Welcome to the endzone YouTube let’s move the chains I’m here with Pat rafino from Analyze and educate once again and today we are going to talk about the coaching and the coaching staffs in particular for each team in the United Football League we’ll start off with the

Usfl division and move on to the XFL division we’ll have some insight some some history of where these coaches has been but more importantly Pat is going to bring some of their philosophies and what they like to do Pat how are you doing today I’m doing well Sean thank

You for having me come on man it really means a lot I feel like at this point I’m a uh you know regular contributor at this point and uh you know in addition to doing my own YouTube channel which everyone should go subscribe because I’m getting close to monetization you know

And all my writing stuff man it’s it’s been a hectic couple days but you know I’m so I’m so blessed that we’re able to do this and uh you know I’m looking forward to chatting it up and you know continuing to cover the league for a

Minute you know yeah and before we get into it whether you do this before or after the rest of the video make sure to go subscribe to his channel analyze and educate and get him over that 1,000 subscriber Mark so he can get to monetization that is a very big

Milestone for YouTube yeah I mean um not to keep on the pat train for a minute but uh you know recently I had BJ Wilson on um who had his rights take rights by the Houston rough necks pre UFL um recently he was just down in Miami I was just

Talking to him for a little bit for a workout with the dolphins a fun fact about BJ he is the first player from Quincy University to signed an NFL contract and he’s also played in the CFL as well um had Clint sigon Terry Myrick uh Jonathan Alexander Trey

Watson um and then you know something I’ve been doing too is not only having college coaches on but also guys who have played who are training a lot of these uh up incomers like Matt Beerman was on my show he trains Caleb Elby Brady cook from misso Brett Gabbert

Blaine Gabbert and then the list goes on in addition I had uh Neil r the former kicker of uh you know in the NFL for 13 years and his business partner Dave braer who has trained a lot of guys who are kicking at the division

One level but also in the NFL right now awesome awesome so yeah y’all make sure to go subscribe and uh we’re going to start with the United States football league coaches on The usfl should should it be the United States football conference te conference right the usfl conference or usfc United States

Football conference right but it’ll be all right okay so I’ll introduce these coaches just a quick you know this obviously won’t be uh entire history of all the coaches but Mike Nolan is the first one we’re going to talk about the Michigan Panthers he turned the Panthers around when he inherited the Panthers

They were a 2 and8 team and they weren’t very good he was able to flip that and turn them into the playoff team right so um his focus is mainly on development which is great for spring football he loves to focus on technique rather than scheme driven he’s had a long track

Record of coaching along the defensive side of the ball and the NFL is coached for the 49ers been a head coach and he uh had a a real big impact I think on the linebackers especially because he’s had history being a coordinator and coaching linebackers in the NFL for the

Michigan Panthers so Pat why don’t you take it away on Mike Nolan and some of your thoughts about him well anytime you bring in a name like Mike Nolan and people can scoff at his NFL success or lack of but in the end as a head coach

But in the end it’s it’s the same mold as having a guy like Jeff fiser you want a guy who’s been around the game you want a guy who has a name behind them and you want a guy who has connections to the NFL in my opinion um Mike Nolan

People don’t people should know this but he is the son of Dick Nolan who is a former Nfl safety also was a coach of the 49ers for a while and he’s you know dick Nolan also coached like I think the arena league I got I have his page

Pulled up real quick yeah it was in a arena team in San Antonio um aass you know over 70 wins as a head coach that’s dick Nolan not Mike Nolan but he also has um he also has two good coordinators on his staff as well he’s got Eric Marty

Who is kind of a well not kind of he’s a Hall of Famer in European football and currently Eric Marty is a defensive analyst for Eastern Michigan so I don’t know what or either defensive analyst or defensive quality control so that’s another you know tidbit of knowledge

He’s getting but Marty was a quarterback played in Italy for a while I believe he actually played I think he played with brocko Leo who was a former star running backs coach who’s now with mizou and you know Marty runs a spread heavy option but he also has this thing called

A tight end multiple gun offense which means that you’ll see these tight ends come out in 12 person or this offense come out in 12 personel which we saw a lot with Marcus B and Cole hitin which 12 Personnel is one running back two tight ends and they’ll attack the seams

And you saw it a lot with even Trey Quinn attacking the seams and that was their biggest uh success in my opinion where you saw Josh love having big games as you saw those tight ends also coming and a lot of the pushing the ball down

