Stacked Jagger we got the entire Field behind knowing it was coming when he missed that three-foot putt on 17 or like it is uh pulls it in the bunker left hits it a 100 yards into the deep Ru and I’m like this is

It I said in my life 999 99 out of out of a million 99999 out of a million that’s bad out of 100,000 would he ever make that shot if we were backing him and he cre he stuck it high spin uh didn’t roll back into the water

Which it typically would have out of that deep rough and I’m like how did he make that shot how did he make that approach shot out of that rough plus you didn’t seem to hit it well and then what happened what did we see well he drains the 9 foot putt kills

I think JBC had big Huard and Jagger outright tickets I had a tremendous amount of Saul myself many people in the Discord that followed my core plays this week we were leading the single entry pretty much all throughout the first two days of the weekend and I had a I just had

Joerger everywhere I just had joerger tied up in all different places and I know a lot of other members in the Discord did as well that’s not to say that some uh there were some folks in the Discord that had Pavone as well I I

Was certainly not one of them I know you were certainly not one of them as well no I smashed Boyard and I smash Jagger on about the 16th hole I’m like okay this is where and he makes that 30 foot putt by the way this is where it all

Falls apart and joerger was joerger was tight into 162 joerger hits a beautiful t-shot into 16 and Pavone’s in the bunker with a long bunker shot that he CH yeah you’re thinking okay two shot swing here with joerger has what eight feet for birdie and Pavone has 30 15 20

Feet for par at least and the opposite happens right and this is what I’ve been talk this is what I talked about a little bit on my podcast Sunday where it’s like this seems to be the year of the guy finishing you know the guy that

Usually poops down his leg on Sunday and finishes T3 winning and you know as watching 17 and the beginning of 18 I said to myself oh God this Frenchman’s just dying to give it away this is Jean Vandal all over again he’s he’s begging to give it away um and then he drains

The putt um some questionable Foul Play but how do you stick a how do you stick that approach shot from the rough is he like the most that I mean if that was an authentic shot and can’t you know I saw the video and I said cancel all wagers

Just because you know for the bit right right I mean if it was an authentic shot where he had the guts to hit that at that stage that is going to go down as one of the best shots of most gutsiest shots of the year if not I’ve seen in a long time

Totally totally and that rough I had walked 18 all week the rough was particularly thick on that left side of 18 because no fans could get in there so it wasn’t trampled down so he was basically playing that shot out of potentially the thickest rough on the entire

Course but let’s just be honest there’s no way he didn’t cheat yeah 100 per. he’s French yeah he’s French this has been a problem on the PGA tour for a long time um the walk up she actually to be honest with you sheffer’s done this once or twice too on

Staro one two staro y one two steppo where you walk up to the ball take a quick peek above and hope nobody notices your footwork take a quick little pat pat in front of the ball and walk back and take your take your practice swings I mean because those greens on 18

Were blazing fast yeah and that and that ball just stuck yeah and it it had completely come back but listen we move on another week ahead let me ask you this question as we as we transition ourselves in into Pebble Beach does this um we’ve now had

Four winners over 140 to one to start the PGA Tour season right now I I haven’t seen I my I’ve made a bunch of bets my bets are already done they they’ve all been posted in the in the Discord already but this Trend that we’ve seen of long shot winners

Especially now coming to a signature event where we get hin back we get Sheffer back we get Rory back we get pretty much all the best players on the PGA tour back does this change your strategy at all or are you less inclined to take some shots at the top

Of the board do you feel like there’s any chance that this trend continues because I said to myself listen there’s no way this is going to continue at Tory Pines Tory Pines is a ball striking course that’s Tory Pines is the type of course that separates the men’s from the boys right

And and and In fairness uh fow and Xander led the field in Te green at Tory Pines like V Alexander hit the ball the best all week but then once again that guy that you always expect to finish T3 with the seven strokes gain putting he’s winning these tournaments these days in Finish

Instead of finishing T3 so how how does that make you feel as we enter signature week where where now we’ve got even more Firepower at the top well I think there’s just so much parity on tour now um and if you looked at Xander’s game and even H’s game because I thought hom

Was ascending on the front nine and then he missed three four to seven foot putts in a row for birdie then par right it felt like if that tournament was 90 holes homo would have found a way found a way to do it and then Xander started doing same doing the

Same thing on the back right he said that about those po greens everyone was missing three Footers I mean pavon even who won 17 missed that three-footer I was like oh this is it because that [ __ ] gets in your head right and and and and they they think that you know I’m not

