Sunset here in the Rockies we are in the heart of Pitkin County Colorado asman snow mask playing host the X Games Aspen 2024 third and final day of competition out here we have one more set of ski medals to hand out this weekend as we bring you Chipotle men’s ski super pipe

It is a pack house out here on the mountain tonight we have two more events left before we say goodbye and pack up and head on to Ventura California June 28th through the 30th but taking a look at the start list out here tonight Jimmy Coleman in the booth alongside Tom

Wallish well you’ve got some Heavy Hitters we have four count four returning gold medalists in this event so much talent in this start list Nico porus Alex Ferrera the local boy David Wise I mean it is going to be a showdown Under The Lights as the sun sets taking

A look at the pipe this thing is a monstrosity out here tonight they’re fired up the lights it is go time here as I said before it’s the last set of ski medals to hand out this weekend we started off with a gentleman from Finland he had his X Games rookie

Performance out here last year and he just so happened to walk away with a bronze medal in 2023 this is Jan salonin Jan has been on a tear this year too coming out with a big result early in the season and just talented and loves to go fast go high out of the

Super pipe can’t wait to see I think we’re going to see a huge run to start things off tonight well by virtue of that bronze medal last year he was the first skier from Finland to ever medal in it super pipe see if he can follow

That up here in 2024 he’s going to start us off here skiers left at Chipotle men’s ski super pipe you can really see from the top how long how steep those walls are this super pipe is gigantic y getting things started switch double cor two flips taking off backwards Landing forwards

This is two double Corks And then finally only a single cork rotation here here’s the right side oh No Just lands a little low in the transition and not able to hang on going for it two different directions spinning to the left and the right it is so unnatural to

Be able to spin both ways but that is the variety sake the just look for so you see this double cork here this is a 1260 3 and 1 half rotations comes around gets that Landing good and here’s where he went down let’s take a look at what

The problem was perhaps just a bit under spawn on the rotation lands low just unable to put the seat his feet down right underneath him so that one’s going to be a throwaway run the way it works here in superpipe you get three runs it’s your best run that counts he’s down here

Looking at a replay right now so he’ll make his way back up to the top and get ready for round round number two as we take our first look at Ben Oregon’s Hunter Hess he has two prior X Games appearances his best finish in super pipe was a sixth place back in

2022 Hunter’s got a really cool run going this season he’s been training some new smaller rotation tricks that are really unique It’s the final hit on the skier’s right side wall where I’ve seen him do a misty five it’s almost like a mtwist on a snowboard you

Snowboard at home it’s a very unnatural opposite of the- wall rotation and while it might be a small degree of spin it is one of the most beautiful tricks to watch so we’ll see if he can put that one down for here us two prior appearances he had to settle for 11th

Out here in 20120 as I just mentioned 2022 sixth place so looks like he’s ready to go here we go with Hunter Hess Hunter spends a ton of time in the streets and in the back country check out magma 3 for some of their latest video creation look at that

Switch hit corked out on that first one right side switch there’s the double cork so finally getting those massive super technical rotations the right side double KN that he has problems at the bottom of the wall there as well almost that same a similar trick a right side

Double cor and low on the pipe on that wall just having trouble Landing a bit low just before he was going to do that trick I was prefacing in the beginning but this the way he pulls that safety grab on that switch 540 so corked out so smooth and stylish here’s where the

Trouble was gets the grab but just a bit under rotated Landing low these walls are nearly vertical at the top and the key is you can’t pop out from the wall you need to pop up so when you get revved up the X game moment gets

Going you got to pop up well he may not have liked that run but I tell you what that mustache is definitely X Games mode here’s what’s at stake here in Chipotle Minsky super pipe as I mentioned before three runs the judges are working off of

A 100 point scale but Tom let’s break down some of that criteria they’re looking at here tonight yeah they’re looking at a lot of stuff it’s overall impression to score that 100 point scale but they want to see you go high out of the pipe that’s the amplitude they want

To see execution of the tricks technical difficulty of the tricks but as well variety and style are huge components so solid grabs spinning both directions and doing tricks that look impossible we now turn our attention to a gentleman from Canada he’s finished the top five in all three prior X Games appearances

Including a bronze medal it’s Brendan McCay gets things started with the switch Alley Double spinning up the wall of the pipe straight into another one of those doubles so so many flips so far in this run there’s the alley of flats been slow and steady the grab on that one

Perfect tail grab on the double cor oh okay every Rider so far on that right side Spin near the bottom having trouble but Brendan able to stomp it as we take a look at the height meter there he was 14 ft out on one of those hits another slow-mo look at that switch

Alley into the switch double traveling down the pipe so big switch doubles and look at this alley flas spin massive air great on the the’s height meter there’s the final hit here let’s take a look this is the one that’s been getting giving everybody trouble he

Lands low as well but able to just strengthen through that final Landing that’s going to be a big score able to muscle that one around what’s this one going to be for the 2020 pipe bronze medalist he gets an 81 so that’ll put him in the top spot well before we get