Field as well I know a lot of people are high up on Reggie Corbin um you know I have my own opinions on Corbin I think he’s good a good one cut bat but you know some of these Fanboys think he’s the second coming not not me my opinion

But that’s who’s running his offensive side of the ball um on the defensive side you got Steve Brown Steve Brown’s an old um an old school coach been was the DC at Kentucky for about three four five years he was a defensive back guy for a

Long time as well Steve came in you saw the success of Josh Butler Levante Taylor a very Bend but don’t break defense in the secondary I think at times for the Panthers you saw a lot of success in the defensive front and then it kind of went on the L for a little

Bit and then you saw when Levi Bel came breeling speaks got that much better because now there was a little bit more oomph in that defensive line obviously you have the stability of the linebackers last year with Frank yinda who’s now gone and Noah Dawkins but you

Know this year they’ve also made a couple signings I’m sure we’ll talk about that in another video so I mean linebacker to me would be the next position that they really need to focus on but when you have Mike Nolan there you’re in a pretty good spot yeah and

Mike Nolan such a great developer of talent and technique and also I should say while we’re recording this the current many drafts are going on right now and we won’t know what personnel is coming in or in fact leaving or has been cut from each team as well so the

Rosters will look very different on Monday when we get that official announcement from the United Football League almost said the usfl again it’s just been weird okay now we have John D Filippo now this picture is him of when he coached the breakers uh he coached

The breakers last year to a great seven and3 regular season and right out of the gate they were the top team in the usfl over the stallions and D Filippo is now coaching at the Memphis showboats uh pretty solid Memphis showboats roster and D Filippo I had a lot of time around

Him when I was working for the usfl and the one word to describe him was tough maybe even fiery and the players loved him he’s got a really intense personality and he doesn’t hold back his specialty is along the offense where he has tons of experience coaching quarterbacks and he’s been a quarterback

Coach for the Eagles when Nick fos won the Super Bowl in 2016 last season again he had great success with the breakers and they were the hottest team right out the gate in the usfl and he’s also battling I don’t really want to get into his medical history because you know

That’s kind of his his thing and a little bit private but he’s battling a lot of pain you can tell on the sidelines with the things that he’s going through with his back and in his foot and I I think that it gives him a

Little bit of a chip on his shoulder and he’s definitely an exciting coach for the Memphis showboats to have oh yeah 100% um you know flip is a guy that everyone kind of looked to you know to be that next hot offensive coordinator the head coach got passed over for one

Reason or another um over the years has worked with some pretty good quarterbacks uh another key note is he has brought Nick Foles around with him a little bit when he was a quarterback’s coach with the Bears in addition to being with Jacksonville but something to keep note about his time in Jacksonville

Is while Nick FES obviously got hurt like week one or whatever that was the gardener muu come come out year if you for lack of a better term muu had a lot of success I think he threw 21 touchdowns five interceptions and if we remember by that time he really took the

Took the uh took the league by storm but not only his play but also his Moxy on on and off the field um another you know coaching stops that phlip has had is he was with the Raiders multiple times he was actually the QB coach uh with

JaMarcus Russell when he was there but he also had Josh Macau for a little bit um in addition to had David Fails for a couple years at San Jose State obviously Carson Wentz when he had his MVP season that translated into Nick FES becoming a Super Bowl MVP and he’s also had David

Carr for a little bit as well um 2015 he was with the Browns really didn’t do that well but he made Brian Hoyer look pretty good at times before Brian hoyer’s injury moving his OC is GNA be Doug Martin um you know Martin I could see being from what we understand the

League has not actually formally announced what’s going on now it has been confirmed that Carnell Lake is coming who was a firsttime DC a great NFL player um and whatnot and lake lake has been around guys like barvin Lewis dick lebau Tim Tim uh Tim Lewis from his

Time as a coach and the player so you could probably see elements of those 90s to early 2000s Steelers defenses in addition to what the Bengals used to run dur Marvin Lewis’s time and his time with the uh Ravens when Lewis was the DC when they won the Super Bowl uh the

First time in 200 2001 I believe 2000 or 2001 so big thing you always want to talk about with uh with flip based off you know watching tight end heavy you know but he’s also not afraid to you know spread it out as well he kind of runs this like like West

Coast offense but I’ll say kind of he runs a West Coast off but he also throws elements to his QB strength and if you read any of the blogs if you read if you watch the film that’s a lot of what he’s going to dictate his scheme

In when you have a big lanky guy like Cole Kelly who looks to be qb1 going into into the season um similar skills said the Nick folos maybe more mobile but you know Nicki fos could move a little bit so we’ll see what happens on that front but I was

