You guys got here I’m coming back yeah yeah love it love it supposedly not February is the time to not come correct Toronto wow I mean who knew I would April till October that’s normally yeah we normally uh get much better weather than in febrary no we’ve been so lucky

Up here we’ve had no bad weather to speak of I mean it’s a little chilly but we got some just fine crispy Sunshine last last yeah that is true it’s very true so we spent the last couple of hours on the putter Studio working with

Some of your new ones yes it was uh it was an eye opener and the new df3 is is the one that obviously we we want to chat about a little bit today for sure the the two was the one right that was the OG that was the one that have got

Lab out there there she is yeah M Rushmore for for you guys sitting up there what made you sort of feel the need to to sort of Bring It Back in a more compact form was that customer feedback uh yeah a lot of it a lot yeah

I mean that was that was what everybody has to say about it you know it’s just yeah the Tech’s intriguing but I could never pull that thing out of my bag um yeah it’s huge and not even uh just on a on a just because of the vanity issue but

It’s it’s big and and you know like I I still use it most of the time it’s still my go-to but like one of the places I don’t like it is um on severely sloped slow greens when the ball’s actually able to come to rest on two or three

Degrees right um and you have the big flat bottom you know getting it to so properly a little awkward um you got the shaft so far behind the face there’s so much onset and um and therefore you know not a lot of hit to the ball people

Struggle getting the ball of the hole with that one cuz the CG is so bad so a really good point yeah different green comp lexes and and sort of how the putter Souls on those which is huge and I don’t think that other putter companies pay nearly enough attention to

How poter Souls right um so it’s a huge priority for us and that was one of the big design um intense behind df3 was getting to Soul better getting it to look better um and I would say that the two biggest um bits of feedback that we

Get on social media would be dear God it’s so ugly and um why can’t I pick up a ball with it um so we solved for those two issues and um hopefully uh hopefully folks like it as much as I do yeah I think you mean youve you’ve done a phenomenal job

Creating a transition so obviously the df2 was the start and then you know Along Came the the mees and then now we have obviously the link and and it’s like okay well if you did like this here’s you’ve got no excuses now corre right cuz we’re taking you halfway there

And then we’re taking you to traditional in our way correct and we want we still want a few more shapes but um but this one’s great um it’s it’s really really great I H I haven’t I mean except for the you know odd troll online um for the

Most part the people that have seen it um are reacting very very favorably to the way that it looks it sets up a little easier um you know easy to aim can see the entire face all of it looks real good love that love that I’m just looking through the some of the

Questions here for you Sam guys we’ve got Sam for about another 20 maybe 25 minutes of her lucky um heading back home this afternoon so if you do have uh a question for Sam specifically on lap putter throw that in there now and and we’ll kind of we’ll keep um checking

Back in on noise and even if we have to go back to we have one question for Sam I struggle with alignment with the MZ One Max I do much better with blades with some offset do you find df3 to satisfy alignment needs for blade lovers um I can’t say specifically to Blade

Lovers I would encourage that person to consider that it isn’t necessarily the the there’s there’s a million different things that go into why a putter sets up well for somebody um I will say I too uh cannot aim the mes I I um I set

Up with that putter some kind of shut um really really shut uh and the df3 I have no issues with whatsoever so um strong chance that you’d have an easier time with the df3 than the Mez for sure love it um boiler Timmy Tim generally want uh

The txg CC Cruise take on L angle balance I made the switch from tank 70 Works sty has a lot of popularity and I honestly feel so much more comfortable with the lab I think uh this gentleman was also saying he was fit by you guys

At HQ earlier last year yes went to lab last summer he says there’s no going back oh nice love it you got a lot of that you must get a lot of that once once they’ve moved into your style of of putter they they can’t go back 100% um I

Mean you know not to give away too much about the video you guys are going to be releasing um you know we have Mikey up there working at it Mike’s got a stroke that has been designed around you know the the putter that’s fit his eye that