To our next competitor here let’s let’s check in with the third member of our crew out here tonight Kristen beat after a year spent soul searching The six-time xgame Medalist and slope style specialist Nick gerer is back but this time he’s hitting the super pipe he was

Burnt out on slop style but he still loved to ski so Nick gerer started secretly training on a halfpipe from Switzerland to Mammoth to a fourth place finish at the World Cup in December Nick gerer has shown all of us that it’s never too late to chase a new dream and

The red helmet he’s wearing it’s a replica of the helmet he wore when he was 12 years old a reminder of the joy he lost and has now found again in ski yeah we’re used to seeing him in the past in slope style and then he took a

While off he got he got he was announcing for a little bit that he was doing some competitive uh inline Park skating and then he decided to focus on pipe and now he finds he’s returned but now he finds himself in a brand new discipline and he’s rocking the jeans

Out here tonight as well Tom I was going to say maybe somewhere in the middle there he was back home in Indiana bailing hay because he’s got the the workman’s uniform where you’d see them pull up to the local Perfect North Slopes in that outerwear and just love

To see him showing how approachable skiing can be you don’t need all the best gear anything will work to get out here into the X Games 1260 to the start back to back so mirroring those rotations left and right really solid grab on that first hit with

The tail grab there’s the switch 900 then the switch double wow almost tore the back pocket off of the denim of those close to the lip of the coping of the halfpipe there but able to squeak that switch Right double around and take a look at

This that grab is so solid the judges really want to see you holding the grab for a majority of the rotation on these big lips Nick with his slope style expertise has so much practice in the air on the grabs some of the best grabs in the super pipe fans weighing in that

Style goes crazy bro what’s it going to be on the score here again the judges everybody can ski in jeans that’s right he wanted to do it in Wranglers they said but they had to find some Lucky jeans because he needed those things to stretch a little

Bit 77.6 six welcome to superpipe at the X Games Nick keer he’s a six times medalist in slope Style yes and yes we have a polar bear suit in the Corral out here tonight Nick gper did you just give him a high five as he walked by yeah I got

To give Nick a high five ni parus do up next the man from New Zealand he is taking gold here in this event before he was our 2022 gold medalist 22 and 21 he had backto back gold medals look at that drop and switch 360 in that’s the zero spin so difficult

Doesn’t spin at all but takes off switch and land switch now into the big rotations the first 1620 what happened that was not an error that’s what he’s doing it’s a carve back wall the wall into a final 1620 he hangs on with the squat at the bottom that is incredible

Highest air 16 ft and just when you thought he messed up his run that that is a new addition to the run where he’s skipping the next wall using the full edge of those skis to carve back to the same wall never seen that before uh Jimmy that’s cuz it’s never been done

Here at X Games take another look slowing it down the zero spin so smooth lands back no one can really understand how blind and hard that trick is here the biggest rotation of the night the 1620 perhaps missing the grab and there’s that carve back just ripping the

Turn looks like an Alpine Ski able to lay an edge on that icy half P been here doing the left side variation of that 16 both of those 16s the most difficult tricks we’re going to see but the landing on the final one and the grab on

Both of them may be leaving a little something for the judges to think about I the height on that last hit right there thank you so the judges having a discussion on this one waiting for that score to pop in the 81 is our top score

As of right now that’s Brendan MCA a 71.3 three this first go around I think that’s the grabs very very critical on those grabs and I know he can do that better just lock those in and that’s going to be an absolutely amazing run that was absolutely insane to see him

Just completely carve back in the middle of that run dude first time I’ve ever seen that yeah me too so Brendan McCay still holding on to that top spot our high score in the low 80s as we bring in another one of our returning gold medalist this is Aaron bour from crested

But oh so floaty on the first hit now into the double variation of that trick to the left and there’s another new variation the switch carve slash playful in the pipe style is the name of the game oh no you kidding me oh my ski flies off flies across the center

Of the super pipe Aaron blun with an amazing bit of air awareness that put his feet back under him and seemingly walk away from that one unscathed yeah that was insane he I mentioned that he is a prior gold medalist in the event he got his in 2017 here in

Aspen always a unique run look at this slashing the coping almost like if you were going to watch a park or vert skateboard events there’s that double cork just the ski comes off on the takeoff sets that trick so hard with so much power and emphasis that just blows out of that

Binding so with 2133 gain three runs best run count so that’s a throwaway but man oh man he got away from that one unscathed and he smiling that’s the important part he just looked at Tom and just made this face as he walked close call indeed from right here in Aspen the

Local just happens to be a two-time xgame SE ski super pipe jamp he has six medals total in 11 X Games appearances it’s Alex Ferrera and if he puts a run down you know that pole is going to be swinging one of these years he actually swung the

Pole so fast he hit himself self in the face with it there’s the 1620 trying to match the technicality of Nico porus switch right side double massive Run final hit left side 16 stomp Absolut stomped and spinning the pole 16 and2 ft high on that last wall oh Alex Ferrera

Has been on top all season in all the eventers look at the height meter 16t 7 in and that amplitude is combined with the technicality of those 2 1620s which is four and a half rotations two corks on each he is spinning like a top in

