Hendrick Motorsports wins on the 40th
anniversary of their first cup win as
William Byron wins again let’s talk
about Martinsville because we are here
for the speed I am DJ I’m happy to be
with you guys I’m joined by what’s up
I’m Jake big Hendrick Motorsports fan
good day for
me and it’s Matthew how Brad how’d Brad
do I that’s a great question I don’t I
was told he was wrecked out I don’t I
don’t I think he still finished but he
was junk yeah there was like four or
five cars that were completely junked it
was we’ll get into it’s in the show
sheet it was a weird one for sure I
don’t really want to talk about it cuz I
picked him for the fantasy league oh you
got spanked I had a rough week I will
say I did did I did good because I did
pick uh priest for my you know my last
pick so he did good wasent he was the
top 21 pick yeah Larson Larsson was my
other one so I did good with Larson but
then I had Brad and then I had TR
TRX let TRX her man that was kind of
shocking right very shocking I thought
he was going to put on a stom or today
he read the script it was a Hendrick’s
day HRI day I’m sorry stay home TRX yeah
um so I overall uh what did you guys
think of the race like overall
impression imp I kind of like how we’ve
been doing the rating you guys want to
rate it again like a top like out of 10
yeah one out of 10 yeah sure we can do
that um do you want to Matt do you want
to go or you want to wait until sure no
I can go it wasn’t a barn burner that’s
that’s for sure but I mean I don’t know
it had some good storylines there was a
little the third stage I felt was
probably the best you know there was a
little bit more strategy you could tell
a lot more with the pit Maneuvers and
everything but h i mean I’d put it right
at I’d put it closer to a seven I’d say
a seven that’s a lot better than I
thought yeah okay I mean it wasn’t it
wasn’t like a horrible race you know it
wasn’t like the worst but I’d say for a
Martinsville there’s a lot of good story
lines there was a lot of good I mean
honestly if you got to stare at a screen
for 4 hours you might as well have some
good paint schemes there were some good
paint schemes this week you know so I
mean there you go I’ll take it it’s
better than a lot of the other ones so
I’d give it a seven what was your
favorite paint Scheme oh Byron by far oh
by far yes I thought Byron was great
mine’s Josh Barry’s number four that
gold black that did look sweet oh the
mobile mobile one it was very nice very
nice although it was less gold in person
than it was on the DJ yeah I agree it
was you I think you said he needed gold
rims on that and it would have really
popped I’m like popped yeah yeah I I get
this guy in the chat 10 out of 10 Byron
wins let’s go hey oh okay well is that
you I’m gonna disappoint this guy I
thought it was like a three really oh
god well you did watch the whole
thing no I I to be honest we we did full
full disclosure it was on at a birthday
party so um there was a little
distraction but I would keep check
cheing back in and I’d look through like
the top 15 guys and I’m like all right
everyone’s still pretty much in the same
spot cool I’ll come back in like 5
minutes come back all right everyone’s
back in the same spot and there was very
I mean good once he started getting into
lap traffic I would I agree once it got
into stage three it did get better but I
mean like my I have for two 200 laps I
mean yeah I have problems with this race
because like for example Joey Lano on
their first Pit Stop he takes two tires
he doesn’t start running into problems
until I think it was what lap 70 in 78
no he he ran the whole 180 laps yeah it
was okay he ran all of stage one and
stage two on left side tires and I’m
sorry our tires should not be able to do
that I don’t care if they’re left sides
or
not miles not
NASCARs let me preface that I don’t
think these TIR darn you good year 90
miles how could you what is wrong with
you how dare you make a tire last longer
than that do we do we have a uh sorry I
haven’t looked this show sheet or
anything but Flying Blind do do we have
like a segment talking about tires kind
of one at the end about cars about the
car in general short track package a
question what’s your uh what’s your
rating so mine was probably a six um all
the Hendrick stuff was pretty cool so I
was put it like a six um but I think
that last restart did push me to like a
seven six and a half seven cuz that last
restart was good we saw some guys and
you know trick um trick calls on the
radio and U Co code word stuff like that
and then um I have it on the list but
I’ll talk about like you know Denny
Hamlin pitted like
why that was that was not the call I
think he was hoping more people were
going to pit or there was going to be
but if you know the three hind guys
aren’t going to pit what what are you
pitting for you only got two laps
there’s not a lot of time there no way I
mean tires were better but not that
better he didn’t want the smoke he
didn’t want a risk starting on the front
row again was he saving himself yeah I
think he was he was he like please
everyone just shut up there was a few
people that mentioned on Twitter that
the booze for Denny Hamlin this week at
Martinsville at the track were the worst
probably ever which is funny because he
had been trending down he’s been
trending down in the booze people yes
arguably there was there’s a mosquito on
your
face sorry just call me Mike Pence what
the
heck no uh so yeah that was I didn’t get
that that was a weird strategy call I
just yeah I I don’t know even if he
restarted fourth with four tires you’re
still not going to beat those three
hindry guys I maybe they were thinking
maybe they were thinking more
cautions who
maybe oh I don’t know who Oh you mean
the one that didn’t show for an hour and
a half yeah yeah the last one yeah it’s
on it’s on the show sheet we’ll talk
about it yeah there’s there’s trash um
so seven three I I’ll move mine up to a
four because the the HRI peer
pressure no but I mean like the
four and a
half uh no but the whole Hendrick thing
like that that is a cool story line and
everything so I’ll give it a little bit
more the race wasn’t wasn’t terrible I
mean it was better than
Richmond you know what it was twice as
good as Richmond and I’ll tell you why
Richmond there was one green flag
passord lead excluding pit Cycles right
Martinsville there was two was there two
I thought there was like three I I read
a tweet from a St statian he said too
twice as good twice as good as martville
or Richmond this is a the proof right
there there it is proofs in the pudding
next week Texas let’s see if we can get
the three oh uh so that guy that was
saying 10 for 10 he’s from Canada oh
what’s up Mark and Mark’s also in the
chat um he said he heard some Byron
booze when he uh walks over to get the
flag and he’s not sure what’s going on
with that like yeah who booze Byron like