He likes using that that plumber’s neck um and uh and a lot of times like you know look our Putters are expensive um and if you go through the trouble of getting fit whether it’s online or in a person then you go on the website and you pick out all these options spend

Anywhere from 500 bucks to 1,200 bucks on a putter you want it to work yeah and so uh people grind it out much the same way I did when I got my first one which is that it didn’t it wasn’t it was not Plug and Play I had to like accept like

Okay the putter is trying to stay Square by it myself so how do I let it and once you go through that journey of figuring out how you’re going to let the putter do its thing yes it’s almost impossible to go back and I I’ll do it every once

In a while just to remind myself on how special the technology is I’ll go play two three holes with a with a torqueing conventional putter or something like that and it feels like a snake I was going to say you must feel like you’re a snake literally trying to hold a rattles

Snake that is hilarious I can totally get it um we we had something again we don’t want to sort of ruin the the the video spoil at all but we had something with Mikey where you know he was he was going through a process and then tried

Him in something else and it was quite amazing the difference um the the before and after I wouldn’t go into it any more than that cuz I want you guys to experience it and enjoy it for for what it was cuz that that’s the way I I saw

It I just I could see the struggle and then the struggle was no more it was great y it was really really cool not going to be able to sleep um another question not being able to pick up the ball should be in the R&D

Plan for the Mez okay first of all I’m going to look right into the camera and say this the two best selling Putters of all time are the TU ball and the spider right neither of which pick up a ball we design our Putters so that you pick the

Ball out of the hole however we did solve uh the df3 has one of those fancy little holes where you just press the putter down and uh picks up the ball um but yes we uh we will for some of our designs take into consideration that uh

Some people like to scoop up the ball you should be holding it out anyway ex I a great point you you have to pick it up when you get out the hole Yeah that’s such a great Point um I want to touch on something per uh who is a a great sort

Of follow of ours in our community said I think I saw in pra a center shafted putter on Instagram he might be in Green in the next live so the running joke is I will never wear green um I will always be in blue that’s the half of glaso that

I uh support and the opposite would basically mean that I’d be lynched by my own uh rightly so um but let’s talk about why a center shafted Putter and A L angle Balan putter are extremely different totally uh so number one on our website because a lot of times

People see our Putter and they think it’s just a center shafted putter um they think that all Center shafted Putters do what ours do in um so we made a video where we um we put all kind of the normal conventional versions of Center shaed Putters in our so you can

Start to see what they do um and further people who don’t know about our Tech they often tell they they’ll post your video that you know that you made about Center shafted Putters um all I can say is it’s a completely different thing it’s in fact exactly the opposite the

Rate of rotation um on other conventional Putters um make it really really hard a to square the face um and B to get lucky they make it almost impossible to get lucky um L angle balance Putters um it’s the exact opposite they’re um every part of the

Putter has is moving at the same same direction at the same time um or trying to move in the same direction at the same time so um whereas you get some seriously unstable hits off of say a Newport 2.6 or something like that um our link which is you know kind

Of at a glance looks like a very similar thing infinitely more forgiving than that 2.6 100% yeah you said it perfectly a a l angle balance putter is the complete opposite of the reason I don’t like a center shafted putter we’ve seen I’ve seen on on quintic Putters that

Rotate upwards of 60 70° per second when The Sweet Spot window is maybe 10 to 20 um we had so again Mikey R if I don’t mind giving this away you were rocking one of the putters today at like 5 10 the the amount of stability that gives

That that face through the area is Monumental if you have to try to time a putter that’s rotating at 60 or 70° per second you’ll it’ll be impossible to ever be a consistently good Putter and there are outliers people always want to say you know McKenzie Hugh is a great

Putter he putts with a sensor shafted putter McKenzie Hughes is the only person only player uh who a good friend of ours who works on tour who has ever tested that where he stands in a right hand h a right to left putt or a left to

Right putt delivers the same face to path uh relationship that is hugely uncommon most people normally have a a bias towards liking you know right to left or not liking a left or right or whatever it might be so he’s clearly an outlier when it comes to putting that’s

