Totally unedited WHAT’S IN THE BAG! I am going crazy!!

Hi everyone IA here welcome back this is a very quick video on what’s in my bag because you may have seen across some of my content right now there’s a lot going on in my bag at the moment and I’m to be honest I’m in what I like to call the

Ugly zone I’m making changes in my bag and I haven’t find the dream setup yet so I’m not at that point where I look at my bag and I go I love you I love everything about you I feel so confident when I take you on the golf course and I

Know exactly what you’re going to do and we’re going to be friends from start to finish instead I’ve gone about making a change in the irons in my bag and it’s feeling really really uncomfortable and I haven’t found the the right setup but I thought this is really important to

Share this part of the journey with you because we all want that dream setup don’t we and I want that for you I really hope that you over this winter period can find a setup in your bag that you think yes I’m going to take on the

2024 season with gusto and it’s going to feel great but we have to go through sometimes this really uncomfortable period where we’re trying new things and we haven’t quite found the winning formula yet so here’s my bul bag you can see I’ve changed to my winter pencil bag

This is the Rolls Royce of pencil bags it’s the links and Kings titlist pencil bag it’s absolutely stunning usually I put half set in here I’ve got every Golf Club in my set in here right now so it looks a bit busy but generally speaking

I go out in the winter play nine holes and I take a half set the top of the bag I’ve got my driver 3 wood and fivewood I’m super happy as I am with with my 4 iron as well my 4 iron is a u500 it’s

Got an NS Pro 88 gam steel shaft in it very very happy with the top set of the bag it’s from the 5 Hour the pitching wedge where things get pretty uncomfortable let me tell you why and I’m just rattling through this guys so I

Used to play with this club it’s a T200 as you can see it’s a very good-looking Club I’ve had a good run with these guys and it has a recoil 80 g shaft in it that’s a composite shaft I’ve switched to the T1 100s look at these bad boys they’ve got a

Beautiful Slimline Sole and that is leading to straighter shots that’s why I’m changing to the T100 however this shaft has been discontinued you might be thinking now and to be honest I’m starting to think this myself why don’t you just take the shafts out your t200s

And put them in your T1 100s guys that is actually maybe what I’m going to have to do however because this shaft has been discontinued I thought well we ought to find something new and there’s got to be there’s always new things coming out technolog is improving all

The time so let’s try find something that’s up to date current that’s not discontinued that process is driving me crazy and I’ve tried quite a lot of things right by now and I still have not managed to find the winning formula however thanks to some lovely um guys

Out in Dubai Ian and Co from the golf pro shop I find something that I’m I’m close we are getting closer I’ve tried a KBS shaft it was too stiff I I tried the I80 steel fiber it was too stiff and too heavy and I immediately felt like I was getting this

Strain in the back of my wrist which is a big red flag for me so I’ve gone to something that’s a little bit too light but it is a big step forward in the right direction it’s also the brand recoil but instead of an 80 It’s a 65 so

You can understand that is quite a lot lighter the problem is they’ve stopped this 80 range which is where we have a problem so listen we’ve got a few ideas of how we can tweak this shaft to make it a little bit heavier and that is what

I’m going to do next so in a week from now I’m going to report back to to you I also want to say that I decided as someone who is 5′ s that I would try playing with a set of irons that were a quarter inch shorter than standard

Standard men’s length I’ve always played with standard men’s lengths and most ladies do that play to to a certain level I suppose or of a certain height and for some reason I decided I wanted just to see I thought well why not try a quarter inch shorter and see what

Happens and I’m glad I did because now I know it’s not for me so sometimes you got try things in order to to know if it’s right for you but what I do know is I like a slightly thicker grip because that also takes my wrists out of play a

Little bit so it it stiffens up the back of my right wrist which is a very very good thing so listen guys it’s a work in progress at the moment as for the bottom of the bag the wedges you got a little bit of a gapping issue which I’m working

On but I’ve got my 52 and my 60° the 60° is um the tea grind which is for specifically for link so again love to play links through the winter so and of course you know about my terrillion Potter which is very much a firm fixture

In the bag so guys listen that is what’s happening in my bag right now it’s not it’s not very comfortable but I just wanted to make this video to share this with you as a reminder that this process of trying to find the right equipment for you is so important and even though

It doesn’t feel comfortable and you’re desperate to find something that works you can learn so much about your game and what is right for you because it’s so bespoke we all have idiosyncrasies in our golf game and our swing we’re all built differently how I set up to the

Ball is totally different from how you set up to the ball so it’s really important to to find somebody you trust that you can work with that will help you find the right equipment for your game this is the journey that I’m on I really hope that you’re you’re taking

