Okay guys so in today’s video we’re going to talk about something that took me quite a while to get my head around and ever since understanding this very fundamental movement it has made a massive difference not only to my game but also students that I get the

Important movement to stand now when I stand up like straight like vertically and I turn my upper body or lower body independently just seems like I’m doing some sort of weird dance move but when I do that from with inside my posture what you’ll start to notice is when I turn my

Chest independently okay or my upper body independently away from my lower body you can start to see the way that it produces an element of tilt so you can see the way if I do it on the way through as well if I turn my chest produces tilt produces tilt now the

Reason why this is so important is because in the golf swing we need tilts okay so we need to have the ability to tilt our shoulders so if I show you from the side on perspective here in the back swing position what we don’t want is we don’t want to turn very

Flat okay CU what this means is if I turn really flat I end up standing up like so see the way that my hips start to shoot forward like this and from the fa on perspective if I do the same movement this basically means look so

The way my head ends up moving off towards my TR side now the reason why this is happening is because the golfer doesn’t realize the importance of separation and what we now need to do is if we go back to this exercise for a moment where I just turned my upper body

You can see by doing that means that now I can focus on very much the first part of the back swing being a composition of letting my hands move to the side of my body so a little bit of wrist hinge and hands moving but then an upper body

Rotation and that starts to produce what is known as a tilt so all of a sudden I have my my tilt which means my head stays still and then I can simply turn to complete the remainder of that back swing so that’s really important now slightly different but it’s the same

Movement in the downswing position so if we do it again I swing up towards the top sorry I do my first move and then I swing up towards top so as I start the down swing both my lower body and my upper body are going to be moving okay

So you can see the way this helps me get that sense of pushing down and turning in the down swing position but what I’ve got to do now is as I’ve moved into this down swing position if you watch see the way I open up my lower body so this time

If my lower body opens up more than my uh upper body so my lower body is more open than my upper again it induces another NE tilt okay so that separation it produces an Ever tilt which gives me again the ability to keep my head still

Okay so you can see a lot of golfers that I meet get very scared of when I say to them move your chest down over your lead legs they’ll go but I feel like I’m over here but you will but because your lower body is’s more open it’s what produces this separation which

Produces a tilt which means that’s how you end up keeping your head very much still so what I would suggest is practice I say this to all my online students practice your separational moves build up an element of awareness of your upper body moving independently from your lower and your lower body

Moving independently from your upper and then once you get familiar with those you’ll become very aware of the first move becoming an upper body chest turn and you’ll become very aware of lower body clearing coming in towards the downswing and what I’m basically saying is those simple movements will give you