You know that’s why he putts very well I would say he puts well in spite of that putter not because of that put I was I was just going to say I bet you that you could put anything in his hands and in particular when you see guys that have

Been Ian he’s been using that putter forever ever and ever and ever um so yeah he knows that he knows how to manage it I’m sure he’s got access to all the same tools that you guys do so he can you know measure and do all that

Stuff but yes in general you’re going to struggle a lot of people I think I think they like the Simplicity of it I think they like seeing you know feeling like you’re kind of hitting the ball with the tip of the shaft um which you can get

That same benefit out of our stuff without all the crazy rotation and the difficulties uh with offc Center strikes definitely definitely lots of chat are in here s about TPT shafts Acro shaft counterbalance uh let’s chat a little bit about the ways in which you build the putters obviously with a shaft and

But with a higher balance point as well yeah I mean there they’re balance points aren’t aren’t always higher um I L yeah I’m not sure why and also CB let’s see TBT and also CB counterbalanced yeah yeah oh is that that’s what you’re asking high balance I got got got got gotcha um

Counterbalancing is just a preference um you know and in fact there’s Technologies out there we have a competitor that’s doing the exact opposite where they’re making these kind of weightless grips and and shafts so you know all it is ahead some people are just going to perform differently um you

Know with uh more weight in the head Less in the grip and then vice versa with some of the counterbalance stuff I I haven’t personally experience this to be law um but the counterbalanced option um in theory is going to be a good option for somebody

That has a hard time getting the head past the hands right um you know your handle draggers are going to do uh pretty good with a counterbalance person be easier to get get them to release the head um and then regarding shafts uh they’re awesome TPT is awesome

It’s an awesome product uh the thing that Drew us to it um is is that concentricity and shafts um is absolutely Paramount for us to be able to balance the putters the physical process of lingle balancing a putter which people don’t realize is a literally manual process we are sitting

There um balancing these things in this very special way with all the different weights and everything and a shaft with like a totally negligible amount of uh what we call run out or curve um or that you know if it’s if it’s out around on any other putter it has zero impact on

The performance um for us it has a huge impact on our ability to balance it so we like that we like TBT for that reason for starters and the other reason like it from the performance side of it is they crazy stiff crazy crazy stiff but they feel really responsive you’re

Actually getting information um when it strikes you you were you know hitting it in the length there and um it’s pretty special that Stout to have that much great really is um want to give a big shout to Tom here uh Calvis just listen to the

Fire pit podcast with Sam on it very intrigued uh to find out lab uh to find a lab retailer speaking of Putters thank you for saying that you still had you still had the prototypes to in stock no problem at all Tom um you were talking about your podcast with Matt Janella

Earlier at the fire pit podcast and how fun that one was to do it was amazing um so I talked to Matt right after you know Lucas Glover just won a second tournament in a row with it the the the factory outside of my office door sounded like a war zone I

Mean it was just so crazy obviously we were all really happy but it was also very stressful we had you know we never could have anticipated we’d have that many broomstick sales we were having inventory issues and all this and all this craziness and then you know right

In the middle that I got to close my door and tell the whole Lab story all you know six years of of of you know start to finish um to Matt uh and it was great and he’s such a talented journalist he asked good questions I do

A lot of podcasts most of the time they ask the same questions and you know this and that move on real quick but he’s you know really got to the the the guts of the story and the story is incredible it’s an incredible true legitimate

American dream kind of thing or is it a Canadian dream up here do I say Canadian dream so um you know this is a guy with an invention um and brought it to life and uh and and the the the combination of like you you know good decision

Making and hard work and all that stuff and straight up Lucky breaks like just lucky breaks um are all get to acknowledge that oh for sure man for sure and that was what was so fun about the podcast I kept saying well here’s this lucky break and he would ask

Me who the people were involved um and he’s reached out to all of them he’s done interviews with over 20 people um to tell the to tell the lab story I guess it’s going to be a three-part series it is a great story there there’s no doubt about it it’s uh it’s amazing

