okay big news out of Augusta Mason short
who is not short of course uh commits to
Georgia it’s a you know another good
gift for the dogs here’s Kirby uh with
Mason and uh look this is uh this is a g
for Georgia he had been committed to
Alabama uh some time ago I said Augusta
I mean Evans Augusta y’all can have that
y’all can have that fight but he he had
been committed to Alabama um until Nick
retired and then and then after that he
opened up um a lot of people thought
that he was headed to Georgia before um
he picked uh before he picked Alabama
but um you know nonetheless 66 300
pounds from Evans and um he said Georgia
is all about Brotherhood the other
schools are too but at Georgia they’re
big on having each other’s backs each
other’s back you can see uh that when
you watch games practices and in the
weit room he says about Stacy SOS he
says the guys love him
uh they see him as a funny uncle and
someone who has their respect he has
great relationships with his guys and to
see that is good I’m all about
relationships Mt theberry uh going on to
say his hands his his size and
physicality allows him to manhandle
opposing defenders in the area but his
impressive technique and overall
potential has made him a big Target for
Stacy Sirles and the Georgia staff I
have to say just as someone who knows
the Augusta area very well
I can’t remember last time a guust has
really put out somebody who’s been um a
really good player in college um it’s
been a while so um you know it’s not an
area it’s an area that’s more well
obviously known across the world for
golf but um in Georgia high school it’s
always it’s it’s been a basketball area
for a long time um but this will be you
know this will be someone that Georg is
adding a for you know consensus
four-star guy he is not um he is not a
Marius Mims he’s going to have to
develop um he’s going to be probably an
inside guy um and we’re going to get a
really good look at him in this fall and
be able to update that a little bit more
Evans is not that far from Athens at all
it’s actually an easier Drive than going
to to Atlanta so we’ll be at some of
those games but I think this is a great
example of you know
this is someone that Alabama had in
their cupboard and they lost him and you
know that’s just that’s not an ideal
situation for that program now it’s very
possible that you know Georgia should
have I mean he should have never have
been committed to Alabama anyway that’s
not really how it works no matter what
you got to go get the guys but this is
just one example of how um you know Nick
being gone matters in recruiting and of
course recruiting matters a lot and
recruiting matters in every everything
matters all right it do anything can
matter in recruiting but
um it this is a zero some example of
Alabama didn’t get him Georgia did so
there you go but uh look in in the grand
scheme of things you’re looking at a
Georgia program
that Contin and it’s not
surprising it’s not surprising that you
know Georgia is doing so
well excuse me on the recruiting front
um this is what they do um they’re
they’re not the number one team in the
country right now because they have you
know five commits and you’ve got
programs like Notre Dame with 19 or you
know Clemson with 11 or you know this is
this is what they do but over
time over time um you know Geor is the
cream’s going to rise to the top Georgia
Ohio State people like that that’s where
it’s going to be you know that’s where
the battle will be fought um on these
recruiting rankings but I think for for
the dogs uh this is
um this is The Logical conclusion of
what was going to happen with Mason SCH
if you ask me I mean it’s only there six
commitment now what what happens from
here on out cuz the calendar has has
once again changed a little bit in
recruiting stick with me here
um what we don’t totally know in in in
all of this is what you know what the
ramifications of the C football playoff
being so important in December the
signing all these things that are sort
of hovering around you know guys are
going to start pulling the trigger here
like from I would say from from April to
July 4th has sort of become moving
season now and it always has been that
way a little bit but it’s definitely
moving season now and so Georg is at six
right now I think for them to be at 16
before the season it’ll be no problem at
all I would imagine they’ be closer to
20 and you know just from rough math for
me you know they’re they’re at 85
they’re going to
lose that’s probably tennish guys right
there
um they’ll lose Starks um you know
they’ll probably lose 15 guy don’t I
mean listen the there’s no point in me
looking at the chart they’re going to
turn it over 30 30s something people who
are in the program right now will not be
in the program this time next year Mason
short will likely be in the program so
he will be one of 30ish guys who you
know have come and gone or will come and
some have gone so the the worry about
how many guys are gonna sign I mean that
works itself out that’s not as big of a
deal um that someone uh you know that
you’re grabbing somebody that had been
committed to Nick at
Alabama
that’s I mean that Georgia is getting
somebody at offensive line that means
they’re a really good player okay this
past uh this past uh group that Georgia
signed people at Georgia feel like that
is a
superb offensive line group like
that section of those guys that group of
guys let me I want to name all of them
so I don’t get it I don’t want to miss
anybody that group of guys could be a
very good basis for what the future will
be on the offensive line now I’ll say
this too like if you look at this year’s
offensive line you know who will start
so it’ll be truss rattled you know
probably I mean don’t totally know truss
rattled green you know will freeling
start will fail so they’re all in
different classes
um so that’s what happens but you know
you know you’ve got Calhoun D if you’re
not seen Calhoun he’s something else
Daniels who’s quite good Harrison
toer uh ueni uh
Easley this is a really good group of
six guys are coming in so um you you
need to consistently sign offensive
lineman that’s what separates programs
um or is line of scrimmage and half the
line of scrimmage is the offensive line
but people I trust uh in and around the
program love that group of um offensive
linemen I would
say just we got to see Calhoun a lot so
that that sort of prejudices us but we
we were not disappointed so I’ll just
say that but um you know with Mason
short he’s there there’s always
development that has to happen and you
know Matt here is talking about he’s an
excellent run blocker who stays engaged
when he locks on the Defenders yeah he
should be though I mean like that’s like
step one um you know in in in in if
you’re a SEC offensive lineman you
should be killing your high school
opponents and you know when you go see
well just go way back to John Theus or
am Marius Mims or you Andrew Thomas or
Jamari they were killing but Ben Jones
uh David Andrews David Andrews didn’t so
much kill people as they just could not
get around him so um that’s like the
minimum and what what will be more
difficult is what happens when you know
Jordan Davis is across from you or you
know right now Nazir or Warren Brinson
or Jaylen Carter or Trayvon Walker that
that’s what you’re dealing with in the
SEC
you’re dealing with Trayvon Walker being
across from you and then a play later
it’s Jordan so you ain’t pay you this
this pancake machine no that doesn’t
happen in this league like you’re not
pancaking guys you
know are you doing that three times a
game
like I I don’t I don’t I get to see the
offensive line a lot and it is usually a
just a total fight uh on the line of
scrimmage I mean that that guys aren’t
just getting wasted so um that’s the
thing is can you come in can you fight
can you mentally fight can you uh
develop what’s your pass Pro like you
know what there’s there’s so much stuff
and you’re talking about a 17y old 18y
old um body that’s going to be going up
against 21 22 year old and in some cases
23 year old men and it’s it’s just a
different game that’s why these guys
need time but he’s the uh a top 200
Prospect nothing shabby at all um not at
all um but Georgia picking up Mason uh
Mason short today from Evans and Evans
is AUST I mean like if we’re gonna if
we’re going to be so specific that’s
maybe more for for rich rich Richmond
and Evans to fight about as counties but