This run and what I love also is the grabs that 1080 all the way out on the tail grab judge is going to love that take a look let’s compare it to Nico 16 see that safety grab he gets lets go of it at the end but he locks it in in the

Middle and when that pole spinning you better believe Alex ferrera’s looking for gold look at the people behind us it’s like an X gam version of whacka all back there just jumping up and down we missed him in 2022 he had to withdraw due to injury and then he had a couple

Of nasty crashes last year and had an off year now he finds himself back up top with a 9333 I’m get a word from him real quick okay Alex Herrero how do you feel after that first round I mean you put it down I feel absolutely fantastic I’m here for

Redemption I want it uh what about this crowd here tonight say hello to your hometown I love Aspen I love you guys it’s my hometown I’m going do you guys right don’t worries what do we got next anything bigger better we’re bringing the heat let’s go okay let’s go back to

Back gold medals in 2019 and 2020 and he sits in the top spot here in round one with a 93.3 through three one more skier left to go in the rotation here in round one he just happens to be your defending gold medalist from last year this is Reno Nevada David

Wise yeah David no stranger to the top of the podium out here coming off a knee injury competed for the first time in Copper this year and to me it looked like he had never left looked like he missed no time on snow was so solid still oh there’s the switch right side

Double cork a trick that he posted on his social media about that’s been giving him trouble able to actually land that one a little low but these are lining up the switch left side okay so very technical run but the landing on the switch right side hit at

Top and that switch left side landing at the bottom anytime one of these Riders out here misses a grab blatantly or touches the ground with with a hand or their butt it all is pretty major deductions the overall impression is all about really solid Landings and just

Making the whole run look effortless and it just was a bit of a struggle for David with how technical that run was you mentioned that knee injury he had a full ACL surgery back in April and he’s already back in the lineup 64.6 for him so your defending gold medalist is going

To have to settle for fifth as of right now round one is in the books still two more rounds to go right now it’s Alex Ferrera sitting in the top spot who’s grabbing the gold we’ll find out we’ll be back with more Chipotle medy super pipe when we Return so we move on to Hunter Hess here in round number two Hunter sitting in that number seven position as of right now the 22.3 three we move on welcome everyone to the third and final night of competition out here Aspen snow Mass X Games Aspen 2024

Final set of ski Hardware to hand out this weekend it’s Chipotle men’s ski super pipe we’re here in round number two this is Hunter H Hunter starting things off with that switch by 40 corked out got the solid grab all the way through this run had some trouble near

The bottom 1260 there here’s where he had the trouble and run one the 1260 to the right then will we see that Misty Dives forward so smooth on that Misty 540 with the grab let’s [Applause] go gives a couple High FES there Hunter H putting one down run two when it

Counts take another look through this this is that smooth and stylish pokes that safety grab out the grab right under the foot there then this 1260 gets the Japan that’s to the left his more natural direction is able to do the opposite way right side and there’s that final trick only man in

The field tonight doing that unique Misty rotation in the pipe so we had a 22.3 three the first run was only good enough for say yeah must mustache adds to the style points I couldn’t agree more it’s the noise he so an 89 flat for Hunter Hassen round number two it jumps

Him up just behind Alex Ferrera that was a monster run right there for Hunter here in round number two welcome to the booth everyone Jimmy Coleman here that’s Tom wallish and we have a special guest out here tonight it’s your gold medalist from Chipotle women ski super pipe last night e goo

Eileen thanks for joining us here tonight thank you so much for having me so what did you think of that run there by Hunter hes absolutely I think Hunter skiing incredibly well this season coming off of two podiums um of course everyone’s talking about the Misty at

The bottom just so stylish so fun just doing a front flip into that wall is just mentally such a trip so really really hype for him so we turn our attention now to Canada’s Brendan McKay he was in the top spot he now sits in third here with an 81

Flat the switch Alley Double there’s the switch double then down the pipe alley flas spin that’s a trick you do in your run e love that trick such a good feeling trick and capping that BL there final hit oh there it is double 12 he’s going to be happy with that

One so last night you walked away with the gold medal and your experience I mean all these athletes going through it now what goes through the top of your run in the middle of this event when you’re competing on such a high level absolutely I think you know all the

Nerves really happen before you drop in once you actually enter the super pipe counterintuitively it feels like you’re in this Flow State it’s just you in the pipe you and your tricks in the air um and that’s I think that’s what I really love the most about skiing and I think

Tom you would agree with this but yeah just just really dialing in and toning into that yeah I think Brendan definitely did that on that run I mean maybe a miscue of on the grab or a slight Bobble there that brings the score down but he’s into the 90s a

9066 he just overtook Hunter H and puts himself in a possible silver medal spot as of right now so he and Alex fera the only two skiers a score in the 90s tonight thus far so this is run number two out of three here at Chipotle miny superpipe

It’s your best run that counts judges are working on a 100 point scale and well let’s talk about the criteria they’re looking at down in the judging Booth amplitude difficulty the combination it’s that back to back and forth stuff the left to right side rotation just being able to do it all