To see see because it’s it’s a roller coaster isn’t it and and there’s the struggles who come before the success always and and during the success and after the success and the more success the more struggles almost like you said um you know when when Lucas obviously

You starts starts go winning and and every time someone pops with it you’re going to get that Spike that you know maybe you weren’t expecting the time maybe you’ve got minimums at your sort of trying to kind of get out the factory or you’ve got a commitment of an order

Going out and the last thing we all want and we’re in the same our business a disappointed customer oh good so it’s it’s not I would say we have some incredible customers um they they were really really patient through all that there was a point at which I think we

Were backed up almost eight weeks wow um but people understood the reality it’s a handmade product um it’s not cuz we were lazy it’s not cuz we were so you know um so we you know everybody was really quite kind with us through all that that’s awesome and so many people love

It that we have a customer that wants to open a Lab Studio fitting Center in the Republic of Ireland yeah all right we don’t have a bunch up in up in uh up in Ireland well I mean to be honest I think Mick could probably buy enough putter

From self you could probably fund the Irish Venture I love that you like know all who these people are yeah I mean that that’s the honestly it’s why we love doing the Monday live is because you know all the names we see are the same ones every single week so when

You’ve been doing it for five or six years it’s it kind of is like you know having your weekly catch up with the family I love it’s really cool I love that interesting one Jonathan says I have a MZ Max feels light even though it isn’t would send it back getting weights

Changed help when I get on slow greens um this interesting we were just having a conversation about weight and its impact on um people’s ability to control speed yes short answer is yes you can totally send it back and um we can add some weight to it um you can’t just lead

Tape them the way that you would other Putters because obviously that throws a putter out of balance so um yes we recommend doing it what’s really interesting say um you know we we’ve all heard tiger a million times every time he goes to the West Coast and greens get

Slow he talks about how he adds Le tape to his Putters yeah I was always really confused um because it’s the exact opposite for me yeah it’s the dead opposite for me um and what I I I think what I realized I was just having this conversation with my buddy the other day

It’s about how you react to weight so for in my case my grip pressure generally doesn’t change regardless of how heavy the putter is in my hands and I think that the people who like a heavy heavier putter on slower green are people for whom the reaction is to grip

It tighter and therefore swing it faster that’s what makes them you know and then people whose grip pressure doesn’t change like myself I actually do much better with a with a heavier putter on slow or on Fast greens because I swing it slower definitely um I couldn’t

Couldn’t agree that that to me is that’s how I explain it to people you know it’s not don’t use a heavier putter to try and give the ball more momentum or more sort of you know Force the opposite it’s trying to slow and control you down from letting it go

Off in your hands right yeah I’m I’m 100% with you on that um there’s a lot of people talking about rotation um I’m try to find it there um John Burton was asking can you ever really achieve a square back and forward putting stroke

Yeah I think that this is one of the the I would in fact say this the area of most confusion in you know in the putter civilian life as far as this the differ between straight back and straight through Square Back Square through whatever and then a gating and arcing stroke

Um I I did a video using a device called uh the putting board um it’s an awesome device and just kind of clears up all of the confusion around what straight back straight through really means so to to your question to answer your question directly it’s about the face being

Relative to what is is is what you want to is what you want to ask so relative to the Target no if you’re going to have a straight back straight through you know putter face that is facing the target throughout the entire stroke you’re going to end up doing kind of

What you have a bit of a habit of doing of of sort of screwing it closed on the way back screwing it open on the way through so there’s a manipulation that happens there that really is not consistent despite what Dave pels would have you believe right um so uh but

There is absolutely a possibility in the ability to keep the Potter Face Square to the arc um to the plane um of your putt that Arc is generally going to be dictated by the LI angle of the putter um but yeah that’s the whole point of

The tech that’s what we do is that um our Putters are designed uh the putter is actually seeking it’s it’s it’s it’s gravitationally is trying to stay Square to the Arc of of the putting stroke and yes you can achieve it you can um and