Saying it the other day excuse me that a guy like uh D Filippo I wouldn’t be surprised if he if he poached uh Sage Sarat with the first opportunity because that tight end room you know isn’t really jumping off the board with JJ Wilson and last year they had Daniel Helm who hasn’t

Resigned yeah yeah tight ends were definitely a big part of the game they did a lot of 12 Personnel last season with the breakers and they ran two tight end sets they were fun to watch especially early in the season they’re also really good blocking they had that

Run going early in the season now we’ll move over to Curtis Johnson who is not coaching the gamblers but the rough necks I’m I’m sure enough people have heard jokes about that so we’ll just continue so the Houston rough necks head coach Curtis Johnson his specialty is the wide receiver position he’s coached

Some huge names like I could go down the list Ted gin Jr Reggie Wayne Sana Moss Michael Thomason Jeffrey Andre Johnson prior to the gamblers he did have head coaching experience although like some of the head coaches you’ll see on this list it wasn’t extremely successful but

He’s bounced around a lot of uh coaching experience in the NFL and last season he went five and five and he had a phenomenal rushing attack led by Mark Thompson and it always felt like this offense was a quarterback away if they can get that you know in this draft or

What they’re going to do at the quarterback position I I don’t know but um I’m excited to see what the ru necks do under Curtis Johnson this year yeah and you know his he’s got Eric Price who’s a longtime offensive assistant in the NFL I think he’s done over 10 years

I know he’s with the Jets the Jags um he’s also been a you uh OC at utap he was with Curtis Johnson at tan um I believe he’s at Memphis as well and I’m trying to think it’s one more it’s escaping me and he also coaches QBs

Privately as well so you got to think there’s going to be a little bit more maturation and whatnot now interestingly enough on the offensive side of the ball they have released Terry Wilson so they go in the camp with Kenji Bahar going into his fourth Pro season spent a

Couple weeks with the with the uh Ravens in 2021 followed by Montel Kart who from and this is like coming from the horse’s mouth was a awesome aome guy at during his time at KU a real like on point guy but limited skill set I believe I think

He threw a really like crucial interception at the end of uh or when they were driving against the breakers in like a win in your in game last year in week 10 and then you got Jer guitano or I I can’t say his name from a Tennessee guy who was working out with

The XFL then you know on and off practice squads with the Broncos and Cardinals and and ultimately kind of got left behind so I definitely foresee Jarrett Jarrett G uh being the guy who kind of pushes forward on that but as you said this offense is going to run

Extremely through Mark Thompson you know not the shill here but look for Clint Sig to be the guy at tight end especially they only have two on their roster so I’d like to believe that they either keep him who also he works as an HB back with Josh Peterson gone Julian

Allen is gone and Brandon Barnes has retired so Brandon’s going full-time in the coaching so we can definitely see a lot of that to get you know these guys comfortable with a heavy you know heavy dose of Mark Thompson and don’t forget TJ Pledger put together some decent some

Decent work um as you know filling in for Mark Thompson because Mark only played uh only played eight games last year and still led the league in rushing uh rushing touchdowns with 14 so we’ll see what happens on that front Chris Wilson I mean look like they so my opinion when

You have the gamblers you have just such a dynamic a dynamic defensive like defensive loaded team and the pro and it’s crazy because they lost so many key pieces in 2022 to not only the XFL but the NFL like Dominique Davis has gone U Chris odm played for the Browns last or

Last year or excuse me in 2022 m abath still in the NFL Reggie northworth Donald Payne they lost Joey Ivy who is NFL guy who retired um Ahmad Gooden didn’t play this year and they still put up respectable numbers on that on that on that side of the ball so

Really curious to see what they what they do moving forward Chris odm is obviously back Tim boner Josh Avery two guys under the radar um Damen Daniels as well Nebraska guy so we’ll see what happens with that but Chris Wilson’s very very very heavy defensive line

Coach as far as his background and he was also the DC at uh Mississippi state for a while but throughout his throughout his career he’s been a defensive line guy yeah all right that’s a good breakdown of what Ru necks fans should expect and this one we don’t have to

Spend too much type uh time on because I think a lot of people know who Skip Holtz is the two-time defending usfl Champion uh this past season he was actually working in college football some may not know he was a special assistant for Northwestern who had a really big turnaround this season not

Only in terms of wins but with the turmoil that was going around in the program and it seems like skip Holtz had a heavy hand in that and uh recently he revealed that he’s been offered multiple head coaching positions in college football mostly group of five which is