While also locking in grabs and keeping it easy so we have to go back and tell the story of Nick gerer yet again he is no stranger to X Games but in all of his prior appearances they’ve all been in slope style he has six total medals in

Slope style four of those being gold he retired he got into announcing for a bit he was doing some aggressive inline skating and then decided you know what I’m not done yet and decided he wanted to try his hand at Super pipe and now he’s here at the X Games what do you

Think een of his Look Tonight with the denim is this something we’ll see you wearing at the next event well I really love the message is sending tonight he um mentioned on his Instagram earlier that he wants to show that skiing really is for everyone for the small town

People and this is actually remake of one of the outfits he wore when he was little and he posted a photo he was adorable so so cute e take us through his run tell us what’s going on absolutely so Nick coming from slow style is just so good at holding these

GRS Double 12 mute there coming into this right side cor 10 blun and let’s see there it is Big switch Cork and we’ll be see the switch double there it is switched up 10 landed clean so happy for him you know for the amount of time he spent in pipe he is just

Absolutely blowing everyone away he learned all four-way doubles at a camp in one week and that was just absolutely mindblowing oh a little and you as well compete in halfpipe and slope style what translates is it the grabs is it the rotation what is the biggest similarity that Nick

Seems to have an advantage in this event I think absolutely the grabs are huge part of it and and I would say I add that into my own run as well and really just the Precision here you can see that he has such good air awareness even

Though you know maybe the takeoffs and landings are a little bit different here in the half Vibe landing on a 22t ice wall but just all those years of being in the air flipping continuously you can really see he knows what he’s doing with

His body he had a 77. 66 the first going around he’ll get an 87.3 three bumps up the score quite a bit but still not going to jump into the medals as of right now Nick keer making skiing in jeans stylish again that’s Cherry Walker

In on the chat he also has an entire crew of friends and family out here that are rocking the same attire out here tonight as well but again I mean that’s impressive I mean an 8733 I mean after all those years in slop style and then decide to

Set your sights on pipe and then to get that done in that short of a time frame can we talk about what ni porus did in the first run what are we calling the cut back maybe e talked to him at the top what are we calling that cut

Back at the bottom yeah I mean I guess it it could be his name I think we’ve been calling it kind of like a slash move or a or a cut back but yeah it really is a a moment of creativity what I’m curious about is him oh there it is

The 16 again really hold amplitude that looks ridiculous just purely skipping the other wall and wrapping it back to the same wall only athlete Ski and Snowboard to my knowledge that’s ever done that as part as their technical run here at xgames how do you stop in the

Middle of the flap on him and then maintain enough speed to go back up the wall you just landed on takes so much Precision Absolutely zero spin at the top was so smooth I love that trick and this he he just didn’t have the grabs that were solid on run one here the grabs are better but it’s still that final hit we’ll see it in slowmo did heat Bobble on the landing

Judges have been so critical lately on that oh that’s tough I mean that’s such a solid run the hand kind of goes down but did it stabilize them the cut back though never been done can see on that reaction shot salma’s loving it down there on the host at 72.6 so there

They’re docking him for that yeah so that’s going to keep him in that number five spot but I mean he stops in the middle of the pipe and then goes back up the same wall that he just landed on that is absolutely insane and he’s done it twice out here

Tonight go back up to the top of the PIP beard we’re getting ready for Aaron blun we still have Alex fera and David Wise left to go here David Wise your defending gold medalist finds himself in the number six spot we’ll have the conclusion of round two of three here in

Chipotle men Sky super pipe when we come back to Aspen X game Aspen is brought to you by Fair’s natural remedies for better-looking skin and St Hubert the Stag long live the wild enjoy Responsibly mys yeah yeah me freaking I nursing a hip injury what an unbelievable run here’s tiger oh my Well that’s a fa’s daily refresh of some of the action of the weekend it’s a packed house out here tonight at Aspen snow M last night of competition here for X Games Aspen 2024 we are here in the bottom portion of round number two of three Chipotle men’s ski super

Pipe welcome back to the booth everyone Jimmy Coleman here alongside Tom wallish and as you just saw in that fa’s daily refresh shots of our gold medalist from women ski super pipe ien goo but right now we’re going to go full hand we’re going to get a fourth announcer in the

Booth let’s check in with Salma Masa down in the H set hi buddy hi guys how are you Bitter Sweet the last night at X Games always but I’m having a blast watching uh this men’s ski super pipe and I know the judges are haters but

Nick pteas is is doing what I’m calling the bottom turn the fact that he’s deciding to use the super pipe a little bit like a wave sets up that wall again with the bottom turn that got me fired up as a surfer so I hope that he keeps

On being disruptive and we can make that a trend both in snowboarding and in skiing because that’s amazing I I love it just completely stops and then goes right back up the same wall he’s done it twice and he he makes it look easy that’s a really good reference too it is

A Surf move it’s a bottom turn he cuts all the way out and all the way back up he’s got some good juice some good wax on those skis I don’t know how how he maintains the speed that’s insane you know it was only good enough for

72.6 but you talked about it probably getting docked on that last hit with the landing right there love to see there’s still another round of runs to go and it is the best run that counts we go back up to the top here to crested butes Aon