Ryan he said Hamin would have wrecked
any one of those hendrik cars uh every
else got TI I’m telling you he got out
of it he’s like I am not going to be the
topic of for six more days let hendrik
get it I will be averted

to talk about like all the stuff that
happened this week on on and all that
stuff with Hamlin did you see that after
the whole second time it happened he’s
like again will somebody Please Release
a paint Scheme well after he freaking
stirred a pot oh my God I don’t know if
it was I it
was was after that whole deal with marus
Smith which we’ll get into yeah okay so
let’s move in let’s talk uh about the
different races this week let’s talk
about trucks unless you guys have
anything specific highlight really want
to talk about I mean trucks we watched
the truck race it was it was a cold
truck race I mean the most entertaining
thing was the hood flying up and the guy
like peeking through the vent I mean I
don’t know if he can see that well he
missed Pit Road
twice I’m giving it all she’s was I was
like why did he drive by and on TV like
I don’t think he can see where Pit Road
is he just drove right by it and I was
like oh God that sounds terrible halfway
through they showed all the spotters on
the on the top they all looked so cool L
miserable there was a uh they zoomed in
on Freddy and he looked so
miserable what’s his uh what’s his name
Brett is sitting there like see this is
why I don’t do trucks yeah basically
this is exactly why but no it was called
who wanton that Christian Christian ekas
yeah that was that was almost a
guaranteed he was his practice times and
everything were actually he once he kind
of had that pit stop where he came in
under the caution and like I don’t know
maybe like a third of the field kind of
took tires he he never came back yeah he
never recovered never got that track
position back and then we saw ekis kind
of do the same thing later playing a
little later strategy and dude he went
right through the whole field M yeah no
I mean it was just all in all I mean I
thought it was pretty good truck race
was fine it was just a wreckfest at the
end so Jason uh in the chat he says that
this was the worst race ever we need
more cautions and Carver our Canadian
friend is like you’re the worst Jason
ever oh
go oh you guys are hilarious Jason is a
friend of mine from work soar um so uh
yeah so I mean I don’t know I thought
the overall you know it was a pretty
solid truck race I mean nothing crazy
nothing it was Prett
I mean it was it was a cold I thought it
was pretty standard truck race you’re
going see a bunch of cautions and a lot
of beat and banging I mean there was not
a a truck race or truck car in that race
that did not have any damage every
single one of had body damage yep was
there anything else you guys wanted to
kind of highlight on that one I know
that there’s a lot to talk about with
exfinity oh Matt has some feelings I
missed like half of it man we went to
hockey you’re talking about xinity yeah
oh my God so to be fair it’s funny cuz I
know when I know when something ticks
Matt off because our show she gets
filled out for us it gets fairly vulgar
and it gets very vulgar and I look in
there and I’m like I see a whole
paragraph under the Xfinity section
there’s almost no punctuation it’s just
no it’s just clearly Matt is just there
on his phone just just Ty you guys had
to fill me in cuz I missed like half of
that race my phone died I I was like
telling Lind was like download the fox
ports app come on come on come on come
on I get I get all the way point we get
download get ready to go sign in the TV
provider and all that and it’s like all
right we sent a code to your phone I was
like no
oh that’s awful so then I had to get her
phone and I watched the onboard camera
of Eric Al marola who’s the only way I
could watch the last half of that that’s
pretty much all you needed I didn’t see
anything he showed out the front
windshield there was nothing there yeah
yeah I mean all in all I mean the the
the race was pretty much dominated by
arm marola yeah um he’s a veteran guy I
mean I didn’t expect anything less the
18 of Sheldon Creed he was a menace oh
my gosh this man he would have wrecked
his own mother for the win like if he
was there if he was there no doubt he
was taking everyone out he would have
rather wrecked the whole field wouldn’t
be the first time that Sheldon Creed has
tried to wreck fi try to get I was
absolutely shocked because Chandler
Smith you think he’s starting to crack
under the pressure now he’s in a really
good ride that wins a lot oh yeah oh
yeah has to be right has to be I I think
he’s honestly just tired of finishing
second that man has finished second more
than I think anybody I know I think it
the stats showed twice at Martinsville
twice at
Daytona um and then a handful of singles
like another five single Runner ups at
various other tracks yeah I’m like golly
so he was I mean he genuinely wanted to
win the race and I get it but he was
wrecking everybody didn’t matter if they
were faster than him didn’t matter if
they were a teammate he was he was Bull
bullying them there was no generosity
from that man the whole race so real
quick we do have a question about your
phone case it’s just a sticker on his
phone case oh yeah this is not a it’s an
otter box with a
sticker me and uh me and Matt went to go
work the xinity race where was a
homestead or Daytona dayt we went to
both but I think this was home was when
we either working Homestead or Daytona
they had these stickers for the I guess
like employees or whatever for staff so
when you go get your credentials we’re
like oh yeah and I saw Matt do it on his
I’m like I’m going to do the same thing
but I’m going to make it like this I put
mine on here really ghetto it’s not even
like
straight I was just I now it’s not
coming off yeah kind of honestly I think
I just stuck it on there because I was
like I can’t get it like the other way
so I’ll just do it long ways and then
you did it the other way I was like
damn whatever and I made sure mine’s
real nice it’s nice and I’m not I wasn’t
trying to distract everybody but I I
want to make sure that when people are
asking questions all in all I think the
80 81 had the best chance to get up
there and race the 20 and then Sam May
showed up and he had the best chance and
then Sheldon Creed ruined all the
chances
for everybody on the last restart that
man drove everyone what caused that last
wreck I thought it was Jones miss a
shift oh that was ear ear oh okay guess
miss the last wck yeah Brendon Jones
showing why be racing any race car ever
I don’t know why junior decided to hire
this guy he’s just going to I don’t know
but I think he’s looking I think junior
is finding his Replacements in all the
88 cars zero got be zero how much
Brandon Jones brings in is it Brandon or
Brendan
Brandon that sounded
absolutely that sounded like you Blended
them perfectly that’s was going for it
works Brandon Brandon so Brandon Jones
he has to bring in the same amount of
money he wrecks the whole field with
like there’s got to be no net gain to
this strategy I don’t know why they keep
picking this guy up I don’t know um we
did have um uh blay and the and cnri
were in the booth that was great yeah
their Dynamic was pretty good great cnri
I mean he’s sync’s kind of more of a
goofball but blay he had a really good
um tone throughout it and it was funny
at the end he was trying to call like
okay so the leader’s going to do this
and you know the real choice is second
or third and the leader armor Rolla did
the complete
opos what he said he’s like and that
folks is why I’m still
learning he was trying to be Kevin
harick there for a minute he was trying
really hard and it it didn’t work out
the way he thought but bow ties choking
off off the blood vessels to his brain
maybe yeah yeah it was kind of cool
though he every time they show him he
had a nice Sleek like black suit but he
had a Manards pin it really popped it
looked really cool I was like all right
all right we got to get you one I don’t
want a Menard’s pin I don’t like that
yellow but so I think just to kind of
recap xinity series as a whole uh a
Austin Hill RCR but mainly Austin Hill
started out super dominant super strong
Chevy super strong in the last couple
weeks Toyota has absolutely taken over
the expi Series yeah Chandler last week
at Richmond yep uh Alara this week and
then who won
Kota trying to remember uh I thought it
was another Toyota I could be wrong aler
I’m G be honest almond Dinger I thought
it was no it wasn’t it was
Larsson l l okay so yeah so I mean
they’re coming on strong man Joe Gibb’s
getting good yeah well they typically
choke out or we’re getting a signal from
Lindsay to look at your phone I don’t
know what that means signal from the
mother so I guess on Instagram they’re
asking uh do we think Chase should have
put the bumper harder to Byron I thought
they raced each other fairly I thought
that was fair for what considering
what’s on the line cuz right if a team
win is the most important thing has to
happen especially today I thought it was
pretty classy the way they it was hard
but not over the line yeah cuz you know
that like what’s going to happen if he
races pushes puts the bumper to him more
they both wreck and then Larsson maybe
gets caught up in it and then boom HRI
loses this win which is super important
to Hendrick so yeah I Kyle Larson was
there ready to sweep in and take care of
business I mean maybe I’m just wheel me
all part the plan Young Money here I
come oh my God I I don’t think Chase
ot’s in that pressure cooker yet because
he’s six in points yeah so he’s not in
bad shape I would
say I would say it went exactly how it
needed to go because of where Elliott
finished he got super loose after after
turn two he got super loose started
getting I mean what did he finish like f
third was it third or fourth I feel like
he got super loose you could see them
starting to push him up the track and
I’m I think he’s lucky to get third I
thought he was going to finish fifth
straight up so I think the way they race
really played to how their cars felt I
do think Bowman should have started on
the inside and absolutely puted or just
absolutely put Bubba out of the way you
know what I mean I mean that that’s how
that’s your pathway to get a Hendrick 1
2 3 4 yeah yeah but you know starting on
the outside of Row three
like I don’t think they want to mess
with bbba man B come out and start
pushing yeah wouldn’t be the first time
he’s done that I saw what you did to
lson I saw what you did to my friend all
right he’s