Expected because that’s where his past success has been of course he beat his father’s Notre Dame team at South Florida he also coached with Louisiana Tech and that’s why jar Smith is with the stallions for that connection and uh he he’s been great obviously with the stallions and they’re going to look to

Be one of the top teams in the League this year get that threee yeah and he also doubles as the as the OC as well and QB’s coach um he runs this thing they call that he’s been running since Eastern Carolina called the power raid it’s a spread Air Raid Offense that

Focuses more on running the football he’s also got one of the more underrated coordinators in my opinion on his staff in John Chavis he’s been there for the last uh two seasons Chavis is also the linebacker coach there um been a DC at Arkansas Texas A&M LSU and I believe he

Won a national championship as well and you know Davis got a start at Tennessee but then also spent a couple years in HBCU uh as well yeah when he was the DC at Tennessee that’s when they they won the National Championship um something you know when I dig into when I dig into

Chavis very Innovative and whatnot he actually uses this thing called the Havoc the Havoc rate which is percentage of plays for you know tackles for loss A defended pass or Force fumble so he’s seems to be kind of and he started doing this in like 2012 when was with uh

Excuse me 2014 2015 when he was at Texas A&M so a little bit an analytically driven it seems mostly going to be running out of a 43 which is what we’ve been seeing the last couple years and you know really gonna really going to see your strong defensive line play and

Linebacker play which we’ve seen since he’s been in the usfl in my opinion yeah great great points their linebacker has been the strength obviously got Scooby right friend of the show Scooby right and uh awesome dude there all right we’ll move on to the xfc I guess that’s what we’ll

Call it the XF conference yeah the extreme football conference and here we’re we’re starting off with a legendary former NFL coach and he’s wearing Houston gear but he’s going to be coaching for the San Antonio bras he’s 76 years old he was a DC for the Broncos he’s won a Super Bowl in

1989 he actually coached Reggie White which is a former usfl player back in the days when the usfl was a little bit different under the Memphis showboats or he coached him at the Eagles but Reggie White played for the showb excuse me he’s been with the Rams

He’s been to another Super Bowl which the Rams lost he’s the Cowboys Texans and bills last year of course a lot of spring football fans will know him from coaching at the Houston rough necks to the playoffs and losing to the eventual XFL champions yeah so when we think of Wade Phillips

We think of buddy we think of Buddy Phillips or bum excuse me I’m thinking I just morph buddy Ryan and bum Phillips into one person which that’d be a scary defense to deal with but right now they still have not formally announced their their coaching staff one two or two

Right we assume that his OC is going to be AJ Smith who’s been there for a minute be going into his third XFL season was a OC for Hal mummy with the in the spring league as well no he wasn’t with Hal mummy I apologize he was with Brandon Silvers in the spring

League so it’s an air ra their bust offense uh they threw the ball over 330 times compared to 230 rushes last year we’re gonna be going no huddle we’re gonna be pushing that ball and we’re gonna go fast fast fast fast fast with Phillips you’re going to see that three

Four defense really focusing on a guy like and we seen before with Demarcus SAR coming off the edge as that extra rusher and whatnot key note with his defense is that we saw over five or three players have five sacks in a 10 game season last year so it definitely

Means that lot of different guys coming at you all different ways and man I know I’m excited that the battle Hawks picked up uh pet to Peno but he would have been pretty his long arm would have been looking pretty pretty pretty nasty coming off the edge in 202 in 2024 for

Houston yeah yeah all right so we’ll move on from Wade Phillips get that okay so here an interesting one Reggie Barlo who’s the XFL coach of the year for the DC Defenders Of course losing in the championship game relatively young in terms of like his coaching career beginning at Alabama state in 2005

Through 2014 he started as a quarterback coach and earned the opportunity to become the head coach he coached high school ball in 2015 then from 2016 to 2022 he coached at Virginia state and he even had a 10in one season in 2017 at Virginia state which is I believe it’s

Still might be the best they’ve ever had in terms of Virginia State football so he he’s really been a guy who’s been able to win at a lot of places even though I mean it’s only been a few places that he’s been a head coach at

What do you want to know about Reggie Barlo um I I’d like to know so I’m just just reading through it seems like he he’s made it to the playoffs a lot during his head coaching career but he’s never been able to necessarily make it over the hump I know that’s recenty