Some time this winter to get into your bag get into the nitty-gritty and you’ve got any if you have any questions at all and you’d like to share what you’re going through right now then drop it in the comments below and um I will get back to you guys thanks for watching

Another video this has been totally unedited what’s in my bag and we’ll see you next time

  1. Something else you may want to put into the pot – Head/swing weight. When I first injured my wrist, I switched to graphite, but retained steel head weight – I liked the extra help, particularly on the short irons. The shaft didn't feel quite right with graphite heads, adding a touch more weight – and changing the balance – just felt right. Even happier I did it as I taped up on the grips – helped balance a couple of extra layers, even with going MCC+4

Of course, you can try heavier with tape, but Mizuno, for instance, change head weights between steel and graphite, and also reduce if you go longer: 1/2" longer, they switch to B weight, 7G lighter – easy to order away from "Standard" weight. And I understand from forum posts, that head weights have generally dropped by about 6g over the last few years for a mid iron. So, if you are comparing older clubs with newer, see if they have retained the same swing weight…..

And I'm thinking about it again now: In my swing room session yesterday, I played a few shots with a different club model for fun. Wasn't any better swing PATH, but it felt heaver. And I got another 5 yards from it. Same loft, AFAIK, possibly slightly shorter.

  2. That bag is beautiful! What's it called? I can't quite hear it properly and google for Titleist and 'Links and king's have not shown anything

  3. Iona, traditional length of men’s clubs stems back to when the average height for a man was 5ft 8-9ins, so length of your standard shafts should be fine

  4. Have you tried the re coil 780 es F3 SW shaft Iona , it weights 83 grams in reg or the recoil 807 F3 shafts which our 82g ….. Jules😢

  5. You might want to try the Fujikura Ventus Red Graphite Shafts. Taylormade puts these in their Stealth irons and have for a couple of years now. I play the Ventus Blue in my Stealth Driver and fairways and they are choice. Titleist T100 is great but I would do KBS Tour 'S'.

  6. I know the feeling Iona, currently my wedges are absolutely dreadful. I switched wedges and they just don’t work. Will be the first thing I’ll update in my current setup. Driver also has been rough.

  7. Iona I have the NS PR 950 GH DST light weight steel regular shafts from Japan in my irons, they were recommended to me by my pga professional mate. Judging by distance I think our swing speed is similar and I would definitely recommend trying them. They are lighter than a normal steel shaft but remain incredibly stable but forgiving on my bad elbows. Could be just what the doctor ordered

  8. Iona great video again, I'm receiving an account of you, on Instagram , I'm already following you, just wondering did you change account to another
    Rgs
    Steve

  9. Iona can you play Jimmy Bullard a want you to beat him as you beat Rick shiels come to lanarkshire I'll will show you good courses to play

  10. I enjoy the WITB vids but I wonder to what extent the majority of players should/need to get into this sort of detail. I currently don't and wonder if I'm missing a trick. After a recent swing studio session I discovered I've an 11 degree gap in my wedges, despite a v good pal telling me I had a gap for a few years, it sounds like I should pay a lot more attention to my equipment!

  11. I went through this exact process last year so I can hard relate to your dilemma! Ironically also switching to the T100 irons (although it was the T100s). I spent the first part of the season trying different irons and shafts and once I'd sorted that I ended up with a huge gapping problem with my wedges. I've only recently become 'comfortable' with my bag, so I'm intrigued to see how it will affect my performance in 2024. Good luck with your irons journey this winter! You're process seems right so I'm sure it will produce the results you want. Loving the content. P.s. switch your 60 degree wedge for a 58 degree (your wedge gapping is giving me PTSD🤣)

  12. I have a similar issue. I feel I require a different set up on my driver. A heavier weight in my putter and missing a club between my 5 iron and 5 wood. Off to my PGA Pro for advice.

  13. Love these informal chat vids. Keep up the great work and best of luck getting your bag sorted. I returned to golf 18 months ago after 20+ years off, so have been going through a lot of bag changes and have made some mistakes as I get back up to speed with club and shaft technology, and as my swing and game play improve. So much choice and so much information to absorb. The engineer nerd and competitive sportsman in me love it all! Ha ha.

  14. It is confusing tho – I got fitted and was told could go either way regular or stiff. I’ve had a couple of lessons and been told I had wrong shaft in clubs so you never know who to believe

  15. I know how you feel. I have recently just bit the bullet and started taking my favorite shafts with me into whatever new heads a buy. I know they work, I know they are perfectly balanced, and I know they are right for me. It just takes one factor of doubt out of the equation. I had been hesitant to do it since I liked having my old set of clubs intact so I could go back to them, but ultimately I found that if I am committing to the new irons, I need to commit by moving my favorite shaft over.