about positions so starting at the top
Willie be uh getting first Kyle Larson
well willly be right can we third win of
the season three out of seven out of
seven is seven including the
Clash no I don’t think so no it’s not a
Point Race stop doing that well I’m just
curious if we’re if you’re saying seven
no no I’m pretty sure it’s what I agree
Atlanta right and then you got West
Coast so you had Las Vegas Phoenix yep
am I missing a West Coast no no no there
only W Phoenix Phoenix and then it came
back to
brist wasmond yeah Bristol Richmond
marville oh we’re at eight okay so still
three out of eight still three out of
eight geez Lou I mean he’s on track for
10 this year he’s very much missing Kota
ah kota’s so nine yeah okay well now
it’s not impressive anymore it’s still a
third of the races no he’s he’s still
been pretty dominant no this was race
number eight okay we can’t count this is
this is race number eight I can’t count
I must have imagined a
race that’s okay um so yeah so William
Byron gets uh first place Kyle Larson
gets second can we can we read one more
sorry one more set because I want to get
into this real quick because there’s no
point to do this later yes so this
extends Bri Byron’s lead um with the
most wins in the Gen seven he leads at
11 wins in the Gen seven next is Kyle
Larson at eight jeez which is kind of
crazy when you think what was Byron
again sorry 11 11 golly so that’s
there’s been what uh how many races two
full seasons plus a couple so 36 36
that’s 72 Plus 8 so there’s been 80
races Byron’s won 11 of them so he’s won
like over one over what 12 one in every
eight races yeah so that’s like crazy
and then Lon has eight so that’s they’re
basically they’ve won a quarter just
with them two that’s why I keep picking
them crazy man Hamlin in third with
seven Christopher Bell has six that was
surp I was like holy crap cell goes on a
tear halfway through the year he he’ll
pop out like three or four wins he was
having a struggle today but yeah and
then Elliot Lago and reic are all tied
in fifth with five wins each that makes
sense so Hendrick straight up has a Brad
has not won in like six
years it’s been but that does put
Hendrick Hendrick has won a quarter of
the next gen races that’s awesome and
then and then you wonder why Ford and
Toyota redesigned their cars like every
year they do went the wrong way they
might have um all right so moving to
second we have Kyle Larson um he was
pretty solid all day long so he
dominated uh I mean I picked him I
picked him in my fantasy league cuz I
knew he was going to give me a stage win
yep and I was like if he can hold out
till the end great but I at least get
one stage win off of him third place
Chase Elliott a good solid finish for
them they defin had in a minute yeah
they’ve needed that uh number four a
little bit of a surprise not for me well
okay Mr I see the future um fourth plays
Bubba
Wallace I think I was the only one that
picked him right in the
fantasy Lindsay did you got him too she
copied your picks she proba she probably
she she reached out for help since she’s
in last she she phoned a friend um
number five uh Ryan blay he talked about
someone going back and forth good
comeback I heard I heard he was uh all
up and down through the whole race
through the whole race yeah well he yeah
yeah he was really bad in the middle of
the race really bad yeah wow like
sideways in there like he got his lap
back at one point and was back there
running with all the lap yeah go running
with all lap down guys and just door
bang and fighting to stay where he could
like he’s good at Martinsville that’s he
had a he had a penalty oh yeah yeah he
he hit his guy a little bit and and they
kind of because he was holding gear or
something like I’m pretty sure that’s
what it was Fox didn’t do a great job of
showing it