Bance with the XFL but I also want to know what’s going to happen with this quarterback situation especially with DC well the reason why I asked about Reggie Barlo is first thing is I Reggie Barlo holds a dear place in my heart because of two personal connections I have with one of his

Quarterbacks and his mentor so if you look at Reggie Barlo my mentor right now his his name is Charlie Co and if you don’t know who Charlie Co is Charlie Co is the father of Michael Co and rodne nio and he pretty much mentored you know that was his quarterback’s coach at

Alabama State um do you know who was the quarterback at Alabama State at that time uh he played was it the one who played for the Seahawks his name is escaping me Taris Jackson correct so Taris was there and while they were at ad Alabama State um they did win a

Couple conference championships Coach Co would end up leaving and going to coach with the Raiders with John D Filippo which yeah so it’s funny the coolest thing about Coach Co is he’s old head right he’s been around 50 5050 years coaching and um you know we were talking

We were talking about the Raiders you know I was like yo what was it like being around around you know JaMarcus Russell he’s telling his story he man I’ll just I’ll just call Johnny right now I’m like Johnny who’s you know Johnny he goes oh phlip Johnny philippo

Quarterback’s coach I’m just so he’ll do stuff like that all the time and he’ll call Reggie occasionally and U you know it’s funny because the way I view Reggie Barlo is different than he he he probably views Reggie Barlo but Reggie coach Barlo is such a good man I’ve had

Multiple interactions with him um I also know one of his older quarterbacks his name is Greg Jenkins who who played uh who played quarterback for him and then played in the as a receiver in Canada and uh in the NFL and they just I’ve never heard a bad thing about him and he

Brings together this off and defensive coordinator of Fred kis who had a lot of success um in the HBCU as well in addition to Fred was able if you look at the first three games or two games of teamu in there teamu was not looking comfortable they weren’t running a lot

Of rpos they were kind of getting a little too cute with deark King and then going into that battle Hawks game they really opened up that offense and then you saw the constant success which did leave to a nine and one season which granted they lost to the Guardians

And lost Championship but they still put up 33 or 34 points against against the uh the Guardians which they had a pretty good they had some guys on defense I don’t think they were well coached but they had Talent on defense so take that for what it’s worth their DC my man Greg

Williams another guy St Louis TI um went to Truman State University which is where Cody Shader went by the way um and I you know that was the D2 School and he’s actually friends with Greg Nesbit who is the head coach there and Greg nesbit’s kids are awesome coaches

As well so soft spot in my heart uh for Greg Williams as well in addition to his father-in-law was the late Michael Shannon which I have a bobblehead of who was a St Louis Cardinals broadcaster I don’t think you guys could see it but he was a St Louis Cardinals broadcaster for

Years upon years so he’s Greg Williams in my opinion for all the negative that he gets is extremely loved in the people who matter not the people on Twitter right Greg Williams always gonna be real big in the Tampa 2 he’s gonna be very aggressive and we saw that especially

When they were playing the Raiders years ago theet when he was the Jets DC and then Henry rugs gave you know scored that like 70 yard bomb because they didn’t play anyone in you know extra support with like 13 seconds left or some cra amount of time left which you

Know it’s a very go big go home be physical you know Corners are going to be you know on the edge making a lot of plays by themselves gonna need an athletic linebacker like they had in Francis Bernard so really excited to see what they got going on uh especially who

They pick up in this dispersal draft as well yeah I’m I’m really excited for Reggie barin DC Defenders obviously I’m wearing Defender gear right now from from the other XFL the 2020 version um also you know being an Alabama native like how could I not root for a guy who

Coached at Alabama State and was very successful at Alabama State as well so yeah and you know Reggie Reggie for the boys man like he’s got opportunities to go be a position coach he’s played in the NFL uh for a couple years I think he

Won a Super Bowl as a player so Reggie um Reggie’s got options but he’s here for the boys and maybe he wants to make the jump from to coordinator up there but in the end I am you know I don’t want to say I’m a

Fan of any of these teams I just kind of support them all because I know what the overall mission is you know is to give guys the chance and give allow people to play but it’s also for the coaches and the trainers and the media staff to also

Kind of get their their uh legs under them as well yeah yeah and we want every team to be good because that makes for a healthier league and more opportunity for spring football So speaking of another guy who you could say is for the boys who I think would have a lot of

Opportunities elsewhere if he really wanted legendary head coach Bob stops you know for former Oklahoma fans definitely gonna know him you you definitely know Bob STS if you’re in the midwestern area in Missouri Stoops obviously coming off of an XFL Championship known for getting the most

