Feel like they just fly the same yardage every time yeah just kind of what you want pretty much the name of the Game miky Boy obviously coming from the blade feels yeah totally different a little bit more confidence in this s so different it really does me the Blade’s

Lovely okay guys welcome back to the channel we are still heavily heavily in release season Michael know never ending never ending no it’s good I love New Gear the endless release season and we do love it so today we have we have an iron uh product to review M from the most

Successful iron company in the history of the game successful being defined by the amount of major championships won by this company 62 in case you were wondering do you remember their first I do yes that was around back in those days good old Wilson everyone Good Old

Wilson um Good Old Wilson and and I think that’s something that they’re looking to revamp that that whole mindset by certain people in the golf industry that is good old Wilson M because they’re not good old Wilson they’re trying to reinvent themselves they’re trying to modernize themselves

And trying to become relevant in this uh in this time and space of innovation yeah I think the the first place to start is on the aesthetic The Shield yeah yeah the S the Ws has gone oh yeah good point right so it’s a modern Shield

They’ve actually taken the W and the S off in order to try to modernize the the look of the iron I like it very very very clean looking I mean the blade obviously we get it a blad’s looks looks sick but this little CB action you like

It I could dabble um very much like last week’s iron when we tested the new blueprints uh you’ve got sort of a family right siblings Big Brother little brother sort of idea same Lofts easy to combo they in custom both go down to two AR two three up to wedge so tons and

Tons of options but you’re the look is a showstopper so good classic yeah yeah yeah especially this guy obviously you know everyone’s going to be intimidated um to to hit it you know if you are wondering whether you’re good enough to hit it you’re probably not uh this is the the volume

Play obviously in the family lots of people will be flocking to test this one I think their push on tour as well they have some staff players they’ve always had staff players but we see a lot more players gearing towards stuff like this you know t00 whatever it is so um a

Blade’s nice but I don’t think some tour players don’t even want to hit blades no no it’s right it’s a it’s a diminishing category for sure um aesthetically obviously that you can see where the waiting is focused out on the toe both fluid field hoso which is

Basically what looks like a some kind of like a Thro you know an old school thrb pin from the 975 uh D Days um but Wilson have always had that that kind of fluid feel H the idea guys is to remove some unnecessary weight from the the heel from the hosle

And replace out in the toe and that’s how we make an iron that’s really not designed to be forgiven like a blade more forgiven it UPS the Moi we push the CG more to side means offc Center strikes are more stable they’re more sort of feel and performance enhanced uh

Easier to create that with a perimeter weighted Club quite difficult with a blade Club um so you know obviously while you want to establish the look you also need to establish the performance definitely what do you think of the details like even around the hle the little sort of little uh details around

There I really like that I’ve got an old set of uh Wilsons from the’ 70s in the in the house and they have you know a similar detail a little longer you know feral as well um you know the old bore through kind of look yeah it’s a classic

You find a set of Wilsons from back in the day and compare them to these very similar in certain parts but um as a as a blade goes this is pretty clean when they came into the shop I think every fitter was like holy moly I’m in so um

I’m excited to see how they perform okay well let’s do it okay all right Fraz we’re back in Dubai virtually be nice to be there in real life yeah we be playing Mr Boucher today he Mac Boucher mint um 130 yards starting with pitch and wedge thoughts

Out of the gates on look address I know you’re a pitching wedge connoisseur yeah I like it shapewise is it’s nice it’s tiny has a yeah a little bit of a rounded Leading Edge a little more round than I would like I would straighten that out

And they’d be just about there but yeah the the transition profile from hoso into Leading Edge is just about there I’ll just take it a little bit the rounding uh part of the leag edge but yeah shape wise is is really really nice I think I mean we’ve seen the the other

Irons but for me starts to get really special around 8 seven six that’s when the shape starts to be right in my wheelhouse but uh yeah let’s let’s see 130 you know a little bit less than certainly I would hit a normal wedge but I’m not expecting to be getting too

Much help let’s see it it’s as good as I can hit it just end the test right there pzo got toy actually felt pretty good my immediate feedback was that was absolutely flushed I would not have guessed that that was it was a little the toe pretty good strike was

Decent they been feel great yeah I mean it it sounds like how I think every blade we’ve tested or has been tested sounds which is good it’s not a bad thing no feel like they’re all round pin High yeah like 130 131 we bit thinner so we got a bit more

Spin strain that a little still have the legs to get there on that little thin shot is the wind coming at the right or something these are that’s nice chance nope no sure C slightly left it sounded better strike 79 Michael looks good very good tons of confidence standing over that ball at

170 yards out that was crispy that have a chance oh very predictable aren’t they can know we set our stall out with our yardages and it’s pretty good yeah even the ones that you know a fraction low you you’re not like you’re not losing much on it

Which is nice and the other part of that is as well is I’m actually not really feeling that that didn’t feel thin or low or I feel I felt good with that I mean that’s right out the toe right out the toe that is a that’s that’s on the

Chrome done well how’s that end up going further than the last one I have no clue spin yeah retained all the ball speed and kept and lowered the spin that’s what you want receiver back I’m back swing you be happy with the result who’s that get Jerry