wow so um
they counted that as taking equipment
out of the box because he pushed his
team member over the line with his car
you’re not a person you’re equipment
yeah right basically what it was judges
your crew equipment so if you hit that
guy like a like a bug on the road is
taking equipment out of the box so
whatever but then so yeah so he had to
start at the back and had to come
through all the lap down guys I think he
did great he was in the Y yeah had to
come back to fifth yeah I mean who else
could have done that that that’s a hard
feat oh definitely uh who Alex Bowman
yeah you’re just riding this Bowman
train I’m GNA get it one of these days
boy all right uh moving on to number six
Joy Lano solid car all day long this
race puts loano back into the playoffs
after a rough start he’s now 14th in the
point standing he did have a rough
beginning it was a really bad beginning
this is the first time he’s been in the
playoff standings oh wow he has now
cracked the top 16 Joey what’s going on
St how’s that new Mustang working for
you number seven uh Tyler reic kind of a
quiet day but I mean this is a big deal
for reic reic is terrible on short
tracks really yes his statistics I was
listening to the um dirty Modo and they
talking about it yeah his statistics are
terrible on short track so that’s weird
because I I would assume being a dirt
guy you know he would kind of be better
on short I don’t know yeah they’re not
good so a good day for them hey yeah
number eight Alex Bowman Jake’s new
favorite
guy you’re so
stupid number I’ll get it one of these
daysys watch out I’ve been saying that
for
years Deja Vu number uh number nine Ryan
priest that man was the pick at the back
of the field yeah so the way our fantasy
league works is we have people we have
to pick in the standings first off it’s
the best way to do a fantasy league I
agree I’m just going to throw that out
there it’s it’s the best so one of the
uh what we do is that we pick two
drivers that qualify in the top 10 One
driver that qualifies 11th to 20th and
another driver that qualifies from 20th
sorry 21st and back and then your garage
pick also comes from 21st and back so
what that basically does is Ryan priest
obviously being 21st and back was our
low pick and to pick him and get a Ninth
Place finish that’s about as good almost
as good as you can hope for someone back
that far uh starting at least solid for
shr man they needed they needed a good
day and then number 10 speaking of shr
Chase Brisco Chase Brisco thought he had
the car to win he was saying that he’s
like if I can get up front I can hold
them off okay I mean we saw how that
worked all right but he did lead for
looks like five laps yeah during a pit
cycle oh no I’m sorry he led for more
than that uh he led no eight sorry eight
laps but yes it was during pit Cycles
yeah so I mean you know but still pretty
solid day uh you know shr definitely has
had a rough go for a little bit so I
think it’s good that they kind of had
where did daddy Noah finish uh that is a
good
question scroll Josh Barry got penalized
late so I know he finished poorly 20th
daddy Noah and 20th sorry
Jen yep uh oh oh Brad is in
24th he’s lucky he got that I’m telling
you he was trashed yeah SE okay hold on
go down Austin Dylan yeah bro what in
the world is going on Austin Dylan is
having a rough go of things this is his
worst year ever he’s going to Honda
going to Honda at this rate that might
be the only thing that can save him um I
don’t know I think he’s probably on the
way out in the next couple years or so
another one sure hope so dude um um
what’s the name of that team I can’t
remember Spire nope that one Daniel ham
Jos Williams no the team colleag thank
you I don’t know why that totally slip
my mind D they are so bad this year
they’re rough terrible terrible they’re
the new Rick wear they really are Rick
no they’re just Rick wear like cuz Rick
wear is actually fairly solid now with
well you see a lot of effort in Rick
wear
H and and running good and investing
they said they tripled the size of their
team um at the shop like they’re Rick
where is trying to really grow and you
know trying to partnering with RFK yeah
but um man freaking
colleague going the wrong direction yeah
not a good day at all um all right so
let’s move on um so obviously this is
our uh or I say R this was the 40th
anniversary of the very first cup win
for hendrik uh so this is was a huge day
for them they had about 1500 employees
uh past and present um total Co did you
see their big party deck hug and
honestly that was a spot to be super
cool that they um that Byron went over
there did part of his burnout over there
that was super cool you know it’s got to
be cool when they’re sitting there like
I worked on that car you know it could
you guys did that yeah but like oh you
know oh man that would be so cool can
you imagine the roller coaster they went
through in those last five laps oh God
like like he’s walking away with it
you’re like yes this is what we wanted
yes yes oh not a caution like that’s you
saw uh they they showed um Jeff uh Jeff
Gordon dude he stands up it’s like takes
his hat off and he was I’m sure there
was a lot of words there that we can’t
repeat on this show but oh man what a
roller coaster like then it then you
come down you know or they come down are
they going to pit are they not there’s
code words being used and all that fun
stuff and then he still gets the win and