Going to be able to make these putts down the stretch and your game is affected from the green backwards it’s a lot of golfers say you know it’s comes from the if you if you’re confident in your putter it affects your game backwards from the green so right so I

Mean I just think that and then with the ti Hatten thing leaving to live Etc sure is that all of these golfers can hit the same shots right there’s no one that makes you sit down and think I need to watch this golfer hit shots especially when a world class golfer my morawa

Doesn’t even make the cut and uh uh pavon is Win don’t get me started on that guy I I watched him all day on Friday it’s a whole I could do a whole separate podcast on what was going on with him on Friday but that’s a that’s a

Story for another day it’s it’s all it’s but what we what I’ve seen as a as a trend over the last year or so is that what we expected that a lot of these leaders just completely fade under the pressure they’re not doing that anymore

Or as much no and so you’re seeing the Kirks win you’re seeing the pavans win you’re seeing Grayson Murray win with clut shots and so you know it’s basically next man up look at Kevin U right yeah Kevin and Kevin youu going stud and Kevin youu going to pble beach

I watched 2023 highlights before this show that’s how I prep Uh Kevin Yu played really well at Pebble Beach that guy is a te green monster and he and Port Royal he’s like really good on these shorter Coastal tracks just FY he’s guts I mean that’s

What I mean it just takes guts and pavon you know honestly to his credit and we joke about the approach shot on 18 but you know he hit some [ __ ] clutch drives pavon did I mean he he hit he hit the Fairway a lot and uh he made some

Clutch putts so you know that’s what you have to do you can’t predict this stuff um so I don’t now now now this week necessarily cons considering the strength of the field and the difficulty of this course in a you know 40 mph headwind I don’t know I mean uh we know

What it took at Tory Pines right you can miss Fairways at Tory Pines um it’s preferable you don’t but everyone at some point is going to be scrambling everyone at some point is going to be missing three-foot putts you still in and Tory Pines was pristin put this in

Your notes I I’m going to put this in my notes for next year Tory Pines was pristine conditions there wasn’t an you were out there there wasn’t an ounce of wind out there no no no real wind a little bit on the ocean holes right but

In terms of uh there wasn’t a lot like nothing what what I would expect to see uh in this week at Pebble no I mean one of the biggest defenses for tour Pros firmness speed and wind and and you’re at least going to have really small greens Big Time

Scrambling this week at PPP Beach and a shitload of wind and that’s going to create probably some Carnage this week a little bit but Tory Pines is a brute so you know if you win Tory Pines that puts you that puts you way up my uh my list

Of players that that I’m gonna probably track Kevin you I’m am not getting off that guy is your girlfriend in the chat yet yeah she’s uh she mad at you no no she’s happy CU I’m wearing I’m wearing the Taylor Swift shirt that she got me even

Though the Ravens cost me so much money um you’re sl you know this stuff is rigged you come from a network background you know what the networks want yeah I’m starting to really think the momes the the the tailor on the field at the Super Bowl thing’s really

Because he’s the greatest proam him and Larry Fitzgerald are the greatest proam combination in the history of golf um so we’re going to get some real golf good golf in tough condition so you can talk about the course briefly go ahead it’s your game it’s your floor yeah so

Um I think the one thing we need to to start off with is is the weather this week and I’m I’m just gonna tell you right off the bat the pendulum’s probably gonna swing way too far on this like you’re gonna have you’re gonna have content people try and sell you a bill

Of goods on the fact that they know exactly how this is going to play out from a wind and rain perspective and um they don’t they don’t you don’t know if delays are going to happen right um there could be the weather in montere I’ve spent a lot of time in montere I’ve

Played Pebble a bunch of times I played spy glass a bunch of times too I love that area it can change Flex it could change it could change pretty quickly but I think one thing that we feel pretty safe about knowing right now is that this is going to be the coldest

Event that we’re going to see this year you’re very rarely going to see PGA Tour competition in 50 degree weather we’re going to get 50 degree weather this week um and we’re going to get rain like as it stands now we’re going to get some rain at least on Thursday and Friday and

Then it looks like things are going to calm down and the sun’s going to come out a little bit over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday right so I think one thing you need to prepare yourself for I was making this joke in the Discord earlier this morning um but you know

Every body’s just gonna say now oh this guy this guy can play in cold and wind right this guy’s from Canada he can play in Cen win this guy’s from Europe he can play in Cen win this guy has a second cousin in Alaska he can

