenty of ways to make
birdie will Zur is forced to lay up
lovely W shot there spins it back to a
couple feet good to see him looking so
comfortable out there what a journey
he’s been on back to full health over
the last couple of months he moves to 10
under three back of the lead Klay now is
your lead on the par 10 we haven’t seen
much of this from Patrick Klay through
the first two rounds a little bit out of
position looks like he might get away
with it there for a while but the
Diabolical tth strikes
again he’s not the only one to have uh
seen this kind of thing happen I think
Tiger Woods had a very similar shot on
Thursday where it just rolled straight
off the 10th green so now his third not
an easy Chip Shot still well below the
green surface and he handles that one
very nicely but he does manage to avoid
a big number which is crucial in his
position he would save par and stay at
13 under so can’t they now on 11 his
second after a lovely t- shot splitting
the Fairway beautiful strike with the
Fairway metal from 261 yds out he too is
able to fly it all the way onto the
surface yeah nicely placed on the front
of the green two part birdie there for
Klay and he is back to four up over the
chasing pack now Xander shule is doing
as good of a job he can to get as close
as possible on the PA through 16th
Zander always been a wonderful short
iron player no different here you can
see there the cat’s watching this one
very closely Paints the flag all the way
another birie there forand he moves to
11 under three back of Klay well luk
list par up until now we find him on the
par 413 to Second not a great t-shot
missed the Fairway well to the right and
this was just a wonderful shot here does
a super job controlling the distance and
chases it up there to within a couple
inches of the hole what a shot playing
in that final pairing alongside Patrick
Klay today birdie there on 13 puts him
to nine under five back of his playing
partner catly now on 13 his second after
a lovely t-shot turned it around the
trees in the IDE deal spot and pays off
with a great wed shot there within 5 ft
another be from kentley would make
birdie moves to 15 under four up of
Zander meanwhile loot list back on the
par 34 here birdie putt the 14th hole
had given players fits but a lovely put
here from LC just catches the left side
of the hole and that was a super birdie
and he finishes his day at 11 under par
he’ll be three back of the lead heading
into tomorrow’s final round L now on 17
his second after a t-shot down the right
side of the Fairway creating a lovely
angle into that front right
flag and a super strike there chases
Into the Heart of the green two CS for
Birdie on 17 and shl finishes his day at
12 under two back of our leader
meanwhile zalatoris on 16 this for
birdie from 8 feet so great to see will
zorus looking so comfortable with the
poter perfect speed there down the Hill
and he’s got a good confidence about him
going at the moment yeah he hasn’t been
a comfortable watch over the putter over
the years but this is certainly a new
man now on the par five 17th for birdie
very difficult put Big Break left to
right and again perfect speed right in
the
middle and zalat Taurus finishes his day
at 12 under ultimately three back of kle
KL finding a little bit of trouble here
on 17 unforced eror there from Patrick
Klay you can see there he’s watching
that one not a difficult chip shot and
that would lead to a bogey on that the
easy par 5 17th yeah second bogey of the
day drops to 14 under but on 18 no harm
done came up a little bit shy with this
second shot but able to chip it up there
to a couple feet and
sa and Patrick Hunley is the man to beat
with that third round 70 he sits at 14
underpath start of the day five clear
now just two clear of the chasing pack
will alatus and and sander Shuley will
be his closest Chasers so let’s hear
from our leader Patrick Klay alongside

Dixon well Patrick Klay has a two- shot
lead heading into the final round of the
Genesis Invitational Patrick how would
you compare today’s round versus the
rest of the golf that you found at
Riviera Country Club yeah I didn’t make
as many putts today but uh played a
solid round of golf other than uh maybe
17 but in a good spot going in tomorrow
we mentioned that you’re a local boy
UCLA grad you had a lot of friends and
family out there this week can you
explain who is out here cheering you on
and uh how much that means to you yeah
we got friends and family out this week
uh definitely a number of ticket
requests um and a bunch of friends up
from Virginia country club uh Long Beach
area and and where I grew up in Los alos
it seems like you’re also going to have
a friend in the final group tomorrow and
your good friend Xander chafl he was
just up here we spoke to him and he said
he’s looking forward to it that you guys
battle all the time in practice rounds
that you guys kind of give each other a
lot of grief but from your perspective
uh what are you looking for forward to
most about going up against him in the
final round yeah it’ll be great um I
think we’ve played together in some
final rounds before um so it it’ll be a
real comfortable pairing and and uh you
know looking forward to it uh in terms
of approaching the final round from your
game mentally and mechanically what’ll
be the keys to focus on yeah I think
playing smart golf around here um you
know leaving the ball below the hole
when possible the greens are so fast
that you can get some good looks going
uphill um but it’s a golf course I’m
really comfortable on so um same game
plan as
usual so a third round 70 for Patrick
kentley not quite as low as he went in
the first two rounds but he really did
do enough to just keep himself in the
lead there had a winless season last
year so we’ll be looking to rectify that
how big of an opportunity is it tomorrow
for him oh it’s huge you know he’s still
got a two- shot lead it was five it is
now two but he’s still in a very
comfortable position he’s going to come
out with a very measured approach the
same way that he has these first three
rounds um wasn’t quite as clean with the
putter today um I really do I look for
Patrick Klay to get this done tomorrow
you’ve got the most confidence in him to
get it done of any of these chases yes I
do I do I think the fact that he’s
leading and that he has stayed to that
game plan hasn’t swayed at all I think
that that’s going to be been key for him
to get it done tomorrow what do you
think his game plan has been because he
has mentioned it a lot around Riviera
this week play play conservative when
you need to and then get aggressive when
you feel the time is right and take care
of the par fives and he’s done a great
job of that until until the bogey on S
but going into going into that 17th hole
they’ve been very strong on the P FS
okay so KL could well be the red hot
favorite but talking of the Chasers he’s
going to be playing alongside Xander
chuffle we know their history together
they’ve got a fantastic partnership
inside the ropes and outside the ropes
as well but Xander again a winless
season for him last year as well hasn’t
won since 2022 what do you think he’s
going to have to do what have you
noticed about his game that’s really
going to have to be firing tomorrow if
he’s going to get it done he’s going to
have to get off to a great start he is
to try and you know narrow that Gap very
very quickly it’s only two shots but if
Xander can get off to a really fast
start and you know let Patrick Klay know
that I’m there I’m I’m there I’m going
to be pushing you all the way um you
know Xander’s strong through the bag you
know he’s also a player that doesn’t
make a whole lot of mistakes he too is
probably going to come in with a very
solid game plan and won’t sway from that
too far might get a little bit
aggressive in points if he needs to if
he’s three or four shots behind at the
time but I think for the most part he
too will play fairly conservative uh for
the most when he needs to excuse me yeah
sh did a very good job of that today
started with an eagle on the first it
was a bogey for round of 65 also round
of 65 for will alatus he’s also just to
back hasn’t been in this position for a
while recovering from injury has he got
a chance tomorrow he does again needs to
get off to a great start and you know
he’s he’s done wonderfully well to get
himself back into contention this
quickly okay good stuff well the stage
is set it’s going to be an exciting
final round at Riviera Country Club