the end of the the race after the
caution comes out they’re doing overtime
so we got two laps Denny Hamlin they
decide to do Quarter Pounder I guess
which basically means jeez comes in come
in take four
tires what what was that about that was
a weird play and he was like him and
like what two other cars came down yeah
two guys in the way way back two more
Toyotas he went from what fourth fourth
at that time yeah fth fourth came out in
10th 10th yeah I just I don’t get that
at all yeah you know they have they have
such a good program like they have an
opportunity to try to get a win again
and just kind of threw it away yeah like
I don’t get it I don’t know I don’t know
if they were thinking that maybe you
know there might be more cautions so
maybe you know I don’t know you got to
think though like if you’re in fourth
the three Hing guys most likely are not
going to wreck each other for the win
exactly you know what I mean you’re not
winning and then on top of that if those
three don’t go in then then you’re not
you’re not going to outrun three four
cars on new tires you’re just not yeah
not in that short amount of time no if
you had 10 laps maybe like but even then
I think that’s that would still be a
hard uh a hard task to do at that point
um so the other there’s a lot of
different like things about the spe the
race specifically that we’re trying to
go through so uh two green flag passes
how many cautions like actual cautions
did we have this week I think it was two
two natural cautions two stage cautions
right I didn’t see the first one but the
the they say the first that 180
something lap green flag run was the
longest at Martinsville since
1996 trash yeah I mean you say that but
it’s a lot of good data for the teams
it’s basically practi you find the find
the posited in it you know you got 100
what 180 laps green like that’s great
for the teams to start getting long run
speed or you know something of that
nature trash you know I trash trash
you’re trash that’s just not what short
track racing is supposed to I think I
think the ba the best way we can sum
this up was like I said earlier with the
whole legano and his left side tires
lasting so long like I mean that’s part
of it yeah I think that’s that again
shows that we got to work on this tire
I’m serious we are going to start a
campaign to free the brist still Tire
bring it out we have got to find it go

to I was like trying to get a tire and
honestly the graphic itself that it made
was cool the problem was I was trying to
get a slick NASCAR tire no this was like
some off-road treaded tire and I’m like

literally like an off-road tire and then
it was like okay uh uh racing Tire slick
tire no tread Tire nope tread every
single time it just could not figure it
out so I think honestly if good Year’s
not going to change it up bring back
other manufact bring somebody else dude

who does F1 F1 is pelli pelli pelli they
can figure out more than one tire even
indie car can figure out more than one

has gone totally green on most of their
areas of their industry so a bunch of
the uh oils and you know chemicals and
things they use that would make a really
good tire that would wear out they’re
gone they can’t use that material

so the problem is now we just have a
tire that’s just too clean and just

lay down rubber this is like the first
race we’ve seen all year where the track

180 laps of green flag racing and as
soon as they had a caution it was all
gone yeah the cars picked it all up yeah
like I don’t know man if good Year’s not
going to bring bring back tire that’s
going to work even if it’s not green or
whatever they got to do something cuz

the clash and the All-Star Race be like
hey we’re going to look at another tire
manufacturer or it’s well you have a
contract right now hear me out let’s get
more power in these
engines at least burn them up try it

going to go green on the tire but we’re
going to burn a lot more F to make it
work absolutely perfect this is
NASCAR um so I think it’s pretty obvious
that so far this year um hendrik and
Gibbs are obviously the clear favorites
yeah so that’s to Jason and mentioned
that um you know are we not going to
talk about Gibbs being how good they’ve
been yeah Gibbs and Toyotas uh 2311 is
way up I I would almost put them if it’s
not for Denny Hamlin you take Denny ham
out of the equation 2311 and Gibbs are
equal I think Denny Hamlin gives them
that little bit Edge just being good as
he is um but yeah I mean they’re they’re
the two clear favorites give me another
team that’s even close