  16. hi Iona, there's a Recoil 660 F3 which is 71g S shaft in the UST Mamiya Japan website. wonder if you tried it.

  17. I am having the same trouble with my irons tried so many sets of newer ping and keep going back to my old Ping Rapture .😂😂
I know exactly how you feel.Hope you find something soon Iona 😊

  18. Hi Iona, I just watched this again. A question with regard to irons, you mentioned you had a u500 4 iron with a steel shaft, different to all your iron options 😂Utility irons are driving me crazy. Can you let me know why your 4 iron is steel and would you recommend a lighter graphite in a utility iron or would you match the utility with the same steel NS Pro 95g shafts I have in my iron set 5-pw? I’m tall at 6 ft 4” and 7 irons carries around 150 yards. Thanks in advance

  19. Wow the detail 😮. I play with a made to measure Ping G400s irons and Calloway Rogue Woods. I didn't have my best season last year. I've just played with a friend in Tenerife with a rented half set of Taylor Made irons and woods. I had a pretty good round with 7 pars and a 2ft birdie on a par 3, which was nearly an ace 😳. Amazing, isn't it. Makes me wonder if I should change 💁💁💁💁

  20. Re-shaft back to previous shafts and you're done. Don't worry about them being discontinued until you break one. The golf-industrial-complex wants you to always be buying new new new. Not necessary!

  21. Love a what’s in the bag! Would you not look to give the Axiom 75g shaft a whirl? Played Modus 105 for a number of years and have an Axiom 105 as starting to get some issues with the joints so looking. for something that can help take a little sting out of impact.

  22. Why did you goto the T100s? Lofts are much weaker than what you were playing. Can’t imagine r you’re getting the ball speeds.

  23. Hey, Iona. Love content. I've returned to golf after long layoff. Years actually. Playing former clubs, which I love. But Mizuno blades, MP60'S. My plan is to work on game, very Rusty. Then if and when I break 80, reward myself with new clubs, being fitted and everything. That's my journey at moment. Love you sharing your club selection journey. Very genuine and rich content, thsnks.

  24. Hi iona, it's good to hear you are finding everything you don't want!! Hopefully it won't take too long to get what you need. I had a wedge issue a few years back. I had my set PW (45*), then vokeys at 48*, 52*, 56* and a 60*. During a gapping session I found I needed more in the top of my bag so went to 50*,54* and 58* much better but I still need to strike them better to get consistent distances. Good luck in finding the 80 gram shafts you need. I'd steal the ones from the other set.

  25. Interesting to hear about the thicker grips helping with the wrist pain.

I moved to midsize grips a couple of years ago and the pain I used to suffer in my left thumb/wrist has disappeared.

Hope you get some success soon regarding the shafts!!

  26. Another great insight thanks Iona. You seem to enjoy your wedges and hit them well, so I do wonder what shafts are in those? Have you considered HZDRUS shafts for your irons? Also, a tip for you…. Lift and place your bag using your left hand to help relieve pressure and weight from your right hand/wrist, keep us posted ⛳️😊

  27. I'm going through the same process right now with irons, really loved the t150s this year, slightly getting beaten out by the Cobra King Tours, but mainly looking for the right shaft for me, have you tried the t150, I found it to be a slightly more confidence inducing t100 with similar accuracy into greens.

  28. Have you tried Fujikura MCI shafts for the irons? They come in a variety of weights and flexes. Might be worth a try.

  29. Iona. I play the new 100s. Love them in the modus pro 120. On the shaft issue, why don’t you reach out to Ian at TXG. He would love to take on the challenge. I’m not sure that you will find a more knowledgeable fitter that will work with you to find the solution. Have a great 24.

  30. Thanks for the video and the honesty too! Hope you find the right setup soon. I’ve just come back from a hip replacement and wondered whether to get fitted for new clubs or wait a while ? Any ideas welcome!

  31. Going through the same process myself, new T200/T150 combo irons with a new to me shaft ordered. New wedges waiting to go in the bag along with a new driver. Just gotta save up for a new hybrid. Hope you get yourself sorted soon

  32. Good to see that good players struggle with their setup as well. I play P790 5 to 50 degree and went for a 54 and 58 to keep it at 4 degrees through the set. Could that help you at the bottom of your bag? Having said that, the guys you deal with will definitely help get you to where you want to be
