Afternoon to you at home to Dan vardell to Ellen Ard and to James Saundra as well uh we’re going to start with some big news from Sky Germany this lunchtime who are reporting that Bayern Munich are now close to withdrawing from negotiations with Newcastle that is after new internal discussions this

Morning B Munich currently do not plan to submit a new offer and do not want to overpay for Kieran trippier um James just remind us first of all how do we get to this stage yeah just to recap that I guess the the breaking news over the last 24 hours or so Newcastle

Rejecting a second offer from B Munich forier and trippier they’ve got an issue at right back which they need to solve in this window now we’re told that biid was somewhere in the region around 13 million pounds but Newcastle stance has not changed throughout this entire

Window K TR is not for sale and that stance has not changed and will not change now we understand Kieran trippier is open to the move but he’s not agitating for it necessarily so we wait to see if Bayern Munich plan to submit a new offer he’s seen as a shortterm

Option rather than a long-term one so I think if K tributes to move to B Munich it will happen in this window it won’t happen at all 33 years of age 18 months left on his contract so that’s why may look quite attractive for Newcastle to

Sell we know how tight they are when it comes to PSR constraints however getting 13 million for Newcastle doesn’t do a huge amount for them in terms of what they could do in terms of bringing a replacement we know Kieran trippier has had a difficult last few weeks he’s made

A number of high profile erors but he still created more chances than anybody in that Newcastle team this season seven assists in the Premier League yes they have a long-term successor in Tina liento but I don’t think he’s quite ready to step up to the plate for Newcastle because you considered his

Injury problems only started eight Premier League matches in the last two years missed a year of football with it with a knee injury he’s the long-term successor but I don’t think he’s quite ready just yet Newcastle probably don’t see him right just yet so the deal doesn’t make sense for Newcastle at this

Point in time if B looked to go again something closer to 20 million pounds may make sense because of what I mentioned the age how long’s left on his contract so it’s not a deal that makes a huge amount of sense at the moment for Newcastle they don’t want to sell him it

Does feel like in the summer there could be a big overhaul of this Newcastle Squad but at this moment in time he’s staying at Newcastle and also I don’t think from what we learning from Sky Germany I don’t think everybody at B Munich was entirely sold on the prospect

Talisman he’s their Vice Captain I think to sell him in this window wouldn’t make a huge amount of sense and would suggest that maybe Newcastle almost potentially given up this season it’s a case of rebuilding in the summer they’re 14 points off Champions League qualification I can’t see them getting

Anywhere close to getting back into contention unless they keep King trippo he’s so important for them he is I mean James talked about him being a Talisman it was the leadership they brought you know he was the start of sort of when they had that takeover and the new

To your own so you don’t want him to then just be shuffled around um unnecessarily um Jacob Murphy’s got an injured shoulder so it does leave them really Exposed on that on that right hand side they I think they’d need to bring someone in um in that position but

On Karen benz’s future will he be coming to the Premier League under the surface I think it does depend on who goes in who comes out so if they get a chance to sell somebody they won’t do it unless somebody comes in they get the chance to bring somebody in they won’t do it unless they sell somebody obviously due diligence is always taking

Month that’s a very good question I think the chances are greater now than they were certainly a couple of weeks ago uh but there’s another candidate for his signature as well in Leon uh the the leagueone club obviously where Benzema started his career who I think always dreamed of a potential return for

Benzema but never really thought that there might be an opportunity to do so that opportunity is very much uh you know real for them now and it’s something that they are trying their best to explore the situation with Benzema has really sort of accelerated over the past sort of 48 hours or so

Benzema now looking at potential short-term Solutions with his relationship uh with with his Saudi employers at Al IAD uh deteriorating so it’s presented this interesting opportunity for a number of European clubs obviously there’s huge financial difficulties to to overcome in potentially signing a player of benz’s

Caliber and also uh you know of his uh you know salary given the uh the wages that he’s on since his move but it’s an opportunity that a number of Premier League clubs have looked into but one that Leon feel they can perhaps you know be in the driving seat for given

Benzer’s strong emotional ties to the club uh and the fact that they are in a desperate situation at the moment trying to improve their position in the French Top Flight uh which is something that Bena like might like in terms of a challenge between now and the end of the

This this comes as quite a surprise because this is a player that well Brendan Rogers sees as a kind of key member of his Squad yeah surprised from that perspective but when you look at his numbers no surprise at all 17 goal involvements this season 10 goals seven assists and 21 Scottish Premiership

Appearances uh the interest from Atletico Madrid could come from the game they played the two old draw at Celtic Park in the Champions League he uh provided an assist in that game they were battered 6 nil away in the uh in the return leg though um he’s got great

Numbers um 23 years old Center midfielder Danish international as well started out at Fulham um as a youth product there had a spell at MK Don before signing for for Celtic but the numbers are brilliant you can understand why Brendan Rogers season was such a key

Part of the squad he won’t want to lose him but there’s a lot of interest around this player from Inter Milan and Jona as well who are um top of La Liga just one point ahead of Real Madrid so there is a lot of interest around him when you see

That 17 goal involved ments and 21 appearances you can absolutely understand why I mean I say surpris in the sense that from Roger perspective he will not want to let him go but also the fact that as a manager you don’t want to well a lose a key player but this this

Late on in a transfer window as well yeah it would be a problem for Celtic every player has his has his pride and and in Scotland the finances would dictate they have an offer comes in that that’s reasonable Celtic would probably accept it we’ve we’ve seen the Scottish

League lose a lot of their top players over the years it’s getting harder and harder for for those clubs even Rangers and Celtic to hold on to their key players but from a manager’s perspective you know with eight days left of the transfer in even if you just starting to

And I noticed in the Sheffield United game at the weekend Alvarez didn’t play and that kind of lacked a little bit of hustle and bustle a bit of bite in their Midfield West Ham with Ward prous and and such it’s not not really their game I think Phillips offers a bit more

Mobility and I think I expect him to play next to Alvarez with Ward prous pushing a little bit further forward and then for them fighting on two fronts they’ve got a brilliant rotation option of such to come in for any one of those players any given time as well so it

Definitely strengthens West Ham’s Squad I think fix will enable them to play in a slightly different way I think David Moy had done an unbelievable job at West Ham I think he gets unfair criticism pretty much on a on a daily basis if you look at where West Ham are what they’ve

Won they had a difficult season last season still won a trophy had two Good Seasons before that but I think this will enable Moes to play in a slightly different way Phillips will get the ball to their quick counterattacking players in a faster manner than those other Midfield players that’s what Calvin

Phillips is good at picking up and receiving the ball off off center backs or the goalkeeper getting on the half turn and pinging the ball getting the diags on the go so I think know why I said that in that way but neither I can’t take you about now Calvin I think

Calvin Phillips will transform the way Manchester City play and for him it’s half a season of playing football at a top Premier League team it then puts him in the shot window where he can either go to West Ham or go to another Premier League team or or a European giant

Somewhere else so it’s one of those rare moves I think works all around because he’s just taking up space on the Manchester City bench because he just sits there for 90 minutes every week the only thing I’d say though you say it’s win-win win it is but also it’s a very

Expensive deal for West Ham to do loan fee that man city are after around7 million we wait to find out how much that West Ham are paying of that and man City also wanted the majority if not all of his wages paid £135,000 a week so