are the interview it’s three interviews
of top three and boom coverage is over
and then you got to go find it on a
different Channel or whatever but it’s

technology and bring this into the new

partner together on some of that

not know who Marcus Smith was oh really
so I had to look that up because I was
like who is this guy like does this guy
just dictate who gets repaves and who
doesn’t and I looked it up I was like oh
yeah no he definitely does so to have
beef with this guy like could you
imagine if he’s like oh I just want to
let you know like just don’t show up to
my tracks bro could you imagine so for
those who don’t know Marcus Smith is the
owner of SMI so basically NASCAR owns
half the tracks SMI Speedway Motor
Speedway Motorsports Incorporated owns
the other half Bristol
um I think Martinsville own Charlotte
right Char Atlant Bristol
Sona Texas a bunch of these tracks are
owned by by Marcus Smith he’s a he’s a
big dog he’s with uh North wilksboro too
right yep yep you imagine if this man
was just like yeah Denny just you know
what you’re done for the season don’t
show up to my tracks whoa I mean can’t
but he could I mean he owns them yeah
but Nascar has a a contractual
obligation with the charter system
there’s always a loophole I’m just
saying tring order there’s a good enough
lawyer out he’s been trespassed from the
property basically that’s what I’m
saying it didn’t get that bad but it got
close so so anyway um yeah so basically
where where it started was I was Marcus
Smith posted post no it wasn’t it was
somebody else posted a part that the
somoma repay part of the asphalt coming
up and yeah they and it was super thin
it was a pretty shoddy Paving job it
looked like that that area so in they
have repaved the whole track at Soma
which is a road course out in California
for those that may not you know know um
but that um yeah so basically it’s a
basically a pothole like a huge pothole
it was already coming up in on this and
they just finished Paving two weeks ago
three weeks ago maybe a month ago yeah
it was not long ago um so someone shares
that it kind of goes around people are
sharing it and stuff like that well
Danny Hamlin who cannot keep his mouth
shut about anything decided to say
something to the effect of well this is
what happens when you basically try to
cut Corners when you try to pave on a
budget pave on a budget so this is a
clear shot at SMI who um SMI like NASCAR
the way the TV deal works out the the
tracks get a pretty good chunk of the TV
Revenue yes so this is a clear shot of
that because they do a in Denny’s
opinion a cheap repave while they’re
collecting one of the largest
percentages of the TV
right so this goes all back to the
reason why he’s taking that shot is
because the teams are trying to get more
money from Nascar from the new TV deal
and the new Charter agreement that’s
going to supposed to come into effect
next year and most likely that’s coming
from the tracks the the difference yeah
NASCAR is not going to lose any money so
they’re going to probably take money
from the tracks and give it to the teams
that’s the only way it’s going to
probably have to work maybe NASCAR gives
up a couple percent I don’t know but
there’s got to be a whole new deal so
anyway anyways like Denny shoots at
Marcus Marcus replies back like you
shouldn’t talk about something you have
no experience in blah blah blah Denny
fires back again I forget exactly what
he says but then like Sav it do you want
it yeah yeah Sav it yeah don’t make me

when you have a chance maybe you can

I think it gets serious this gets like
pretty rud was that an invite what was

talks about he had heard uh Dale Jr
making some comments about Bristol and
now it needs to be paved and he’s just
like he knows that when people like with
that much pull on social media for them
to reach out and say something is just
like a hint of something else going on
and they’re trying to make something
happening so he said that was like one

this whole spat with Marcus smid and U
Denny hen he said he also got a phone
call saying the negotiations between the
teams right now is really bad and to be
clear not not team not team to team team
between teams and NASCAR yes so the
teams have the um so a driver Alliance
or yeah the team Alliance I forget what
exactly what it’s called but um
basically it’s a union it’s their Union
basically you know they it helps like um
I forget uh somebody was saying like you
know they can help make deals with gas
and oil companies like Hey we’re all
going to be going over to this place you
know we’re going to spend this much fuel
and they help get deals on hotel rooms
and fuel makes a lot of sense but then
they also negotiate the deals like with
the charter agreement wasn’t Kevin
Harvick like the lead point on that at
like one point he he was like one of the
main figures but Jeff Burton is the is
guy yeah that’s right so yeah so there’s

tension a lot of tension well I mean

tried to invite um NASCAR NASCAR they
tried to invite Jim France to a meeting
to sit down and they shut him down yeah
they said no we’re not coming because
NASCAR is basically said here’s the deal
take it or leave it okay and when
everyone leaves so that the rumor mill
is from what I’ve heard from different
Ventures I’ve been on can’t say where uh
it sounds like especially if NASCAR goes
to Mexico if there’s no Charter deal the
teams are not going to go or Canada or
anywhere they may just flat out boycott
The Clash and not
go at all and then then there is the the
other rumor is everybody will probably
run the 500 because that’s the main
payday and then after that they may
boycott the next
race the next points paying race which
would well they haven’t announced next
season That’d Be Wild it’s crazy man
it’s honestly really crazy so I I think
we are I think we’re a little bit on the
front edge of this but if it keeps
trending I mean it it could get bad and
that’s a problem like we’re going down
to cart Indie Car territory where they
split and things got real ugly and the