Blunk four time X Games super pipe medalist he owns a couple of silvers and one of those just happens to be gold I got to ask aren you glad to see him back at the top Oh I thought we were going to be making some taco jokes out here

Tonight with the Chipotle sponsorship but you’re going for some color puns I love it yeah I just had to do it I mean he’s got that bright outfit but also on this dark night able to see the action so well we saw in men Sky Big Air some

Of the black outerwear against the Dark Skies I was having trouble seeing what rotations they were doing they were also doing 2160s which is hard to count but this is helpful thank you Aaron switch doing that variation then as a double those are so blind that’s the style element added to

The run and of all things for him to go down on that is unfortunate e what do you think about some of these new things we’re seeing halfpipes so technical but what are those Style Elements and do you ever want to incorporate some of these new unique tricks into your RS

Absolutely you know I think that X Games now with so much increased focus on style is something that’s incredible for the sport really preserving that heart and that spirit so I love seeing that out here especially in the half bite um and hey I was joking about this

Yesterday but with my outfit my bedazzled situation my goggles which took me 5 hours to make okay so you made those yourself I did make them myself but hey maybe the XG game style can expand to Fashion as well maybe we get a little style points there I feel like

Blun would definitely get some just a personal opinion so we’ll have to look to round three for Aon before we get to our next next gear here’s our Pacifico discover more with Local Hero and the pole spinner Alex Ferrera it’s the local boy alex fera up

Next ready to drop ni night here please how much for a ticket today it’s for free for you man follow me up baby off with the Ferrera trademark hey can I get a coffee for you it’s free brother there’s the PO spin it’s hoping I could

Get a new stat for my panai flyback okay what do you think it is watch out let’s go this one’s on the house bro the whole crowd is loving this kick let’s go baby fire me up it’s pole spinning time baby hopefully he’s not slinging that thing around like that when he’s hanging

Out down at home team later on tonight after this competition’s over I don’t want to get hit in the face while I’m ordering Wings in a after work Pacifico so yeah come on Alex be careful Alex has just been having an incredible season we’ve shared the top of the podium twice

Already this season and hopefully we’ll keep it going I was talking to him last night he said his energy was high and he’s feeling really good let’s see what the hometown boy has to deliver tonight dropping in looks like he’s holding a bit of speed

Here oh and a switch double cork so this is an improvement from last run when we saw the single and now we see the right side 16 just so clean and just so much power in that into the left side 10 oh and just a little bit off there on that Landing

Uncharacteristic but oh looks like use a practice run here just throw a 1620 in and a throwaway it’s pretty impressive that bottoming out and losing your speed you just come back and do that on your last I think I’ll just do this right here wow this is that 16 and slow it just

Seems so blind that wrap in the middle is literally wrapped up up like a burrito you would say he goes blind and looks up and still even after that Bobble I love that he just goes flips around and this is the hardest trick we’re seeing

All night and he just does it for fun it seems like you don’t do 16s in the pipe for fun no no no there is not enough guacamole in the world to get me to want to go do that there you are I was waiting for it all night to come chipot

Chipotle Len let’s talk about what you’ve said so far out here tonight you’ve got three puns in the mix look at the tagboard my girl is such a pro on camera and behind this is her second time by the way she was in the booth with us last year for slow so eloquent

Could listen to her commentary full time what are we listening to tonight I know we have a little special queue you want to you want to tell us a little bit about that yes featuring Rich the kid and Kyle K Camp yes sir yes to the next

Run let’s get it she’s calling R she’s getting sideline reports right there trying to find out what people are listening to when they’re coming down the pipe you’re in all around her e I’m so flattered it’s a busy day here in the booth we’re really doing Doing It Here

Comes Your defending gold medalist from 2023 this is David Wise does he get and that trick just historically gives him so much trouble recently he posted on his Instagram a heavy crash that he saw that he had during training you know just got up like a champ what what do you think goes

Wrong there is it the set on that one he always seems to come around a bit short of 10 to me yeah it does it does look like that I would say on his takeoff just a little bit of patience on that extension just give him a little bit

More confidence in getting back into the pipe well e thanks for joining us here in the booth to help call run number two we here you’ve got some other business to take care of out here tonight you’re going to be handing out the medals we’re going to take a quick break Alex Ferrera

Sitting in the top spot here with a 93.33% what My games it’s freaking perfect out I goo nursing a hip injury what an unbelievable run here’s tiger oh my 1760 and that’s a their’s daily refresh of some of the action of the weekend it’s a packed house out here tonight at Aspen snow M last night of competition here for X Games Aspen 24 we are here in the bottom portion of round number two of three Chipotle men’s ski super

Pipe welcome back to the booth everyone Jimmy Coleman here alongside Tom wallish and as you just saw on that Fair’s daily refresh shots of our gold medalist from womeni Super pipe Ian goo but right now we’re going to go full hand we’re going to get a fourth announcer in the booth

Let’s check in with Salma Masa down in the hoet hi buddy hi guys how are you Bittersweet the last night at X Games always but I’m having a blast watching uh this men’s ski super pipe and I know the judges are haters but Nick pteas is is doing what I’m calling the bottom