Out of his players and early in his career he got the nickname Big game Bob for winning a lot of big games and I guess we kind of saw that this year you know the big game Bob might need to be on a comeback here because uh you know

He won the big games in the XFL he may not have won a lot in the last season but he won the ones that mattered most certainly he’s a College Football Hall of Famer of course he coached for Oklahoma that’s what he’s known for and um I’m I’m excited to see how he

Responds this season with a new challenge with a Target on their back yeah I mean I think big game Bob which I call him something different you know me I call that that be means something different in my opinion but big game Bob uh you know he he’s coming into 2020

He’s coming into 2024 with either 198 or 199 career wins yeah so definitely I kind of feel like he you know with this being a more low stressful lifestyle than coaching at Oklahoma especially in the nil era and with his kid playing and whatnot I know he does some analyst work

Has a podcast and everything like that but Bob stops you know he’s good old good old Midwestern guy man you know coming from Iowa originally from Ohio but you know started his career at Iowa so he’s got some love with the ferences over there and then just

Building such a great program at OU to where you had guys like Jason White was there Heisman Josh Hoople was there and then coming back in 2021 to coach in the to coach their bowl game I believe and yeah he he kept that program together it felt like everything was

Falling apart when Riley left for USC so that’s a great point so you just you just got to appreciate that for lack of a better ter lack of a better you know analysis and whatnot he keeps the band together it like he’s got Chuck long and Jonathan

Hayes as his as his um as his co-offensive coordinators for lack of a better term um both of them I I believe John Hayes was an Iowa guy but I know Chuck long was a former first round pick um I gotta pull up John ha yeah so John

Hayes was an Iowa guy Chuck Long’s an Iowa guy they’re all around the same year between 1983 and 1986 so they’ve all went there Hayes was at Oklahoma with him um then went to the Bengals he’s very famous for his scene in Hard Knocks where he’s ridiculing Chase

Kaufman former missou great where he’s like Chase Chase so always fun to see that obviously John Hayes was the OC or the head coach of the battle Hawks which originally we I believe was supposed to be Jim has Haslett but really excited to see what uh what John Hayes and Chuck long put

Together especially with Luis Perez coming into the fold obviously there’s a little bit of drama with Holton Eros who I don’t even know who that guy is ECU left-hander good luck and just saying that not even putting any respect on Luis Perez’s name but in the end I’m

Extremely excited to see Luis Perez have a full grass of that offense five weeks and you know Holton eras man I’m sure you’re watching this because you know you’re you know probably whatever but you know go don’t sleep on Conor denh Hart and go sleep on Kevin Anderson man

Those are two guys you know Anderson’s been Pro QB for a minute and you know Conor denh Hart was a pretty pretty nice you know prototypical size with a lot of athleticism coming out of Holy Cross so that’s my take on that going over to the defensive side Jay Hayes is running the

Defense with Tim Lewis Tim Lewis comes from you know the Bill Cower and Dick Lao uh you know he actually coached Carell lake at one point I believe uh Hayes was a defensive line coach for the Bengals for years he’s also the brother of Jonathan Hayes so looking once again for

Tough gritty gritty Big 12 Style style uh style uh defense but a little bit different than the Big 12 is they got some dogs in the defense of backfield that could kind of you know limit the Big 12 type scores that we saw during the uh during the mid

2000s yeah and Holton no no disrespect to Holton at all he’s a great quarterback but this will be a a huge competition and also Luis Perez is just a guy who does it right but you you said holton’s a left-hander I watched him in college you know I didn’t remember what

Handy threw with they say about left-handers though they spin it different they spin it different right well have you heard that before no I haven’t man I just I don’t know dude not to be edgy but like I you know I don’t I don’t partake in like like who who is

This guy you know like if I’m gonna if I’m G to be coming into a spring football team after getting ousted um ousted by the Ed by like the NFL you know getting cut off practice squads and whatnot like I’m I’m I’m gonna be as I’m gonna be as

Like respectful and you know reach out to the guys saying hey I can’t wait to I can’t wait to be a part of this and all that stuff so yeah yeah I’m I’m sure some texts have been sent and everything’s been been bury the hatchet and I I know Luis

Perez is is definitely not um no I definitely I definitely got some backlash on like some people like in the Renegades like team that I talk to that were like okay bet you know bet yeah um it’s fun you mention Tim Lewis so Tim Lewis for a hardcore spring

Football fans who remember the alliance of American football he was the head coach of the Birmingham iron who went um five and three before the season folded of course and he he coached Luis Perez was his head coach so I I don’t know how much of the connection was

