The DP World Tour resumes its 2024 season with the first event of a five-week stretch in the Middle East as the inaugural Dubai Invitational marks the start of the International Swing. World Number Two Rory McIlroy will be at the Dubai Creek Resort this week. The Northern Irishman has enjoyed great success in middle east, claiming five of his 16 DP World Tour titles in Dubai. The 34-year-old begins the new year aiming to win the sixth Harry Vardon Trophy of his career. Six-time DP World Tour winner Tommy Fleetwood will be in Dubai this week. He’s making back-to-back appearances on the DP World Tour as the Englishman looks to build on momentum generated from an impressive 2023 season, which included his second Ryder Cup win, and a runner up finish in Dubai at the DP World Tour Championship. DP World Tour Championship winner Nicolai Højgaard will also fancy his chances this week. He’ll be looking to kick on from a successful 2023 which included victories as part of Continental Europe in the inaugural Hero Cup and Team Europe in the Ryder Cup at Marco Simone, as well as earning PGA TOUR playing privileges for 2024 via the FedEx Cup. Others to look out for are Luke Donald, Francesco Molinari and Thriston Lawrence.

Watching one of the world’s best golfers in Rory um the way that he was playing the back nine the way that he attacked the back nine um and yeah just up and down towards the end really like um sloppy bogey on 16 from not that bad of

An iron shot um then yeah birdie birdie 17 18 so all good what was the key moment for you because of course Rory maoy made that Birdie on 12 to narrow the Gap but also bounced back with another birdie for three in a row to go

All level with a few holes to go yeah at that point what was key for you I was playing very well I was hitting it very solid I looked um distinctly average compared to the way R started playing on that back n but I felt felt very in

Control of my game um and it was just a case of staying patient I think um you know 14 uh you know Rory sort of you know it was unexpected um for him not to just roll that one in for another birdie and um but again again you’re just

Watching him the way he bounc back on 15 the shot shot on 16 the way he played 17 um but for me just stayed pretty patient kept playing I knew I was playing very very well and then um even you know the last two holes played 17 and 18 great

It’s a hot start for your 2024 season you’re obviously jet lies coming over from Hawaii you had that get on with it attitude all in all how proud are you of your performance I’m very happy um feels amazing winning um like almost everybody else in the in

The world go if I don’t win anywhere near as much as I’d like to but um just that winning feeling is great um so happy I came back uh this is obviously where I live and had a lot of support and um yeah obviously it’s great to kick

Off the year with um a great result and uh push on from here you know um feel like I’ve been saying for a long time I’ve been doing a lot of really great things I have amazing people that I’m working with um Win Lose or Draw today