Turn the fact that he’s deciding to use the super pipe a little bit like a wave sets up that wall again with the bottom turn that got me fired up as a surfer so I hope that he keeps on being disruptive and we can make that a trend both in

Snowboarding and in skiing because that’s amazing I I love it just completely stops and then goes right back up the same wall he’s done it twice and he he makes it look easy that’s a really good reference to it is a Surf move it’s a bottom turn he cuts all the

Way out and all the way back up he’s got some good juice some good wax on those skis I don’t know how he maintains the speed that’s insan you know it was only good enough for 72.6 but you talked about it probably getting docked on that last hit with the

Landing right there we’ll have to see there’s still another round of runs to go and it is the best run that counts we go back up to the top here to crested butes Bel four time X Games super pipe medalist he owns a couple of silvers and

One of those just happens to be gold I got to ask orangen you glad to see him back at the top Oh I thought we were going to be making some taco jokes out here tonight with the Chipotle sponsorship but you’re going for some

Color punts I love it I just had to do it I mean he’s got that bright outfit but also on this dark night able to see the action so well we saw in meny Big Air some of the black outer wear against the Dark Skies I was having trouble

Seeing what rotations they were doing they were also doing 2160s which is hard to count but this is helpful thank you Aaron switch doing that variation then as a double those are so blind oh that’s the style element added to the running and of all things for him to go

Down on that is unfortunate I what do you think about some of these new things we’re seeing halfpipes so technical but what are those Style Elements and do you ever want to incorporate some of these new unique tricks into your RS absolutely you know I think that X Games

Now with so much increased focus on style is something that’s incredible for the sport really preserving that heart and that spirit so I love seeing that out here especially in the half b um and hey I was joking about this yesterday but with my outfit my bedazzled

Situation my goggles which took me 5 hours to make okay so you made those yourself I did make them myself but hey maybe the X game style can expand to Fashion as well maybe we get a little style points there I feel like blun would definitely get some just a

Personal opinion we’ll have to look to round three for Aaron before we get to our next gear here’s our Pacifico discover more with Local Hero and the pole spinner Alex Ferrera it’s the local boy alex fera up next ready to drop next night here please how much for a ticket today it’s

For free for you man follow me up baby off with the Ferrera trademark hey can I get a coffee for you it’s free brother there’s the PO spin I hoping I could get a new Strat from my panai flyback okay what do you think it is watch out let’s

Go this one’s on the house bro the whole crowd is loving this Ki let’s go baby fire me up it’s pole spinning time baby hopefully he’s not slinging that thing around like that when he’s hanging out down at home team later on tonight after this competition’s over I don’t

Want to get hit in the face while I’m ordering wings and a after work Pacifico so yeah come on Alex be careful Alex has just been having an incredible season we’ve shared the top of the podium twice already this season and hopefully we’ll keep it going I was talking to him last

Night he said his energy was high and he’s feeling really good let’s see what the hometown boy has to deliver tonight dropping in looks like he’s holding a bit of speed here oh and a switch double cork so this is an improvement from last run when we

Saw the single and now we see the right side 16 just so clean and just so much power in that into the left side 10 oh and just a little bit off there on that Landing uncharacteristic but oh looks like he’ll use a practice run here just throw a

1620 in and a throwaway so casual it’s pretty impressive that they’re bottoming out and losing your speed you just come back and do that on your last I think I’ll just do this right here wow this is that 16 and slow it just seems so blind that wrap in the middle is

Literally wrapped up up like a burrito you would say he goes blind and looks up and still even after that Bobble I love that he just goes flips around and this is the hardest trick we’re seeing all night and he just does it for fun it

Seems like you don’t do 16s in the pipe for fun no no no there is not enough guacamole in the world to get me to want to go do there you are I was waiting for it all night come chipot Chipotle Len let’s talk about what you’ve said so far

Out here tonight you’ve got three puns in the mix look at the tagboard my girl is such a pro on camera and behind this is her second time by the way she was in the booth with us last year for slowy so eloquent could listen to her commentary full

Time what are we listening to tonight I know we have a little special queue you want to you want to tell us a little bit about that yes featuring Rich the kid in Kyle K Camp yes sir yes to the next run let’s get it she’s calling runs she’s

Getting sideline reports right there trying to find out what people are listening to when they’re coming down the pipe you’re in all around her e so flattered it’s a busy day here in the booth we’re really doing it here comes your defending gold medalist from 2023 this is David

Wise does he get it and that trick just historically gives him so much trouble recently he posted on his Instagram a heavy crash that he saw that he had during training you know just got up like a champ what what do you think goes

Wrong there is it the set on that one he always seems to come around a bit short of 10 to me yeah it does it does look like that I would say on his takeoff just a little bit of patience on that extension which just give him a little

Bit more confidence in getting back into the pipe well e thanks for joining us here in the booth to help call run number two we hear you’ve got some other business to take care of out here tonight you’re going to be handing out the medals we’re going to take a quick