There um but it’s it’s interesting at least yeah move on do you have something to say or no I mean that’s you know it all comes down to it all comes down to uh you know connections with these leagues and my opinion and that’s something especially in a dispersal

Draft is like I will I want say I will always be watching but like when people are like oh like where could this guy go and I just I list off three connections and they’re like oh that’s crazy I’m like it’s really not man it takes six

Minutes on on your phone on YouTube on on Wikipedia so while I appreciate some people thinking I’m way smarter than I am uh I just like to think I work a little bit harder than others say age of the internet all the information is at our fingertips all right now we’re at

The St Louis battle Hawks uh Anthony Beck he he’s been on the I think he was he on an ESPN or was it a fox radio he he yeah he was on a local radio it’s a it’s yeah it was News Talk News Talk uh STL or something like that I don’t know

Follow me on Twitter I know them from other things but uh yeah but Anthony Beck is a former NFL tight end um so he’s got that experience yeah he had he had a good solid career ever in the NFL before the XFL was an offensive coordinator at Wiregrass Ranch High

School he’s been a tight ends coach as well for IMG the nflpa Collegiate bull he also coached for the San Diego Fleet in the alliance American football of course how did seven and3 season in 2023 missed the playoffs which I’m sure he had some insight and input onto the new

Playoff structure which is a video topic for tomorrow or another day um and Beck is is definitely one of the most exciting coaches um even though his resume in terms of coaching may not be as large as others he’s definitely been impactful yeah and I think he’s he’s

He’s a gu’s guy you know I’ve had the privilege of talking with him over the summer um Talk talking with him offline about things and you know just you know seeing him on my weekly pressers with him and it’s just you know sometimes I’ve felt that we can just talk ball you

Know especially about his family and uh with his son right now Rocco kind of being propped I almost say propped up is the right word that’s a little disrespectful um you know coming into his own and training and you know seeing him all around and whatnot talking with

Him at the XFL showcase and everything like like it’s it’s been such a privilege to be around you know coach backck and be able to talk to him and you know get to know him a little bit more it’s funny I actually met coach Beck when I was probably

Like 11 years old maybe younger when he was at the uh when he was at with the Jets at hofra during training camp and you know I told him that and he was like he was like oh I don’t like remember you I go yeah well you’re probably not going

To because I was 4 foot7 and didn’t have a beard so but it’s it’s funny because you know I’ve met a couple former Jets players and uh you know it’s a similar story because they used to come up to the kids and all that stuff and you know

I told that to John McGraw former K State guy it was the same thing you know and uh he was like bro that’s the craziest that’s the craziest story I’ve ever heard I’m like all right John well you don’t have a drink or something like that like what’s going on but you know

Coach back really excited to have him back you know really embracing the city played here used to live with Mark buer when he was here as former West Virginia teammate yeah you know fun fact there so really excited that he’s here as of right now we’re bringing back Bruce

Gradowski and Donnie Abraham um you know Bruce gradowski kind of doing the hot young offensive coordinator scheme a mix a West Coast mix of McVey Shanahan laflor lot two by two lot 3 by one putting putting their big wide receivers on an island and then you know really putting

That cornerback into a make a play situation you saw that a lot with Hakeem Butler you saw that a lot with Marcel Amman unfortunately Amman has not signed his Loi neither is Darius Sheard so we’re not really sure on what’s going on and on the defensive side of the bo ball

You got IMG IMG Co former IMG defensive coordinator New York Jet teammate with Anthony back in addition to a Apollo I don’t know if he’s DC or Dbacks coach Donnie Abraham uh loved what I saw Abraham especially with this guy named Carson Wells one of the linebackers who had a

Stint with the Patriots during training camp really got multiple front moving their defensive lineman around coming up in a mug front occasionally where you had Mike Rose or Wells or any of their linebackers lining up on the line of scrimmage and then either blitzing or dropping back in the coverage in those

Two a gaps really really liked seeing that and then you saw a lot of good play from the secondary you know Nate Meers Elijah Hamilton and Lucas Dennis all earning NFL contracts with Dennis still on the practice squad of Atlanta along with Meers I think is back with the Browns or Steelers

So good success going into that next that next phase for them as far as with their NFL talent and they got some guys in the back earner that can come up and fill in you know John Alexander’s there Elijah h Elijah Hamilton’s coming back so a lot