Play right so it’s like what’s the line of how do we measure these guys in terms of who has the as you would say Strokes gained guts it’s a big Strokes gained guts week this week because I don’t think these are going to be pleasant conditions to play golfing at least on

Thursday and Friday now the reason why like I said I wouldn’t go like too wild on playing some sort of narrative of like I know this is gonna happen in the sense I know pebble is gonna play harder on this day or I know spy glass is going

To play harder in this day or I know the afternoon guys are going to get way more wins the early morning guys is because you know we could get a delay right I mean it’s supposed to pour for parts on Thursday Pebble Beach is a golf course

That has it should drain pretty well right but ultimately at the end of the day I think you want to try and base yourself and go and we can talk about the pricing because I have some major major uh concerns about the pricing this week there’s some really bad prices yeah

Me and were’re talking about it this morning there could be delays all day so what happens if you play a weather narrative and then the tourn this happened at the ago Brian Brian K Brian Brian K um RPS um so what happens if we get a weather delay and then the the

Giant weather stack that you expect it to happen gets completely flipped on its head because there’s a delay right so you know I’ll we’ll talk about the weather in the Discord all week um and I’ll have it updated in the Wednesday article what I think you should do um

But ultimately I do think this is a week where you’re gonna want to look at some guys ideally that have had some success in colder look at guys windier conditions um fits and um and go from there but you know we got to talk about the top of this board because I I’m

Shocked to see this pricing so what is your when you see the 10K range when you see Rory and Sheffer in this tier of their own on a golf course that they’ve never played outside of in US Open conditions on a golf course that devalues their greatest weapon which is

Long and Elite Driving ability um and then a 1300 gap before we get to um Victor hoflin winner um what say you at the top of the board well I mean let me let me let me let me say this about the course too it’s and and just just

Generally in golf it’s such a high variance sport um why I mean basically I I I correlate it to if you have conviction or lack of conviction on a golfer right I I think this I think this players gonna play Bad this week then walk up then then picture yourself

Walking up to this person on the driving range on Wednesday and saying I know for a fact you’re gonna play badly this week because win now or or even more wild picture saying I know that because you’re playing glass at 11:48 p.m. you’re going to have a advantage over

The guy that’s going to play Pebble at 8:48 a.m. because I have a subscription to a data site that says you are going to bathe the best POA putter this week in the wind in an AM time right you can’t you can’t and but the thing is is

Like here’s what you can here’s the information you can synthesize is okay who is playing well no one no one remembers the guys that played back sadly but Jake or or or didn’t win but Jake nap right he lost by one shot that guy destroys the ball off the team one

Shot over four days he one shot no one will remember him so take that information that he’s hitting the ball well he may have strokes gain guts may but he’s hitting the ball well he’s got some guts down the stretch and and and he’s not playing this week but but carry

That information forward to this week so we know that the top players in the world can hit clutch shots at very difficult times and have the allaround game to not lose that one stroke that loses the tournament it came down to a few putts for like a Xander it came down

To a few putts for Max hom yeah but it doesn’t make them any less of a golfer but that’s the only information you have you don’t have anything else like scientific data that says this person is not going to play well this week you can dispers you can

You can sort of dilute that over a team sport and know collectively that one person isn’t going to blow up the whole game but in golf it’s down to one person you don’t know if they have bad Chipotle in the morning I and have a bad morning

Which we’ve seen in Mexico by the way uh and terl hat and wearing white and pants um so so I mean it’s basic but this is a no cut event that’s that’s the benefit Cuts Cuts kill us in DFS yeah so we should also say real quickly just to

The weekend my God we’re gonna miss those jokes we’re gonna miss all those jokes yeah the amateur field is going to be way lighter too um it’s not it’s going to be the the peak of the peak amateur some of those some of those stragglers at the back end are those

Invites are going to be lost in the mail I think we’re still gonna see I don’t know if Aaron Rogers is gonna get get invited back after you know he was called out by Josh Allen as a sandb backer last year um but we’ll see Larry

Fitz and and Bill Murray and those folks over the weekend here’s what I’ll say um what we do know is we know from a track record of which players have the guts to make shots in certain situations so they don’t lose a lot of strokes and we’re

Learning a lot more we to now about some of the people that even we like that we’re not g to play anymore um probably could name some but this course demands I have my notes here from last year okay so three of the part fivs are the easiest courses easiest holes on