Break Alex Ferrera sitting in the top spot here with a 93.33% We move on here into round number three Jan Saladin is out he took a nasty hit there in run number two so X gamees medical checking came out right now so we move on to Hunter H so Hunter was down kind of in the bottom of the pack

There and found himself sitting in the a bronze medal position he jumped up to Silver but then he got bumped down to the bronze spot with an 89 with one more run to go we saw that really unique Misty at the end okay Hunter H brand new trick

For him out here tonight that switch down the pipe nine all stalled out the double courts coming now left and right this right side gets it can he put down the Misty on the final hit it’s gigantic Hunter H so smooth look at the height meter 50t 9 in gets a hug from

Aaron blun out there wow I got to hit the awesome that was huge this is so cool so stylish the way he holds it out there’s meter all the way up to Unreal double cork to the left with the Japan grab then the right side

One take a look at this Landing has to roll it around and muscles it refuses to put a hand down then somehow manages so much speed to do this forward Misty stalled out grabbing and the landing that’s what we call afterbang so with 89 that say he’s into

The 90s Hunter H with a 92 he overtakes brenon MCC jumps back up into a silver metal spot I said it at the top of the contest his best finishing super fight with six back in 2022 he’s looking at a potential medal out here tonight

Just yet we go back up to the top to Nick gerer we’ve been telling the tale of his dominance and slope style over the years and decided to focus on pipe here the Midway through the 2023 season said you know what I want to ride pipe

Here he is and he’s knocking on the door of the podium right now Tom with an 8733 yeah I mean he’s got the tricks he’s got the double corks and like when we spoke to e She also talked about this the slope style training over these years and all his competition success

His grabs and his air awareness for every one of these technical double cork Maneuvers is so high it’s just so impressive that he only started riding even in this discipline about less than a year ago a year ago even and for those of you that may just be joining us and

You’re watching like is he doing this in jeans yes he is jeans in a hoodie it’s a tribute to his Midwest Roots the man from Lawrenceburg Indiana is in for his third and final run let’s see if he can lock in that tail grab on that double cor 12 held the enti enre

Time so solid on the left side 12 as well right side 1080 we’ll see this switch left nine then will we see the switch right side double he’s got it switch right side double cork 1080 Nick Geer just got off the farm and out here trying to get a medal at X

Games doing the happy dance yet again out here look at the average highest was 1311 the average was right around 13 ft well done Nick Gper that’s X Games mode take a look at this first one take a Pico Deo at that grab pulling it you can see the flex of the ski Jimmy he almost snaps it and here the 1260 to the left I mean the grabs he really is just so locked in I

Couldn’t even tell you how many double cork 1260s he’s done on jumps on the slopes side course it’s thousands maybe tens of thousands so that’s why those grabs are just so perfect it’s the repetition and the practice over the years just so solid cma’s reaction says

It all right down there hanging out on the H set oh my goodness jeans and all so what’s it going to be on the score he had an 8733 four these into the 90s a 91.33 in case so you had any doubts he can do it cuz he just jumped in a Podium

Contention out here tonight everybody can ski in jeans that’s his message let’s see if we can get it real quick for a question Nick tell us about the look and and what you’re trying to Showcase here bro listen anybody can ski in jeans doesn’t matter who you are if you live near some

Snow you could ski in jeans baby thank you for supporting Nick congratulations on the awesome run oh my my goodness a 91.33 that is a tough break there for Brendan McCay but Nick keer looking at potentially adding his first ever uh piece of xgame superpipe Hardware to his

Trophy case wow with four skiers left to go Nico porus sits in that number five position with a 72.6 I am so excited for this run look at this stylish maneuver that 180 into that Pop there oh the zero spin so smooth so steady there’s the switch

Double cork here’s that right side 16 get is he going to be three for three oh my goodness come on the bottom turn is successful will the 1620 be there Nico bous on the third and final run 262s the bottom turn carve back absolutely unseen in the sports history a like

That he’s done that three different times out and I keep talking about it but it blows me wa how do you completely stop and then go back up that same wall got to highlight this as it never been done it’s not necessarily just the tricks in it it’s that first move adding

That style element the the turn back in the middle it’s something unlike anything I’ve ever seen to be able to land a 1620 and then he carves all the way back around on that one I mean and he finally gets all the landings to me it looks like he gets at

Least all the grabs at least for a portion there’s the safety that one much better than before more amplitude Perfect Landing on that and CMA also excited I mean wow that challenges the podium that that could challenge the top spot with if the judges reward creativity that’s got to

Challenge Alex Ferrera all right what’s going to be 72.6 6 was his best score prior to the run it’s got him down to fifth place you need better than a 91.33 is he going to get it a 92. 66 to put him in the silver for now that’s a tough

Break from Nick gber who just jumped up in Podium contingent so now it’s Alex Ferrera Nico partus and Hunter H your one two three with three skiers left to go my goodness let’s let’s check in with Jason aens and the judges down there about that one

You got a question for him no I got to say what are we rewarding there is it the carve back or is it the 1620s in this sport now oh yeah a lot of lot of creativity in that run with Nico the zero spin the carve back uh he did get