Kelly every swing just like flyes good but he’s got a funky savior finish my young Jerry Kelly is he even alive who Jerry Kelly isn’t the champion to it’s a little right at the Target Mikey it’s okay it’s okay well give it his credit it sounds great it looks good all right

I call the test I’m glad you’re hitting it because I have no business touching that for iron and to be honest after hitting the blueprint last week this feels fine yeah a small iron I’d love to see what the two iron looks like so I hit that pretty good just left

The face it’s t open I’ll take it Mikey yeah Struck it in the heart I mean decent decent speed out of it yeah spins pretty good nice High Flight 116 that sounded pure it’s sailing over the flag isn’t it going a Long Way 2 okay move that flag back we bits you

Work out on the weekend I did I was never at the gym Jack 215 uh sure yeah to H you go 20 cuz it’s going to be only 205 to cover the water 215 will roll up the flag it gives them a chance let’s see it

Carry a wee bit to win the tournament to win the Dub Des a classic Michael is that what it’s called the hero the Dubai is it the hero I think it’s the hero is it really yeah good for that you’re a superhero for hitting that shot thanks Michael thank you only In Your

Eyes Only In Your Eyes one more one nice real good swing P High left but pretty good I’d take it I tell you what I would it’s a long for iron I would take that all day okay not sure why we’ve done this but we’re uh we’re going the easier one now

We’re going the easy route now all right F CB time went from the hardest to I know a little bit easier that was your idea wasn’t it give yourself a challenge yeah shape doesn’t change Top Line changes yeah a little thicker yeah y let’s have a look a short to to heel nice

Flight simple slightly pulley actually hung on quite well to it line I thought it was going to miss the green little bit feel like they just fly the same yardage every time yeah which is kind of what you want pretty much the name of the game Mikey boy obviously

Coming from the blade feels yeah totally different a little bit more confidence in this iron so different it really does I mean the Blade’s lovely yeah but this is just there you can feel the Forgiveness they are quite different in shape like Top Line especially yeah that Top Line definitely

Gets a little thicker yeah and they’ve not tried to hide it there’s no real angle to it it’s very Square I think they could probably take a third of it and just angle it like we have seen other companies do this year and it would it would really sort of it

Wouldn’t have to take away from the the way the frame influences the feel of the iron we know from a vibration standpoint that’s the purpose of a slightly thicker outside frame perimeter waiting obviously from for a forgiveness standpoint Mii but also for fuel as soon as the vibration

Disperses and it hits these thicker walls it’s kind of retained within the head which feels more solid right so if they can just angle that Top Line a little bit did you move that flag huh I’m joking I’m joking we joke quite good bit more speed out of that I didn’t feel

Like I had 125 in me at all with the other one that’s just that’s just head construction right cuz they are the exact same Loft strike sound is really good numbers are numbers are solid yeah 130 ft in the air yeah 64 tons of spin tons of spin slightly thin but I’ll take

It I mean you saw that on the blade too you you know you miss it a bit and you still get away with it yeah nice to see it extend into this iron y there it is it’s a better strike mhm good flight too so launch up a little

Bit on these versus the blade spins down a little bit no identical same good combo iron look at that it’s quite quite interesting same almost yeah that one felt nice was that four yep okay last but not least Mikey yeah for iron with a little bit more help than what you previously were

Using that’s this for and looks really really nice similar to what you tested last week a little blueprint a little two 43 yeah yeah you’re I mean you’re all getting in s of you know there there’s no still no addition of tech if you like but the shape looks good for

For the amount of Loft I always think that’s an important factor in how it looks it’ll be a decent result but it wasn’t much of a strike sounded really good it was kind of high in the head okay lost a bit ball speed I felt higher toe

Yeah better yeah it’s clean just cover the number this that a little bit more yeah that different though in terms of carry from the blade I don’t think so 217 I mean they’re pretty simar same the one thing if you start to look at it we obviously it’s the dispersion yeah the

Blade I kind of had a little misl right a little two good ones but yeah other than that the numbers are quite similar decent Healy it’s just the Forgiveness you can just really see it start to on that on that slight M hit it’s just it doesn’t look like a m hit

In the air that’s for sure no still looks like quite a strong flight I mean the best strike of the bunch just couldn’t quite get it to turn over but it’s still that same it’s really good same carry really really good impressive okay let’s take a

Peek all right Mikey Let’s uh let’s dive in I will say on that CB the way you hit it like standard deviation is pretty tight spin all that but the um I mean it’s it’s almost the same IR the nice thing with the CB is if you miss it a

Little bit you get away from get away with it more than anything and this is why combo sets exist because really when it comes to a cavity back or or a blade the amount of Loft that’s on it really does mitigate a lot of the Forgiveness

You know that you know people talk about forgiveness really isn’t much forgiveness to be had when you get that much loft so yeah very very similar 7 to S started to see a little bit more horsepower come out but launches the same spin identical you get a little bit

More carry out of it yeah just it’s all it’s all right there but these are the same standard deviation is exactly the same it’s same and then I think it started to get little bit different here right like standard deviation a joke more ball speed you know slightly higher flight tighter