Of their linebackers are coming back I think that secondary is going to be tested but you know you do have young guy Anthony Weatherspoon Prince Charles A who played who’s an older guy played in the usfl played with the 49ers he was a six round draft pick and you got B

DeLuca healthy as as well so I’m very curious to see what’s coming up on on the next wave he can’t sleep on Brandon Sebastian former charger you know so he was there’s so many guys that I felt that were I don’t want to take this disrespectfully similar in skill but

They were like they didn’t miss a beat you know and they’ve made some signings with Peta and you now you got Eric Hansen and freedom Ain aim madun coming back it’s it’s it’s you know big Kevin Atkins in the middle running the nose Tony tupo gayen Robinson these are all guys with a

Lot of G GES and a lot of reps under their belt so very curious to see what happens you know their secondary I’m worried about in that receiving court or I I mean it’s Boomer bus in that receiving room but ultimately I think they they’re going to shine with Austin pole and Jamarcus

Bradley is a guy to watch out for as well and and obviously you know the draft they’ll have opportunities I’m checking Twitter to see if anything has been posted regarding the draft I have a feeling that the coaches you know will pick their players and I mean I don’t

Know if they’re going to inform the players until Monday you know like some some have been told that they weren’t protected I’ve had a couple reach out to me and tell me that others have been you know it’s going to get leaked uh something something for what it’s worth is there

Was jaor Pearson wrote a tweet that he deleted that said brahmas or Canada I saw that yeah yeah and then I didn’t screenshot it because I was doing something but it is what it is you know like it I mean but there’s also that report that so there is a report that

Multiple like people or Canadian teams were reaching out to jaor pearon and they were like I don’t think that’s true because he’s on the neg list right now and then someone on Twitter was like well the neist came out and he wasn’t on it it’s like no they only published 10

Names so okay yeah so I had a CFL person reach out to me about that and I’m just like hey man is what it is bro it’s funny you mentioned Mark buer by the way when I used to live in St Louis I used to go to what is now the

Battle dome where the the Rams used to play the NFL yeah and used to watch him and all my favorite players will Withers spin back in the day I think it was like 2007 he uh so when I had cancer will Withers spin visited me in the hospital and that’s

Um we’ll talk offline about that that’s actually really cool yeah he gave me I have a jersey I don’t have it here and I got to re I had the opportunity to actually reconnect with him a couple times he went over to play for Tennessee and then I reconnected after now he’s

Now he’s like a farmer totally awesome yeah yeah that’s yeah so before we end the video I’m sure everybody watching I want y’all to answer the question if you could pick one coach one head coach that if you were a professional football player and you could suit up tomorrow

And run out the tunnel with who would that coach be I want everybody in the comment section to also answer this question and Pat you’re first oh man if I could pick one head coach of like the XFL or in the all the eight all the eight so the UFL be

Wade yeah it’s nothing against the other coaches it’s just I value I value the offline experience when I talk to older coaches so much of them just like we’re not even talking scheme we’re just talking the stories and whatnot like I when I talk to Coach

Co like I hear all his bill Snider stories so like it’s it’s like the crazy stuff they hear all the time you know so that’s I just that’s my opinion on it you know it’s nothing against any of the other coaches like I I you know I

Probably get a lot of stories from coach coach uh coach Holtz as well but yeah I mean you know if I I would love to just sit in chat with uh sit in chat with uh coach coach Phillips and you know just hear what he has to say you know you

Know the leagues are really good about like hooking me up with interviews but that’s that’s one I just want to you know I don’t even smoke cigars anymore but like have a have a fine Brandy and just just BS with for you know hours upon hours yeah I’ll have to go it was

Close it was either Reggie Barlo because from the the Alabama connection another another connection here skip PS I’ve obviously working for the usfl I had opportunities to talk to him and being a giant Notre Dame fan like how could you not want to talk with a a guy who he

Loves Notre Dame so that that was my reasoning uh behind it so thanks for joining Pat and I hope everybody really enjoyed this I mean this was pretty in depth um in in-depth as we could especially with everything going on it’s fun to actually like talk football

You know uh these past months have just been about the merger and everything and I think people are excited to like actually talk about what’s going to go on on the field and this video was kind of a a step closer to that so it’s probably different from what most people

Are consuming content wise um and this was really fun I enjoyed learning from you Pat as well about the the different uh schemes and things that these coaches like to implement in their te yeah and you know it’s Personnel dependent you know we’ll see if these

Things these things change up as well so I’m really uh really excited about that awesome well thank you make sure like subscribe and comment so we can move the chains move the chains