The grabs a little bit on the 16s which is really Tech but just a really fun run to watch with the zero and the carve back okay so it’s the creativity and Aaron Blanc in the pipe now does he have some of his own including that slash up on the

Lip technical moves in his own addition to that style factor with the slash along the lips and the snow shower for everybody down here in the Corral as well as us here in the booth all of us got a little bit snowy down here as we take another look Aaron blun the first

Hit does the double cork there slashes it so fun to see that it is a coping Tri like you would see in skateboarding or something and there’s that double flat spin looks like he missed the safety grab on that one on this bottom one though locks in the tail grab little bit

Back seat but does he get it and there’s us just getting absolutely toasted that’s okay you can make it up to me just trying to Shield the telestrator and all the paperwork here and Nicole from research sitting behind us trying to keep her laptop from getting sprayed down fun thank you everyone for

Supporting thank you as yo bro just lip slide or lip slid in the comp he sure did he did it a couple of times right there so now we’re down to Alex Ferrera and David Wise are last two skiers Alex is in the top three he’s in the top spot with that

9333 we know he’s walking out of here with a medal the last thing standing between our top three is David Wise who gets to ski Last by virtue of being your defending gold medalist Alex Ferrera can hang on and get that gold here tonight this place is going to go absolutely

Mental it is going to be bedum here in Aspen tonight no better place to be guaranteed first or second will he add the switch double cork in again how did he get that around he had to dive that around then the 1620 this is shaping up to be one of the most

Technical halfpipe runs ever done the switch double cork to the right one more 1620 Alex Ferrera four weight double cork variations 262s the most technical run I have ever seen here at X Games with the height meter up at 176 this one was interesting to me looks

Like he gets the Japan but he almost comes out of it in a roll rotation so cool to see that he still gets it there’s H meter I’m going all the way up I can’t help it everything in this run is so difficult that grab locked in

Let’s go Stomps the landing and again these 1620s I cannot describe how hard it is to spin that fast he does it by pulling the safety grab to his back sort of gets into a worm roll or a a wrapped up roll to create the spin 17.6 ft and

He gets a 95. 33 that was two full points ahead right there I told you listen to that reaction from the fans right here a 95.33% he just happens to own five that’s right five gold medals in this event including last year that’s why he gets the luxury of skiing last this is Reno Nevada’s David wise as you see ien goo on the right side of your screen there holding on to those coveted super

Pipe medals here we go David Wise needs this first hit is the most important part of his run the switch right side double no the First wall David Wise unfortunately the trick that he has posted about shared about that’s been giving him trouble unable to put it down

And that means Alex Ferrera golden again and Aspen and how about Hunter hes his first ever medal here at the X Games his two prior appearances he had an 11th in 2020 in 2022 he had the settle for six and he walks out of here with a bronze medal congratulations Hunter H

Alexer the 1620s Nico pus the 1620s so difficult all these tricks you can’t even tell what’s happening in full speed he’s spinning so fast they’re both grabbed wrapped up and The Landings on that final one Perfection look at this year waiting for that for a year and so has Aspen look at

The CF people just crowding around him right now e going in for the hug oh again like she said before I said before they’ve shared the top of every Podium so far this season they do it again here at X Games Aspen let’s get it down to Kristen beat Alex before we went

Live I heard you say the sweetest Redemption I’ve ever had why is that yeah a lot of people told me after last year to stop skiing and man am I glad I didn’t listen listen to them right let’s go fire me up big words Alex congratulations on the gold medal enjoy this

One what a night that was and the hometown hero takes it away here at Chipotle men’s ski superpipe when it’s all said and done it is Hunter Hess walking away with his first ever X Games medal with the bronze Nico pus takes the silver that’s his fourth super pipe

Medal but it’s Alex Ferrero claiming his third ever X Games super pipe Gold

  1. X games should add style and creativity in the judging, with heavy weightings. Leave the spin to win for the wold cup and the olympics, promote more steeze!

  2. Stopped watching when they gave Porteous a 71 for that creative run. Half pipe is the hardest discipline to get creative at. XGames judges scoring like its the Olympics, sad…

  3. Definitely the worst half pipe comps I've ever seen. These dudes don't even clean 12 feet. Come on… where's Gus n Tanner

  4. Another video ruined by having the winners in the thumbnail. Seriously its like media 101. What 16 year old are you getting to publish your content?!

  5. Congrats, Alex! Met you at the Grateful Deli before the race and you could not have been nicer and appreciative of all the support. You are Aspen’s hometown rockstar! Keep crushing it!!!!

  6. Has X Games fallen off a lot in terms of popularity in the last decade? I remember insane crowds at ski superpipe and slope finals through the 2000's glory days… there's like 50 people there now.

  7. I see a lot of people saying that Nico was robbed. Well. The way i see it , it's like this : Nico INDEED had the MOST STYLISH runs and that mid pipe carve back to the same wall is INSANE. BUT , the technical difficulty isn't even CLOSE to the Alex's last run. Doing THAT run (Alex) with that amount of control and making look like it was a walk in the park it's NOTHING less than SUPERB ! Peace