Dispersion probably the surprise to a lot of people will be the the same carry distance but you know I think if you’re if you’re sort of kind of similar in ball speed and launch and spin you’re going to get that just I didn’t feel like I had the same control over the

Face yeah you’re able to you know strike maybe a little bit higher with the CB model and obviously dispersions tighter yeah um both good irons I can see why uh see why it’s you know probably one of the easier ones to combo for for a fitter that’s for sure seems like there there’s

A lot of this going on right now in terms of combo making it easy to combo sets by making Lofts the same and and you can see when it’s engineered correctly as it really does appear to have been here you can see why the result is a very easy

Combo um you know the player gives the fitter hopefully the fitter gives them the sort of license go okay let’s let’s jump into the cavity here this strike is starting to move around the Str head a little bit but it’s good yeah great IR stuff really really good okay guys um

Lots of Wilson fans out there we get the request to test Wilson a lot um and and sort of when they make an iron that that looks as good I’m not surprised there’s this much demand to be to be testing them they they are great so um

Yeah it’ll be be interesting to see what comes up next where where they invest their time and resources in I’m not sure the company’s plans uh in terms of you know Market position you know might be great to get them in the podcast May talk them about that explore the brand a

Bit yeah a little bit just sometimes there’s it feels like this is maybe a little bit of a shift in Vision like we talked about with the staff badge modernizing it just trying to change the consumer opinion as to who the brand are yes so I don’t think there’s any

Surprise to us that they performed well no I I’ve never heard anyone slight the performance of of Wilson irons never no we’ we’ve never really I mean we’ve never had them in the drawers up here I know they have them down in the in the US stores we have tested them on the

Channel they’ve always done really well yeah they look great they performed they’ve been around forever um and like you said as that kind of Club is being a little bit more modernized I mean yeah I’m excited to see what they have next because it I mean the iron looks great

It performed that CB performed I could I got a couple customers in mind that would that would use that CB no issues okay guys so thoroughly impressed um yeah for those of you who love the shape of of a Wilson iron uh they’re going to they’re going to have shelf appeal

They’re going to have totally appeal to to people who are looking at the performance certainly our drawers pull open your your eyes is going to go to especially the blade I think just that high polish chrome just really does catch your ey everyone everyone loves a

Blade they do they do excellent okay let us know guys uh our well your thoughts this season obviously we’ve tested some great irons over the last couple of weeks um is this something that makes the makes this sort of selection sort of mindset for yourselves is this one

You’re going to go in and demand to try would love to know your thoughts uh yeah hopefully we get some more Wilson products coming soon I think we actually are there’s some wedges potentially coming down the line as well so excited to get those on the channel stay tuned

For more and we’ll see you again soon

  1. For anyone who thinks the blades arent forgiving enough for them, just give them a shot you might be surprised. These things are pure class

  2. When can we expect to see review video of new Fujikura ventus blue velocore+ shaft?

  3. Still gaming the V6s – no plan of replacing them packs everything I want in an iron! Really consistent numbers

  4. Played their tour blades back in college. No idea why they don’t bring back the red/black logo. Best logo ever.

  5. I had the privilege to be fitted at the Wilson Innovation Center in Chicago for the Staff blades. By far the best irons I’ve ever owned. Had the CB’s and wasn’t sure I could play the blades (based on everything you hear about how hard blades are to hit) and surprisingly I hit the blades better. Great company!

  6. I like the fact that the blade and CB look like they are from the same family. The last CB and blade looked too different from each other, even though both performed very well.

  7. Wilson Irons are amazing. I love them. I buy whats good when I find it on sale, so I bought Mizuno irons on Black Friday. If some Wilson Irons had been for sale for the same price on the same day, I would have bought the Wilson's.

  8. Beautiful irons that perform as good as anything in n the market. However, there is one area Wilson is missing a model IMO. I have some speed so I still play the C300 Forged (a 33 deg 7 iron). I don’t want a 30.5 deg D7F or D9F – and presumably the Dynapwr Forged will be similar. But I’m also too erratic with strike to play the CB’s. Wilson need a model at 32 degrees (similar to TM P770, Mizuno 243, Titleist T150 etc). Other than that, their line-up is REALLY solid

  9. They could have signed lot of YouTuber! Jump-start the sale back up. Marketing team needs to be revamped for underselling great clubs

  10. I got very excited as soon as I saw this title. My combo set are already on order and I can't wait for their arrival. Tell me these aren't some of the best looking, best feeling/sounding, and best performing players ions, EVER. Go on, I bet you won't 😁
BTW, I don't understand why Tour players don't want to hit blades. It's probably because they have never tried a Wilson Staff blade. These things (the previous model at least) are really easy to strike well, are VERY consistent and somewhat forgiving even for a single-figure mid-handicapper. I lose around 10 yards distance on my very worst 7i mishits but a Tour pro is rather unlikely to mishit the way I do.

  11. Always excited for these reviews at the beginning of the year. The only thing I would love to see, would be a look down at address. A lot of talks about top lines, but a side by side, or a top down view would be nice so we could see what Ian and Mikey are seeing.