The course all reachable in two uh four to five of the par fours have less than a 100 yards on approach smallest Greens on tour yeah uh so there is an emphasis here on Wedge game uh totally and you’re gonna scramble I mean that’s why Jordan speed does well that’s why Jordan that’s

Why Jason day does well that’s why Phil wins here that’s why um uh me but Ted Potter H that was that was unusual yeah but but but it’s basically that’s the information we do know I don’t think you can get away with four days and not being a good Scrambler not

Being a good wedge player uh and not being really good around the green because you’re gonna miss some Huts will be random I remember I remember when we used to back Rafa Cabrera Bale right that was our ball that was our Elite Spanish iron player that we all wanted

To win and he was kind of close here at Pebble Beach and then he had a shot in the intermediate or the Rough Around the green I forget which hole it was maybe 18 and he and he and he I think he hit eight from like 30 feet I was like there

It is that’s what we know we know that information um so if we look at the top of the board right re back to Xander who may have stro stroke gains no guts uh to be quite honest uh havland much improved short game uh I was watching 2023 he had this

Shot uh not sure what hole at a tree route over a bunker to the green he hit it to two feet uh jain’s game improved last year his entire profile improved last year because let’s also just say about havin won the US amateur at Pebble Beach low amateur at the 2019 US Open

Which I was in attendance for hland um havland gained like 10 Strokes ball striking as an amateur at the 2019 US Open Play the best plays havland havland uh in that tier to me is one of the best plays spe this is the 10K range little bit higher nines spe course history plays

Extremely well here by the way big time so I know there’s not I know there’s like anti-c course history truthers I’m a truther so I’m gonna say course history is very important this week spe is my dude but I would go up with you

And I I’ll I’ll turn it over to you but for me havin and spe my two starts in the high range okay so you know me I I differ um from I think you’re a little bit more in the middle but in terms of like the jam the best plays um I’m kind

Of on the other side of that Spectrum I’m of of the the KOB the worst play I like to play very contrarian okay I’m of the Kobe du both school of thought um which is a good which is a good contrast yeah Kobe jams bad plays but he also won

800k in like three weeks playing guys under 10 per. so um listen here’s what I’ll say I think you’re are AB you’re absolutely Looney Tunes to not play hland at 10 to and I don’t care I don’t care what the ownership is and you guys should

Understand how good of a play that is based on knowing my general strategy in terms of I am the guy that always say as fade ownership play contrarian golf is a game of variance especially on a four days of golf on a course where we’re gonna see weather conditions play the

Variants play play the lower owned plays right you’re right but you need the winner right corre that is that is the key and that the winner often or the top five often comes in a very chalky range correct and and hland at 102 this week especially ju opposed with Rory and

Sheffer at their prices right now we’d be having a different conversation about this if Sheffer was 104 and Rory was 105 but the fact that Sheffer is 114 and Rory is 115 and they may be very low owned okay um because I don’t see anybody that’s going to look at this

Differently than I am um maybe it depends how much you’re looking at the course right because um depends how in depth they getting with the course because in my opinion Sheffer and Rory obviously they’re the best two players in the field they could still play great

Here and win here but their road map is a little bit harder than it would be in a course that favors their Elite Driving this is a golf course that takes driver out of your hands a lot right um so given the price I I do not see how you

Don’t jam havland and find ways to get different elsewhere and and I will we can talk about a tremendous amount of low owned 6K guys that I love I’m going to get really weird in the low sixes and sevens but I to me I I think you have to

Do it and go down with the ship and if havin kills you Strokes gain Scandinavia you know we trust that he can play well in the wind and the rain and the cold Strokes gain good attitude like hin just takes me as the type of guy that if it’s

Terrible I and everyone’s miserable out there jain’s going to put in like death metal on his airpods and just smile um I I think he has the mental fortitude uh to play well in these types of conditions I just think you have to do

It I think you have to have to do it and the fact Wy that you could play havland Klay and spe in the same lineup where you’re getting like of the 9k range the three best Pebble Beach guys remember remember H’s the only guy in this field

Outside of Fitz that has played well at Pebble in US Open conditions and AT&T Pebble Beach conditions right hin finished top 15 at Pebble and US Open conditions hin finished top 15 at Pebble in Easy conditions right same with FEDS right so whether this course whether we’re overvaluing the weather and it

Plays easier than we all expect whether it’s brutal and you get gale force wins US Open conditions like I will go to battle with hland um and figure out everything else later here’s the and the thing with this course is and I will I will have one