good Resurgence of popularity been doing
really good been overall a good season

there was i’ out of what the eight races
nine races we ran there’s only two that
were kind of like I really did not want
to watch this yeah yeah which for we
have three or four we have three that
were great for sure two that were pretty
good and maybe two that weren’t that and
we’re fairly optimistic about Texas I
really think Texas might be could be it
has trended better every year the first
year was terrible and they are doing
this at a totally different time of year
too and that could vastly affect the
track yeah this is way earlier right did
it run this early last no wasn’t it
right before the playoffs or in the play
no it was in September cuz I almost went
for my wife’s birthday was hot and it
was H it was like 100° it was like 140
in the cars and then they had to get out
to fire wear a cowboy hat shoot guns
like with with giant Flames all behind
them I could only imagine like passing
out there yeah so I I’m I’m pretty
optimistic for T Texas this week which I
didn’t think I’d say that I still think
Texas is going to well we’ll talk about
this later uh what else so yeah
basically the whole for Kenny Wallace to
post that and kind of say that he he was
very much you had a read between the
lines but to me and kind of being around
some of the industry guys and kind of
seeing how they talk about things
without saying too much yeah this was a
pretty big red flag of what’s going
what’s about to happen about what’s
going on it could it could be anyway

it’d be a shame if that happens cuz
that’s going to kill all the moment that
they have built over the last couple

selling two charters yes why would you
buy a charter right now if it may go

you’re guaranteed a starting Sport and
you’re guaranteed certain amount of
money based off of how you finish in the
standings at the end of the year it’s
basically all about money yeah right so
that’s all the charter is but it’s
guaranteed Revenue which which what
makes it valuable yeah so supposedly
seart hos is leaving Ford and they are
selling two charters what is going to
happen to their drivers so Chase Brisco
is on a contract year so he
gone okay to me who you GNA keep I Josh
Barry you can sell the sponsorship out
of that guy no problem Noah Gregson you
can sell a ton of sponsorship Ryan
priest and Chase Brisco run a lot of
steuart hos cars a lot of hos tooling
hos automation cars that’s true so I
think they’re funded Chase Brisco I
think he’s gonna be safe he’s he’s like
the money boy there man he’s like their
Elliott like he does he does pretty good
on sponsorship Mahindra I mean Ryan
priest I get it Noah gregson’s kind of