And and the coolest thing that we see is is that people you know from your side of the spectrum more often the other where people have access rotation in their in their putting um the face opens quite a bit relative to the arc and closes um just by doing nothing other than using

The putter a couple weeks later the amount of face rotation relative to the ark tends to sort of lay down totally totally I there’s been so many interesting nuggets that you’ve shared with us today around um around that that people can adjust once they once they

Sort of are freed up from having to manage the torque on the putter it’s amazing how much they are freed up in in the sort of flow of their stroke and uh it must be quite a a a sort of um nice feeling certainly to not have to try to

To steer it around Ste oh absolutely it’s great and um and it’s a it’s a tough technology to implement into what you guys do into fitting you know because you guys are we’re sitting there on a quintic we’ve got a straight putt um and we’re you know throwing a lab in

There against a bunch of other torquing Putters and our reactions to the lab isn’t you know right off the bat isn’t necessarily going to be um you know whatever might not be good might be good who knows but that isn’t necessarily the answer as to whether or not it’s the

Right fit for you um at the moment unfortunately there isn’t really a way around just kind of taking the dive and you know giving it a try but um boy I mean if you read the stuff most of the people who who take the dive yeah um get

To a happy place with it for sure I mean there’s lots of them out there the one place I find it really wins for me in the uh the poter sh Sam is when there’s a high range of variance in the Potter Face delivery if somebody has a putter

They’re very very the standard deviation the face angle is very very tight I kind of know that they’re managing the torque really really nicely and probably I’m not that prepared to go in and mess with that too much I’m just going to more place the putter in the right position

In The Arc in order to create consistency happy to get just you know subtly do it but if I see someone who’s really figh in the face if I just take that away from them it’s remarkable how much they just settle down all of a sudden they just start kind of breeds

Consistency where they they had none yeah and then and we see that too like the higher the the technically poorer or fundamentally flawed the stroke is the more instantaneous the the results are particularly when you start using our bigger heads the DF the max df3 um it

Really just calms all that down and just sort of leads them to where they need to be the better players who are good at manipulating Putters like you um it’s not immediate it takes a minute um but yeah the the I would imagine where you guys from where you guys are

Sitting the the guys that are screwing it all over the place you put a big steady DF 2.1 in their hands and things are going to get a lot easier a lot quicker it’s magical it really is it really is okay guys we’ve got about five

More minutes left with Sam and then uh he’s got to catch a flight so um we will grab a few more and then we’ll uh we’ll dive in obviously today we’ve got the bracket um reveal so we’ve got the uh every year sound we have we should do it

For clutters as well but we have our our bracket which is we pick eight drivers and then we obviously go head to-head and put them up against each other uh and sort of Heats and and we try and decide which is the driver the little merch madness madness yeah it’s cool

It’s cool it’s become a fun little thing where’re we’re try and create a little Trophy and and whoever wins the the drive of the year the manufacturer will get her little it will be the bracket you know winner for the year Z it’s pretty cool um Jason I saw this a couple

Times he’s asking does lab provide fittings at their HQ we do um as of recently um so we don’t have a a particularly great indoor facility so um if you’re thinking about making the journey I would I would definitely encourage you to wait until the spring

Or summer um Eugene Oregon is where the factory is located um but yeah we’re uh we definitely do them um you would uh just email info@ laab and you can schedule a time we’ve got a couple in-house Fitters there and the factory is located on a golf course physically

On a golf course so um uh weather permitting we like to do the fittings out on the green and then you can get out and go play a little golf while you’re waiting for it to be built and um and that’ be that also uh for any of you

Guys on the way to Bandon um the the if you most people fly into Eugene um and we are literally directly on the way right off the side right off I5 on the way to Bandon so um you can stop by and say hello and yeah Jason is actually

From Eugene he’s in Eugene so uh he’s asking are you in Emerald Valley yeah we are Emeral Valley Jason do we do we know each other um if you don’t know you sounds like we’re uh yeah we’re the factory is in that giant building off of the ninth

