The Riviera Country Club will once again play host to the PGA TOUR’s best as The Genesis Invitational tees off this week. The Genesis Invitational is the first of three player-hosted invitationals (along with the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament presented by Workday). Tiger Woods is the host this week but will also be in the field. This will be his first start since the Masters Tournament in 2023 – where he withdrew after the third round. Last season’s Genesis Invitational was his last full four-round effort on the PGA TOUR before injury. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returns to action after a strong finish in last week’s WM Phoenix Open. He claimed T3 in his attempt to become the first player to three-peat on the PGA TOUR since Steve Stricker in 2009-11. Scheffler finished 12th at The Genesis last season. Rory McIlroy is set to make just his second TOUR start in 2024 after a T66 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. This will be McIlroy’s eighth start at Riviera. He finished 29th last season and claimed a career-best of fourth at Riviera in 2019. Others to look out for are Viktor Hovland, Max Homa, Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele.

And the numbers bear it out that’s the way to play it these days back to the first Eagle put on the way for Max just under 40 ft coming back yeah what a start pass champ with an eagle right out of the gate to get it to six under which is

Only 408 yards to two herim matama has a pot coming across the green birie and there’s a three as it drips over the front edge at the second shle From the Rough oh good looking oh how do you do that from [Applause] there and as I mentioned in that fifth

Fairway you could feel the wind you can’t feel it down here but you got to think above these trees it’s up there so a lot of trust goes into hitting the shot this is right at itot about right in watch play the opening half dozen or so holes Today at one point had it to a couple under and pulling the string oh that had be Gary good over a foot of rain and the course is primo you would never know what they went through just a short while back we’re over at the sixth hole and hogi

Day now Scotty shuffler coming off of a three put bogy at eight can he follow Fleetwood in there sure these guys won’t know exactly how close it is hitting from the bottom of the hill responding Scotty shevet that’s a strength let’s go to seven H

Big oberg on the way here from 165 the par four right at it oh yeah pause just lets it go it did have a chance it does play Four Yards downhill though so they’re just going based off the that sort of number they figured it out they got they

Got four yards downhill in the book four yards downhill was talking to him earlier he was working with his cat er to AR on the practice putting green and that’s what he was doing he was using a device called the perfect putter to help him out and it has really helped him out

Couple of birdies to begin this third round for [Applause] Harris we didn’t get to see it but that was a thing of beauty man lud big he’s found the Fairway here at the fifth yeah short on down the hill very accessible ho location things in his favor

Release oh look out that’s how you do it is that going to go in oh that is a TA in Adam Scott here at the 18th super quick down here got here with the sponsors exemption from Tiger to get into the field of the signature event come on keep

Turning Adam Scott with a birdie at the 18th what a roller coaster sick inside for him look at that just two paws but a beautiful [Applause] round going to put this back in his stance he’s able to get great contact on it however just cannot miss long here

That’s the only spot you cannot miss and that is not long that is perfect perfect no one will ever know what that ball was sitting in yep he two a birdie at the first 44 is a good start here doy it certainly is oh and that’s very nicely played for

Luke Le chance to start [Applause] 43 this put just turn the lift as it slows down this one goes the other way that’s what F Tom Kim why he looking at second one coming backing talking 25-footer he can roll It dead center perfect speed Tom Kim back at nine all right Jason Dave Let’s see we got another one right at the flag stick t- shots are trying to get out of here with with the P that is nice making the cut at the Genesis now zator at the

Ninth seems to be line oh yes talk about comebacks there’s another one but I will say this a lot of slope that one peeled off at the end at 13 that’s Luke blist his second shot that’s a nineiron headed at the center of the green but turning over

Frank oh this is s shot look out take the Bell that right R again one of the better ball Strikers on tour as well will zorus good to see him back so interesting to hear him talk about the changes he’s had to make in his

Swing as a beauty he says he plays the ball position so much further forward now than what he used to before the surgery let’s go to 14 well said he here for two birdies in a row luk list that was a seven error to finish it off

Second birdie of the day daddy that’s been a tough hole [Applause] that’s big that’s big over at 17 now this is uh well it’s a pretty easy uphill put for Jason day it’s in the hole for Eagle easy indeed for some that’ll motivate you [Applause] just six

  1. An emotional sojourn through storytelling mastery; laughter and introspection seamlessly interwoven.😘

  2. Ryder Cup villans Zander and Cantalay leading. Tiger out,Jordan out, JT out. SSG learning you can't have all stars on weekend

  3. These guys are just throwing darts and draining really long putts. Golf has become too easy, talent too good or course setup to make both shine.

  4. they need to make courses more difficult for pro tournaments. it's no fun to watch anymore.. Birdies are the new norm. Pros can hit the ball so far and make birdies on most holes

  5. Ive never understood why putts get highlighted so much. Id rather watch someone reaching the green in two than them making the 10ft putt for that eagle… Its the second shot that was more of the highlight or special.

  6. I turned it off earlier when Gary Woodland was primed to talk about Tiger Woods. They just can’t see him not play. Many fans are tired of the whole thing. Jim Nantz must be paid to endorse a guy who had the flu. I had the flu too but oh wait…..my name isn’t Tiger. Lol