how different this is actually from uh
from a friend of ours my brother
actually uh he said how different is a
setup between a track like Martinville
and Daytona and and a track like Daytona
and Talladega with the uh NASCAR gen 7
car they’re actually not different at
all it’s the exact same set
up do not listen to that so all the
parts and pieces are all the same you’re
allowed to have different shocks you’re
allowed to have different Springs you’re
obviously allowed to run different tire
pressure um and you can set your track
bar and your wedge and different things
like you can set that differently other
than that it’s pretty much the same uh
the spoilers obviously different right
spoiler Greenhouse the no I think it’s
the same the strikes are the strikes
different uh well yeah with the new
short track package yes the strikes
diffus on the back like the inside of
the car and like the motor and
everything besides how they reduce the
horsepower with the taper spacer like
it’s pretty much it’s to like the
average fan that doesn’t know that much
about it yeah it’s the same car oh
probably camber right camber and toe
yeah I’m about you can change setup
stuff like that I mean I don’t know
specifics but yeah here and there you
know little stuff like that obviously
the body’s different super speed is
going to no the body’s identical really
panels frames the whole identical with
the exception of the spoil it’s
different than like the Xfinity car
which is pretty wild cuz like the
Xfinity has different bumpers I didn’t
even know this they had they have
different front ends for different
tracks that’s why that’s why I’m getting
I had no idea I did not know that yeah
so that was one and then like like our
bumper over here like that’s a mile and
a half cuz they run a mile and a half
setup with a tapered spacer at Atlanta
oh that’s wild so the Super Speedway
bumper has less profile mhm interesting
I didn’t I didn’t know that till we
showed up they had more brackets too yep
yep so there’s more strength there’s
like in the Infinity car there’s a lot
more uh roll bars in a Super Speedway
Car yes and the oil reservoir is in a
different spot and it’s away from the
driver uh stuff like that I me kind lot
of different stuff like that and then
depending on the track like if they’re
going some real hot say like Texas like
last year they run different cool boxes
and stuff like that like I’m sure like I
think they had a fan but there’s no cool
box and all that like in the the DGM
cars this week because it’s not it was
going to be cold there’s no need like
the the other big difference obviously
is ride height you know obviously super
spe part of all your setup Super
Speedway you’re going to obviously have
that thing all but basically glued to
the bottom you may have you know
something like Martinsville it’s a lot
bumpier you’re probably going to have a
little more room uh so yeah I mean
definitely the same car but very
different setups all right and the last
question we got was how do we fix the
how would we fix the short track
package where’s the Bristol
Tire where’s the
myth um I mean
honestly if you can’t mess with the car
and the car is already so good to drive
there’s only very few things you can
change there’s not a lot of variables
it’s either going to come down to
horsepower or tires that’s it yeah
there’s not much
you you talked about they could thin out
the tire they could make the tire a
little more narrow they could I think
that would help um but instead of doing
that redesigning all the rims all that
nonsense you can just make a different
tire they’ve proven they can do it do
that I I think it just comes down to the
car is just way too good way too good so
you have to make the car harder to drive
and less reliable less less um maybe not
less reliable I think that’s reliable no
I think you can literally slam and drive
the car as hard as you can every single
L you don’t save the car at all B is a
proven example you cannot do that well
that’s bill bill has a problem he’s
blown up more wheels and rims and brake
rotors than anyone else no but but you
you drive I mean you hear the driver say
it all the time they drive every lap
like a qualifying lap you drive you
drive it all out balls out every lap yep
every lap so so like that’s a problem
there’s no saving the stuff there’s no
saving Tire there’s no horsepower to
make you save Tire the brake rotors are
huge they have incredible braking Dale
Jr said it multiple times they should
run a smaller rotor or smaller pads make
the car break way less take a lot of
braking power away from it and then make
a tire that wears so you have a lot of
off off throttle time you know so that
that those are the couple things like I
think honestly a smaller break a a less
performance a a lesser performing break
um package would do a lot a lot a lot
it’s kind of funny when you think about
it because like in NASCAR like you look
at other racing series and they’re
always figuring out ways to like go
faster and improve the car and NASCAR is
like listen how do we make this car
worse no but they’re not with a gen7
they tried to make it really really good
and they made it really really is a
really good car I so sorry before you go
I’ll just throw my two cents in and then
I’ll let you go I think
um why’ you stop I don’t know yall
making fun of me like um I think and I I
know this is not as feasible as it as it
could be but I think a thousand
horsepower engines I think they have you
need to be at 1,000 horsepower one for
the marketing that’s never going to
happen it’s not but this is my choice so
uh th000 horsepower engines bring back
the Bristol Tire narrow the tire God a
th000 horsepower and a bristle tire no
make it three laps go no that’s probably
a little much but um no I think 1,000
horsepower um is probably what I would
do that’d be my first thing because if
nothing else try it see what it does
because that’s the one thing I feel like
we haven’t really tried is a
considerable amount of power we’ve tried
like a little bit here and there but
it’s not not enough to I think give it a
fair Shake but I think give it another
several hundred horsepower yeah let’s
try that first and see what it does
because if that doesn’t work well then
power won’t fix the problem then we know
for sure part of the equation I I agree
but I it the the problem is the cup car
they went from like back in the day like
Gen 4 Gen 5 the power to rate ratio was
incredible the car was heavy but the
power was ridiculously way more yeah but
now we we are completely the opposite
direction with the car is still heavy is
all get out but there’s no power yeah
you just don’t have power for the size
tire that they have not for the size
tire and the suspension and yeah no they
just don’t have enough I have a huge
conspiracy oh je and I called J this
year earlier this week I think NASCAR is
so hesitant to either change the tire
change the engine change the brake pad
because they are all in on trying to
figure out this wet weather package and
they cannot go to a track that is quote
unquote acceptable with wet weather or
at the point of close enough and bring
oh we’re going to you know we’re going
to bring 750 800 this week and then you
can’t change
it they they have to limit what they can
because they’re all in on this wet
weather package and that that’s it you
know I think that’s why they they
haven’t said anything because they want
to figure that out first they want to
get more races in they don’t want to
worry about the weather um but they’re
going to they’re going to keep the
horsepower down they’re going to keep
the tires hard and they’re not going to
change the brake rotor those three
things will affect the wet weather
package I’m going to be honest I didn’t
really consider the wet weather package
when I said my thousand horsepower cuz
that sounds really stupid you yeah could
you imagine weather Tire with a th wet
weather Tire wet weather th000
horsepower you can’t change the
horsepower perfect you know the
horsepower is what it is when you show
up to the track they they don’t have
enough time to swap out the engine plot
twist all-wheel
drive yeah now you’re at the Eevee
series stop so that’s my consy I think
NASCAR is trying to go all in on a wet
weather package so they can rain in I
think Cory Le Joy said it a Sprinkle
Tire um sprinkle tire is that hilarious
like well we won’t RA in the rain so
we’re going to call a Sprinkle tire but
they have to have the horsepower lower
and they have to have strong breaking
that’s the only way they’re going to be
able to get it going have it so then
make AAR a conspiracy theory so then
make a narrow retire or
find the brain works sometimes it’s not
very often all right so this has been

they’ll be on edge the whole time Texas
is super fun on iRacing super fun cuz
you literally are wide open all the way
through the track except for one and two
so you just kind of got to get cornered
into one and ters right then you’re
literally drafting track all the way
around until you do it again it’s it’s a
lot of fun fun that one is fun how many
drivers do you think can actually do
that on this track or racing what five
do what you just said it it’ll be the
whole field I don’t think they’re all
going to be able to do it I think
they’re going to wreck oh yeah yeah yeah
yeah of course know there’s a lot of
drafting elements in the truck race for
this race so I think it’s I’ve the last
couple years I’ve enjoyed the Texas
truck race I I don’t remember remember
that guy remember that wreck last year
that guy AR had ARCA breaks the guy was
wrecked sideways on the front stretch
and the dude just plows into him like
120 I don’t remember that I do remember
that that was nuts what in the world
that was stupid that was so bad cuz
there was like what was it like 5
Seconds like it was plenty of time and
then another guy piled into them like
what is happening paying attention
where’s these spotters dude
yeah makes you wonder I don’t know I
think the Infinity race would be kind of
mid might be good the xinity rates to
Texas cuz it’s so slick and the cars are
so kind of loose and slick they’re kind
of kind of eh but I think the like I
think the Cup race might actually be
really good yeah I mean it could be
first M half of the Year second oh
second second second good try I keep
forgetting about Las Vegas was a great
race for not that memorable I guess
Larson won he dominated the whole thing
it wasn’t that bad all right guys well