Green at Emerald Valley which if you’ve played there enough times at some point you’ve hit it it’s like literally like right right behind um and then the right rough on the ninth hole is like just this flyer Vortex from hell and you yeah catch a jumper going on of there flies

Over to the green and right into the plexiglass windows it’s a blast I love it I love it all right Mikey pick pick one last one for Sam and then okay you want to make him late there was a question here about uh some Juniors and

I like the question I just got to find it again come on come on come on oh my god oh yeah here we go uh quick question uh when will lab build clubs for 6 to 10 year olds get them started early on the lab golf feel is there any

Build that would work for a set absolutely I mean so the the custom shop on any one of our Putters can be any length and any live we’ve definitely made plenty of kids putters um we’ve we’ve worked with enough kids too to kind of weight them appropriately

And get all the stuff going but yeah you can make the shaft as short as 26 in which is really really really little um uh speaking of point of fun point of fact Robert gagas was using a 28 inch putter for a little while I remember that one I remember this guy still

Brings a few of them to each to each event the mini means I think they’re up to like 31 now but like yeah they were tiny but yes we absolutely do um and then depending upon how the LIE um you know comes out if it’s not uh too flat you can

Even extend it a few times um and keep it in the kids bag before you got to go you know end up with a new one but you know it’s tough because it’s just it’s a spendy thing it’s a custom Putter and to get one that short you got you’re going

To go into the custom category um so It’s Tricky but if you want a little superstar if you want to if you want that to be the retirement fund invest in their golf clubs make sure who were we talking about the other day about a kid and you were asking something about

We’re talking about they kind of how much they were hitting it really high in the head and was a kid basically who’d come in to see one of the boys and he he could do nothing but lean the shaft incredibly forward and I’m like think driver with the driver think about kids

When when they they have a driver’s too big they have to drag it back they then the weight falls behind them they turn in the another Direction and they have no choice but to deliver massive amounts of for they can’t actually throw the head and on the strength yeah exactly so

I again you know we if we want our kids to to have you know functional gol swings through their teenage years and into this of early part of if they’re going to be any good at the game we got to get them fit we got to make sure

They’re using the right stuff Putters you know wedges ir and it is wild when you know we’ve got a couple Juniors around Emerald that use our stuff and um and have you know for a while and then you know when they go on vacation or whatever they get stuck with a with a

Rental and they hate it they hate it it’s so so so difficult to go back after you used for a while without a doubt brother thank you for coming to see us appreciate it thank you for having me it’s been too long thanks appreciate great thank you guys yeah I

I would imagine so it’s got speed slots in it what one you can say it he’s not Dino Power hollow body I don’t sit quite nice I looked at that last time okay we’ll see uh out of that one though um yeah cuz tb5 is not hollow

Body no no it’s not the theater blade it’s just got a big cavity behind it yeah um Wilson Staff CB is not hollow body 245 good 0317 245 I think think 245 530 is going to be good and don’t forget the cart CL on T200 is good yeah it’s

Very good I guess it’s not a real player well yeah it’s a player’s iron I’ll use it four IR for bit for C dues absolutely love that for it’s so good absolutely roasted insane how much I love that thing someone asking you bench the bardy listen the bardy is still in the

Bag it’s going to go on a nice little vacation wave a dollar B oh Jesus what have I done oh here we go we’re back wave a dollar bill at young Michael he’s MD no no no watch the video it’s an interesting video I’ll say that it is an

Interesting video he might be a demo short so if you’re looking at B com in 3 weeks time um Mass up golf does heavy head option on CB negate the CB aspect no it allows you to get in a heavy head so if we’ve got D3 a swing

Weight yeah swing weight is D3 but we say we per we want to increase thei the head we want to put more weight in the tour the he he wherever it might be it’ll allow us to still have our driver or if it’s driver at D3 um and get all

Those benefits of of the heavier head but without increasing the the swing weight so it doesn’t negate the the CB element the CB is giving you more options in the head you see this one what is it I can’t read it I’ll take a photo and show it you later so good