More I have one player above that standard than hland is you’re not going to get in a lot of trouble off the tea it’s it’s fairly wide open and length is uh negligible that’s why you see some of these shorter hitters um Von Taylor Nick Taylor Ted Potter

Win if you want guts if you want one of the best scramblers ever uh a guy that plays well in bad conditions that’s why Jordan spe and course history matters that’s why Jordan spe with the best course history here in in sort of in sort of links

Conditions with the wind and the cold C and the rain and the scrambling and the guts Jordan spe is the second most interesting and gutsiest gol for un tour to me next to Tiger who will always be number one um I he’s my favorite I mean someone said what well what’s your first

Bet I had said I haven’t seen the numbers yet but Jordan Speed start and end with that higher owned um because spe hland is going to be an incredibly popular start right higher owned spe or H here probably right spe by far because hom was chalky last week and um and

Xander too will be they’ll be played um in Reverse right people like well hom didn’t do well last week for me I’m off of him but he has good course history here right okay and H played well last week I mean played great last week I was

Going to say I’m not necessarily out on speed but I think as a way if you wanted to jam havin will probably be in 100% of my lineups um and if you wanted to get different I’m just going to throw it out here Wy are we overlooking Justin Thomas at

9.6 because Justin Thomas I have distinct memories of that windy cold round in the at the players at Saw Grass that was a week when everyone got the weather wrong and JT played in the brutal wind conditions and was the best guy on the course and he talked about

After the round these conditions brought out my creativity this is the most fun style of golf for me um and so I I just wanna I just want to throw it out there I I I think you could I think that’s an option if you want to

Get off the very chalky spe hin start and also um what do you where what’s like the state of the union for you Klay this week too because Klay has been incredible at Pebble Beach but my God you have to imagine people are sick of his [ __ ] after backto back just like

Lifeless weekend see that’s the thing with that’s the thing I love about course history is that klay’s confidence you could see it at Tory Pines which for some reason has just chewed him up yeah uh in those extremely small margins where you have to hit shots that every shot obviously matters

Um for four days I just don’t think Tory Pines he I just think it’s in his head but here maybe that changes right yeah I mean speed it will give him confidence Jordan Justin Thomas has not played a lot here he hasn’t he hasn’t and but

Justin Thomas showed a lot at the AMX granted it’s the AMX but I see Jordan spe Justin Thomas and Jordan spe is very similar golers I they probably Justin Thomas is a better long arm player um if if Justin Thomas doesn’t have have to hit drives that makes me like him more

And I think um his putter came back a little bit I like Justin Thomas I mean I like those two guys the best I mean I even like I could even go back to a hom type yeah me too and and I and I said last week that the the the Winner’s

Going to come in the big range and it didn’t um but you know I I would say that one of those guys is probably going to win this week I just love spe so much yeah yeah spe havland can’t lay I mean I can go down wait so one last question in the

Nines and I’ll throw this out to the chat as well because I’ve been racking my brain so so so agree with you like you know there’s a I know Kobe um a bunch of other of my friends are like Mor Kawa is just such a he’s so delicate right he

Just gets Blown Away in the breeze and I don’t necessarily totally subscribe to that belief but at the same time do we have one example I follow golf very closely and I could not think of one off the top of my head this morning do we have one example of Colin morawa playing

Well in suboptimal conditions because you think about the open that he won the open that he won at St George’s was no fan 60 degrees sunny with 10 mile per hour WIS yeah so I’m trying to Rack my brain an American course andof was American course in with no crowd so I’m

Trying to Rack my because listen you know me I love a good flop lag this is second shot course like on paper Mora will make sense in my head but I’m just trying to Envision you know 20 M hour renss in pouring rain and the problem

With morac kawa’s ball flight is he hits like this cut that gets to a certain point in the wind and then just goes right right and that’s what we saw with him when he was struggling on Friday and that’s a type of ball fight that you

Don’t want in the wind you want like a lower piercing ball flight and morea just kind of plops it up there and then it fades back into the middle and when it’s perfect like he has that on the string but my issue with morow this week

Although I think he will be the lowest owned in the 9k range because L is playing some great golf right now too um but I just I can’t anyone in the chat can you think of one instance of morawa playing well in suboptimal conditions

The closest I can get is he won the PGA Championship in August at Harding Park and that was like 65 in San Francisco Marine layer thick air but nothing like this so he’s play well on the west coast um but I I can’t think of one I
