Off the tightest Turf in the Middle East clean clean clean and I think a part of that rigs was all about the takeaway right and we see a lot of players they are in the pursuit of this mentality around a one piece takeaway okay and we

Would see a variety of moves of people trying to achieve this such as keeping the golf club long and low away from our body like this yes they might even use an alignment stick but we do see players take this a little bit too far sometimes

Don’t we we certainly do and what would be some of the negative outcomes that we would see players in pursuit of this one piece takeway what would they tend to have the appearance of in the back swing I think the main one is the player that’s trying to feel like their back

Swing is generated all with body rotation M the club just swings low and inside too far the club doesn’t travel up enough correct so everything is technically one piece in that case yeah okay they’re not using their wrists too early but they miss an element of vertical they’re not getting the golf

Club to work up enough and they need to start understanding that they need some wrist they need some load between the club and the arms to get the club to work on plane and I think think a lot of this stems from players hearing the phrase of oh your takeaway is too quick

It looks too snatchy yes and they’ll see the club head go behind themselves so they go okay well now I’ve heard about a one piece takeaway of where we try and move the club head the hands the chest all together and yep that looks really good me slow and static and moving in

Position but before you know it 3 weeks of doing this and then their whole golf swing exactly tends to move in that direction correct so for these players we’ve got an alignment stick here very fancy one with your name on it love it what are we going to do with that to

Encourage a better one piece takeaway okay so I’ll slide this alongside the grip you can just have that running under the hands there the hands might feel a little bit awkward for the the first couple swings but you’ll adapt yep now the task I’d give you is for the

First foot of the takeaway still feel like you’re using your chest you’re using the upper body to start moving now this should feel like it’s staying in contact with you initially okay okay so this is a good sign of connection okay you haven’t allowed your arms to swing

Away from you if you had the stick’s going to be off the body so you’ve stayed connected through this first part of the takeaway and I’d only have you get to about there okay fantastic fantastic so stick up against the side of the shaft shaft touching pretty much

Just above the hip or on the Belt Line would you say exactly exactly and then from there I’m using my torso to initiate the back swing but I went too far there just a little one to this point keep it in contact so the piece of

Feedback that I give players is as soon as your hands make it to your Trail thigh it’s now time to start loading through the wrists and if we start creating a hinge movement in the wrists what we’re going to find is is that this stick is going to slide down your lead

Thigh great I love that feedback and this is going to solve a variety of poor movement patterns from players such as the rolling of the club head the lifting of the arms the separation because this is going to move off the body straight away so getting that feedback of it

Touching the lead side the left side for the right hand or at add address from there using the Torso to start the back swing as the hands are in front of the right leg as rigs was just saying there we’re now going to feel that we’re going

To hinge our wrists and let this slide down my lead leg now do I do this until Club shaft is about parallel here yeah exactly so you’re you’re now going to continue to rotate we’re still going to add in a little bit more of that loading

And we’re going to be in a great spot yeah that feels really good right so let’s talk about the pattern that if the players do do this what could they possibly get wrong so they’ve got the stick up against the lead side they get to a foot from here and then what would

You say that you’ve seen with your online lessons players generally tend to do from this section of the Swing they just keep it in contact for too long that’s always possible sometimes it’s nice to have an objective in terms of how deep or inwards we want the hands to

Travel in the end when we get to the top of our back swing we’d like to see that these hands end up somewhere around this heel to ankle line so having some form of a benchmark there is quite helpful yeah you will see golfers some who might

Get their lead arm working too in and you might see some who just too far outward yeah perfect and one last little checkpoint here that I want to bring awareness to is the actual direction in which the stick is pointing by the time that the uh lead arm the left arm for

The right-hander is level with the ground so this section of the Swing here where should this be pointing for the players so from the address I’m going to let that stay connected slide down and then from there we’ve got a club on the ground what what are we doing here as we

Continue to rotate and have the arms travel up we want to be pointing this somewhere around that ball to Target Baseline preferably just a fraction inside of that absolutely absolutely now uh we’re not going to go into the specifics of why having it slightly on the inside of that Target line and not

At it is more preferable because a lot of players would try and shallow their back swing so they could get on the way down but essentially it just keeps you a little bit more connected more so they’re not okay so look one piece takeaway it is a fantastic exercise for

A lot of players who do tend to have this regripping and this pulling where the golf club is moving separate from the rotation of their body so grab yourself a stick like this guys place it up against the lead side lead hip here little movement to start the back swing

About a foot or so now from there we’re letting those wrists slightly hinge staying in contact and as rigs was saying we’re going to continue to turn keep the stick pointing just inside that ball line now working this into the golf swing rigs what would be your practice

Plan how many reps how many times and then from hitting the shot what would you say as many as you possibly can we want to own movements we’ve got to do them slowly deliberately we’ve got to be able to put that time in yeah one thing

I will add to that guys uh echoing what rigs just said but you need to be always in focus when you are doing these drills and these exercises if you’re just there sliding the stick down your leg for the sake of it before you know it without any intent

You’re probably ingraining bad movement patterns at the same way so make sure you’ve still got that same intent that same Focus that you would have out on the golf course okay so I’m now going to have a little practice swing groov in that same feeling without the stick just

Pretending it’s going to be there from a dress little takeaway imagining it sliding down the leg continuing to Pivot how does that look mate that’s perfect there all right paid you to say that good job off we go you know what felt pretty good thanks man terrible
